GC Services fraud and scam

This unfair collection company call me several times a day but they never leave message; When you answer nobody is in the other side. This morning I called them and I asked what they want from me; The answer: Do you have Capital One credit card account? I answered Yes and then they asked me for the c.c. number so I said that I never give my credit card number for strangers and if they have something to talk to me please send me a letter explaining what they want from me. After this she said Have a nice day and hung up. After this, they still continue to call me again. It is a warn for everybody; Take care with this company.

I personally know SEVERAL people that work for GC Services-different companies use them-I think Verizon and MCI or something... Anyway, I know one that was on the Collections side. They do their job like any other collector would. I have never heard of them calling a neighbor though, or even asking for a credit card number right when they call... that IS ridiculous. Either way, all collectors are going to get a "bad" name because of what their job entails. They are just doing what they are paid to do though.

GC Services misrepresentation

Just received a call from GC Services asking for info about my stepson saying it was for a loan. She wanted to know his phone # and I then said if he really applied for a loan you would have his #. I asked her for her phone # so I could check with my stepson and ask if he really applied for a loan which he did not. I called this company back and told the guy on the phone that he was lying to me. After asking numerous questions he finally admitted he was a collection agency. What a lying company... Misrepresentation! I gave him NO Information!

Their website specifically states that the website and company are convenient, offer "quality service " and that they offer better solutions. I have wasted hours of my time trying to pay my fine over the phone, with terrible service. once referred to the website have filled in my birth date, and control number numerous times to be told that it is incorrect. then when I put in the citation number been told that this to is incorrect, then when trying my drivers license number once again been told that this is incorrect! I think I can copy directly from the printout, or my license and check it twice over and verify its validity, but no apparently I'm still wrong. Get your ### together or don't expect me to settle with you! This company should not be allowed to operate they are utterly useless.

I worked for GC for a short while and they are known for misrepresentation ! For example, when they hired me they told me I would get $3 per hour incentive pay for doing my job and staying logged into the system for a specified amount of time. I exceeded that time all the time I was there and did get the $3 per hour. Then after a few weeks they informed everyone they was going to base the $3 per hour extra on Login time, the amount of time we spent typing (18% or less) the account info, plus you had to be in the top 75% in collections made. I call this bait and switch - they bait you and make a promise and then break that promise after they have hired you. GC services is a rinky dink dishonest outfit and I would not recommend anyone going to work for them. Their justification in the incentive pay change was "is it right to pay the person on the bottom the same as you pay the person on top" ? And my thought is absolutely yes its right - especially since it was a condition you gave them when you hired them ! But I will say this, if you do owe for a loan and GC calls you, do not identify yourself and then hangup on them. If you identify yourself and then hangup, this is logged as a "no commitment" and that goes against your credit record and hurts you only - it does not hurt GC in any way. It may hurt the poor soul trying to make a living that work for GC by lowering their stats, but it does not harm GC in any way - it only hurts your credit record. So if they call you and you do owe for a loan they are collecting for, do yourself a favor and at least talk to them. Make partial payments if possible and explain the situation to them fully - loss of job, huge medical expenses etc - whatever is causing you to be late on your payment. Just don't identify yourself and then hangup on them. If you are going to hangup, the best thing to do is not identify yourself. If they do not confirm that they talked to the debtor, then they cannot legally put a mark against your credit record. Not all the people that work for GC are bad people - I tried my best to be considerate to everyone I called because thats the way I wanted to be treated. But I have seen GC collectors (account reps) that were very rude and have heard stories about some of them threatening to have automobiles reposessed when the payment was only a few days late. Reposession only legally takes place after 60 to 90 days late ! Anyway, GC cheats its employees, so I do not trust them at all and will never work for them again ! I'm glad I got away from them !

GC Services harassing third party phone calls

For six years, I have been getting phone calls from this company. They are trying to locate someone my husband used to know. We do not know where she lives, we do not know her phone number, we haven't seen her for years. We keep telling GC Services this, but the phone calls continue. If what this company does isn't illegal, IT SHOULD BE!

What really pisses me off is neither I nor my husband have EVER defaulted on a loan, but we are getting HARASSED because of SOMEONE ELSE'S DEBT. I have told them not to call us again, my husband has told them not to call. They call at 8:15 in the morning, usually long after we've left for work or while we're sleeping on the weekends. Then they call later in the day. Since we have caller id, we recognize the number, and it makes our blood boil when we see it.

My phone company does have a service to block calls, and it's $3 a month. I am actually thinking about signing up. Maybe I can send GC Services the bill for that, as they HAVEN'T listened to me when I have told them not to call. That's right, GC Services--you owe ME money! Now maybe I can call all your former friends and neighbors and harass you for the $3 a month you owe me for making me need this phone service! I can't utilize the "block anonymous calls" features of my phone because the caller id says "Operations Division." Too bad, since that service is free.

