this is the second complaint i have written about this company. they try to say i didn't cancel before the deadline when i knew i did. i got a different debit card so they couldn't rob me anymore. they called my work and boyfriend saying that they made a mistake and owed me money. when i called them back they stated that i still owed them money and that my account is delinquent. F that! this is such a SCAM! they only try to get money out of you! for anyone and everyone who thinks about getting in business with this company..DO NOT! it will only cause you stress time and money. it is not worth it. now i have to pay a few grand in attorneys because they are being ###s. but i guarantee when everything is all said and done it will be worth it. i hope this helps.

Viking Magazine Service called to offer me a subscription plan to a few magazines. Generally, I never respond to these types of programs because they often hijack the consumers...For some reason, I deviated from my usual practice and fell for the bait...After several months, I decided that I was not getting maximum use out the subscriptions. I contacted Viking to cancel my subscription. They informed me that I can not cancel the subscription without fear of penalty such as my account with them being put into collection! If I had ordered these publications directly from the publishers, then I would be able to cancel the order...however Viking only allows for a cancellation within the first 14 days...I will be writing the publishers letting them know that associating their brands with this type of behavior is no way to develop reader loyalty.

I want to cancel my subscription call to canceled but was told that i had to cancel within the 14 days. I told them know one every told me that and they should listen to the taped recording of our phone conversation, no one ever contacted me back but they are still billing me for the magazine.

I called viking magazine before the first month was out to cancel my usage of having the magazine. I was told that if I called before the 2nd month that I would be allow to cancel. I spoke on the phone with someone and she was trying to convince me to keep the magazines when I told her I didn't want it. Now there are the collection agency calling me for 300.oo that I do not owe. i was told by the collection agency that I had to cancel the magazines in a 72 hour but I do not remeber them telling me that, all I remember was what I stated before. I'm 25 years old with a child, really need someone to help me resolve this issue because I don't have this kind of money to give freely, when I have ask not to further involve with this magazine company from the beginning. I have collection agencies call me at home and on my job, where I could loose it and that's just not fair because its not my fault. please please help me, thanking you in advance
I have made the three payment of 47.99 and i still haven't received the first magazine yet and they told me i can not cancel .they take the money straight out of my checking account. all i what is to stop paying every month . for something im not getting.

I have had the same problem as the women that wrote the last complaint. I have called them numerous times asking them to cancel. They keep telling me the same thing, that i cant cancel. I have had enough of them. Not only is it a bunch of crap that they supposedley cant cancel, but im tired of all the harrassing calls to me and my mother in law. personally if i knew they were going to be like this I would have never even thought about going through them. I am like the other women, only they are telling me that i owe them more than $300. One thing that really ticks me off is that payments were supposed to be taken out on a certain day. They had taken out two payments in one day then turned around and took out another one a couple days later.

I keep getting phone calls from them, telling me I can't cancel and if I don't pay they will send it to collections! I explained to them I am not working and have to feed my children. They said I owe them 825.00.For magazines, are you kidding me? They said I committed myself to five years! Well they kept calling me and calling me, and each time I thought it was to confirm my order,so maybe I wasn't paying close attention to what was being said. There has to be a way out of this mess!

