WorldRemit account shut down without notice

My complaint is that instead of transferring the money worldremit just shut down my account without notice. The good news is that I also got a full refund ( I paid by virtual visa debit). True, I wasn't robbed, but I feel insulted. Like an idiot I was trying to write to their customer service, which requested my identification information, which I provided, after that there was no response. I tried calling them, but the waiting time was too long, I gave up. After that I tried to log in to my account - that's how I found out it was suspended. After that I wanted to complain to my bank who issued my visa - that't how I found out I got a refund. Just a simple notice would've saved me all the trouble. Felt like dealing with KGB or something.

I had a very similar experience. I regularly send money to the Dominican Republic to support some friends with their schooling/college and decided to try World Remit because they charge less fees than Western Union or Moneygram. I opened an account with World Remit and all my details were accepted and I made the first transfer which was completed without a hitch. However I did wonder why if the transaction was approved by my credit card (I received an email to this effect from my credit card company) I still had to wait for the final comfirmation from World Remit?
Then 2 weeks later I needed to send some help to another friend and completed all the details for this transfer which was once again approved without question by my credit card company and I received an email from WOrld Remit that they were finalizing the transaction. About 1 hour later I received an email to say that my account has been suspended. Very shocked at this message, I completed their "contact us" form with a copy of the email and my question "what was wrong"? I received an automated message with a case number and a message that my case was being reviewed.
2 days later I received a message from one of their "security officers - Julian" that my accounts details did not conform with their company policies and terms of agreement and as they have the right to refuse services to customers according to these policies, my account is cancelled and I cannot use their services. Also they could not divulge the reason because it would publicize their security procedures.
Well I was flabergasted and this after only 1 transaction of only Euro 60 which was completed correctly and without a hitch. I felt like a criminal who had just sent 1 million Euros using their services and violated dozens of currency laws.
If they do not want you to send money to more than one recipient then their software program should not give you the possibility of adding a new recipient and maybe they should check and verify your account/profile details before allowing you to do a transaction and clear any "bad points" up front.
Very bad Company and customer service.
And they want to be competition to Western Union - sorry but they have a long way to go. 😚😡😡😞

WorldRemit claims I did not pass their security check?

Hi,

I work as a baby ICU nurse for a large healthcare system located in the NW and wanted to send some money to help an orphan in Zimbabwe. WorldRemit blocked the transfer and shut down my account claiming I am a security risk. I am no more a security risk than then any other hospital employee. They would not allow me to clear up any possible concern. They are completely nuts to think that a baby ICU nurse wanting to help an orphan overseas is some kind of security risk. They have very poor customer relations as far as I am concerned.

I'm having the same problem with world remit. I sent money on 3/27/16. They have not delivered the money to the sick person that I'm sending it to. I don't know where I can go to get help in order to get my money back from them.

I specifically made known to them that the person whom I'm sending the money to is very sick. He was almost dying when I first started sending him money. He needs the money for medications and food.

I will appreciate any help and suggestions that I can get in order to help me with this matter with world remit.

Worldremit does not in good faith as a company. I have had a recent incident where $2000 was transacted out of my account. I immediately contacted them and indicated FRAUD. They opened a case and determined yes it was fraud and I was not liable, but they refused to refund my money, saying it had been paid out...what kind of business makes a customer pay for fraud that they admit too? What kind of liability are they responsible for? Worldremit loves the customer, but will sell you out instantly if they see any loss...this company is a THIEF! Next another representative contacts me and says my account does not pass their security review, and deleted my account, but is their systems and internal controls, by informing me of this, is is blatant admission that Worldremit has poor security, they need to have unique code, account and password for security, this company does not do this...stay away from Worldremit, they are thieves ro me, has mistreated me and stole my money. Go to XOOM, they are more professional, listens to customer and have better security. Mike

WorldRemit did not transfer money to recipient

Following a transaction to transfer AUD$80 to a friend, WorldRemit sends me an email to advise that my recipient's bank is closed. And if I can send another account to use. I sent another account to use by email but no one returned my emails. This is a scam they do. They will not reply to your emails or requests to return funds if they cannot deliver. They make it so hard to be contacted so you don't get your money back. Scam! They should not be operating. What is the UK consumer board doing about this company?

WorldRemit never transferred my money and did not respond to email inquiries.