I found it very amusing to see employees of GC Services defending their job on this site. Have they not read the complaints? Most of the people complaining are third party individuals--neighbors, relatives, "friends." Perhaps those employees wouldn't mind 50 phone calls inquiring as to the whereabouts of their "friend" from elementary school, or their neighbor they hardly know, or their deadbeat relative.

Hello there i want to pass down some info i feel should be extremely useful in accomplishing your goal of getting the phone calls to stop. I currently work for a 3rd party collection agency and am fully educated on all ftcpa(federal trade of collections practices act) laws. If you are getting calls in regards to someone you knew it means they most likely provided your name and phone number as a reference when they contracted on that debt. Through my experiences as a collector i've called and continue to call individuals who may have some pertinent information which would help that agency locate the debtor. However, once you inform them of your inability(or flat out refusal to provide that information) you must demand that they "cease and desist" all calls to the phone # they are calling you at. But you MUST demand the phone # be removed and that they stop all attempts of communication with you. Sometimes they might tell you to send that request in writing. That is absolutely not necessary unless that company has credible information which would lead them to believe the debtor resides at that residence. If that is the case then you would be required to send a written request for a stop to any/all calls to that residence and any phone #'s associated with that address. If that is not the case and you demand they stop calling and remove your contact information then you should take down the name of the individual you presented that statement to as well as the time/date you made that demand. Collectors could be liable for $1000 fine if ftcpa laws are broken and that $$ would come out of that individuals pocket and I don't know about any of you but I wouldn't wanna pay $1000 because i crossed the line while attempting to collect on a complete strangers debt. When they tell you the phone # has been removed get a supervisor on the line and take down his/her name, title and date/time you spoke with them. Many times if you tell a collection agency they have the wrong # they will wait to remove the phone # until they have been told on more than one instance that you do not know the individual they are calling for or even if you do you don't want to be involved in their personnal business matter. That should do the job for u and if it doesn't, well, then you report them to the FTCPA. GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE THIS INFORMATION WAS HELPFUL.

GC Services customer service

In Feb 2008, I became employed and knowing I had a pending citation I tried to notify the courts, upon doing so was referred to the GC Services for the Los Angeles County Courts. I made most of the arrangements by phone. I was later notified by GC Services at my job and was urged into making payments that were beyond my finances. Earning less than $1200.00 a month with rent at $900.00, GC Services had me committed to a $216.00 monthly deduction. I tried to resolve this issue with them that I would be able to speak more freely at home, but was told by GC Services that if I did not resolve this issue with them “NOW!” that my chances with payment arrangements would result with payment required in full. With the Memorial Holiday, I was paid for only 3 days of work. Which subquently led to insufficient funds for the check to clear the bank? I called GC Services on Tuesday June 10th. Spoke to Tarik Hawa, Ms McDonald and Ms Cowan; because I initially asked for Supervisor that would be able to make decisions, Ms. McDonald, already had attitude, she was unprofessional and very rude. Yesterday I was able to call when the check would clear, today because I upset Ms. McDonald they can only accept a money gram and something else. When I asked Ms. McDonald, her to repeat herself more slowly and to calm down she told me "Don't tell me what to do". She then hung up on me. They accused me of knowingly bouncing a check, then, wanted me to commit to having the check resubmitted before I was paid. HELP where do I turn now.

GC Services mocked about what I do for a living

I just talked with a lady today from GC Services named Geri. She was very rude. I was constantly mocked and tried to tell her that they are not the only people that I have to pay. I pay other bills and even told her that I am a teacher. When she heard that, she sarcastically replied, "That is unbelievable!" Then she asked what grade I teach and I told her fifth grade and she replied, "Now I can see why this country is going to pot." This is not my only time. These people are rude. They need to be investigated and put out of business. They are a disgusting bunch of people. It is good to see that others are speaking out against them. I. like many others, are doing the best that they can to make a living while these people sit in a cubicle and mock people. They need to get real jobs. Their lives must be pathetic if they have to do this for a living. They are a sad group of people to deal with.

Not everyone from Gc Services are ###, just because there are some that are rude not everyone is and just because they work there does not mean their lives are pathetic. I used to work for them and ya know what if you owe a debt you owe a debt plain and simple. That's just like saying ok youre a teacher, congratulations you know how to add and subtract. Just because you teach something that is so simple doesn't mean that your life is pathetic. I started working there because I could not get a job anywhere else in my town but you know what? I have two kids, own my own house and car but I have to have money to pay for those things. Don't put people down for doing their job just because you don't know how to pay all of your bills. That would be like me saying well get a job that pays more money for all your bills or cut down on some things so you can get caught up. These jobs are out there for reason and these are the jobs that keep people in their houses and put food on the table for their kids so don't knock them for trying to provide for their families, granted yes some of them are rude but like I said not everyone is.

