I called slomin's to find out if my contract had expired. I was assured by customer service that it had and that I was under no obligation to buy home heating oil from them any longer. I very specifically said "I do not want any more deliveries. I've been paying way too much for too long!"

The customer service rep said that even though the contract expired, “once you’re a slomin’s customer, you’re a customer for life.” I told her that I didn’t want to do business with them anymore and didn’t want an account with them. She said she understood (was very pleasant, in fact) and assured me that I had no deliveries scheduled and would not receive a delivery. I said, “i’m buying oil from another company and want to make sure that i’m not going to come home and find out that slomin’s delivered.” she told me, “we will not deliver. You weren’t on the schedule until after thanksgiving anyway.” I was confident that I wouldn’t be getting oil from slomin’s ever again.

Two days later, I look out my window to find a slomin’s deliveryman pumping oil into my tank! Luckily I was home and I stopped him, but not until he had already pumped quite a bit. I received a bill for on the spot. I immediately called slomin’s customer service and spoke to another rep. She was very courteous and apologized for the mistake and assured me that the billing department would be able to adjust my bill. She said that the woman that I spoke to a couple of days prior did not write on my account to stop deliveries. She saw who I spoke to and when, but did not tell me her name.

A couple of hours later, I got a call from their billing department. Unfortunately, I did not write down the name of the man that called. I was so furious at his demeanor right off the bat that I didn’t think to write it down. The recording at the beginning of the call did tell me that the call was being recorded. I relayed my story and told him that I had ordered oil from another company at 80 cents/gal less and since I had notified slomin’s that I no longer wanted any deliveries (since I wasn’t obligated), I wanted at the very least to have my per gallon price adjusted down.

He told me that he could adjust my bill a little, but only if I locked into a contract price of $2.999 for a year. I told him that I knew that I wasn’t on the schedule until after thanksgiving before I called. I said that once I told customer service that I didn’t want to deal with slomin’s anymore and was going to have another company deliver, they rushed over in two days to fill my tank. He told me that they “moved up the delivery, because they had an opening” and “sorry, but we delivered, so you’re obligated to pay the bill.” he asked if I wanted to cancel my account. I told him I had already done that! Just to be sure, I told him to cancel the account and hung up. I eventually got a letter that states that I cancelled the account.

I was completely and utterly scammed. I could not have been any clearer about not wanting to do business with them anymore. I feel that I am entitled to a full refund since I chose not to deal with them and was very explicit about that fact. At the very, very least, I am entitled to a billing adjustment that I chose to pay with a competitor. I know that they only showed up when they did, because they wanted the sale and knew I was going elsewhere from now on.

Do not do business with slomin's! Do not sign a contract with them!

I did signed for their oil delivery services just about 1.5 months ago and everything was fine. Three days ago I had Slomin's oil delivery truck on my driveway. I came out and said that I do have 1/2 of my tank and they can come in 2 weeks. The driver told me that since he already here he will fill the tank full. Ok, I left for work and only on the next morning checked the level of oil. It was the same 1/2 full. And we found a bill for $315.00. I waited till Monday morning and called them to resolve. The man on the phone has not been helpful at all. The only explanations he had was: "My oil tank is broken" and "I did use the other 1/2 of my oil in these 2-3 days". And he was rejecting any mistake on their end such as equipment, human error, etc. So, I did contact BBB and filed a complain. Go and do make a picture of your oil level daily if you have them as your service company. I do. Will keep you posted.

Slomin's is nothing but a money hungry female attorney who thinks her ### does not stink, well it stinks and badly. Your alarm company is a joke with its consistent problems then your oil service is highway robbery with the never true pricing you supposedly guarantee. Then your central air systems holy cow what a joke the units break down left and right and then you have the nerve to charge for parts that the warranty cover. Well do the world a favor and file bankruptcy no one will ever miss your companies sorry behinds. The flip flopping with your company makes George Bush look like a saint and a caring individual and we all know that like your company is bull. It is amazing how you even lie at the booths you have set up at Roosevelt Field Mall lying to everyone you speak to, I can only wish every single agency comes down on your company hard. You have techs who break parts then claim it is how they found them when there is proof otherwise and you still dare to charge for parts. I could write a novel on how horrible your company is but the world would simply just enjoy watching your family fall into financial ruins and be gone from the area.

I was victimized by slomins also, I had signed a contract at two dollards and change, but when the prreice went up after the contract was over they kept delivering the oil as they have a line where they have the right to deliver even after the contract date. Secondly they should have delivered at the contract pricew but they were charging me above market new contract rate. This year I learned that they were price guaging and we had to send thier guy back after asking what the price is and told him that he can deliver at his own risk as I had no contract. I think there should be a clause in all the iol comany contract with their right to deliver after the contract to deliver at the lower of spot price or the contract price. They should not be able to doubble dip.

I had a contract with Slommins that just expired. They had called me and said that since I did not pay the $284 yearly service fee I had no contract with them anymore therfore I would not be receiving oil from them . I told them I was fine with it and that I was not interested in renewing the contract because another company was offering the oil at more than a dollar less than what my old contract price was and there was no service fee with them. Two days later I got several calls telling me I could downgrade my service charge to a $99 per year plan and get my oil delivered at $2.49 per gallon, I told them no because I had allready spoken to another company and it still was cheaper than what they were offering me. After three calls in one hour from different phone numbers I finally said no but I might think about it. Mind in you in the past I always called for the date of delivery and I was always told that there were no weekend deliveries not even in emergencies and that you had to wait up to three days of when I called for oil to get it. For $284 yearly fee I did get all the emergency problems fixed but I wondered if they were supposed to clean the machine which they never did. Making a long story short I was halfway making arrangements with a new company when I came home on a saturday and saw that they had just delivered at the old price. I called customer service and complained they told me they could not do anything about it but that they were leaving a message for the head of the oil department whom called me the next monday morning. His name was Mr. Salmon, he told me that there was no cancellation of contract and that I was responsible for the bill. When I questioned the all the sudden saturday delivery he said they will deliver the oil whenever they want to even on Sunday that I can't tell them what to do and that I have to pay for the bill. I asked why if a week ago I was told my contract was void since I didn't pay the almost $300 fee why did this happened he explained that it was void as of Monday 12/07/08, therefore it was perfectly fine for them to come on 12/05/08 because they had rights to do what ever they thought was convenient. I explained to Mr. Salmon, that I was in a fixed income and that I always called in for my oil delivery, which he denied I ever did which he basically he called me a liar. Again I questioned the Saturday delivery ( which I was told in the past that the oil delivery department does not work on weekends all the sudden they do)he said that I can't question their judgement. I asked to get an adjustment from $3.2499 to the $2.49 I was offered he said it was no longer that but $2.69 and that to do that I would have to enter into another one year agreement and pay the servicing fee. I asked for his supervisor he said he had no one above him, that he is the supervisor and head of the oil department therefore there was no one else I could speak to basically telling me he had the final saying.I requested for the oil to be pumped out and he said they would do so if I was to pay $150. I told Mr. Salmon, head of the oil department as he identified himself to record me that I don't want another contract with Slommins anymore. I told him that I would call the media so other people would not make the mistake I did, he said that for me to do what ever I wanted and to say he was a nice guy which he was being sarcastic and stupid at the same time. At the end I asked why at the begiining of the conversation I was advised that the conversation is being recorded and every time I spoke to customer service I was also told the conversations were also recorded why couldn't he go back and retrieve the info he had no answer I hanged up because when its not convenient to them the calls never existed as customers we make them up because we have nothing else better to do.
