Union Bank of California charges 35 dollars for every instance of overdraft. We have paid hundreds of dollars on our account over the last few years. If we are over drawn 7 dollars they charge 35 dollars on it, then an atm fee will go through after that and we are charged an additional 35 dollars on that fee. They often credit multiple ATM fees long after the ATM use and if you are over drawn each is an additional 35 dollars. we have not been using our account, we left an extra 50 dollars in the account. The Banks fees slowly ate at the money in the account and then they began charging over draft fees. After leaving money in the account and not then not using the account at all I am suddenly faced with a 105 dollar over draft fee. I have, of course, paid the overdraft and closed our account.

DO NOT USE UNION BANK - the over draft fees are criminal.

Erratic/Irregular account updating leading to overdrafts/charges. I have been unable to get clarification as to which account inquiry is most accurate, ie; automated drive through, online inquiry or by phone. Also various cut-off times in posting deposits to accounts. Has been from 1-3 business days before deposits have been credited to my account.

I agree that Union Bank has the worst customer service. Wondering why they have a customer service if they don't know at all the answers and resolutions to customers complaints. I was one who is very dissatified with their customer service. I have a flex equity line of credit with automatic payments. I received my statement and Union bank were charging me a penalty and sent me a note for penalty for non payments of my line of credits. I called up the customer service and implied to them that I am on automatic payments and told them the payments was debited on my checking. the associate cannot resolved my problem spending so may hours explaining my situations and the customer service hangup with me. So I called back and talk to several associates and finally I was able to talk tbo the manager and resolved the issue that I was right and they will waived the penalty they charged me. It took them almost a month before they reverse the penalty. Would you believed an automatic payment receiving penalty. Another instance that until now is not being resolved yet is my interest rate and terrm adjustment That I requested since August was not processed yet. when I talk to them over the phone before I applied for interest rate and term adjustment they told me that it will take only the most is 5-7 business day. So I called up on August 31, to make sure that my request has been processed and received which was confirmed to me by the of customer care Maria. Upon receiving my statements, my requests were not taken into consideration. I called them up and give the details of my request and I was told that they never received my request that I faxed to their branch office. They told me to refax again my request and and put a rush on my letter which I did at the supervisor told e that it will be processed in 3 business day. Now it is oct 2nd and until now my flex equity interest rate and term adjustment has been processed yet and they already take out the payments from my checking account at an original amount instead of the adjusted request. I requested this so I could have a lower monthly payments cause I am out of work. I never had a problem like this with my other banks. The worst, worst customer service in the world.I wish that the management of this department be improved and calling them is just like the government offices that you have to wait an hour and over.

Look at all the top banks quarterly reports; banks #1 source of revenue is Overdraft Fees. What is the $35 fee for anyways, is it punishment for making a mistake? Any company that wants to 'punish' their own customers is a [censor] company. If they are making that much revenue from Overdraft fees, they WANT you to make mistakes, thats how they make money. Take a look at Ally Bank (formerly GMAC Bank), they only charge $9 for overdraft fees. Stay away from greedy banks like Union Bank and Bank Of America that punish their own customers.

Union Bank of California is a rip off. They give inaccurate information, and you get inconsistencies from their employees. One person will tell you one thing and the next time you go there you cant do what the other person said was okay. They need better training for their employees. I left US Bank to bank with Union Bank because of their convenient hours... turns out their not so convenient after all. I went back to US Bank where things are normal, and consistent across the board!