No, not everyone is rude and degrading.. however, there is no exscuse for mocking someone else's profession or disrespecting them as a person and calling them pathetic! Yes, people need to pay their bills but can you tell me that at some point, with this economy, that you yourself have not had any trouble or misfortune when it comes to efficiently taking care of all of the financial responsibilities? I think you are being a little insensitive and a little too protective of this company that stalks and harrasses people on a daily basis.

GC Services false information

I am an attorney who has handled more than a hundred cases referred from traffic courts to the collection agency GC Services. Although you may find GC Services people behind thick glass at the courthouse, they are not court employees, and do not have legal training. If you have an old citation that was referred to GC Services and they are telling you that you have no option but to pay their fee, that you cannot go to court on your citation, or that you have to write to the judge to get a court date - they may not be telling you the truth. Beware of GC services harassment even after you resolve a case in court and pay the fine. They have continued to harass some of my clients well after cases were completely over, saying "it's your burden to prove you paid" - which is complete crap. If you have a similar story, send it to [protected]@trafficcourtpros.com and we may publish on our TrafficCourtBlog.com

I did not receive my last year's tax refund which I elected to have as a direct deposit. Instead I got a notice that the funds had been intercepted by GCServices. Apparently, they claim I have a "failure to appear" or "failure to pay" something from 2012, which is completely impossible, given that there is no way that I would have been permitted to keep my license and registration current if that were true. It seems to initiate from a fix it ticket for something that I vaguely remember being furious about at the time because it ended up costing me so much more than the fix and the fine because of some court backlog or whatever that did not get the memo when I took care of the matter at a Santa Monica Courthouse. They claim I now owe something like $700 (minus the amount they took with my refund, which still leaves a balance of at least a few hundred).

This is insane and how to fight something like this when I haven't got any of the paperwork from that far in the past? I don't even have that car anymore, as it was stolen a couple years ago and the transmission completely gutted. I do know that had I NOT actually taken care of the ticket, I would have had my license suspended and registration disallowed until I took care of it, as there have been plenty of times they have done that to me when I had anything outstanding. There is no way I would be permitted to keep driving with impunity for 7 years with an outstanding balance at the DMV collection agency. I have received nothing from GCServices in years until this sudden appropriation of funds out of the blue.

I don't even know how to go about disputing this, and I changed my tax returns to send me a paper check instead this year. Can they still take more from me? Furious.

I have also had to deal with this company. They ended up taking my tax return. When I called to confront them about this they told me I would have to deal with it and get over it. The woman I spoke with was also extremely rude and when I tried to explain to her that them taking my tax return would cause a great hardship on me and my family she turned everything around and made the conversation about her and how hard her life has been. I spoke with two other representatives from this company and they tried to tell me the same thing. Then I decided to call the US Dept. of Education which is where the loan was originally through and they told me that there were forms that I could fill out called injured spouse forms to try to get most if not all of my money back. I think the people at GC Services really need to get their acts together and get all the information before telling people that there is nothing that can be done.

I have been receiving similar letters as well as harrassing voice messages regarding an apparent fine which I am accused of not paying. What alarms me most about what is going on here is that someone receives a contract to collect for our State and County courts (or our illegal system) and they absolutely extort every single one of us out of our hard earned money. Is anyone other than me absolutely fed up with the corruption and fraud that has run out of control in this country. GS services claimed that I did not pay the full amount of my fine by $35.00. My fine was $381.00 without traffic school and $436.00 with traffic school, this amount does not include the actual cost of the traffic school either. None the less, the judge in my case gave me the option to take traffic school or not. Mind you this case was a photo citation which had me running a red light which was more light a half yellow half red in my book. So $381.00 for running a yellow. that in itself should have us all up in arms. But no, I paid the damn fine without doing the traffic school as I refuse to pay another dime to some business that sprouted up out of pork. I apologize for digressing but miss me with this crap! So I call the Van Nuys Inferior court house wait on hold for 79 callers to get through the same crap I am waiting to get through myself and AHHHHHHHHH, I get a court clerk or represtative. She runs my Ca. drivers licence and says you don't owe any more money as you paid your fine in full. I said tell that to the GS extortionists who call me daily and send letters stating I am going to lose my license and who have tacked $300.00 extra dollars to a false claim stating I was short $35.00 and I am being taught a financial lesson. She says disregard them just send them a letter as she gave me a receipt number which apparently is the only language GS services will understand. I am like, why don't you call them as it was your error not mine anyway. She says No, it is there error so you call and even if it was our error, you would still call.

This is not the America my parents told me about growing up, this is nothing like it at all!

