Rooms Unlimited Waiting 18 weeks for a couch

After moving into our new house, on 2/19/11 my husband and I went shopping for a couch for our living room. We end up purchasing a couch from Rooms Unlimited and are told that the order will take anywhere from 8-10 weeks. At 11 weeks we receive a call saying that our couch is in, we set up a delivery date and we receive a couch that is not what we ordered! Nor is it in the color we ordered. We return to the store the next day and to our surprise, the manager cannot find anything wrong with our order form. For some reason, when the order was entered into the computer after we left the store and paid for the couch, somebody switched the inventory number which is why we got the wrong couch style and color. So the manager promises us that we will receive the couch in 4 weeks. Ok, we can wait. No problem.

4 weeks comes and goes, no couch. 6 weeks pass, no couch. Each time we call the store, they give us a new delivery date. After 8 weeks, my husband shows up in person and speaks to the manager and sales rep who sold us the couch. We receive a written statement saying that our couch will be in NO LATER THAN 6/27. We receive no call so I called Rooms Unlimited today 6/30 and guess what! Our couch won't be in until 7/11 because the manufacturer RAN OUT OF FABRIC! Are you kidding me!? So IF we actually get the couch on 7/11, we will have waited more than 20 weeks for a couch! This is unacceptable and absolutely ridiculous!

Rooms Unlimited Does not deliver

To all potential customers, do not buy furniture from rooms unlimited. This place is a scam. All of the positive posts are from employees of the store. If you want to see all of the problems this place has caused look back between jan and september. That is all real customers with real issues from rooms unlimited.
Do not buy from this store!

Rooms Unlimited customer service

i came on this site to see about the complaints and read there was a petition about this company from someone on this site. i checked out the petition and it is signed by the same people over and over again. this joanne lady signed it 4 or 5 times...this other woman signed it 4 times...and i feel like it was a big waste of my time. i try do do my homework before i purchase from a store and use these sites as a guide line. but thissite is obviously someone with a bad temper looking to get even with this company for something they did to them and i feel bad for you. i did however go on the BBB as suggested as well and they had a B rating. not a bad one...so why would you lie? anyway...i ended up at the store after thouroghly checking them out and ended up with a very good experience. i thought it only fair to post the truth. have a nice day all. :)))

I Purchased furniture from rooms unlimited and took advantage of the 3 year interest free financing. i only had to put a small amount down on the order. i ordered an Ashley sectional and i absolutely love it. it took about 2 weeks to arrive. they delivered to my area 5 days a week so it was very easy to make sure someone was home for the delivery. Very pleased with the entire transaction and looking forward to buying a new dining room set for the upcoming holidays.

THIS IS A WARNING TO ANYONE WHO IS CONSIDERING BUYING ANYTHING AT ALL FROM ABITARE IN WIGAN !
I was subjected to the worst customer service experience i have ever had last year and having spread the word it seems there are many many more who have had the displeasure of having to deal with the "mother & son " who seem to be suffering from feelings of grandeur. Charming whilst your spending your money with them but brace yourself if anything goes wrong as your in for the bumpiest ride of your life trust me !

Company does not meet the expectation that was set. Dissatisfied with the work that was done on our walkway. First time out, the concrete was only partially raised. Agreed that the job was not done correctly and would be back out to complete it. As expected, we were satisfied with this agreement. Unfortunately from that point on we were then treated as if we were criminals. Maybe they felt insulted but why? Barry, an owner, agreed it needed to be lifted more. They demanded payment be made immediately, before the crew would be back out. We asked "why would we pay for something that wasn't done right?". It even got to the point where we turned to the franchise company for help.

