Seven West Media / Channel 7 advertising on screen while trying to watch a movie

While trying to watch the 8:30pm movie - Casino Royale on Sunday night 27th September YOU! (channel 7) placed in the bottom right corner of the screen an annoying add showing the advertisment for Flashforward. This was infuriating for me and my family because we found ourselves constantly looking at it and could not concerntrate on the actual movie.

The placement of the add was in a position that made it dominate the lower right of the screen because it was large enough to be noticed like as it it was a subtitle for the movie we were trying to watch ! IT SHOULD NOT BE THERE AT ALL ! This is why people hate TV and get so frustrated with free to air TV.

The ADD was bold, noticable and in a position to be clearly seen and dominate the screen, you guys have to do something about this because I am not the only one complaining about it, try to understand the inconveniance of it, we were all so frustrated that we actually decided to watch Australian Idol on another chnanel because of it!

Inappropriate advertisement for Fifty Shades of Grey - the uncut version showing a woman wanting to be handcuffed or bound.
The news before stated an 18 yo man was being charged with rape of a girl in her own home.

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE.
Someone should contact channel 7 directly, it was so riduculous. During a movie is the only time when there are no ads/logos popping up on the screen. It was so irritating! It's fair enough if they put it there for the first 2 minutes or so of the movie then take it off, but the whole movie?

I have emailed Channel 7 to let them know we thought this was unacceptable too. I switched off Casino Royale last night and won't be watching 7 tonight in protest.

I agree,
don't get me wrong, i love channel 7 and i am looking forward to flash forward, saying this i did not appreciate it raping the bottom right hand corner of my TV for an entire day.

i think the massive signs that pop up at the bottom of the screen 30 seconds back from an add break are bad enough. no need to leave it entirely on the screen for the whole night.

hi,
I absolutely agree with the comments above. to try and watch a movie with a VERY ANNOYING ad in bottom right corner (NOT EVEN IN THE CORNER!) is INFURIATING!
I watch a variety of stations, and when i switched to seven to watch the bond movie - it pissed me off.
no movie is worth that BS!
I'm off to another channel...
GOODBYE...

Seven West Media / Channel 7 brownlow medal &blue carpet& broadcast

Channel 7's broadcast of the "blue carpet" was woeful. They showed about 5 dresses then spent the rest of thetime showing us footballers who can't act, Rebecca Maddern's ugly pink flower dress and Rebecca Twigley's boobs.
It was terrribe there was very little shown of the night, it was all pre recorded interviews about nothing.
If you only have half an hour make it worthwhile to watch, that was not worth it.
and don't even get me started on Fifi Box...

I am extemely disappointed for the 2nd year in a row of the terrible coverage of the red/blue carpet event at the Brownlow. Channel 7 seem to be in constant competition with 9/10/ABC yet the opportunity you had to be a real ratings winner was lost. All I heard today from people I worked with was what a waste of 1/2 an hour. I don't know if you automatically get the rights for next year but I hope your rivals get an opportunity next year to show how it should be done.

Can we please move on from Rebecca Twigley and perhaps notice other stunners on the carpet - for starters The Partner of Dean Cox from the WCE would have to have been the most beautiful and most elegantly dressed on the night. The fact we weren't able to vote for her was very disappointing. SHE LOOKED UNBELIEVABLE.

Seven West Media / Channel 7 2009 afl finals delayed coverage and camera men complaint

To Channel 7,

I am one of many avid AFL supports who live in Sydney. I would like to put forward a couple of complaints about your coverage of the 2009 AFL finals.

Channel 7’s decision to show these Finals games with a 1 hour delay in Sydney.
The shocking camera work during the game.

Many of my Sydney friends and family follow non Sydney teams who have made it in to the finals this year - Crows, Collingwood, Brisbane etc. We are extremely disappointed that the games have been delayed an hour. Last week, the Crows played in a very close game with Collingwood and the fact that we are unable to watch it live ruined the game for these supporters. Because of the delayed the telecast, other networks were displaying the results on their news bulletins.

During the closeness of the game, my Mother switched it over for a split second and in that second that network had flashed the end score on the screen. People from interstate (who may I add were watching it LIVE) were texting results, people on facebook were posting messages – how are we in Sydney able to watch the game we love without it being ruined by the fact that the rest of Australia actually are able to watch it live!

You’d expect that if Channel 7 were the only network to cover the AFL finals, you would at least play it live... I believe Channel 10 in previous years played all finals LIVE! Even in Sydney!

You would have a lot of angry viewers if you decided not to play the Grand Final live... These are important games, and most have been very very close. It would be nice to be able to watch them LIVE!