First off when working for a collections company, the keyword is Collections. That is the job. When working for them the job is trying to get the money and especially with school loans they can take your tax return and the company does not care if it causes a hardship. I mean obviously if you have school loans you know it is a loan and it has to be paid back, if its not paid then obviously it goes to collections which is what the people at GC Services do. If you are considered in third party collections that means it is soooo far past due they are not polite and they dont have to be. All they are tryin to do is collect the money that you owe. So it is not the people at GC that need get their acts together, it is called their job. Bottom line is if you don't pay something you owe, it goes to collections.

GC Services unprofessional and rude

Some are very unprofessional at GC and are liars. I paid d of my debt as agreed on 1 MAR 08 and have been requesting a letter of release since 10 APR 08. I finally asked them to fax me the letter and I still have not received the fax or the mailed copy from them. I spoke with several employees but mainly deal with one person in attempts to get my letter. After awhile they became very rude and stated they would not help me. I then asked to speak with a supervisor and instead I had employees pretending as if they were. I realized by speaking to a customer representative the person I had been speaking with was a supervisor and the employee was pretending as though she was. The employee was extremely rude and obnoxious. She hung up the phone several times and said I was harassing them and not to call the number anymore as though I was calling her home. I finally spoke with who I assume was a supervisor and still did not receive appropriate service from GC. I was told to wait for the letter to come in the mail and she had a conference to attend. I have to agree with those that have had a negative experience with G C Services. GC is not a very professional company and if you could use another company to conduct your business I suggest you do.

After i had set up payments an the first payment was made friends an family started being harassed again regarding the debt that was already being paid.

The first time i was contacted by GC services the collector was verbally abusive. I told them not to call back again an yet i still receive constant calls.

Funny isn`t it. How can anyone garnish wages without a court order. It`s always the same story. (SCARE TACTICS) . Unsecured debt is just that, unsecured. They can`t sieze nothing, only the Federal Gov. My suggestion is and only mine, is if you had any issues paying your debts arrange a payment with your original provider not with 3rd parties get it in writing with the terms. They will help you! They want to get paid, they don`t want you to file for Chapter 11. If your option is to file, well you know the story. If you settle with the terms than be advised that your credit will suffer regardless of the options you chose.
Stand up you have rights!

It's not customer service, it's debt collection. The company that sent your unpaid bill or loan to their agency has set standards that the company has to follow or will get in trouble. You have to go with what they want or suffer. If you really want to pay it back, you have to do so diligently. Future advice: don't fall behind on your bills or take out money you can't pay back, especially if your health is questionable.

I received a call on October 8th, 2007 in the evening. They asked for my husband by name and when I asked who was calling she said Angelica. When I asked the nature of her call she said she was trying to contact a neighbor of ours. I said I would take her name and phone number and contact the neighbor. It turned out to be a harassing call from this company. I called today and talked to a Mr. Fleming. I mentioned Angelica's name and he put me through to her. I told her to remove my name and phone number from their calling list and that I was going to contact consumer affairs about their procedures to contact people etc. She stated she was going to remove me from her list but never asked for my number, name or anything. This company GC Services should be put out of business. This is illegal and they need to be reported to the authorities!

I received a phone call today about one of my neighbors. I asked the man on the phone who he was 3 times. Then he tells me he's wanting to get a hold of this neighbor. I told him I don't know anything about her as I had just returned to town after a death in the family. He said okay and then was very nice to offer condolences. I told him he should try to call her himself. He said thanks and hung up.

I see a lot of other people had an uglier experience with these folks though. I suggest you invest in an inexpensive tape recorder and record the conversations. I would even go so far as to say, "I'm recording this conversation to give to my attorney, so please speak clearly." (Might even work to get them to stop calling you all together.)

Legally they aren't allowed to call and harrass neighbors of people who owe money, whether it's legitimate or not. Know your rights! If you are still dealing with them after you've advised them you're recording it for your attorney, I suggest you really talk to an attorney about this. If enough people are having problems with them, a class action lawsuit can be filed.

I'm not offering legal advice here, just stating what I would do if it were me. Thankfully, one phone call is all I'm expecting, but you can bet I'll take my own advice if they ever call again!

These people have been calling us for months trying to get hold of a relative. We have told them repeatedly not to call us anymore, but it continues, and they are calling our children as well. They are rude, laugh when we tell them not to call us, and when I threatened to report them, told me to 'bring it on'. We have not done anything wrong, had nothing to do with this relatives debts, and want these calls to stop!

I have been receiving harassing calls from this GC Services for 6 months. They claim to be seeking an individual with the same name in connection with a student loan. The caller, a man who claims his name is Bo, asks me a series of questions which theoretically are to disqualify me as the person he is looking for and each time I answer (truthfully) that I was not born in the year he mentions, did not attend the college he mentions, do not have a social security number ending in the four digits he has mentioned, and do not have an outstanding student loan. He then becomes very angry and demands my social security number and birthdate, which I refuse to provide to protect my identity. I have received 4 calls this week, including one today. I have asked this company to stop calling me and have recently filed complaints with the Attorneys General in Illinois, Texas, and Ohio about this company. Maybe now they will stop with the threatening and frightening calls.

