The day finally came for me to get affordable health
The day finally came for me to get affordable health care but the website for some reasons did not accept my application and it is very confusing. The individual and family button went nowhere and the shop and compare tool didn't even work. I couldn't enter the number of children on to the site. The See my options button didn't work. This is obamacare? This is the most confusing thing ever. For those of you who also hate this website, I have the pdf form here, just go to this link and print it out and then call them. https://www.coveredca.com/PDFs/English/paper_application/CA-SingleStreamApp_66MAX_***.pdf
Awesome service

Covered California Complaints 12
Sky high premium's & pays doctors less than a plumber maked
I despise Blue Shield of CA Covered California. Very few doctors accept Covered California because they pay insultingly low fees to doctors. I have 2 good doctors who accept this insurance and I feel ashamed that they lose money accepting me and my crap insurance. One doctor complains bitterly about it and I suspect I will be losing his services soon. Blue Shield of CA Covered Calif has collected over 100k in premiums for me over the years & paid out almost nothing. Now that I have a severe health issue, I am finding there are no good specialists who accept Covered California policies. I am paying high premiums yet paying out of pocket for almost everything. As a newly disabled person, I can't afford to pay out of pocket yet I must if I want care. Blue Shield must think doctors order MRIs just for fun. Why does Blue Shield have to approve a doctor ordered test? Why should doctors answer to pencil pushers? This prior authorization policy for anything that costs over $100 ishould be illegal. Doctors know what is medically necessary, insurance companies know what costs them money. The only one benefitting from Blue Shield insurance is their CEO who makes 3.6 million. I guess that is their reward for denying health care to people who are suffering and who truly need help. I need help so badly and no way is Blue Shield Covered California going to do anything except call necessary procedures investigational and deny healthcare. I don't blame doctors for refusing to be paid crap by Covered California policies. Seriously, my plumber and a/c repairman make more money than Blue Shield Coveref Calif pays my doctors. Get rid of insurance companies, they have ruined healthcare.
Unable to get any insurance at all through Covered California
I had been on MedicAid (MediCal) under one provision, which expired. However, my income should have still been easily within limits to continue MediCal, but when I went to renew it, they only presented me with a variety of plans with $500+ per month premiums, and no indication of any subsidies or other programs under special covid provisions or ACA or otherwise. They didn't ask for more information, just didn't give me any other options. After a couple of months of not hearing anything more, I found out by logging in and poking around that they were missing some documentation, which they'd never informed me of by letter, email, text message, or otherwise. I supplied it, and waited again. Again, after a couple of months of not hearing anything, I found out that they were wanting still more documentation that they'd never asked for before. I supplied it, but never heard anything back, and now it's months later. Now the site says I am ineligible for MediAid, ineligible for marketplace accounts, ineligible for free bronze plans, ineligible for subsidized silver plans, ineligible for everything the site offers, with no explanation whatsoever of why. And there is no way to submit a new application either, since there is already the old one in the system. Nor is there any indication of whom to contact.
I have had problems applying for MediCal a couple of times before, and my brother did as well (and died of treatable cancer as a result). Overall, this is making me wish the entire Affordable Care Act didn't even exist. At least then everyone KNEW that to get health insurance they'd need to pay exorbitant amounts to a private company. Being dangled false promises of free or low-cost insurance only to get months of runarounds and hassle and lacking communications and ultimately be told that my only option is to pay exorbitant amounts to a private company via a separate application is just insulting, and a complete waste of my time. If I wanted to be poor by spending several times my annual income on health insurance premiums I could have done that months ago and saved myself the hassle of this BS website and county health services, which seem to exist only to deny coverage in as many cases as possible, while wasting as much of your time in the process as they possibly can. All I can say is I'm glad the courts struck down any penalties for not having insurance, because being penalized for how horrible CoveredCA is would be the icing on the cake...