I completed an online money transfer to a friend in the Philippines at approx 1:30 am PST on July 12, 2015.
I received a receipt for the transaction online but never received an email notice that the funds had gone through and were available to my recipient. My recipient was waiting for the transfer, which was to be a cash pickup.
I sent the transaction # and told her that she should receive an SMS notice that the funds were ready for pickup. It is now over 12 hrs later and neither I nor she has heard anything more from WorldRemit. There has been no notification of any problem or reason for the delay. I have sent 3 email inquiries to customer service but after the initial acknowledgement of the receipt of my inquiry, and subsequent assignment of case number [protected], I have heard nothing. The money is being held as a pending transaction by my bank.
The whole purpose for the transaction was to send cash instantly to my recipient so she could buy a birthday present from me to give to her 5 year old nephew.

WorldRemit stole my money

I signed up for the service and everything was going ok until I tried sending $134 USD to Mexico. The recipient never received the money and I have been charged. That is called stealing. I called their support number and after hours of waiting on the phone, I was told it has been cancelled, but I never got my money back.

I am disappointed and frustrated. I have attempted to send 120 aud to Colombia, it is not the first time that I use the app, but this time, the money was taken from my bank account but the transactions were not created. I never received the money in Colombia. I have tried to call, email, chat worldremit without success, because I don’t have a transaction number because it was never created. I need this to be taken seriously. Such a bad customer service. They are just putting barriers for customers and it is impossible to communicate with them.

World remit is an online fraud and they stole money from your account them self and later they are gonna say they will refund your money back and they wouldn’t because they all have your card info; btw my sister send $850 to me and they hold the money because I can’t see the money in my account and my sister make a complain cuz she live in USA and later they refund the money in the next 7days and, then suddenly on the third day the world remit deducted the money back from her account without her permission and they did this because they all have my sister card info so immediately my sister call them the world remit told her to submit some files and she did and later they requested for another files, such as bank details, copy of her card e.t.c and my sister let them know this is online stuff that she can’t give them all her personal info so later she said they should cancel the transaction and send her money back to her account and till today they don’t refund the money back and I think the money is not there company money so they need to refund the owners money back if the receiver doesn’t receive the money

WorldRemit fraud

I just started to use this service and after 2 days of the initial transaction my money has been taken of my credit card but my people still have not received anything and I still waiting for the confirmation email or text message.. other things they don't tell you is that money from your CC goes as cash advance and the bank charge a bit chunk of money for this.. Rang their phone number and nobody answer, just a voice message telling you the same thing over and over.. email aren't responded and time keeps moving.. I think this business is nothing serious... Also I notice that they have good feedback from people but I just saw in the internet that those company buy feedback from "real people" in Pakistan or Bangladesh .. so they may also be fake feedbacks.

WorldRemit customer service never available

I had initiated a transfer through worldremit few days ago. Due to some problem I wanted to cancel the transaction. Surprisingly, there is no option to do this from the user's end. After that I have been trying to contact the customer service multiple times to request them to cancel my transaction, but no one is ever available to take the call.
I am trying to connect them through the so called 24*7 email service, but of no use. Which country you are sending from does not have the option "UK", how am I supposed to send a mail to them, I'm really not sure.
I got a mail from customer desk that after a specific date, my transaction will be auto cancelled, however, even that has not happened till date. I replied to that mail asking to cancel my transaction, still there is no action on that.
I just want my transaction to be cancelled. Don't how big it is a thing for them to do that no action is being taken on that and what kind of customer service they have that no one is ever available.

WorldRemit untrustworthy & unreliable - hoarding of funds sent to them for a transfer

They are extremely unreliable and untrustworthy. We have been harassed to no end trying to deal with them. They have had £5000 from us for the past 3 weeks now which have not reach the receiver in India despite our several attempts.

The Bank Transfer to worldremit.com from our end was done on the 17th December 2014 and they confirmed they received the funds but as of today (5th January), the funds have still not been transferred to the account in India!

We have tried several times but they have given us a new reason each time for why our funds have been with them but not transferred. The first time we made the transaction, we transferred the money and the instructions for an exchange rate of over INR 99 to a pound. The next day, they called and said the money has been received by them through a bank transfer but the instructions on where it is to be sent are missing while we am certain we had put those in. In this time, the exchange rate had already dropped and we were incurring a loss.

Nevertheless, giving them another chance, on the 23rd, we sent instructions again for the Indian account these were to be transferred to at a lower exchange rate taking the hit personally for their mistake just to make sure the money is received as this was required rather urgently. This transaction sat as 'PENDING' on their system for a week and then was 'DECLINED' due to no bank transfer having been made! What about the £5000 pounds they have had from us in our account for the past 3 weeks?!

All this while, the exchange rate has been getting worse and they are now requesting us to make yet another transaction at a really low rate through no fault of our own or write an email to request for the money back! What about the time and interest we have lost? What about the delay they have caused in these funds reaching India due to which we now need to bear additional costs at our end? While they have been earning a good interest on our money!

