Crazy Domains review: Hosting

I have hosted my Woo Commerce site with crazy domains for 9 years. 8/02/2024 I went to my site and I had an error so could not access anything. I thought my site had been hijacked. The error message read 'You Are Account has been Suspended. Access To This Website has been Restricted". Reading that was strange especially 'You Are'. Contacted Crazy via chat. Got told i exceeded my storage and I had to upgrade to a $4100 package. According to Crazy I would not be able to free up storage on my own. At this stage i felt my site was being held to ransom as i had no email notification of this storage problem and no notification that they would suspend my site. I asked for further assistance which i got another salesperson. The upgrade was then marked down to $2100. I am not tech savy and by this stage i was feeling very stressful and panicking. I really felt i was being setup and held to ransom. I asked why did they not notify me they said they sent emails. My husband and I had recieved nothing in email. I asked when were the emails sent and they ended the chat. My husband was at work they had called him after they ended the chat abruptly with me and offered him the package at $700. My husband declined and said what I said we are being held to ransom. Husband comes home he gets into our control panel in Crazy account to free up space. He contacts them on chat they tell him its still over he needs to delete more. They give him instructions on what to delete and send him screenshots. They tell him to contact once done and my site will then be back on line. He follows instructions he contacts them through chat again to advise its done. They tell him the site has gone its been deleted. He is now talking to someone different and they can not help. I then jumped on and said you have no problem suspending my account without notification you have no problems holding my business to ransom for thousands of dollars & you have no problem instructing on how to delete my business. Fix it. Then I am told yes yes we will fix that don't worry we will email you trust me we have people working on it. Have a good day. It was 1am in the morning. Have a good day he says.

This started at 2pm Thursday afternoon.

I recieved no email again was not all shocked. I had a backup of my site with Crazy in 2018 but I stopped using them. Makes me wonder do they target their customers that don't have backups. It very much feels that way.

My backup was with Jetpack thankfully.

I would never ever reccomend Crazy Domains to anyone. It actually felt like a scam to me and it wasn't it is how they operate. They lie and shut your business down until you pay thousands if you don't they will instruct on how to delete your business.

The name Crazy suits.

I am so relieved to be free of them. It was an absolute nightmare & an experience I will never forget.
