Extra Space Storage review: Baby items damaged in climate controlled unit

On August 26, 2020 I went to my storage unit D47 at Extra Space Storage located at 12334 old Tesson rd St. Louis, mo 63128 and found my baby items covered in mold and spider eggs. I contacted the facility the next morning to file complaint. I was told to contact insurance company to file complaint. I did this, and was told it would take 7 days. We removed all our items the next day and canceled our unit. Finally on September 18, 2020 we were told they denied our claim because insurance did not cover mold and that was the facilities responsibility .
I again contacted facility plus sent an email with pictures and was told they would forward to district manager. Today I called facility again and was told they had no answer yet from district manager .i have over 2000.00 worth of baby items damaged and feel since I paid extra for items to be protected in climate controlled unit, they are responsible for my damages. It is unbelievable to me the lack of response and customer service dealing with this matter. Our family business uses extra space storage also and will be canceling their unit as well due to this matter. Our family business is customer service and would never treat our customers in this manner . I have attached some pictures and have more if needed. I wish I would have checked tour company ratings before I chose to use tour facilities. If your company has any integrity with regard to customer service, I assume I will hear from someone promptly . If not, I will share this experience with friends, family and business acquaintances. Thank you