Disappointing Service from Covered California: Mishandled Application and Confusing Tax Forms
I recently had a very frustrating experience with Covered California and I am not happy about it. My application was lost for 10 to 20 days during the busy month of December in 2017 which caused me to miss my application deadline. I did my part in submitting it on time, however, due to their mishap, my application was not processed as needed. To make matters worse, at the time, they tried to place me on Medical like they did to a relative of mine who got away with welfare fraud. I feel like they were taking shortcuts and not giving me the service I deserved.
To add insult to injury, they did not tell me that I could have reapplied in January and now, they are trying to penalize me again. It seems very unfair considering the situation was not my fault.
Additionally, I have had difficulty getting information from the IRS about whether or not I was penalized in 2016 when I only missed one payment in December. This was all because Covered California sent me the wrong tax forms. As a result, I missed out on getting my tax refunds and didn't even get a small check back. I am beginning to think that they may have sent it to a relative due to Covered California's lack of transparency.
I feel that the way Covered California handled my situation was very disappointing. I feel like I was not given the proper care and assistance that I deserved and as a result, I have been left feeling frustrated and helpless. I hope that they can improve their service and help others avoid the same mistakes and hardships that I have gone through.

Hit or Miss: My Customer Service Experience with Covered California
Recently, I had an experience with Covered California that left me feeling dissatisfied and frustrated. While on the phone with a customer service representative, the call was accidentally disconnected. When I called back, I was greeted by a man who seemed disinterested in helping me and was audibly slurping his soda. There were long gaps of silence, rustling papers, and no indication that he took any pride in his workplace or his job. Unfortunately, this interaction did not result in any progress being made towards resolving my issue. He claimed that everything was taken care of, but I wasn't convinced. When it came time to leave feedback about my experience, the representative never hung up despite knowing that I was waiting to do so.
After this frustrating ordeal, I decided to call back for a third time. Fortunately, I was connected with a woman who was incredibly professional, courteous, and productive. She was able to help me in a timely manner and provided me with the information I needed. It's unfortunate that one person can sour the experience of working with a company like Covered California. There are countless people who would love to have a job and would take pride in providing excellent customer service. It's important to recognize and praise those employees who go above and beyond to make customers feel valued and heard. Overall, while my initial experience was disappointing, I was pleased with the outcome after speaking to the second representative who was excellent.
Warning: Poor Experience with Covered California - A Flawed System That Needs to Change
I've had a really poor experience with Covered California and wanted to share my thoughts. Let me begin by saying that it has been a huge mistake to opt for this insurance. I would not recommend it to anyone.
One of the biggest issues I have encountered is the fact that they don't allow me to go out of state, even if there is an exception that needs to be made. For instance, I recently had to visit a specialist who was five hours away (each way), and the nearest one in-state wasn't accepting new patients. To make matters worse, the one-hour drive into the next state could yield an appointment within a few days. It's a shame that I have to resort to paying out of pocket when it wasn't necessary if I had better insurance.
Furthermore, the whole system and the way the health insurance works are completely unacceptable. I'm fed up with this experience and I'm sure many others would agree. I recommend that the people in charge who operate these systems reconsider the way they function for the sake of those who rely on them.
Additionally, the customer support experience I had was also a nightmare. The woman who assisted me kept looking up providers in counties I've never heard of, six hours away. She didn't seem to use my zip code or town name. Consequently, I couldn't get a straight answer, and it was frustrating.
My final suggestion is to get in touch with your local Congressman/woman and urge them to address this issue. By doing so, they can help improve the state of health insurance and hopefully create a fair and efficient system that can benefit everyone.
Disappointed with Covered California: Paid for Medical Coverage, Received No Medical Help
Upon searching for health insurance options, I stumbled upon Covered California, an online marketplace where Californians can buy medical coverage (coveredca.com). As a 37-year-old man, I have never visited a doctor, so I wanted to ensure that I had sufficient coverage in case any health issues were to arise. With that in mind, I selected the most comprehensive and expensive plan available.
After five months, I still had yet to see a doctor, though I do acknowledge that the ongoing pandemic might have been a contributing factor to this issue. I even had a scheduled phone doctor visit, but that, too, was cancelled. I tried to arrange a consultation with a psychiatrist for my depression, but my requests were ignored.
