I received a hard tonneau cover that they delivered. The box had holes torn in it and was very beat up. It was obvious shipping damage. The tonneau cover was broken. I took lots of pictures to document the damage. I filed a complaint with them. They sent me a letter saying that they would settle of 1/3 of what the cover cost me and that I only had 15 days to accept their offer or I would get nothing. I have filed a complaint with my states consumer protection agency. This is not an honest rucking company!

You are absolutely correct! Please take my advice. Insist on opening the box before signing for it. I won't buy anything that has to be trucked, not again. If it can't go Fed X, USPS or UPS forget it.
My purchase was an Undercover Tonneau cover from their Factory Outlet ( aka. Truck Addon's). I would not buy from either of these companies. I learned the hard way. I want to get the word out, so others don't get cheated also.

yes this place really does sucks as an employer and a business i heard those guys dont even get time and a half until after 55 hours that sucks and i also heard they have some type of point system from what a driver was telling me that if you miss a day today that point will not come off until the following year that day now that is designed for failure ### that place you guy's better call the labor board, every time i got a delivery from this company the different drivers were very courteous and polite' to work for a company that treats there employees like ### this place should be lucky to have honest and polite employees, that will go the extra mile for you go the extra mile for them i now use ups freight sorry!

I created a blog www.estesexpressshippingsucks.com. Everyone post your stories there about why Estes did you wrong. They still owe us over $11, 000 on claims that they are trying not to pay.

Estes does not treat all their employees the same. Each terminal basically runs independently to a degree and up to lately was fully responsible for all of it's freight damage. They tend to hire complete idots in some locations to manage the operations. An example is the Kansas City KS terminal. Up until recently, they did not even have a terminal manager that could even think constructively for more then 5 seconds. They have a BAD habit of bringing in complete buffoons who don't know their head from there [censor] and they then go on to spend years there trying to figure out what direction the [censor] flows from. They have an operations manager who wakes up every day not knowing his head from his [censor]. It's no wonder why so much freight gets lost, damaged and what doesn't sits on the dock for several days while this idiot trys to figure out what is going on. I would be surprised if h even finished the 6th grade. What a fu%$%% joke. The competition has little to worry about as long as this is allowed

I live in Dallas, Texas. They bring a 350 lbs crated consignment to the curbside of my circular driveway & want to drop it on the street & leave. On requesting the driver to uncrate it & even speaking to his manager, they refuse & wanted their paperwork back. I refused to return it & the driver on being instructed by his manager, put the stuff back on his truck & left. The window given to me was 12- 5 & the driver shows up at 4:30 & after all the drama, walks out with my stuff on his truck. Worst company I've ever dealt with!!!

All these negative comments about Estes are true, and that's not even the half of it. I worked for them for over a decade ( my mistake ) and I've witnessed countless times where they treated both their customers and employee's like crap. If the owner had a lick of management sense he would have better hired or trained his leaders and managers in a way that was conducive to excellent customer service and also high morale within their company. Poor, or even non-existant leadership contributed to this condition due to a rather negative dictatorship style of thinking. Can't really say enough negative truth's about them, they're awful much of the time.

WORST freight company experience in 30 years. Yes, I've had to deal with stupidity and incompetence by freight companies for many years, but Estes is the worst. We received a shipment from Este last week. They called ahead as requested by the shipper and told us when they would arrive. The shipment arrived and all was well. Except that the shipper sent us two shipments and this was just the first. Due to bad weather we waited and waited for word on the other shipment. After 2 weeks, we became worried and called Estes to ask if they knew where it was. They told us that they attempted delivery 12 days ago and that no one was there! They claimed that they did not know they had to call ahead and that they were holding the shipment and waiting for someone to authorize redelivery. They would not accept our authorization, only that of the shipper, whom THEY DID NOT NOTIFY!!! We finally got the shipper to authorize a redelivery. Estes promised delivery on a certain day, between 8am and 12 pm. We had 3 men waiting for the delivery since we had fallen behind on our obligations. By 4pm the shipment had still not arrived.
When we called to inquire, we were told that our shipment was in the rear of a 2nd trailer and the driver was having problems unloading and delivering the items in front of our shipment. When I told the dispatcher, in a clear and moderated voice, without abuse or anger, that this was the worst freight experience of my career. He hung up on me.
This company is unbelievable. Anyone who does business with them voluntarily has got to be an idiot.

