Uhaul accident
My vehicle was struck by a uhaul. The incident was captured on my security cameras. I forwarded the video to the claims person. The video is very straight forward. I am told it is still under investigation and am unable to reach the person handling my claim. If I don't hear back from someone soon, I will be filing a complaint with the better business bureau as well as contacting an attorney

Paying out on claims
I had a hitch installed on 7/8/2020 with UHaul. Filed claim on 7/9/2020. Submitted pictures along with estimates. Have had 3 companies tell me hitch isn't installed properly and they exceeded their installition steps and damaged my vehicle with crocked cuts. Today is 9/8/2020 still not resolved. They tried to tell me to take their Estimate of Record along with a $ 609.43 check to a body shop. The three bids came back at $1, 726.14, $ 1, 331.43 and $ 3, 182.91, I returned the check for $ 609.43. I have emailed with no response 5 times since then. I sent a picture of the check saying "Return to Sender" I want my vehicle repaired.

Safe tow
my vehicle was connected incorrectly and the vehicle is low profile so boards should of been placed under my front tires. They weren't done since man said noy needed. Then it came time to take my car off and the boards were need uhaul said at the drop off location. They messed my front end up & refusing to pay.
stolen property from storage unit
I rented a unit at this location for about 8 months and never had any issues until the end. While moving my stuff out from the storage, someone decided to steal an entire stack of my shoes (totaling $1400 for retail value, resale is about 2X the amount). Some were gifts and the others were purchased years ago so they are either no longer available or you have to pay 2-3X the retail value to buy them! I spoke with the manager and advised him of the incident. He reviewed the cameras (which are ONLY by the doors, not the actual units) and did not see anything I advised him that no one who is stealing is going to walk out the doors displaying them, nor will they move them while we are still at the location. I said they could have covered them up or even put them in their own storage. As I suspected, when he viewed the cameras, there was nothing there. I had it escalated to the insurance company (I purchased insurance for my belongings just in case something happened) and they tell me there is nothing they can do about it because there was not a forced entry. Even though it happened at their facility AND I paid insurance on my unit MONTHLY, there was nothing they can do about it! I trusted them with my belongings and this is the kind of customer service I receive. This complaint is more towards the insurance company as I KNOW there is always something they can do to resolve a situation like this.
I would like for the U-Haul to find ALL of my shoes OR I would like the money paid back to me for what was stolen ON THEIR PROPERTY, NOT DISMISSING THE FACT THAT I WAS PAINING FOR INSURANCE TO COVER ISSUES LIKE THIS!
repairs to my car
On 11/14/19 i was at a red light and was hit by a uhaul truck. The Driver got out and apologize and gave me his information. I contacted the uhaul and they told me to contact Repwest Insurance Company. I contacted them and they gave me the person name who was gone to handle my claim by the name of Kelly. I spoke with kelly and she told me to send pictures of my car and damage to her. She also stated that she spoke with the driver of the Uhaul who hit me and that RepWest Insurance
was gonna pay for the repairs to my car. I didn't hear anything else from her so i contacted her again on 11/23 to get an update she said the adjustor was backed up and she emailed him and was waiting for him to reply. On 12/2/2019 I have called her and left voice mails to see what the hold up was and she stated that she cant move ahead until she speaks with the person/ by the name i believe is steve to get an estimate on my damages. It is now 12/9 and still i have not heard anything from them! I have called over 20 times. I have never been thru such a hassle. And getting a lawyer will cost me to much. PLEASE HELP
failure to give accurate information regarding a trailer/hitch for a car!