The second complaint is I think the Channel 7 camera men – or the producer or whoever is responsible for what the viewers see on the tv screen need to go to a course on camera work at the AFL. Too many close ups, half the time we couldn’t see where the ball was because they were still filming the last guy that had the football... It was all over the place and really annoying to see.

As you can see, my overall experience with watching the AFL finals on Channel 7 is not a good one. I hope that if you are continuing to be the only network to cover them in the future you would decide not to delay them, as there are many AFL fans in Sydney (Surprise surprise but not all Sydney siders are NRL fans...!)

Regards,

Unhappy AFL fan.

Seven West Media / Channel 7 sunday night program

After watching last weeks Sunday Night programme at 6:30, Channel 7 (Sunday 4th May) regarding the vaccination debate i was disgusted with reporter Mike Munroe's behaviour.

I believe he was arrogant and opionated in his portrayal of this issue as he would interrupt and try to discredit the anti- vaccination supporters.

Vaccination is a contorversial debate and there needs to be more education for parents. It is the personal choice of parents to vaccinate and I felt that Mr Monroe was attacking parents who chose not to vaccinate

He presented a very bias debate because he expressed his personal opinion at times. He definetely failed at his job as a reporter is to present both sides of a debate in a impartial way.

A man of his experience should know better!

I wold like to complain about an ad on the program Better Homes and Gardens tonight. It is an ad by a naked girl talking about keeping your vagina fresh and is about sanitary pads and it is just so horrific and the wording is totally insulting during any program. There is no need for this type of crude advertising

Seven West Media / Channel 7 pathetic coverage of afl games

Channel 7 should never be allowed to cover the afl season. Today, 3 may 2009, seven is telecasting the round 6 game between sydney and richmond - - from 3pm to 5pm. The game is at time of writing is mid-way through the 3rd quarter. Why isn't the station able to offer live coverage?!? Channel ten do a way better job, and cover the entire event which usually goes on for three hours.

Shame on you, channel seven. If you can only manage a half-baked job, give it up. Even channel nine do a better job than you. Stick to your dancing with the friggin' stars, and let the real stations take care of programming that matters.

The presentation of TEST Cricket coverage, is lamentable, pathetic and lacking in intelligence. Persistently, Commentators have no respect for the VIEWER, READER and LISTENER. They enforce assumptions, that the TRIO are lacking in appreciation of TEST CRICKET. Ricky Ponting, a retired Captain, IS A DEMONSTRABLE EXAMPLE OF A LACK OF INTELLIGENCE AND FORESIGHT. Persistent commentary is is a lack of respect for the TRIO. BLUNTLY, the coterie ought to just SHUT UP. KICK START AND KICK OFF ARE LAUGHABLE in their persistent usage. A P;ayer at the Crease is a BATSMAN, not a Batter. The latter belongs to our American friends. The presentation of a background to Steve Smith, ought to encourage any TRIO to wonder at the maturity of its Presentor.

Channel football, what a joke you are 7. One game on Sunday, Carl/GWS and you cant broadcast it. Typical? does not have Dockers or Eagles in it so the rest of us AFL supporters can go to hell. You are a clueless bunch at seven, i wonder how your ratings are going on a non footy Saturday afternoon or footyless Sunday, then you got the guts to have full coverage on 7 and 7HD on the following Monday at lunch time for Coll/Melb on a eastern states public holiday here in W.A. Seriously Get out of the kitchen you [censor] you cant cut it. Bring back 9 and 10.

Seven West Media / Channel 7 afl not live or not shown

I can't believe it channel 7 you continue to amaze me with your lack of coverage of the AFL season. Whether it be games not live or not shown until midnight or later, you continue to push the boundaries of a station who has no interest of competing in the Queensland market of broadcasting with the AFL season. It leaves me with a sour taste in my mouth, considering the amount of money you paid for the broadcasting rights, how many adds you had preseason and also having the extra HD channels at your whim. Which could easily have Australia's national game televised. I guess last year you did show some games from after half time, so what should I have expected. Channel 7 you continue to disappoint.

Channel 7, is it true that you ceased production of "a place to call home" - and ended it prematurely with an embarrassingly awful episode - because its audience was too old?! If so, one word - "discrimination"! Tsk tsk! Bears looking into, i'd say! Bring it back!