The office staff, Patty Petersen and Christie, were both extremely confrontational and unprofessional. It became a reactive situation on our part which was extremely disappointing and upsetting. Apparantley payment for jobs are not received in many cases as stated by Barry and Christie. Christie also mentioned that it costs too much money to take people to court for the money so that is why they were demanding payment before more work was to be done. We can certainly understand why this might be the case with this company - angers probably flair when dealing with this company. Conversations were so petty to the point you must shake your head with these people. It became a circus on the day they were to come back out. They demanded one of us be here or else they would not do the job. They were extremly threatening - for whatever reason we just don't know. We have never worked with contractors like this before. We are truly dissatisfied for the way we were treated and ultimately for the job that was done. Apparantley we have "old, thick concrete" that could not be raised as expected and quoted by CRC - they did the best they could. Fine, we paid just as we agreed. They took the check, let's see if they cash it! It still amazes us that business owners would treat customers in the fashion as they treated us. Sad and extremely petty. You must laugh but it did cost us $760, so really who is laughing now? We would highly recommend not using this company for your concrete raising needs. In conclusion, they did not meet the expectation that they set with us and the demanding of payment was truly uncalled for. They should be ashamed of themselves. Guess we were not the criminals they thought we were.

I have been to this store location twice in 6 months. Both times they were very busy, there is a sign in sheet at the door. They have 4 chairs for waiting customers. I came with my family and there was a 2 hour wait on our first visit so my husband waited outside with our children. During this visit my 4 year old daughter needed to use the restroom, which is nowhere to be found. When I asked if I could take her to their restroom the young lady said no. I walked across the very crowded room and asked a different employee and she said yes and walked us there! On the second visit my phone had been turned off for not paying on time, I noticed the long wait by the number of names on the list and asked if I could pay my bill with my debit card over the phone instead of waiting. The young lady said no, I would need to pay there in the store to have services restored. I sat at a chair by the tech. support guys because they had no customers since they have 3 chairs there beside their window in the back. (they are really nice guys) I remembered the restroom incident and called customer service (the only call I was able to make at the time) just to make sure I wasn't waiting for no reason. They took my payment over the phone and I was on my way, scratched my name off the list on my way out. They have poor customer service at this location, very long waits, and no consideration for their customers time.

Just want to let you know if you are the one who used my name to make that fictiuos post on Consumer affairs I intend to press charges. It can be tracked. And yes Frand & Mary are my parents of course they would sign the petition for me and make complaints about the crooked Company. Would' nt your parents do that for you? especially when the furniture is a gift? 5000.00 AND WAITED A YEAR... SHAME ON ME .

oh and just for the record joann, i revisited your petition that you state has all these names on it and its funny how you and two other people signed it about 4 or 5 times each. so you want to talk about BOGUS posts now joann? what about bogus petitions?does that count? or no because its a negative review? only positive ones are bogus? you want to call me a liar? you want to say that to the world? how about i sue YOU for defamation of character? How old are you? 12? making fun of people and calling them liars online? maybe you should take computer etiquette 101 and realize you cannot simply harrass or call people liars just because you are sitting behind your computer. i hope you keep this up and continue to harrass people this way because you will be the one at the DA office and not testifying about your poor poor damaged furniture. geeZ

You say that a negative review doesnt mean it is fake but then you say a positive review does mean its fake? hmmmmmmmm...I think you are fake. how do like that JOANN. Get a life for real. Rooms Unlimited Dining room set

Please do not buy any furniture/items from Rooms Unlimited, Medford NY. There is an active petition to have this buisness investigated and have the owners Richard & Susan Kogel arrested for Larcency. Stealing money from consumers and not delivering the product= larcency. Please google ROOMS UNLIMITED COMPLAINTS and you will see hundreds of old and recent complaints. They are liars and scammers and any staements posted stating they deliver within two days is a lie(theyare most likely being posted by the company). The suffolk county court(6th) can verify that this company gets sued twice a day!
Please sign the petition to close them down! They need to be shut down and the owners need to be arrested so no one else is a victim! The media have been contacted, da's office, & BBB. Soon we will get justice! I am a victim and hope that I can prevent anyone else being one as well. Also can look the complaints on facebook, yelp, consumer affairs, scam.com. etc.

Now come on Joanne, we all know the DA's office does NOT have an active investigation going on. LIE number 1/ The petition you have filed has mostly your signatures on it so now does that really count? as for the BBB i checked that out as well and they have a B rating. Other furniture stores have F ratings as im sure you did your homework...And I have looked at all the sites you posted with all the complaints you say there are and most of them are from YOU! or your alias's. So have a nice iife and continue being a HATER. AS for me...I have better things to do than to continue playing FIND FIROZ, which was funny at first but now after finding your comments in hundreds of places I realize you need some serious help so Im not playing anymore. Hope you get better soon.