Do not trust Uhaul company. If something happens to your car because of Uhaul employees failing to inform you on what's best for a safe and damage free move, they will completely deny and avoid you until the claim expires or they close it. I went to Uhaul in Concord, CA a week prior to leaving to see if my car could qualify for anything to assist with my move. I told them I was driving from Pittsburg, CA to Norcross, GA and they said my car would be fine and that they had to order a hitch for my car because there was none on site that would accommodate my car. Then they attached the trailer to my 2015 Nissan Versa. My Father and I barely made it to Kingman, Arizona before my transmission blew out and the car completely shut off exiting the freeway do to the weight of the trailer. It took about 10-15 just to keep cutting it on and off to exit the freeway safely. We were stranded and constantly calling uhaul for help. When we finally got someone to help they made me tow my car separately on my insurance and only came to pick up the trailer. Then they made me pay another fee of $667.30 to get a 15footer with a flatbed attached for my car. When I had just paid $645.15 less than 24hours ago for the hitch and trailer they failed to acknowledge wasn't for my car at all. I filed a claim with Repwest Insurance and was told needed a diagnostic test to prove my transmission was damaged do to their trailer. Gave them all what they asked for and I still got the run around for 10 months and in that time I've gotten my car repossessed for $9286.39 (defiance fee), spent $1311.88 in lyft and $2047.24 in uber rides just to get back and forth to work. Plus having to pay a car note for $466.89 and insurance for $139.19 for 2 months of not being to drive my car before it was taken because it would cut off and make knocking noises if driven. I sent numerous emails and complaints from every which way and been calling non stop, but nothing. They keep denying and avoiding me and now since I don't have the car they are claiming that there is no proof at all that anything was wrong with the car. And now they have closed the case and refuse to respond back. The manager from Concord, CA (James) and the one in Kingman, Arizona were the only two who said Uhaul knows better than to put a hitch and trailer on anything and that James would have told me no and to find another way if he had of been at work that day. He was the only one who owned up to the negligence of Uhaul. NEVER EVER RENT ANYTHING FROM UHAUL. TAKE YOUR CHANCE AND MAKE A TRIP TWICE ACROSS THE COUNTRY OR USE ANOTHER COMPANY. DO NOT RISK YOUR LIFE AND EMOTIONAL, MENTAL AND FINANCIAL STABILITY!
insurance policy and unprofessional attitude and ignorance of the agent
I have submitted a claim to repwest about water leak in the u-haul truck as results damaging an expensive sound equipment. When I returned the truck to final destination I brought the water leak issue to the agent's attention but he refused to listen and suggested I make a claim to repwest. So I did it. Repwest agent acted unprofessionally, ignoring my calls, delaying responses via e-mail in the acceptable time frame. Finally, I got lucky after many attempts to speak with the agent, she informed me that they won't cover the damage of my property caused by water leaks in the u-haul rental truck and I have to deal with it by myself, suggesting to contact initial rental office. And this is after I purchased savemove insurance at the first place which indicated cargo protection - coverage for your possessions. Insurance agent stated that there is no water leaks reported by the office of destination which refused to listen to my complaint. Alarming enough, that I brought water leak issue to attention of the agent of u-haul office of destination but agent refused to listen to my complaint. Is this kind of scheme?
insurance
Do not waste your money on this insurance. Total rip off. I was advised to pick up this insurance to cover my storage units at Safe Harbor boat and RV storage. One of my units was burglarized and a golf cart was stolen. The storage facility assured me everything would be ok with me having insurance on the unit. They were wrong. My claim was denied with them saying they do not cover motorized vehicles. First of all, it's an electric golf cart that runs off of batteries and is not motorized at all. Secondly, they are selling this insurance at a BOAT AND RV storage where practically everything stored there worth anything is motorized! Also, do not expect to talk to anyone, especially "Melinda Stec", because they never answer their phones. "Supervisor Dan Raines" is also in on their scam insurance. Wish I had done my homework and seen that they have a D- rating with the BBB and not a positive review to be found anywhere. They are crooks and should be shut down.