Channel 7, you are the most despicable, tasteless, and unhumanitarian broadcasting network on television. Your nightly news is absolutely disgusting in all its forms, terrible stories designed to strike fear into the hearts and minds of society. How does Peter Mitchell and Co. sleep at night knowing that they have yet again spread a web of absolute rubbish to the greater public? Further, Home & Away serves no other purpose than to try and brainwash the teenagers of this country by portraying ridiculous plots and revolting character relations. Filthy. And for those passionate about sport, football in particular, Channel 7 simply robs them of their weekend release by not only delaying games by as much as an hour (!), they bombard our screens with commercial after commercial after every goal. DAMN YOU TO HELL! Ban Channel 7!

I plan to be able to sit down and watch it at 8.30, no wait, 8.45, oh no wait, 8.50, 9.00, 9.15, 9.30, 9.45. Still waiting. I set the DVD recorder to tape Castle because it is on so late, and now I am going to have to do it for Bones too. Shame on you. Play it on seven two instead so we can watch it at a decent time.

Hi there channel 7.

I'd like to take issue (I feel like we have this talk every year) about your committment to the afl. I live in sydney and love to watch our national game. According to the afl website - you too share this passion - in fact it (You?) states you 'just love the footy'.

I don't believe you.

Take this friday for example. Round 1, season opener between 2 of the clubs with the largest supporter bases in the league (That's essendon & geelong in case whoever is reading this is as ignorant about the afl as your programmers appear to be) , and you're not showing the game until 11.30pm - 4 and a half hours after the game is on. Why? Because, you actually love these at least 3 other shows better in sydney than you 'love' the footy.

Better homes and gardens, 'housesitter' and scrubs are all scheduled to run on channel 7 this friday while the first friday night game of the season is playing live in other states.

Why? I can kind of understand you're regular b&h viewers might get a little upset if you moved it, but at 8.30 you're free and clear! Goldie hawn (?) movies and us sitcoms rate ahead of the game you 'love' apparently.

If you don't want to broadcast the games, give the rights to someone who wants them please!

Not happy with you at all channel 7. I hope this is not a sign of things to come for the rest of the season. Just back yourselves here, keep the people happy and play the footy on friday nights please - you're paying for it, and you 'love' it too after all.

Thanks!
(Afl fan and soon-to-be owner of a crusade to get channel 7 to show live footy ahead of dodgy american tv reruns on friday nights. )

Wow Channel 7- that was some crappy tennis coverage!

- cutting matches for the news/ today tonight/ home and away
- showing commercials while the match has resumed play and we miss the first few games
- SO MUCH cross promotion about shows coming "After the tennis" (very irritating!)
- and Henri Laconte commentating the Tsonga/Djokovic match... all I can ask is what were you thinking?

Lets hope you try better next year or it might be worthwhile just giving the tennis to another channel to have a go, since you're not doing that great a job of it!

L would like to make a complaint, my brother was going to be on the tv show its academic and we had got the whole family to watch it and
Outside family. While we were getting ready to watch it, a news flash came up and said that its academic would not be on. L think this is very poor on channel 7 and l am very disappointed and would definitly take this matter further as it is not just me but other children in sydney.
Instead they put a news flash on something no one cares about - l mean michael jackson didnt die cause he is already dead and justin bieber didnt die cause he is sitting next to me right now. Right now we are having many calls froim friends and family saying why the show isnt on. So l will say again l am very disappointed in channel 7, because the news flsh couldnt wait until 4.30 no it was more important than a few kids on television who are now very upset that they have to wait another few days. To conclude my complaint I would like to state that the tv timing is very poor and whoever is in charge should be put under questioning. Yours unfaithfuly, (Classified)

I find it utterly appaling the channel 7 coverage of the australian open 2017. I am a brisbane viewer and not only do I have to watch the evening live games an hour behind, unable to use another media source in case of getting the score ahead of time; but I was today watching the mayer v. Del potro match only for it to go into an ad and then start playing home improvement - what? Why would I sit and watch a match for it only to conclude with an awful american sitcom. If you're going to broadcast a live sporting event, especially one as prestigious as the australian open then it should be treated with the respect it deserves, as do the viewers. Sort it out channel 7.

I cannot believe that you are putting that dreadful show: "Murder, She Wrote" on at 2 pm now instead of "All Saints".

First of all, "Murder, She Wrote" was outdated and dreadful in the eighties when it was made, so now it's just stupid. There are some shows that you just HAVE to throw away... PLEASE don't repeat it any more. Nobody likes it!

Secondly, what about all the people who were following "All Saints"? I stop for lunch every day and like to watch something while I'm eating. "All Saints" it's not the best show in the world, but at least is more relevant and believable than that stupid "Murder, She Wrote".

