Just found and replied to their Craigslist ad in southwest Michigan. Spoke to Daniel, a housing coordinator, stating they're based out of Golita California. He claimed they had 18 houses in my area available. All I need is $199.00 to register. He said this covers registration fees, title search, document preparation, property search. This sounded very suspicious as I know that anyone can do a property or title search at the courthouse ourselves for free. It's public record. I backed out of the "interview" process without giving them any credit card information. They do have my name and phone number, although I refused to give my email address or any other information he requested. I believe and agree with all the information stated above by other complaints. Buyer Beware! This IS a scam! Run from this "offer" as it's NOT legit!

this is a scam and needs to be a class action lawsuit against this company for taking people's money making them believe that they can take over payments of someones home. i am very angry because it was my last 199 dollars and i could have used that to find a real place to live for me and my disable brother. this is very cruel and heartless and should be punishable. when you go into a agreement it is to be with good intentions not to deceive someone on purpose. Now i am still in the same situation, having no place to live, homeless. Now what do i do? does anchor house financial obviously do not care about any one or anything except how they can deceive another person who believe in honesty.

Anchor House Financial Mortgage scammers

ANCHOR HOUSE FINANCIAL
aka ANCHOR HOUSE SERVICES

They spam Craigslist with ads supposedly for foreclosed property, usually with “TAKE OVER PAYMENTS” headlines, and one of the following toll-free numbers:

[protected] & [protected] & [protected] & [protected] & [protected] & [protected] OR [protected] …

When you call, they claim to have a list of foreclosed properties which they will sell you for $199, and they demand your credit card number. When you question them as to why they want the money so quickly they get really rude.

[redacted].com has several entries on Anchor House.

Anchor House Financial FRAUD

Unbelievable. I called this number on craigslist, knowing that it was too good to be true. But, what the hell. Right? WRONG! They advertised $700/month mortgage take-overs on pre-foreclosed houses. I figured that with the economy, anything is possible. The guy on the phone explained that I put $199 as a down payment and a no credit check (which doesn't matter b/c I have great credit, but not a lot of money to put down). So, I figured it was a good deal. I asked where I could view the list and he asked me "what credit line do you usually use?" I said Visa. He said "what's your expiration date on the card?" I replied, "why do you need my credit card information?" First Red Flag. He said "you need to put the $199 down now, but you get a full refund if you don't purchase a house. We will send you a list of houses to your email." He told me that all I had to do was call customer service if I didn't find anything and they would refund my money immediately, and they would honor that refund for up to one year. I asked him where I could find that information in writing and he said it would be sent in the email after I gave him my credit card number. Second Red Flag. I immediately looked up the Terms and Conditions on the website and about 1/2 way down I found where it said that in order to get a refund (which they only honor for ninety days) you had to send certified mail to Anchor House Financial with at least 5 denial letters from homeowners. Third Red Flag. I immediately read out loud to the guy what I found on the website, explaining that it was totally different from what he told me and he said "I don't know, that's just what they told me to read in the script." Are you kidding me? I laughed and said, "you realize that you're ripping people off, right?" And then he hung up on me. How do these people sleep at night? If I had $199 dollars to flush down the toilet I wouldn't be looking online for foreclosed houses. Like I said. Unbelievable.

I found an ad for AnchorHouseFinancial online and very likely advertised by their agents saying how their website helped them out to acquire unbelievable houses for cheap. I was very interested and called them. Being very doubtful about beautiful and colorful picture they described I asked whether I'll be able to get refund if I decide to cancel membership. The agent explained that all I need to do is to call with cancellation notice. That's all?-I've asked. He said, that's all I will need to get my money back. I agreed and paid the $199 and hoped things worked out. Later on in our research we found that they have no connection to the home owners. They just make you print out a paper talking about the company and how great it is but with no help. After giving out at about 25 letters we had heard nothing back. After over of two months of hard work, we gave up on them. I called an asked for cancellation and money back. They told me that we needed to receive 5 rejection notices in order to receive money back. They didn't listen to me even though I referred to their agent who told me about cancellation over the phone. I sent them official letter over mail, no response. Later I tried to enter to my account but they locked it. In order to unlock I will have to accept their new terms. They were rude and concealing assigned to me agent every time I was calling to them. From one side I can't get those rejecting letters, from the other, I didn't had to even do that. What's the solution?