uhaul insurance storage claim
Started claim around June. They sent someone out the yired and they did not go through storage just looked at the door and said a mattress was ruined and a rug and gave me a check for one mattress when clearly I had a whole storage full of water damaged items from a storm roof leak I have insurance on. so Rep West Dave Corbitt and his supervisor said they would send me a supplemental check and send someone else out because they only gave me a check from one mattress because tge adjuster they sent out the first time failed to look at anything at all.. so they they sent out another person in november and a hurricane category 5 came through during this time and I filed another claim as I was waiting on someone to come out still on the original because no one went through our items in storage at all So he hired someone after Me complaining alot and in November 2018 I went through items with the adjustor or assesor and they still are ignoring ohr emails and calls . The storage items are ruined lots of mold mildew and everything ruined... Our beds and sofa and clothing childrens toys memorabilia and etc. all ruined my whole home was in there. They are still ignoring us. The pictures they took was over 132 and they did not take pics of every little thing .. we had too many items and were being rushed. They wanted me to throw everything away but no dumpster and no check no nothing. I still pay 120.00 a month on that storage unit and still no check no phone call no email no text. I was told by one person he hired Jill in december that she was getting in touch with Dave on Monday and still now it is Jan. 12 .2019 no response. .. We have no furniture only 4 beds that I just bought with my monthly income and toys and clothing but Nothing from Repwest
my broken and damaged items
Rep west insurance is a joke.
They act like they care, sound fake, as soon as they get the claim, they say they're working on it and without looking
They deny it.
They think people that deal with Uhaul are stupid, worst insurance ever.BUYERS BEEARE.
Do not buy RepWest insurance from Uhaul .
In July 2018, I had a long distance move with three unboxes. It was about 500 miles.
Not sure st what point the Uhaul truck damaged my items but I felt safe I had insurance.
Not in this case.
RepWest got all the details and very quickly denied every putting the blames on paneers.
Uhaul has chosen tbebpackers too.
Big scam.
Lost around $4000
storage unit
ON October 14, 2015 I submitted a claim to Repwest Insurance company as I was told to do by the manager at Uhaul storage. The insurance company had removed furniture, beds etc. from our unit without our permission. They contacted us after they had done it asking us to meet them at Uhaul to discuss our claim.. When we arrived they were gone and the manager took us to a 26 foot uhaul truck that was full of our belongings. We were told that everything had been destroyed and must be removed from the unit. We were assured that the insurance company would be contacting us and we would be compensated for our things "not to worry, that Uhaul and Repwest were going to make it right". Our claims adjuster replied to my initial claim by email giving me the list they had made of our destroyed and kept items, which was not correct. Several items were missing from the list all together- our new pillowtop king size bed for one. She asked me to right down the value of all of the items. I did this and sent it back to her she claimed she could not open it. The next day I sent it again as well as faxed it to the insurance main office. I never heard back from her, when I contacted Repwest they informed me that our case had been closed due to non response or non pursuit. I denied that claim, the evidence of the fax was in our file so the case was reopened - but there remains no contact from our claims adjuster. I have called numerous times and all they will tell me is that our insurance policy did not cover flood. My husband contacted the Uhaul manager and he informed us that everyone had been paid except us and 2 more families and that someone would contact us immediately. No one ever did so my husband called the same manager back and now he says there is nothing that he can do. So...$10, 000 worth of furniture was taken from our unit and there is nothing they can do. We have done everything possible, even as far as to not hold them responsible for the 100 year old antique vanity that's been handed down in our family but just to figure replacement cost for new vanity. We should have called the police and filed a report when our things were removed and it looks like that may be what we have to do. We didn't see any mildew, we couldn't really see anything except a truck packed full of our belongings. This insurance company is a scam and should not be allowed to take from people anymore. Not only did they take money from us every month for a policy but also 10, 000 worth of furniture has just disappeared from a storage unit that we had to pay for every month. This is a very serious matter - from what I can see we are not the first people to be scammed and taken advantage of by this company. Someone please help put a stop to this injustice!
claim for property damage caused by uhaul rental
Summary of occurance:
On Saturday, 28 March 2015, at 2:20pm EST, a Uhaul Rental Truck #TT4138D, Arizona License Plate #AE-16685, operated by Ronald W. Lajeunesse of 338 Runyon Avenue, Middlesex, NJ, on the property of Eastern PA Self Storage Facilities, located at 3813 Hecktown Road, Easton, PA. While driving the Uhaul truck, Mr. Lajeunesse turned onto the access road between storage Building G and Building H. Our vehicle was parked along the Building G where we were loading our vehicle from our storage unit. The left rear box portion of the Uhaul rocked while Mr. Lajeunesse was making his turn and scrapped against our parked vehicle. AS the box truck rocked, scraping our vehicle, it also collapsed the driver side mirror which then punctured the door molding.