Rooms Unlimited Sales Person

My wife and I purchased a new master bedroom set on April 6, 2011. We explained to the salesman, Lenny, that we were in a bit of a rush to take delivery of the furniture since we had just purchased a new home and are expecting our second child within a few months. We have had the best furniture delivery experienece. He assured us that we'd have the furniture in our house in 6-8 weeks. We said that we'd buy the set in that case, as long as we definitely get our furniture within that range of time. We actually received a call that our order was ready in 5 weeks. We were thrilled how fast they worked to deliver our furniture on time. The baby and her furniture came the way we anticipated. Thank you god and thank yo Rooms Unlimited. We definitely recommend Rooms Unlimited for their hassle free satisfaction. Martin Assanje.

Rooms Unlimited Customer Service

We have bought dining chairs and a sofa on June 15, 2011. Our first delivery of the dining chairs arrived 2 in days and the remaining furniture was delivered in a week around July 4th. Fortunately, the remaining order was delivered on time inspite of the bad weather conditions. We have visited the showroom in person to thank them for their lightning shipping and prompt service. We have currently decided to update our bedroom and we won't hesitate to go to Rooms Unlimited for our purchase. Thank you. Michael Lohlein

I am having a horrible experience for a year now, I received a damaged table and have been hung up on, direspected and made an ### out of and so have hundreds of others who have purchased items from Rooms Unlimited, Medford NY. These people are crooks and they get sued all the time. verify with the clerks in the Court house. There is an active petition to bring this so called company down and prevent anyone else from being screwed. Just research all the recent complaints and you'll see it for yourself. These owners will have a civil suit against them soon enough. Please do not buy from them and steal your money!

Rooms Unlimited funds unreturned

I paid in full for 6 dining chairs, sofa, love seat and chair on Sept.26, 2010, approximately more than $4000.00.Our first delivery of the dining chairs arrived 3 days later and the remaining furniture was supposed to be delivered in 12 weeks around Christmas time.Unfortunately, the remaining order was never delivered and, inspite of multiple phonecalls and personal visits to the store we never received the remaining furniture. Finally, after an agonizing wait of 8 months, we decided to cancel our order on May 30th of 2011.We were initially promised that the remaining sum of $3700.00 will be refunded within a week's time, but untill today, we have not been refunded. This is again after multiple phonecalls and personal visits to the store manager who always promises us that the above sum will returned very soon.I am now very desperate and writing to you with the hope that you will kindly intervene and help me in resolving this crisis.Your help will be deeply appreciated.Thank you.Toni Abrar

Rooms Unlimited Wrong Delivery/ Horrible Wait

After moving into our new house, on 2/19/11 my husband and I went shopping for a couch for our living room. We end up purchasing a couch from Rooms Unlimited and are told that the order will take anywhere from 8-10 weeks.

Rooms Unlimited Fred Manager

ROOMS UNLIMITED WILL ROB YOU AND MAKE YOUR LIFE A LIVING HELL!
Do not ever order from this company. Its been 11 months and after numerous phone calls and contacting the Better Business Bureau we have not received our furniture. Thank god the credit card company after much fighting credited us our $3100 down payment and Rooms Unlimited for the oddest reason were not happy about this. Fred from R.U. in Patchogue, NY has done nothing but lied to us telling us every month "The furniture will be there next month" and even after it was supposed to finally be delivered today they claim it will not be there by Monday. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY!