This is absolute harassment and theft of our funds. I would not recommend this service to anyone. Please be cautious and use a more established service to ensure you have your peace of mind than have to go through something like this again.

WorldRemit a london based scam

World remit is a organized scam that is run from London. They are effective during the first few transactions and then they leave you at the mercy of their scamming team.Beware of these Nigerians, they are now based in London, Canada, Australia and USA.Gone are the days when scammers were based overseas in Nigeria. Guys the scammers are in town and have obtained the necessary permits and registrations. If I were you I would use other law abiding companies like Western Union.Dont get scammed

Used World Remit for the first time and only after charging my card, let me know that my account was not approved with some [censored] claim. Not according to terms & conditions. Saying they're going to refund "later". That's pure fraud. Systematically luring new clients testing their services, taking their money, keeping til charge back hits them. Scammers. Used Moneygram for many years without anything like this. Stay away!

I don't understand these comments. I've used World Remit 10-15 times a month for many years to send money overseas, both to bank accounts and mobile money wallets, and it's hardly ever failed. I'd say they are every bit as reliable as major banks. They ask the same security questions as the banks to verify your identity, for a very good reason. International money transfer companies like Western Union and World Remit attract an unusually high level of card fraud. Fraudsters often attempt to use stolen credit cards. Money launderers try to make large overseas transfers. In my experience, which is pretty substantial, on the rare occasions anything has gone wrong World Remit tries to remedy problems quickly and politely. Refusing to give a financial institution basic security info like your date of birth is going to create problems, not solve them!

This company, worldremit, is a fraud company.
They are unable to do complete any transactions.
They take money out of your account/credit card and keep it for a long time without completing the transfer transaction.
They customer care is the worst I have ever seen. They do not even tell you that your transaction is not going to be completed.
You need to call them up personally to ask the reason for the problem.
And then they give you some lame excuse for not doing the job.

Even after providing all my personal details, they were unable to complete my funds transfer from italy to india.
I wrote numerous mails to their customer service email id but no one bothered to ever write back.

Please keep away from this fraudulent site...

On 7/12/2021, I tried to send $600 to my niece in Vietnam to help a friend in need. After my order was paid, it seems WorldRemitly is trying to delay the transaction by hijacking and invaliding my niece recipient details to make them invalid, probably to justify their reason of processing delay. When I enter their site to investigate, I found out some of my provided recipient details have been messed up - so I wrote a complaint to Remitly, asking them to fix the wrong information. I also came to my CBA bank to warn them about a $85.19 unauthorized transaction for purchasing a game (I am now 78 years old and have never bought a game in my life) that happened just after I paid Remittly. The bank is looking at it and told me to wait for a few more days.

I am willing to wait for 1 more week to see if my niece can get the money soon. If not I will have to cancel the transaction and ask CBA to intervene to get all my money back. In that case, of course I have to warn all my friends on Facebook about the behavior of this company

I guess this will be a waste of time because of the recent reviews about Worldremit. I was scammed on Tuesday by some arsehole mongrel for over $3000 from my credit account. He must have registered me in your company and scammed me. You must know who he is and his account details. I guess it is too late to get my money back. I chatted to Worldremit last night and they were going to get back to me on my email, but all I got was to get an app on my phone to put money into Worldremit. I am a pensioner and have no money to do this and why would I need to. Someone from your organization was going to look into the scam and help me out, but I guess that won't happen, especially now as it is 2 days ago now. It seem I may have to contact the Ombudsman to see what they can do. Wendy

It seem to me by the reviews that this will be a waste of time. Looks like another scam. I was scammed on Tuesday evening by a very clever arsehole mongrel who took 2 amounts of money from by credit card which I have taken 3 years to pay off. I am a pensioner and have limited funds and live from week to week.I contacted Worldremit last night and someone was going to pass my complaint on a relevant superivsor, then get back to me, but I only got an email to get an app for depositing money into Worldremit which I do not want to do. I am not a client of Worldremit. the amount was over $3000 I am so upset that not-one can help me. Wendy

WorldRemit I can't get my money back

The company World Remit charged me for $157. I called to their customer services and explained that I haven’t bought from them and they simply stole from me. The rep excused and told that they had some technical problems, but he assured me that I would get my money back. I believed to this jerk, but after that I haven’t received my money back. They are liars and thieves, but I have no idea how to get money from these jerks. Please, if someone here had the same experience, can you help to return money back?

WorldRemit worst ever experience with money transfers...

To write all my issues with worldremit would make this posting as long as war and peace. There are, however, some similarities to tolstoys's book.
I am at war with worldremit and I dont foresee any peace.

I have tried to contact these invisible people on many occasions to resolve a money transfer matter.