There were damages sustained to the front left fender, wheel well, mirror and the door molding. Paint from the Uhaul Box Truck is on the fender, wheel well and mirror. Mr. Lajeunesse continued to drive away from the scene. Upon noticing the damage to our vehicle, my husband immediately got into our vehicle and proceeded to flag Mr. Lajeunesse down inorder to exchange information. There were no other witnesses to the occurrence other than myself and my husband aside from the security cameras located at the corner of Building G and Building H. Being that we were on private property at the time of the accident, the police were not called to the scene.
As of Monday, May 4, 2015, RepWest made an arbitrary determination that the damage to the mirror and door molding was unrelated to the event. We were not contacted nor notified that a determination excluding the mirror was being considered. The only contact with the Claims Adjustor for RepWest was the initial phone call notifying them of the incident, and the email submitting requested photos and estimate. We became aware of RepWest's determination as a result of us calling them to get an update on the status of our claim. Dissatisfied to find out their decision, we inquired as to an appeal process and were informed that there is nothing we can do, unless we contact our own insurance company and have them dispute the decision on our behalf. This decision by RepWest was arbitrary and capricious.
Looking for some advice on how to proceed to recover the full damages to our vehicle.
claim is not resolved no status provided
I submitted a claim on 5 / 27 / 11 and they have not tried to resolve the claim, i had stored 10 set of mattresses at uhaul at whitehall store on the room 1330 and the roof had a leak and all the mattresses got wet and damaged and there is a meg willauer supposely working on the claim but is not returning my phone calls i spoke with the manager dave horn and he stated on 6 / 8 / 11 that he will check on the claim and return my phone call and today is 6 / 13 and he did not return my phone call yet. As per the uhaul store in whitehall they have no idea of nothing and they supposely can't do anything for me. The manager on 5 / 27 stated he was going to move the mattresses for the storage unit to keep them dry until the investigation is done but did not do what the promised.
I slipped getting out of the cab and my Girlfriend rented it she didn't buy the insurance and I don't have auto insurance fractured fibula and tibia had to get plates and screws. Rep west denied my claim as did her insurance. What can I do. Please Help
We brought our brand new van to U-Haul, because they claimed to be the master of hitch installation, which is very ironic because they did the Exact opposite. They told us the part would take 14 business days to order, so we could not bring our boat on vacation (which was kind of the point) the following Saturday. So they had not called us back at all, after 45 days I called them and they said the part was ready to come in and have it installed, as I did the following day. I left my van there because it was to take two hours, when I returned the installer informed me that he had to remove my exhaust system to make it fit. Then when I saw the hitch it looked like it belonged on a dump truck! Keep in mind the van was ONE month old. So my husband told them to remove it. When they did, they ripped it off and cut the wires! And left us on our way with no working signals. We had to pay the dealership for all repairs to our new vehicle. I wrote a letter to the corporate office with an explanation of how unqualified, rude, and also vandalistic their employees are, not one person ever got back to me. The owner of the shop itself told us to go ahead and complain to anyone we like, it would not matter. How's that for customer service. I believe U-Haul should pay us for all the added expenses caused by their lousy work! And the way I learned that all my wires we're cut, is that someone informed me I had no brake lights, and that is how U-Haul sent me on my way, as I passed the billboard in their driveway, We are the experts in hitch installation.