They have called me a liar on the phone, rude, and then went as far as saying I must have a problem with the male sex...REALLY, I love the male sex. I have never ever dealt with such rude people in my life, and I am paying them, guess the joke is on me. They will not get another dime of my money, so collections here I come, don't even care about that anymore. A company that insults their paying customers, well shame shame on them. Just would have liked to been in the Viking building when I got the call. I have no issues with paying any bill that I owe but, for someone to tell me im playing stupid, telling me im a liar, etc, one of us would have left the building with some professional help. Ridiculous the way they think they should have to talk to anyone like that.
A few months back I had an email about receiving a Walmart gift card so I went on and tried to sign up for it. About twenty minutes later I am receiving a call from Viking Magazine. At first I thought hey this is a good deal to get these multiple magazines. I went thru the whole process thinking it was all legit. I then spoke with my husband about it and he brought me back to reality that we honestly could not afford to get the magazines ordered. I tried to call right back to cancel the order and the lady said I had to speak with the person I spoke with to have it canceled and she would have him call me back. I never received a call back from them. I have received several calls and letters and each time I tell them I want to cancel the order because I/we can not financially afford it they keep saying its past the cancelation period and it will be put into collections and labeled as refusal to pay. Darn strait I refuse to pay almost 1, 000$ for just 4or5 magazines. Now that I am reading all of these comments about how all of you have, like myself, been taken in by these scam artists, . I'm glad I canceled my card before they where able to get any money out of me.
I WAS JUST ABLE TO CANCEL! IF YOU ARE LOCATED IN WISCONSIN THERE IS A LAW THAT STATES YOU CAN NOT ENTER A VERBAL CONTRACT FOR A PERIOD FOR GREATER THAN A YEAR. BECAUSE THE "VERBAL CONTRACT" IS FOR MORE THAN A YEAR THE WHOLE CONTRACT IS NULL AND VOID UNLESS YOU SIGN A PAPER CONTRACT. I just received an email stating that my subscription was cancelled and I will no longer be charged.
I ordered the magazines from Viking (country living, country homes, Victorian Homes, Everyday with Rachel Ray) and I have not received these magazines (except for Everyday with Rachel Ray). I have been paying for these magazines for months. I have been receiving obscure magazines that I have never heard of before.
I called and said that I was cancelling my subscriptions to these magazines and the customer service rep. (Jason) screamed at me that he was going to turn this over to a collections agency. He told me that I could not get out of this for any reason.
I finally got a call from someone else at Viking, who has had some training in public relations, and she told me that she will take care of it and I will be getting the magazines that I ordered. I thanked her and I put the rest of the payments on my credit card.
Today, a male from Viking called and with a very broad Minnesota accent (so broad it was really like someone making a joke of the accent) asked me if I was happy with my dealing with Viking. He also asked me if I would name off the magazines, once again, that I wanted. I hung up on him, because I could tell it was a joke. He called back and asked what magazines I wanted. He told me that I could not hang up on him!
This is so rediculous. Don't these people who work for Viking have anything better to do than to make crank phone calls?
I would say that this is a very unprofessional group of people who work for Viking. I willl NEVER order magazines from Viking again!
I ordered magazines in Jan.2010 but cancelled by phone before the grace period in Feb.2010. My checking acct was debited in Feb. and again in Mar. and customer service said I can't cancel my subscription by phone. I have to pay the $1ooo for the magazines even though i haven't recieved the first one. I'm out $150 dollars but the main thing is that they are overdrafting my acct which cost $35 each time they attempt to take money from me. Now my only course of action is to change my acct so it won't keep costing me the $35 fee per attemt to collect money for nothing. That is what I received from Viking. Nothing but a "BILL". I am considering contacting my atty because i haven't even received a contract from them. I know it seems trivial. Its only $150 but what do you do when a company wrongs you won't give you an oppurtunity to settle a disbute with them. I'm a professional and I'm glad my co' "New York Life" doesn't treat its clients like this. I know I don't.
There's no way to get out of this. The service sucks. they even sent me half naked women magazines, I'm not a lesbian please! They told me they're extras at no cost...?Bull for $60 a month they are, fishing magazines; what the heck, I'm no old man or weirdo either, and the actual magazines I received are actually have not come yet. I got lay-off thanks to absolute stupid people who can't handle their expensenses neither, but the goverment will close them eventually. Believe me they can be sued, but since I'm stuck with this magazines the best thing is to call them and change your selection every other month, since they're always late you'll receive double selection for what your paying them for so if I'm already stuck with them and they'll be stuck with my constant change of order. I will not be losing is them because they already payed the other companies get it! By the end of year I'll move to another state, and leave my accounts under my husband's name and since changing my name and putting a warning of identity theft with the IRS protects you, they will not find me and they have nothing on paper and everything is erased after 15 years, so no worries.
My wife started receiving calls asking for me saying they wanted to confirm my order. When I finally spoke to them and told them not interested the guy continued to go on about payment. I told them I could not afford it and the next thing I know they are charging my bank account money and I never agreed to service. They need to stop or I a, filing a lawsuit.