As someone who has never consulted with a doctor before at my age, I have no idea what sort of tests or screenings I should have. I would like to get examined for everything that's considered appropriate for someone in my age bracket who has never visited a doctor, but Covered California has not scheduled any medical appointments on my behalf. Moreover, I am supposed to take charge myself in scheduling any medical exams to get the care that I need - a responsibility that has stirred up anxiety in me given my lack of familiarity with medical procedures.
In summary, to my great disappointment, I have not had any access to medical help despite paying for the insurance. It feels like I’m getting scammed, paying for a system that benefits others when I am left behind without the support and care that I need.
Not Worth the Cost: A Frustrating Experience with Covered California
As an individual who has used Covered California (coveredca.com) on multiple occasions, I have to say that my experience has been less than satisfactory. While the website is intended to make the sign-up process for health insurance easier, I have found it to be just the opposite. The site always seems to have some sort of issue- whether it's loading slowly, failing to save information, or simply not functioning properly.
In addition to the technical difficulties, I have found the employees at Covered California to be unhelpful on more than one occasion. The assistance they provide is minimal and I have found myself spending countless hours trying to enter and amend information, only to get frustrated and still not be done.
One of the things that bothers me most about Covered California is their "financial assistance" program, which I find to be anything but helpful. While I appreciate the concept behind it, the calculations that determine how much financial assistance an individual receives are often inaccurate. As a result, I have been burned in the past with tax bills that are much higher than expected due to miscalculations in the assistance I received.
Another issue I have with Covered California is the insurance policies themselves. I find them to be expensive and not worth the cost. I dread having to sign up for coverage every year, knowing that I will be stuck with this insurance for the duration of the year, and that I will inevitably be hit with unexpected costs come tax time. The insurance policies also have a tendency to misrepresent doctors and whether or not they accept the insurance, which can be incredibly frustrating when trying to seek medical care.
Overall, my experience with Covered California has been a frustrating one. The site is difficult to navigate, the employees are unhelpful, and the policies are expensive and not worth the cost. While it is important to have access to healthcare, I would caution anyone who is considering using Covered California to carefully explore their options before making a decision.
Disappointing Experience with Covered California: Lack of Transparency and Difficulty Finding a Doctor
's experience with Covered California was less than satisfactory. While the price seemed reasonable at $83 per month, she soon discovered that finding a doctor in the Blue Shield network was quite difficult. Despite receiving a list of doctors who were supposedly in the network, none of them were in the Covered California plan. This left Mary feeling frustrated and disappointed.
To make matters worse, when she contacted Blue Shield for assistance in finding a doctor, they were unable to provide up-to-date information on who was in the plan. Mary found this surprising given that Blue Shield is capable of tracking millions of subscribers, but apparently not a few thousand doctors. She couldn't help but wonder why they were not able to provide more accurate information.
Mary discovered that Blue Shield had no doctors in the plan and was attempting to hide this fact by using a shell game. This involved providing a list of all medical staff in the system, rather than just the doctors who were actually in the Covered California plan. Mary found this to be both misleading and frustrating.
Overall, Mary's experience with Covered California was not what she had hoped for. While the price seemed reasonable, the lack of transparency and difficulty in finding a doctor left her feeling disappointed.
Poor Communication and Confusing Policies: My Experience with Covered California
My experience with Covered California was not the greatest. While I did appreciate the fact that I was able to cancel my plan, I did not feel as if I was given all of the information necessary to make an informed decision. When I called to cancel my plan on January 28, I was not made aware of the 14 day cancellation policy that Covered California had in place. Although I understand that this information is available on the website, it would have been helpful to be informed of this policy while on the phone with a representative.
Additionally, when I called today in an attempt to receive a refund, I was met with some confusion. According to Covered California, I did not explicitly state the date by which I wanted to cancel my plan when I called to cancel it. From my perspective, calling to cancel my plan meant that I wanted it canceled immediately. I did not want to leave it up to the company to decide when I would stop paying them. It would have been helpful to be made aware that, due to the 14 day policy, I would still be charged in February before my plan would be officially canceled.