U- haul is a bunch of thieves . . I bought u-haul blankets for 6 dollars a piece (5 of them) used them once, and tried to return for the offered monies back. I was in shock when the little man behind the counter took the blankets in the back room, did not give me my money back . When i asked for the blankets back he threatend me with the police, saying I was threatening and the blankets were U-haul property . I should have stayed for the police but who needs the hassle? I will never use u -haul again due to the rudeness and misrepresentation of service . Shame on you U- Haul
We have rented trucks from this location twice, and both times the agent (Josh? Agent signature #30534) was very rude. We shouldn't have gone back the second time, but we were in a hurry and the location was closest to us. "Josh" avoided eye contact and acted like a *** at the desk, as well as out front when we asked him to empty the truck of trash and wash the side-view mirrors that were so dirty, they would have been a driving hazard. The whole truck was VERY dirty and the air in the cab didn't work properly: it only blew on our feet. I called Josh to ask if it was broken and he said, "Without seeing it, I don't know." I don't believe him, especially after he tried to pass off a dirty, garbage-filled truck as appropriate! "Josh" also listed the gas tank as being more full than it actually was: he wrote "15/16" but the gage was closer to the halfway mark between 3/4 tank and full. Also, we bought a roll of packing tape there that turned out to be SO THIN, it curled up and broke apart like the cheapest scotch tape on the market -- useless! Before we took the truck, "Josh" put a $75.00 hold on my card, and my receipt said it was only an authorization hold, not a charge... but when I returned the truck, and the total fee came to $57.76 and he STILL CHARGED MY CARD $75.00! I had a feeling he was screwing around with me, so I asked if he had released the hold and charged me the correct amount. He was annoyed and said, "I charged you $75.00 and gave you a refund for the difference." I asked how long it would take for the refund to post and he snapped: "I just put it through. How long your bank takes to process it is how long it will take. It could take 7 to 10 days." What!? What a ***! He should have canceled the hold and charged me the CORRECT amount! So, from his horrible attitude, to the filthy, broken-air truck, to the scam on the gas gage and over-charging me, WE WILL NEVER STEP FOOT INSIDE EMPIRE UHAUL AGAIN! And what's with the $1 environmental fee? I read the explanation for it on the Uhaul website, and it still didn't make sense. We will avoid renting from Uhaul -- any Uhaul -- from here on in... we'd rather pay our relatives with vans and trucks than contribute to a business that allows JERKS to work for them and scam their customers.
I rented a UHaul Truck from this location. After reserving a truck through their national website, and being given an address to pick the truck up, I had to travel to 3 other locations before I was able to find, or get help to find the correct location. I rented the truck at 6:30pm. I called the location the following day at 6:45pm. I spoke with the gentleman who checked the truck out to me. At that time I explained I didn't know that I was going to make it by 7pm. He told me not to worry, as long as I have the truck there before 7AM, I wouldn't be charged additionally. I received my bill and was charged additionally.
I called the location. The GM Susan Fuller answered the phone. I explained what had happened and that I'd been over charged. She proceeded to explain that I was trying to take advantage of the situation, and that she had no more time to talk to me about this petty matter. I asked if there was anyone else that I could talk to, and she told me that she was the GM/owner, and that there was no one else.
I am looking for an apology for bad customer service, as well as a refund for the charges of overages of $49.11.
I contacted the company Uhaul A1 Way and was really upset, because they staff was so rude with me. I have no idea why. They spoke with me in rude manner and asked to provide money only in cash, after that they refused to return it. I don’t know I really want money back and forget that I ever have any deals with these ###. Maybe someone has any ideas how to return money back, please contact me then or leave a comment. Thanks.
Repwest is earning their keep by not paying justified claims. They kept me on hook for 6 weeks and finally mailed a letter saying the claim was not valid. Attached pics tell the story
Well, what do ya' know? Affirmative Action does really work, as I tried the Email of the dedicated employee, and stirred up the flame a bit. Anyways, DO NOT give up Hope on your claim being not settled right. I am rescinding my "Being -given- the -run -around" Suspiscions/Avoidance Issues with Repwest Insurance Company, as my truck will soon be repaired. Also, this website is ASTRONOMICALLY helpful, and greatly appreciate the ability to vent my frustrations with "OTHER" concerned customers, Good Luck! Postscript: The pic provided below is me, just a normal blue-collared Bus Driver from Phoenix...
I had everything I owned in a unit in Scranton PA (7/25/15 - 8/3/15) and their roof leaked ruining almost everything in my unit. I'm currently getting the run around by repwest and uhaul. Today an ajuster came to my home and took pictures and said don't get your hopes up, they take forever to payout if they payout at all. I contacted an attorney already and am contacting the insurance commissioner in the morning.