Worst Experience with Rooms Unlimitedd! 8 months later and I STILL DO NOT have my couch fixed! The cushion on the arm of the chair ACTUALLY has wood sticking up from it. I was TOLD a tech would take a look, he couldnt fix it, they need a "special" part. Manufacture needs to be notifyed, (they wont call RU back), NOR do they have the part. Called RU an was told supervisor would call back, 10 days later NO CALL, I call again, they have to discuss this situation with the RU OWNER about what to do. Was told HE WOULD call by today. I explaind to Gazel (customer service) that last night I was in emergency room DUE to my son getting stiches from the WOOD on the couch that he hit with his mouth! I gave them 2 choices either get this COUCH OUT of my house an fix it OR I will find a person to fix it an they need to cover the cost. I was told Owner MR "K" would call me, NO CALL. I WILL BE AT THAT STORE TOMORROW! I am also taking legal action. What a disgrace, I JUST WANT MY COUCH FIXED! I find it har to believe a Large company like ROOMS UNLIMITED would NOT just replace the couch and Make the customer happy for what THEY PAID IN FULL FOR! My son is 10 and now needs cosmetic surgery. DONT GET INVOLVED. WHAT A DISGRACE .

Rooms Unlimited Did not deliver on time horrible customer service

Rooms Unlimited in Medford, NY misleads customers and makes promises they will not keep when it comes to delivering furniture. We were told the livingroom set we ordered would be in within 8-12 weeks. After 15 weeks we were still without the furniture and nobody could tell us why it was late or when it would be in. We tried to cancel the order but could not. Their customer service was rude and obnoxious--hanging up on us, yelling at us, and telling us it was not their problem. When they finally delivered, we were last on day's list. Spiteful, obnoxious company!

I bought bedroom furniture in Nov for my children. The furniture was supposed to be delivered 2 weeks @ 5pm. The furniture was delivered @ 10:38pm. In addition to the late delivery the furniture order was not complete and some pieces were damaged. It took them over a week and several complaints to get all the pieces to me undamaged and complete. The drawers on my daughters set would not close. We were told by Tracy that it could be fixed. She sent a tech who in her words "is the best on the island" for fix it. It still didn't get fixed. We complained and were given a store credit to compensate us for our aggravation and a promise that after the holidays when things calm down it would be taken care of. Finally in March someone came out and fixed the drawers. We placed another order in March for a kitchen set and was told it would take 4 weeks. We came in and changed the order and would get it in 2 weeks. We kept getting the runaround for two weeks past the date. My wife went into the store April 2nd to cancel the order. She was told that she needed to speak to Fred. She asked John who ws helping with the order to contact Fred to get it cancelled. He became irate slammed the counter and told her that she was not getting her money back and "NOW WHAT" I went to the store to confron John about his behavior. He acted very unprofessional and tried to intimidate me by standing on a platform confrontionally. The other manager told me I need to calm down or he was going to call the cops on ME! I told him to do so! Once the police officer arrived they finally decided to refund our money. This has been the worst experience ever. They pass the buck and no one follows through even after all of our complaints. They don't respect the customer. They are great at taking your money but delivering on what is purchased

Agreed! We have had nothing but problems with this company. We ordered and paid in full (cash) for a bedroom set on January 30, 2011. We had delivery scheduled for Friday, March 11th. I left work early that day to be home for the delivery, which I confirmed with RU that morning. I received a call from Fred letting me know that only the bed would be coming and that the dressers and nightstands would not be. The reason? When they went to load them on the truck, the boxes were all wet. He said they are getting more in and I would have it by Tues or Weds of the following week. I sat home waiting from 1:00 in the afternoon until 10:30 Friday night when the delivery guys showed up. Yes, 10:30 at night. Today I called to find out when the rest of the furniture was coming as they said it would be in BY today. I was called back an hour later and told I should have it by the end of next week now because it's not in yet. Oh..and the bed is damaged, scratched and missing paint in some areas. They are sending a technician out next week to look at it. I told them I would not be taking another day off of work to wait at home. They said that will be up to the technician if he comes after hours.

We have spent over $6000 there in the last 2 years. We purchased 2 leather couches from there a year ago and the seams are all coming apart and the leather is completely worn in some areas. Since we just missed the year mark, they said they can't do anything for us. After reading the astronomical amount of complaints online though...I am sure nothing would have been done even if we were in the warranty period. We will NOT be shopping there EVER again...nor will we ever refer anyone to them. I have no idea how they run the way they do and remain in business.