I went through a messy divorce and unfortunately I made the mistake of keeping a Home Depot card that had my ex-wife's name on it. The card has been charged up by her to fix her porch and not paid. GC Services called and I was in Florida visiting a relative that was in the hospital about to die. I told them that it was a bad time and asked that they call back. The guys last name is Smith. He continued to talk and was very rude. I explained the situation and asked him to call back again. He said that he would just consider the account a refusal to pay and told me that I had no business using someone else's money and not paying it back. I asked to speak to his manager and he informed me that he was the supervisor. After a brief and very nasty conversation, I hung up the phone.

GC Services called back and offered a deal. I once again tried to explain the problem and they said that I was the primary card holder and therefore responsible for the bill. Ok... I guess I could accept that but... He called me at work. I explained that I couldn't take personal calls at work. He continued to talk and once again was very rude. I tried once more nicely to tell him that I couldn't talk and he again told me that I shouldn't charge up bills that I cannot and will not pay back. I explained that according to the Fair Collections act that if I tell him that i cannot talk at work, that they have to remove the number and do not call again. He told me that since i am so aware of the law that I should also be aware that the law says that if I borrow money, I have to pay it back. I then proceeded to hang up the phone.

I have been getting bills from Home Depot and called them to ask if the money could be sent to them. It is a real mess and i will end up paying and trying to get the money from my ex.
I cannot believe that this company actually collects money as rude and unlawful as they are.

We have been getting calls from GC Services for some time now. They start calling first thing in the morning, and when we don't answer the call they call back every 4 or 5 minutes-never leaving a message. This is nothing new, but what bothers me is that they have started calling my cell phone number and my work phone number--NEITHER of which we EVER gave them as contact information. How did they get these numbers?

A woman named Leslie and her supervisor, Felicia Topp, have been calling my phone twice a day, from 8am until 8pm in order to collect a bill I don't owe. They also had a neighbor hand deliver a note to my door (this neighbor I have never met) stating that a friend was in an emergency situation.

I asked them to stop, but they said it was legal for them to keep doing it.

These people are simply the most aggressive company I have ever had to deal with, but I definitely plan on fighting back!

Over the past six months I have been receiving calls from GC Services, asking for Angela or William Harrison; I have informed them that there is no Angela or William at this number. The calls continue, sometimes 4-5 times per day.

I have spoken to at least 3 "Supervisors" that tell me my number will be removed from their system. It has not.

I was contacted by Mr brown threatening me with garnishing my wages. I have been paying on this debt for 3 years and now they are no longer accepting my payments. Mr brown has started harassing my HR department at work and also me with threats. I was given a deadline to pay the amount in full and I and my HR dept are still receiving threatening phone calls. Mr Brown has gone as far as to reveal my issues with a secretary at my work place. The woman told him she did not want to know about my personal issues but he proceeded to tell her. I still will pay my payments but he will not accept them. I believe after 3 years of steady payments I should be allowed to complete the payments without the harassing phone calls to me and my workplace.

I have a cell phone account with three lines on it. One line is being called 2 to 3 times a day. They ask for Justin. That phone is my phone and one of my phone lines. I initially called for the name of the company and the address to send a letter to cease and desist calling that number since it does not belong to the person they are calling. The man argued with me, accused me of things, including asking me if Justin was my boyfriend (sure would surprise my husband wouldn’t it?) and told me I was a liar. He told me that I was not allowed to send a letter nor was I to ask for an address. I had to call back to get the name of the company when someone answered and then Google it. How ridiculous is that? When I told him that he was as bad as talking to my 10 year old, he then started acting more like one and then asked why I was bringing my child into this several times to try and make me feel bad and rile me up more. The fact is he got nothing accomplished except angering me to the point where my maturity level went down to his. I offered to put my boss on the line since he is an attorney and he said that he didn’t want to talk to him because he wasn’t calling him. I advised that he was not looking for me or my friend either, and he refused to let me get my boss. That is only the a little of what happened on that phone call. He told me that the other person with the phone did not tell them to stop calling and I said that she did, which is how I got the phone number to contact them and he proceeded to tell me I was a liar. It is deplorable and disgusting. I have NEVER been treated and spoken to so disrespectfully in my life and it is not even MY debt. This is clear harassment! I finally sent them an e-mail from their site and copied the corporate office. I also went to the website for the FDCPA and filed a complaint.

GC Services illegal practices!