I have never written a complaint before but channel 7 need to know that playing one advertisment for an upcoming show so many times has the complete opposite effect of what is intended. The one Resurection ad is played at least 20-30 times per day and is easily the most irritating add on tv. I will never watch the show because of the ad and I know many others who feel the same way. When it comes on, I now instantly change channels. Please channel, put us all out of our misery and be more creative...Maybe create 3-4 DIFFERENT adds for the one show and play half as often.

Very disappointed with how far behind Channel 7 is with the seasons of Once Upon a Time. In the USA they are on Season 6. It is a high rating show and I don't understand why its not on when Swamp people and trucking shows take precedence. If you don't want to show it, give the rights to another channel who will show it. Because you have the rights we can't even buy it on video.

Seven West Media / Channel 7 change in 24 airtime

I've just gotten home from work, hoping to enjoy a night in watching 24. However, after looking at the Channel 7 website (TV guide section), I find out that 24 is not on Wednesday nights anymore, but has now moved to Sunday @ 10:30pm (an hour later than the Season Premiere last Wednesday).

I think I've lost count as to how many time Channel 7 has changed the time slot of 24 so many times (since Season 1) without "alerting" its audience. This is absolutely bull crap and Channel 7 should fire the person in charge of this.

My faith in Chanel 7 has dropped dramatically. In saying this, I hope Channel 9 regains its no.1 position in ratings.

A very unhappy 24 fan.

i was just wondering how hard it is for a channel to let its views know when there cancelling a show.
i brought the tv week as normal to know when what is on.so i find out 24 is on sunday 8th at 930pm.its a two hour esp.i have foxtel, which has the 24 esp on at 1030pm of 1hr.so i tune in at 930pm, no its not on.i tune back in at 1030pm, no its not on.the 7 news is on, so i again tune back in at 11pm.and guess what no 24.im so glad i stayed up for nothing.i guess they screen it some other time and ill miss it.
so again is it that hard to annouce sometime due the night that there will be NO 24 tonight!

Why is it that channel 7 (and the other channels) won't show anyone else but Australia playing sport? For example, they will show the Wallabies vs Springboks but not the All Blacks vs Springboks, or the Boomers vs Dream Team and not Dream Team vs Russia...! Yet in New Zealand, all of the Wallabies vs Springboks or Wallabies vs Wales etc games go to air regardless of their time. Regardless of where you are from, what about the lovers of rugby? Very disapointing channel 7!

Great programming seven! The game of the season and you blokes put it on Sunday, at frikin midnight. Who's programming the sport, do they have rocks in their head or are they being payed off by the NRL? Shame channel seven... You have missed out on dominating the ratings yet again.

Thanks

I want to know why these news stations NEVER cover stories in the Northern Territory. They're currentlt experiencing flooding and not once have I seen or heard a mention on the news once today other than "stay out of low lying areas". I have, however heard all about the bad weather and flooding overseas... what about our own people Chanel 7? Here is one story on the local Katherine Times facebook page: The Foskey Pavilion has registered 448 people, with one more bus en route from Batchelor expected to bring the total to just under 470 evacuees. “A number of activities are now being planned for the evacuees, in particular the children, ” Region 2 Controller Commander Bruce Porter said. A minor flood warning has been cancelled for the Katherine River at Gorge Road as the tropical low continues on its predicted track. “The tropical low has moved east as predicted. The Bureau of Meteorology has cancelled its cyclone watch, but a severe weather warning is now in place for the same area, Port Roper through to the Queensland border. “I continue to urge everyone to exercise extreme caution on the roads and to consider the necessity of their travel plans. Anyone setting out should check the road report website through Secure NT before they set out to drive anywhere. “The last thing we want is for anyone to become an unnecessary statistic. Your safety is our priority.” Water levels across the Arnhem, Carpentaria and Gregory districts are being closely monitored, including the Waterhouse, McArthur and Victoria Rivers. Police and NT Emergency Services continue to search for the 28-year-old man who went missing in floodwaters near Peppimenarti on Friday afternoon.

Again, we deaf and hard of hearing people were let down by Channel 7's subtitling facilities.
Last night on 'Dance with the Stars' the subtitling was terrible, was downright rotten in fact. In the News before that the subtitles were not coming on either. I have noticed the decline in the quality of subtitling in recent months when at the beginning it was voted No 1 by deaf folks.
How would people react if the voices of commenators were of substandard level? Or if the voices came across in spurts and spasms? Yes, a major outcry!
I am tired that we deaf people are always 'at the bottom of the ladder' and marginalised and it is about time that a fair go be given us. I remember when subtitling first began, nearly all deaf people I knew always switched on to Channel 7 News and other programs all because Channel 7 was the first to subtitle (out of loyalty). I will ask around now and see if they the deaf folks are now disappointed with channel 7. I hope Channel 7 will look into this matter of why the subtitling was not effective last night. This morning the news subtitling was back to normal, great!