* no response to emails
* an answering service for their australian number
* an auto mated answering service that sends you in circles until you get so dizzy you just hang up
* then this service suggests you send an email to which you get no response

This was my first experience with these people... Definitely my last.!
I doubt this matter will ever be resolved.

My one word of advice... Stay well clear of worldremit!
Maybe a name change is in order... Try... World regret... Its more suited to the way they handle customers.

WorldRemit don't use their services

Hello,

I would like to bring my experience with worldremit into your notice, first time i used worldremit on 21st dec 2012 to send £200 to an indian bank account (Worldremit transaction no is: [protected]) and ask my family to check their bank on friday 28th dec 2012, i don remember but after two or three days later i thought to check status online, and it was showing something like waiting for bank to transfer money, i called worldremit to ask is there any problem some ‘customer unfriendly’ cs guy (Forget his eastern european name) took my call and asking me my personal dtls like date of birth etc, i asked him just to know status of my transaction why you need my date of birth while i am giving you my user id, my transaction dtls, amount even my bank account from i transfered the money into worldremit account, and very rudely he said ‘do you want to send money or not’ then i asked him to speak to his supervisor and he said i am the supervisor, i thought if supervisor is like this how other staff would be, then i thought its no point speaking to him lets check with my bank why they have not transfer my money into worldremit account, i phoned my bank and they confirmed that money is already paid into worldremit, after that i was relaxed that now money will transfer to india any day by end of month.

On 28th dec 2012 i was just checking status online and surprisingly status was ‘transaction cancelled’, i immediately called worldremit and again a ‘customer unfriendly’ (Not surprised) cs named ms. Anchea took my call and start asking same personal dtls. I asked her i just want to know why my transaction is cancelled after 8days without informing me or send me an email, what was the problem, and her reply was i wont tell a thing until you give me your date of birth, and she said i will hang - up the phone if you shouting on me, i explained her i am not shouting and just want my answers and she then asking my bank dtls to reverse the money into my bank account, i asked again why you are doing this without giving me a valid reason and she said its in their terms and condition that she have right to cancel any transaction without explanation and i asked can you please send me copy of terms and condition and highlighted the area where its mentioned that you have right is cancel any transaction if customer do not give his date of birth and she disconnected the phone. Later i thought its no point calling her again.

After 5mins i received a mail from marilyn / worldremit to give my bank dtls, i refused and i received another mail from catherine and then marilyn, asking the same my bank dtls, i asked why you can’t transfer my money into india i used your (Worldremit) services to transfer money to india not back into my account and next reply was you abused our staff and i mail her back abused ! What are you talking about i just wanted to know the reason why transaction is cancelled but again she asked me read terms and condition, funny thing was all mails was in so continuation that you can say only one person is replying from different different names (May be ms. Anchea was) , worldremit customer service is certainly needs a customer friendly training, a more polite approach towards customers, worldremit cs approach is s very unprofessional, they sound like they are not happy from employers and working against their own wish.

I kindly ask worldremit, why you need customers all personal dtls over phone and why worldremit have customer unfriendly customer service ! Why worldremit need all personal dtls while using security logo of norton secured powered by verisign, verisign secured, iamtn, ukmta, truste certified privacy on their web site, if some one calling their cs with their name, user id and their transaction id means customer is guanine, worldremit is using so much security so no one can breach into their system then why your cs need to ask so many questions for just to know transaction status or they do not trust their own security ?

If asking personal dtls is in your terms and condition then world remit need to revise their terms and condition and if it’s a requirement from government then why no other service provider asking personal dtls while phone them ?

I was using sendwise for so many years till they stopped their services and i never had this problem, i used some other services and never had any problem,

I am waiting for your reply and if i do not get any satisfactory reply i will contact ombudsman about worldremit way of work, i also planning to use facebook and tweeter to start campaign against worldremit policy or terms and condition to make some customer friendly changes, i am sure there are so many customers have faced the same situation what i have faced, but they switched to some other service providers or just waiting for changes.

I hope to receive positive reply, i already sent whole matter on your website twice but never get any reply so i am posting you this time.

Why you don't have good phone numbers so the money transfer problems can be handled quickly. You will leave people stranded, because they can't get their money. You need to fix that problem. You need to send my forward or return it back to me.

Wanted to transact. Was directed to verify my identity which I did. Ended with a request to change my password. The change was updated. Now for the upteenth time, the response is invalid username or password. So frustrating. Is the company still offering the money transfer service.

For some reason you are preventing mobile money transfers using MTN which is a big inconvenience, is this a permanent arrangement that you are no longer dealing with MTN?

I have tried using the mobile money service twice on Monday the 3rd July and today the 4th of July.