Back in September 2015, I was browsing CL for a place to rent. My family and I had just moved to Twin Falls from Las Vegas. My husband and I were looking for a private owner due to our credit. When I came across the add, it said I could own a home in pre-foreclosure with bad/0 credit. So I thought what the hell, I'll give it a try. I called the number and the gentleman told me I would need to pay $199 to have access to all the homes in whatever area/zip code I desired. So I paid the $199, and got all my log in info. Once I logged on the company seemed totally legit with lists of homes. So I was looking in Twin Falls and Boise. I found over 100 houses that my husband and I were interested in. So we sent out all these letters (over 100). We even decided to drive past some of these places to check out the area. I was quite surprised because these houses were extremely nice; However I thought ok, maybe it is possible because I know some doctors and lawyers buy houses and then something happens. Maybe they lose their practice or maybe they lose their license. So we continued to send out letters to all the homes. Some of them received multiple letters from us. What I thought was weird but never looked to deep into, was that the people with Anchor House Financial stated that on the website I would find pictures of the inside of the home. I was also told for every 10 letters I sent out I'd receive at least one letter back. If that was the case I should of heard back from 10 people. I have been in contact with my bank and they are going to fully refund the money. I also plan on filing a police report and contacting a lawyer as well. I should of done my research but I was so excited that I could of became a homeowner that looking into the company was the last thing on my mind. To be honest I probably wouldn't have even figured this all out if I didn't contact my bank on Saturday to talk to the home-loan department. When I talked to a loan officer that's when I found out I had been scammed. Please stay away from this company. I have put Scam postings in my area of CL but that will only go so far. If you have been scammed I'm terribly sorry and I hope you can retrieve your money.

I must thank you for having the courage to take these steps... NOT only by bringing awareness to the fraudulent acts of ANCHOR HOUSE but, by initiating actions against these "pirates" through the suggestion of a CLASS ACTION SUIT. Because I too, am currently a victim of this scam, I would like to volunteer my services. I legally sort to secure a home through their "pre-foreclosure" program. After an overture of promises made to return my cost (or deposit) of $199, I wholeheartedly participated in their mail-out plan which also committed me to a 90 day delay for response wait-time permit. After 40 some odd days I called to follow-up on responses and was told that their weren't any. When I complained about "returned to sender" mail I was receiving, they simply told me to resend them (which I saved). On the 50th day, I called to cancel my account and receive my deposit back and was told I had to submit 5 denial letters from homeowners that rejected my offer. Which, didn't make any sense since, none of the homeowners felt the need to respond in the first place. When I informed them that I had collected 5 "returned to senders" letters still in my possession, I was conveniently disconnected. I live on a fixed income. I cannot afford to lose $199! If there's a way for me to get my return and possibly be compensated... and also see these people civilly punished, let me know... Please keep me in the loop at: 1hrael@gmail.com

I have been reading all of your comments and I feel so bad. My Friend just fell for this scam. I work in Florida Real Estate and there is a law for inaccurate listings here. I called The California Board of Realtors to find out what the law is over there. From what I am seeing though, in order to sell real estate Pre-paid listings, they have to be registered and licensed. I also could not find l the entity name registered with the secretary of state, in addition, the names of the supposed "owners" Mike Davenport and Susan Quinn are not realtors. I looked them up too. Anyways, if I get any substantial information that can help I will re-visit this page and update everyone. My heart broke for the mother who lost her husband and ended up homeless. So sad. If at any way possible, maybe this should be take up with the Federal Trade Commission.

Anchor House Financial Refund

I feel like this was a rip off I want my money back. I shouldn't have to send anything my money should just go back to my card when I request a refund. I wasn't told I had to do all that to get my money back I was told after 90 days I could get my money back if the service didn't work. I will be reporting you all to the BBB because in this day in time people don't have money to give away. Hopefully you will be the next company to go out of business. THIS WAS SUCH A SCAM AND I'M GOING TO TELL EVERY PERSON I KNOW!

Anchor House Financial Scam Operation

I sure wished I would have found this website a few days ago before falling to the Anchor House Financial Craigslist scam. I wondered about the ads they had posted--the costs of the houses varied, but the photos were all the same and of course, only showed houses that one could hardly believe were being offered so cheap.

I called and fell for it--paid the $199. I gave them my credit card number and asked the name of the gentleman taking in--he offered it to me several times! (Probably was a fake name!...) Anyway, never got the email with the website password to view the houses. Tried calling back on the number he told me to call and only was able to leave a message. Now that I've read what they do provide you if you are lucky enough to ever get it--it's not even worth pursuing.

It comes down to "if it's too good to be true it is". Be careful of any real estate listings on Craigslist with a toll free number to call.