I got behind on my student loan. I lost their info and could not get in touch with them. Student loan was turned over to GC Services. When GC Services contacted me, I was told my loan amount had increased by $4000 for collection costs. I had cancer when I lost info for original creditor and had to have emergency surgery to remove some organs to keep me alive. I was told to sell my cars, take a loan, do whatever I had to do to pay this off. I was told that they were going to garnish my wages. I said fine, since I wouldn't see the money, I could live without it. They didn't want to garnish my wages then. They said it wouldn't cover the monthly collection costs and interest. I said sorry, I would pay $150 per month. they then said they would proceed with garnishment. Then I started getting reports from my coworkers. GC Services were calling for me and when told I was not in the office ( I drive trucks), they would ask for the payroll department phone number regarding garnishment for ME. They told this to several coworkers. Talk about embarrassment, my nickname is "SKIP" at work now. When I contacted them, they wanted to set me up on some program that would wipe out the bad credit reports and set everything right. I authorized two electronic checks for $100 each to be taken out of my checking acct. They sent me some papers to sign and send back within 4 days or so, I don't remember time frame there. I got very sick then due to complication from the cancer and didn't send in forms. I was trying to stay alive. Well they started calling work again. When they could not get hold of me there, they took the next step. I was coming back into town one evening when my 80+ year old father called me very confused and upset. He said a credit card company called him trying to get in touch with me. They told him I had applied for credit and there was an error on my paper work, and needed my phone number. He gave them my cell phone #, which they did not have. He was upset at me that I was applying for credit somewhere, and I had been out from work for months and didn't have money to pay more bills. He helped me out some while I was sick, so He wanted to give me more money, which he really could not afford to give. Well GC Services then started calling my Cell, even on Sunday. They wanted to really put me on this program. I was already being garnished 15% of my pay after taxes, every week. They made the deal sound sooo sweet. I again authorized two payments of $100 in Feb. to get into this program. When I got the paperwork, I noticed they wanted to capitalize everything. I didn't know what this meant, but I had to agree to everything or the deal was off. The whole thing looked really strange to me. I chose not to accept. They DID submit 2 checks to my Credit Union acct, which were paid. Today, I got another Deposit Notification from GC Services. Another $100. The funny thing is I DID NOT AUTHORIZE this check to be put through from them. It was only 2 checks, not 3, and both were to be submitted in Feb. I am taking letter to Credit Union on Monday and talking to them. Question is: Should I let them take it and file a complaint with my credit union and The State and FTC, or should I just have the bank block it?

I have never disputed the loan, and had every intention of repaying it. Hell I am willingly doing the Garnishment thing to pay this back. I just got very sick.

GC services called me threatening to garnish my wages unless i sent a vioded check and they would take over 400 dollars month out of my banking account. They put me on the program that is suppose to get me out of default in 9 months. They added 10, 000 dollars in collection fees and told me that out of 1600 they already took only 370 went to my balance. The rest was collection fees. I told them I just had cancer and have always been sick. I only borrowed 24, 000 and now owe 65, 000 in interest, etc. I said I could't pay this month bc I was docked so much from work from being sick I couldn't pay my rent. They "kicked me out of the program" and already contacted my payroll to garnish my wages. I am starting a suit against my employer for medical discrimination. If there is a settelment, can the gov take the money to pay this debt? Will GC services really garnish my wages? I cannot live on what will be left. Is this legal? I might as well quit my job. Help

I am currently planning to file a lawsuit against GC Services for some of the same reasons, including check fraud. It appears that this is a trend with them and in the case of their word against mine I think I will win. I wrote them a check for a ticket and ended up getting my liscense suspended even though the check cleared over a week before the due date. I beat the charges in court for the suspension (I got pulled over during this time and was cited for having a suspended liscense, a misdermeanor), and got the police department to waive the fees too. The next step is to take the fight to GC Services. In my opinion their crooks and anyone having problems with them should fight as much as possible, even if it's just outa spite, f**k gc services.

When you stop paying your student loan, it goes into default with the school. The loan is guarenteed by the state and when you don't pay the school, it is turned over to the state. When the state agencies can't get the loan collected, it is turned over to the federal government, who also guarentees the loan. So to say that you got behind on your loan is an understatement. It took MANY years to get to GC Services and it is not just collection fees being added to the loan. It is interest assessed by the school, state, and federal government.

Bottom line, it was your responsibility to pay and YOU didnt.