Overall, I was left with the impression that Covered California is more concerned with making money than keeping its customers insured. I ended up wasting hundreds of dollars on insurance I couldn't even use anymore. It is my hope that Covered California can improve its customer service in the future to ensure that its clients are more informed about the policies that are in place.
Covered California Customer Service Review: Frustrated by Negative Encounters with CSRs
As a concerned citizen and customer of Covered California, I must share my experience with their customer service. I have recently had a string of negative encounters with their CSRs that have left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. While I am not one to typically write reviews, I feel compelled to do so in order to bring attention to the issues that need to be addressed.
When calling Covered California, the wait times can be extensive and navigating through the automated system can be an exercise in patience. It is not uncommon to be transferred several times before finally reaching the appropriate department. However, the real problem lies in the attitude and professionalism of the CSRs.
My most recent encounter involved a CSR who was clearly not interested in providing any assistance. Instead, she became defensive and accused me of being "unprofessional" for simply asking a question. This type of behavior is unacceptable and does not instill any confidence in the abilities of Covered California to provide reliable healthcare assistance.
On a more positive note, I did have a helpful interaction with a second representative who was able to assist me in creating a login and password for my brother's account. However, this conversation was also frustrating as it ended abruptly with a phone disconnect after an hour and a half on hold.
The issues with Covered California's CSRs need to be addressed immediately in order to provide the highest level of customer service to those who depend on their healthcare assistance. It is unacceptable to be left on hold for extended periods of time and to be treated disrespectfully when simply seeking assistance.
In conclusion, I urge Covered California to take action to improve their customer service and to provide the support that their customers deserve.
Unsatisfactory Experience with Covered California: A Review of Frustration and Delay in Accessing Medi-Cal
As someone who has had personal experience with Covered California, I have to say that my interactions with the organization have been far from satisfactory. My family and I signed up for Medi-Cal for a relative who is confined to a skilled nursing home, and it has been a frustrating and disappointing process.
We initially submitted our application online through Covered CA, only to have it lost due to a "glitch" in their system. We then sent a second application via priority mail with a required signature - but unfortunately, it too was lost, and we were unable to get any information on who might have signed for the envelope.
After this, we made a third attempt to apply by phone in August, but when we called recently to speak with our assigned case worker, we were informed that there was a significant backlog of applications on her desk going back eight months to January 2014. Our case did not seem to be any closer to resolution, despite our numerous attempts to follow up and get assistance.
Covered CA's phone tree system has been a particular frustration, as it seems designed to deflect and delay rather than provide any real assistance. At this point, I am left with no choice but to conclude that the Affordable Care Act system is demonstrably broken - at least as far as Covered California is concerned.
I truly hope that this review can help others in similar situations to understand the challenges they may face when dealing with this organization. Perhaps with enough feedback and pressure, we can hope to see improvements in the future - but for now, I cannot recommend Covered California with any confidence.
Disappointing Experience with Covered California: Overpaying for Health Insurance
As a supporter of Obamacare, I was excited to use Covered California as my primary source of obtaining health insurance. Unfortunately, my experience left me less enthusiastic about the state-run marketplace. As an unemployed individual, I opted for a KAISER bronze plan from Covered California at the start of 2016. However, this plan cost me $786.97 more than it would have if I had purchased directly from KAISER.
My situation changed when I landed a job with medical coverage in mid-March 2016, and I quickly informed KAISER of this development on the 28th of the same month. But to my surprise, the Kaiser billing department informed me that they could not help because KAISER was only doing billing for covered California. I was disappointed to learn that I still had to pay the premiums till the end of April when I should have stopped on the 14th of March 2016 if I had purchased directly from Kaiser.
This experience left me wondering why a government agency like Covered California would not be more customer-friendly like any other private insurance company. Despite my disappointment, I still consider Obamacare an essential component of obtaining health insurance. My advice to those who are not homeless or do not necessarily require assistance from the state is to avoid purchasing from Covered California as they could potentially end up being ripped off like me.