I am absolutely disappointed at the coverage of the Australian Open 2011, chanel 7 has only broadcast those matches played from Australian players. Yes, I understand we want to support those athletic professionals from our country but sometimes it be nice to watch the famous players play. No offense, but I rather watch a match from someone like Roger Federer then an un-seeded Australian player. I get so fed up that I don't even watch the tennis anymore.

Our family found it extremely annoying when Channel Seven suddenly changed the schedule for a certain programme. Last week it was 8:30, and remained the same for two weeks. Then, YOU changed it to 7:30, and all of a sudden we were watching Criminal minds and had completely missed the show! Worst of all, we couldn't watch it on the internet and it was a much-awaited show for us. This disappoints us, because it is not the first time this has happened. Ten, however, is an extremely reliable channel, as it shows the channels and the times which they will be viewing weeks into the coming months. This has been a major let-down, and if this happens again, that will be the last straw. We really hope this doesn't happen again, as many people we know are now swiching from Seven to Ten or ABC, more reliable channels than Seven. Please make sure tis doesn't happen in the future, or you will lose some viewers. We will appreciate it if you take this to mind.

I would like to complain about the absence of effective coverage of the Haiti earthquake.
As we all know on January 12th, more than two hundred people perished in a freak natural disaster.
This event was not caused by any god, but by movements of the earths geothermal plates.
Perhaps this absence of a human force can explain the grave imbalance between coverage of events such as September 11th, 2001 and the beforementioned earthquake.
I rarely watch channel seven, and make a special effort to avoid any news coverage from the channel; and now my convictions are confirmed.
I sat for at least fifteen minutes, during which time I saw a story about credit card fraud, a visit from one of the Royal Family, and a story about the possibly flailing plans of the NSW government's Metro scheme for the city of Sydney.
While I'm sure these stories hold some resonance for viewers I think there are undoubtebly more significant events taking place in the world.
While I'm sure there has been some coverage since January 12th, I think perhaps more than two minutes could be afforded to the story.
I have read reports of incompetence of behalf of the United States, and an overall feeling that an invasion, not a show of unmitigated support, is taking place. Yet this found no mention in the 6pm news.
Nor was there any mention of the efforts being made financially to support the ongoing tasks being performed by the extraordinary people trying to assist this ravaged island.

Of course this is an unpleasant story; of course it is easier to watch Prince William kissing the cheeks and shaking the hands of his excited Victorian fans, yet I think a network which commands a great number of regular watchers, who turn to them for the news, must take responsibility and play it's part.
Media must face the facts that it too plays an undeniably crucial role in the relief effort. Only coverage of the event will spur those sitting at home on their couch to react, to consider how lucky they are, to consider helping out.

Thanks

I understand the need for advertising to pay for the tv shows that we watch but it is beyond a joke how many channel 7 squeeze into a game of AFL. Everytime there is a goal there is an ad, sometimes 5 in as may minutes. It seems that channel 7 see a game as an opportunity to screen as many ads as possible and don't care about the viewers at all.

Endevouring to watch commercial TV, I find it hard to get the theme of any of your shows with your adverting interupting every five minutes. I understand that you need to advertise to be profitable but there is a difference between profit and greed. With all the extra new stations and the obvious increase in adverting give the viewers a break and PUT SOME PROGRAM IN BETWEEN THE ADS...PLEASE.

Offgrid with No TV reception, how can i enjoy Australia's national sport, the cricket?

All my friends and i dont watch Ch7 anymore because of their poor support for us cricket'ers. Stick with Ch9, they help those with no TV reception and those who are financially poor. Ch9 is the home of cricket, not Ch7

We do not receive channel 7 transmission in our area very often. All other channels are fine, channel 9 is pixelated occasionally. If that is the best FREE to air can do no wonder why pay TV is popular!. Increase your signal strength so we can enjoy our TV experience. Regards Dale Widdicombe.

When Jeremy Cameron was injured through an accident or not, with his teammate, all commentators missed it, yet I saw it plainly on the TV at the time, and also once he was down, they did not even pan back to him, so the cameraman and the producers, and the commentators all hopeless

Channel seven's new smash show BLOW UP must have crawled from the rubbish bin of lost ideas. To try to showcase balloons as a new funky fresh concept is laughable. Balloons are an environmental disaster. Not an innocuous harmless bit of fun. Scrap this show and bring yourselves into the 21st Century.