Are you kidding me? The best way to deal with these idiots is to not talk to them, not give them even a shred of information to use against you. They are not going to play fair. The more you cooperate with them, the more they will take advantage of you. Don't believe a word they say. They are liars, snakes in the grass. They prey on the innocent. They called me looking for a relative that lives in Arizona. I am stationed in NC and that relative has never been here or visited. They just saw "googled" the last name and figured that they could call and harrass me and that I would gather personal information on that person for them. They have called neighbors and asked them to go leave messages for people "HARRASSMENT". If you give them your social Security #, they will attach it to someone else's debt and try to collect the debt from you even if you don't know the person. My best advice is to not cooperate at all with these crooks and scammers. If you owe a debt then pay it to whoever you owe. Don't give anything to these people. It amazes me how they get away with their scam. I wish congress would secure our information. Anybody can find out any information on anyone on the internet. So much for privacy. Congress! pass some meaningful legislation for a change and outlaw the gathering of personal information for databases. You have sold out our right to privacy so someone can make a buck. Are we going to continue to stand for this? I don't know about you but it infuriates me. So much for anti terrorism. If you feel safe it is a false sense of security. The terrorist's have their own databases which are loaded with information on us gathered off the internet. The scam artists are the least of our worries. Gunnery Sergeant G USMC

GC Services continued collection efforts of a bill paid many years ago!

GC Services was mistakenly given a telephone bill from ATT which we had paid at termination of services. We contacted ATT and GC about the matter and were assured it was resolved. They even wrote us a letter about it. We thought the problem had been resolved until now almost 10 years later we find the bill still shows in our credit report. I can't believe the incompetency of this company. I don't know what to do about it because now they won't answer my calls, they don't correct their mistake. I would pay it again if they would actually do something, but I believe that they care not about their reputation. Collections agencies serve a good purpose, but this moves GC Service from Good to Very Poor. I just can't believe their lack of good faith.

I've been contacted by GC Services several times concerning a student loan that was discharged over twenty years ago due to a hardship. I've sent them copies of the final decree and discharge papers but they keep right on attempting to resuscitate something that I'd total forgotten about and thought was resolved. I'm fifty four years old now and can't afford GC Services practices.

GC Services threats and harassment

This company is a very bad services company I gave them my checking account number so that they can take money out of my account and instead of taking 100.00 they took 200.00 and know I am trying to get in contact with them to let them know and I have spoken to who they say is the manager his name is Mike Swayne and he told me he would contact me in 10 min and he never did and then I received a threatening phone call form another agent who told me that I am going to go to jail if I do not pay the fine. They are very rude and I was intimidated because of this company.

GC Services harrassment & accusations

I left a major corporation 7 months ago in good standing. What I did not realize and what I have learned is that did not pay their corporate credit card bills on time leaving the employee liable even after everything was submitted approved and closed out. Only to have GC services office out of St. Louis office harass falsely accuse and have to be called by the credit card company to say do not call this person again since the she has had the ex company pay the bill with only a charge left which was done two months after the departure. GC services was not only unprofessional they chose to hang the phone up on this person, falsely accuse and act out in such a manner I now know why you read such negative things about this company and the people who work for them. It is a shame Corporate America has such unprofessional people representing them without knowledge of what and why they are suppose to be calling this person for and to be falsely accused is not acceptable. I know this much I was not raised in such a low down slime way of doing business. I can promise those who read this I will continue my letter writing to let others know what a disgrace it is to have such a low disgraceful society of people who get paid to harass innocent people. I find it really interesting that the credit card company made the call to GC services an requested them not to call me again.

Id like to comment on your response, First and foremost your former company is the one that contracted GC Services to collect the debt. So for you to lash against them when its apparent that you do not have the full information is unfair. Its all about perspective, did you actually listen to the phone calls of the person being contacted about the debt? Usually people get defensive when they learn to have a unpaid bill, so in their mind the agency was rude or crass. They were simply doing their job until your former company clarified that the debt was resolved. Just remember your former company was the one that sent it to collections to begin with.

GC Services I know how to make them stop!

I'm writing in today with more than a complaint -- I'm offering some knowledge, for everyone's benefit. These GC Services people started calling me a few months ago. I don't know why, and they won't tell me. They just keep asking for some person that isn't me, and I keep telling them "that's not me" / "go away" / "leave me alone" / "stop harassing me" / "I can't help you" / etc.

They often have their computers call me and hang up. I think it's just rudeness. (Why do they even want to bother me?!) When there's a person on the phone, they start out asking if I'm [that wrong person], and even though I tell them "no" / "sorry, I don't know that person", they keep trying to dig further into *my* identity, and my supposed relationship with this person (who, for all I know, does not even exist!) while refusing to identify themselves. That has been the pattern for the last few months, several calls a week.

Today it got incredibly worse. EVERY FEW MINUTES, their harassment machine calls me, but nobody's there, and it doesn't leave a message. Only 1 of 30+ phone calls had a person on the other end... I gave the poor guy a slightly-more-frustrated version of what I always tell them, and he hung up. I say "poor guy" because he probably is 99% clueless about how unlawful and illegal those practices are. He probably hates his sucky job and is going to quit within the next few weeks, hoping to upgrade to a grocery sacker position.

The real culprit -- the one responsible for these offenses against Me -- is the President/CEO of the corporation. In this case, it's a guy named Frank Taylor. (See the Secretary of State, and/or BBB, and/or D&B.) Legally speaking, the President/CEO *is* the company. Legally speaking, Mr. Taylor is personally responsible (and can be held personally liable) for any/all actions "his" company takes, and that includes actions which damage/harm Me.