My repwest person refuses to return calls to myself or the manager of uhaul.
I feel just like the others that posted on this website, pertaining to Rep West Insurance Company's intentional avoidance to resolve issues and Claims against their client Uhaul of America. I had rented a Car Hauler, on 8/1/2015, and had the Company's Staff install the trailer on the back of my 2004 Cadillac Escalade, and after this staff person had went through the initial safety checks of checking coupler, and a tailights/signal light checks, give me the "Thumbs Up" to proceed away with such trailer. After I get home, which was a few miles from the rental center, located in Chandler, Arizona, I pulled out the loading ramps, and proceeded to load my Impala show car. Immediately the trailer lifted up, off of the hitch ball, and slammed into the back of my SUV, causing extensive damage to the rear of my taildoor, as you can only imagine what this would cause. I immediately notified Uhauls Emergency tow hotline and the customer service representative "noted" damage to the tow vehicle. Needless to say, it caused $5200.00 in Damage to my SUV, see pics, and I was given a Claim number, but after responding with all requested information by Rep West adjuster, now am getting the "avoidance" reply from their Adjuster, and Do have a really Family Attorney, if needed, but hopefully they will repair my vehicle, as soon as possible, as you can plainly see, the coupler was not tightened on the tow ball hitch, as was agreed upon ith the Uhaul store manager, , , LOL
Unprofessional - horrible company
Similar to another complaint on this site ... i was hit by a U-haul truck ... Renter paid for insurance, was deeply sorry ([censored] happens)... The driver admitedly was 100% at fault . He backed into my car, not used to the large profile of the truck he was controlling . So now i have a car i just bought with body damage to the back left door ... ok down to the problem .
I call Republic Western Insurance Company to start a claim ...I have provided all the info necessary ... including the drivers license number of the individual that hit me ...

Republic Western Rep) when presented with my bill of sale ...i ended up sending them a copy of my title ..
Special investigation unit ... are u kidding me ?
I have called this company 3 times so far(months time) weekdays and weekends received only 1 email accusing me of not owning my vehicle, Have contacted my rep on 1 occasion, so i passed the responsibility to my wife to keep on top of this, as i have no time for the run around .
on the latest instance, she was told that they are investigating rather or not to give us "junk yard price"(-Martha Chester-
Republic Western Rep) of the car instead of paying for the damages inflicted, this being a 2005 car i paid for with cash.
will keep u posted on the next turn of events ... these photos showing the "unrepairable" damage to the car that im offered "Junkyard price" for by Republic Western Insurance Company
ps: on a lighter note i found this interesting article in which it seems there are a lot of complaints regarding u-haul and repwest, and it seems the CEO of u-haul has given his cellphone to the public for complaints ... so id thought i would pass it along ... i will be calling
(The CEO of U haul gave out his cellphone number last night on an episode of Inside Edition, inviting consumers to call with complaints or questions. Joe Shoen explained saying, “People can’t get this organization to behave, I can.” That number is [protected].) - www.bargaineering.com (http://www.bargaineering.com/articles/i-hate-u-haul-truck-rental.html/comment-page-2)

Did calling the CEO get you anywhere? I just called him and he is looking into my claim...
Unprofessional
My car was hit by a UHaul truck early October and there still hasn't been any progress on my claim. Every time I call Republic Western Insurance Company(Insurane company which handles claims on behalf of Uhaul) I get the run around so basically they dont wan't to do the right thing and professionally handle my claim. Matthew Newman was very unprofessional every time I would contact him trying to get answers about the status of my claim.

There was a claim presented to your company claim#([protected]). There was no notification that the claim was settled. Can you please send any information on this matter. I would like a copy of any admissions filed in this claim. Agents intentionally withheld information.

My name is Maria Palmisano and I am with U-Haul International. I contacted Republic Claims Insurance Company regarding the information you relayed. I was informed they sent you a letter explaining they had been unsuccessful in in reaching the driver of the truck. However, they asked that if you are able to obtain any further information, please contact your adjuster so they can resume with their investigation of your claim. I would also like to relay by apology to you for the inconvenience you have experienced.