Beware if a craigslist real estate ad:
-has no local address, no local phone number or contact info
-has a GMAIL address
-has a toll-free number
-has different rent prices in the subject line and ad body/graphic

Flag the scam ads!

Anchor House Financial Unauthorized billing

I signed up to Anchor house Financial in tre hopes they would help me find a home that I could potentially purchase by taking over the payments. They never sent me any paperwork that they said I would be receiving in 5-7 business days. So I contacted them with the support number the girl gave me and she gave me the support number to another business, RT home search, which has given these services to me for free, once they realized i had not signed up with them and was potentially frauded.

Called Anchor Financial inquiring about a home in Brookline Ma asked the agent if they were a broker when he RUDELY stated it was Anchor Financial. By the tone of his voice I felt as though I was bothering this extremely RUDE poor example of a human being so that is exactly what I asked him to find out if he was to busy and perhaps he could get back to me. He then informed me that I WAS bothering him I quickly apologized and told him EXACTLY what I thought of him... Not so nice thank goodness we never got far enough for this thing to get my credit info as we have all found out they are SCAM artists shame on them hopefully they know what goes around comes around!

I requested info from Anchor Financial House about the possibility to take over delinquent home payment. I specifically told the man not to charge my card and he assured me that it wouldn't, but two days later it was charged. When I called to find out why they had charged my card and to get my money back, the woman I spoke to told me that they would issue me a refund, but they will have to find the recording of my conversation. I kept on calling and they told me they don't have any recording of my conversation, but still refused to refund me my money. Instead I was told to wait for 90 days and to go read the terms and conditions. If there is anyone else who had been wrong by that company and is interested in filling a petition, please contact me.

Anchor House Financial Lied

I saw this listing, knew it was too good to be true. But with the market hurting as it is, though it just might be possible that.
Their rep was excited and very sweet. Telling me everything that goes into the buying process and everything they would do for me (which was everything) after I view thousands of homes that they had available.
Then she said that it would only cost me 199.00, and nothing else afterward.
I asked if its all right to call back after I check reviews. She quickly said that since they are a private company they're would be no reviews. And just hung up.
Well, since she could no stay on the phone to give me a contact number, I guess she realize that I won't be sucked in and quit on me.

Anchor House Financial Awful company

First off, even though you paid 200 bucks for them to give you a list of houses that are on pre-foreclosure you still have to drive around and find out for yourself if these homes really exist because they provide no pictures of them whatsoever and no way to contact the people by phone.

When you do find the homes you will find out that these homes are not on pre-foreclosure and never was depending if you even get the chance to talk to the people living in them. Some you will find have already been sold and never was on pre-foreclosure at all.

If you ask the people living in the house if their home is up for pre-foreclosure, expect for them to look at you like your crazy and hear the answer no. They have this contact form for you to send through the mail to the home owners.

On this form they want you to put your name at the bottom but Anchor House Financial's address as though now it seems your working for them. They don't even leave a phone number for the people to contact them. I know if I wanted to give up a contract on a home and let someone else handle the mortgage so my credit wouldn't be screwed up I would want to contact these people right away by phone and not send them a message through the damn mailing system.

One more thing, you can forget about getting your money back. Read what you have to go through and how long you have to wait in order to get your refund. I copied this straight from their website in the Terms and Conditions. Services: In the case of Services, a full or partial Refund towards the price paid by the User to purchase the Service may be made provided:

1. Requests for refunds will be accepted after 90 days by certified mail. The request must include at least 5 denial letters form the homeowners you have contacted through Anchorhousefinancial.com

2. The Company has, to its sole satisfaction, verified that the delivered Service was materially deficient in providing the Service as stated in its Service Description on the Web Site at the time of Purchase.

3. The verified deficiencies of the delivered Service were not caused by events outside the control of the Company such as slow internet connections, weather, etc.

Who the h*ll is going to remember they are supposed to get a refund after 3 months!

I hate to admit this out loud but i too tried working this company. It was only a matter of hours before ii realized this was a scam. As shameful as it is i tried to do the job any way and found i couldn't sleep at night. I always said i would do whatever it takes to take care of my family but found that to be untrue! I could not in conscience continue to work for people who are morally bankrupt and display no knowledge of ethical behavior! Every day folks were calling in saying they were already signed up and trying to 'work the program' but addresses were to empty lots, owners that knew nothing of being 'listed' with this company. They periodically change their name to throw people off and manage to keep their doors open another year. 11 years of this BS. I think it's time someone figured out how to shut them down! It may be legal, but ethical? Hell no!