I have worked for 4 different companies and yes Estes is by far the worst. apparently when you work for estes any personnel information they have on you becomes the information of anyone they deal with . Even though it is Illegal for These other Companies to use this personnel information to run Background checks without your written consent they do it anyway. Estes never acquires consent either because what they call a consent for is fine print hidden in the application, which is a violation of FCRA regulations. The consent form must be in a stand alone format ( on a separate piece of paper) not slid into the application. So everyone who has worked or applied to Estes has had there FCRA rights violated for that reason alone. And because Estes passed my info on to Homo depot they illegally ran several background checks on me resulting in a conviction from 23 years ago being reported and getting me terminated a couple months later. Only after I got hurt on the job and was on worker comp. Estes and Homo depot suck

Our company filed a valid claim with Estes for destroying a piece of baking equipment that we shipped through them. They admitted their fault, but offered to pay a tiny fraction of the damages. We will never use them again!

My complaint is against a driver for Estes. Truck number My wife, two kids and I were driving 35 mph through a construction zone, in the middle of a thunderstorm. The Estes truck was easily driving double the speed limit, and followed within 3ft of our SUVs rear bumper. My wife took a picture so that I could have proof as I planned on complaining to his supervisor. I tapped the brakes a few times to get him to back off a bit but he still drove like a complete jackass. I decided to pull into a turn lane, to let him go by...as you sped up and nearly side swiped our car. He literally was within 6 inches from the side of our car. I decided to chase him down to the next light to write down all the other truck numbers and inform him that his just risked my families lives in a construction zone as well. I informed him that I would be calling his supervisor and he said, I don't care, go ahead. He is absolutely lucky that I kept a level head, because he was about to be ripped out of his truck.

None of you people other than the previous employees of Estes have a clue about how LTL trucking works. If you would read the damn informatiion online before you rushed into placing an order online you would see that YOU, not the driver, are responsible for unloading the freight from the truck, unless you PAY for additional services such as liftgate, inside delivery, etc.. Sometimes drivers get hung up trying to make deliveries and cant make it to your HOUSE by the time promised. Sometimes things get damaged in transit but still have to be delivered before a claim can be filed. The value of the item being delivered is NOT the amount you paid for it, but the agreed value between Estes and the shipper when the shipment is tendered. Educate yourself before you come onto a website like this one and make an a$$ of yourself.

I was a dock worker at estes for five years, while I hate that whole ### whole company one dude is right its not always the drivers fault you got no idea the ### all of us went through on daily basis. the dock workers have to make the freight fit on a pedal trailer which is normally a 45ft trailer cause a lot of the drivers are fat lazy slobs who are afraid to take a 53 anywhere so freight gets crushed cause we double stack use the forklift to crush and even the dock workers are to lazy to get off the forklift to pick anything up. Freight never gets delivered on time because the inbound crew is to busy picking up all the ### loads that the Harrisburg and westmiddlesex terminals send out to the other terminals and it ###s up the whole day. everyone is a ###in cry baby in the whole company. yellow and roadway go out of business estes hires all the ###s from yellow who are all a bunch of union snotty ###, the only way to survive in that place depends on how much dick you wanna suck. the more time you spend under the dispatchers desk the better you get treated. plain and simple don't work or ship through this company

These complaints are mostly true. Usually the most they pay on any claim is 10 cents a pound, whether the merchandise is new or not. In years past I guess claims were out of control, so they decided this was the way to solve the problem. Now they are are reclassification/reweigh binge, make sure you ask for PROOF if an invoice is adjusted. They are stating dimensions, and weights on inspections that just aren't accurate at times. The drivers at my location were overall very good, the biggest issues I heard were appointment issues, and claims. There is a lack of professionalism at times internally, and no core corporate identity. You know how you can spot a UPS management employee, or a ex Roadway guy for example? It just seems to be flavor of the month from Richmond without really focusing on the basics, or treating customers right. I would stay away from shipping Estes, or working there either, if you have any say in the matter.

Bad experience with ESTES in New Orleans with ESTES delivery. Lazy unhelpful driver. I have Fedex and UPS deliveries and other truck lines all the time. Their drivers are great.. Estes driver is prime example of an employee no one wants. If we had a choice they would never deliver ever!