They signed me up to get these magazines without asking me they just called me and told me that i was getting 5 magazines and they just take the payments out of my bank account and i haven't even gotten any of the magazines yet and it has been over two months. If i am paying for something since they are taking the money right out of my bank account i should damn well be getting something for it and i have gotten nothing i am not pleased with this company. They don't deliver what they say there going to.

These people tried taking the money out before I got paid then hit me with a 93$ bill for late feed when I paid them same day they tried to take the money these people are a huge waste of time and a scam I will be contacting the military jag office to get them black listed so they can't do business with military personnel anymore
FYI... I used to manage a magazine company; the above statement by 'supervisor' is a lie, the magazines are not "pre-paid", they're paid for on a spread with the clearing house at a fraction of what you're being charged. it is a scam, people are 'strong armed' into a bogus contract and then threatened with "this will go on your credit record" blah, blah, blah... if you decide to cancel. Well believe me, go ahead and cancel, call your credit card company or your bank and stop the automatic payments. They will not report you to any credit bureau no matter how many times they tell you they will. In fact when they say they're going to report you just say, good... i look forward to it, and if you ever call here again I'm calling the police... ha, ha, ha. The whole business model is the epitome of a win/lose sale... the company wins, the customer loses; these types of telemarketing scams are dying a slow death and will hopefully soon be a thing of the past... unfortunately not soon enough.

I work for Viking Magazine as a closer/ supervisor (the second phone call you get) . I start every customer of mine off with magazines they choose off the list and then I explain the billing it is done 4 months at a time for the first 15 months of the service leaving the last 45 months without a bill that way if you need to skip a month theres no charge or finance charges. You can't cancel because we pre pay for your 60 mos of magazines and you are told that as well. This is all recorded of the customers agreeing to the terms. Every customer gets the agreement in writin in 3-5 business days and it clearly states no cancellation. We pay ahead and do a payment plan for each customer. I also set up the billing however the customer plans to pay I insert that in the file they check to make sure the payment method is valid before writing out a check to pay for your magazines for 60 mos on top of what ever promo is going on which is currently a 500 dollar shopping spree LEGIT as well... After I fill out a file on each individual basic info just like your cable company asks you to give... You are getting magazines delivered for about a dollar or two per copy where they run 5 bucks at the store so it is a great deal... After I talk with each customer they get a 3rd call from the verification department and they make sure each customer is clear and record them agreeing to the terms... People are lying if they think its a scam everything is clearly explained and they pay with their debit or credit card or bank acct... They pick their own billing days each month and get everything in writing... I feel bad for the people who agree and then try to break a legally binding agreement however we are the best magazine company in the country for many reasons and just because you dont want to hold your end of the bargain dont act like our company is scamming you. If we write out a check locking in a low magazine rate guaranteed to never increase over five years and then you refuse to pay your bill then you are the one trying to get over on our company not the other way around! Don't sign up for a magazine service if you don't plane to pay your bill as scheduled. Your cell phone company locks you into a contracted agreement and if you dont pay that goes to collections too does that make them scams? NO . We're a magazine service if you're interested in having a service in your home then plan to pay the bill too. NO free rides here.
Like everone else, I keep getting magazines that I did not order. My husband and I are 61 years old and we are both diabled. But we get magazines for Sports Diving and a gamer magazine. We only got 1 magazine that we ordered. and That one we have gonen twice now but nun of the otherones. I have tried to call them but I can not fine there phone number