Legally speaking, any company who harasses you can be stopped dead in their tracks by hitting them where it counts: file a CLAIM against the President/CEO. Don't bother with any other people, no matter how high-ranking their titles sound. Don't bother with any so-called supervisory organizations. Don't bother with the expense and hassle of a lawsuit. Just file a CLAIM.

If you send written notification via registered mail, three (3) times, thirty (30) days apart, then you file a "UCC LIEN" against the guy, personally. He will then be unable to sell any of his boats/cars/houses/anything until he handles the lien appropriately, in other words, he has to remedy his wrong against you. Print this out or write it down. It works. I've had about enough of this mistreatment from Mr. GC Services, and he is just about to find out the hard way that his choices do have consequences.

GC Services threatening & harassing!

Several days ago, my mother-in-law and father received a call from a company called GC Services asking for me and demanding they tell me to call them. The representative was very rude to both and proceeded to demand they give them my employer's info and my work phone number and other personal information. When they refused to do so, the representative began to threaten them and ask questions like "Don't you ever see your family members?"

Yesterday, my wife received a call from GC Services asking for me. She answered the phone and asked who they were and what they wanted because they blocked the phone number. They refused to tell her who they were other than GC Services and they told it was was concerning an old credit card. When my wife asked what credit card, they refused to say. She told them that without any of this information, she wouldn't be able to help them. The representative proceeded to tell her they would take our house and everything we owned unless we paid them.

She received a call from them again today, and she told them I was at work. They asked for my work phone number, along with my supervisor's name and number. She refused to give them any information because I can't receive personal calls at work. The rep then told her he would mark the account as a refusal to pay and proceed to sue us.

We are in the process of filing further complaints with the FTC and the Illinois Attorney General's office. I will be contacting a lawyer shortly.

I received a few phone calls for my EX-sister-in-law. This evening I just received a phone call asking me to go to my neighbors house and ask him to call a number. I asked for the company name. Who else but GC Services. As far as I am concerned they can go to my neighbors house and talk to him themselves, not me. Is there action I can take against harassing collection agencies that aren't even for me.

GC Services horrible company

This people are rude and they yell at me when all i am trying to do is pay a bill that should be making them happy. I know i have to pay and that is what i am doing but anyways moneygram deposit my money in to the wrong account # and they said they could pull it back if the money was still in moneygram but since gcservices had the money all moneygram could do was send them an e-mail and have accounting pull it back and place it in the right account # but gc services say's that they have not got an e-mail and they both had me like this for a week. So now i am so upset all i do is cry because i work hard for my money and i am sure everyone does. Today i called moneygram and gcservices on three way and i spoke to miss burn's again because i always speak with her and moneygram told her that they had send an e-mail and that she needed to take that to accounting department and she said very rude that she knew this and then she told me that she would call me back today and not to call her and then i said: well you tell me that you are always going to call me but you never do and she yelled at me and said I WILL CALL YOU! This place is so rude i was the owner i would be embarrassed of my company this place really needs to start monitoring there calls and listen to the type of csr that they got and they should fire EVERYONE IN OKLAHOMA AT GCSERVICES, THEY ARE HORRIBLE PEOPLE!

GC Services harassing phone calls, nasty attitude, wrong customer

On Sunday I received a call on my answering machine. A woman with very poor English speaking skills left her name and number asking I return her call. The first name she used was not correct, nor did she have my middle initial correct, but she did have my last name right. I thought the mistake might lie with her inability to speak English correctly. On Tuesday I returned the call. My call was answered, using their normal greeting stating company name. When I asked again who they were, they repeated the company name. I asked again who they were, who they work for and I was told that "they work for many companies." I explained the call I received. I was then asked my last name, which I gave. She then gave me a first name and I replied, No mam. She then asked if I was a Sprint customer, I replied yes mam. She then gave an address and a town and I said no mam. She then asked for my social security number and I promptly told her that I don't give that number out over the phone. Your employee then got nasty with me and said they already have it! I then told her that if they have it then she could tell me what it was! Very quickly I was told someone would have to call me back! and I was promptly hung up on. I then called Sprint to try and find out what this call was all about. I gave them the phone number and they called. After talking to "Stephanie" she said that they had transposed the number they were trying to reach and got me instead. She had told her that they should at least admit the error and apologize for the mistake. The person on the other end was even nasty to her, which she admitted to me. This is "old school collections"! Do you really think that by being nasty with your job at hand makes "the collection any easier". Compound this by a person that is barely understandable over the phone, and you now have an angry customer that is probably less willing to pay what they owe! I consider this harassment! Any further calls from GC Services to me will be considered harassment and my attorney will be contacting YOU!
