This woman named *** ext. *** has extreme attitude and would not work with me whatsoever and has been completley unaware of the conditions that covid-19 has placed on individuals.

Business Response Through our trace efforts we located a telephone number XXX-XXX-XXXX which an unidentified female answered. The female confirmed the consumer is not home and will be home later in the evening. The agent then asked when would be the best time to get in contact with the consumer the following day? The women then replied in the morning. The agent left her contact details with the women. we have removed the telephone number XXX-XXX-XXXX from our file and no further calls will be launched to that number.

Common Collection Agency Im trying to start paying a debt

Im trying to start paying a debt. I received an email April 15 to resolve my debt before it escalates to the next level within 10 days. On monday April 19 I left a message and sent an email to *** and had no response. On tuesday I called and spoke to reception who after explaining my situation told me Mr *** wouldn't be in until next week meaning my account will likely be escalated to the next level due to seeminly complete and utter unprofessionalism. The receptionist was also *** in no way willing to help in any way other than giving a start time to a department that was gone this week. Im ready and willing to begin to resolve this but I don't need more stress from just waing for a *** debt collector.

Business Response Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Common Collection Agency (CCA) is committed to assisting customers with resolving their accounts. On April 20th the CCA Supervisor received a message from the customer, Mr. ***, and on April 22nd, after the regulatory hold period expired, Mr. was contacted by the Agent handling the file. After a brief discussion with Mr., during which he said he owes taxes and that someone collected CERB under his name, a payment plan of $175.00 per month was offered and agreed upon. However, when the CCA Agent asked for the first payment Mr. said he cannot make the payment and terminated the call. Since then there has been no other contact with Mr.. On May 6th a follow-up attempt was made to reach Mr. by phone, however, there was no answer. It should be noted that the email received from Mr. requesting a call is dated the same day as the above call and it was received at 9:07am. The call above was on 9:55am. It should also be noted that the payment plan that was offered is 50% less than the monthly minimum payment required as per the Credit Card Agreement that was established with our client. Upon receiving the complaint on May 11th the file was placed on hold pending investigation and the outcome of the complaint. However, if Mr. wishes to discuss the file, we encourage him to call the Supervisor, Mr., at X XXX XXX XXXX extension *** .

CCA has sent me a letter for collection of $1072.96 alleging I owe it to ***. I have records from *** verifying the loan was paid off in full and NO payments were ever missed. ***. I have received many phone calls on my cell (a number that was never provided to ***) allegedly from *** over a peridod in excess of 1 year. I have also received clearly fraudulent letters (the letterhead is a poor imitation and the person it alleges to come from and the division of *** do not exist). I was having fun giving the callers a hard time, with them threatening me with immediate arrest by the RCMP ***. However, now that an identifiable corporation is involved *** I want action taken against them.

Business Response CCA has investigated the account and will be speaking with the bank for verification and will cease the account until verified. It would be clear from a simple observation of the contact information that the initial coorespondence was NOT from ***. There is no reference as to what will be done about the fact they are participating *** and what they plan on doing about that. The response still leaves the possibility that through some further *** on their part, I may continue to be *** hounded. And, it has taken months for them to say they will contact ***. This could have been done months ago and resolved. I have since filing this complaint been contacted several times by CCA as they continue to involve themselves, now indisputedly knowingly, in a fraud. They have been told at least three times, twice by phone, that they are participating in a fraud yet continue on, only now, at this late date indicating they will check. *** Business Response Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. On October 16th 2020 an account in the name of Mr. *** was assigned to our office for collection of the balance in full. A notice from our office containing the details of the account was sent to Mr. advising him that the account was outstanding. An email was then received from Mr. claiming that this account was ***. Upon receipt of Mr. email, our office immediately suspended any further collection activity on the account so that we could commence a thorough investigation. Upon notifying our client of Mr. claim, our client confirmed that the outstanding balance on the account was not fraud and was actually related to 2 payments that Mr. had previously paid and was returned as insufficient funds. The 2 payments in question were the two final loan payments for a vehicle loan. Our office would like the opportunity to discuss the details of Mr. account with him and come to an agreement in resolving the outstanding balance on this account. Our office can be reached at X-XXX-XXX-XXXX Ext. *** Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) First I was *** for months by phone *** that had access to my loan information. They were obvious *** in that they called at all hours of the day not knowing what time it was in my part of the world, threatened to have the police come to my location to arrest me (not something bankers do) and did not know who the police were in my part of Canada (it's RCMP but they didn't have a clue). Second, when I laughed at their threats and told them that my bank communicates with me by letter, they sent me a letter. It was an obvious fake. The letterhead was not correct. It came from a division of *** that they made up; "Collection Canada" at *** doesn't exist. It was signed by the vice president of ***; vp's don't sign routine correspondence with clients and actual letters from *** are not actually signed at all. Third, then I get contacted by these *** at CCA telling me I owe them money. Fourth, the *** could never identify which payments (i.e. dates) I was supposed to have missed. And my bank records show all payments were made. The claim in the response above that it was the two last payments that were missed is ludicrous as the *** started months before the last loan payments. This is also the first time that any indication as to whicch payments were in contention. But, since they started the *** long before the last two payments were due, this is even more evidence of them being ***. Fifth, I have a letter from *** (the real one)confirming the loaan was paid off in full. Sixth, CCA still indicates that I owe them money. They say they contacted their client and were told they were legit. They DID NOT contact ***. They contacted "their client", the ***, I conclude. So, CCA is either so woefully *** they cannot see the *** for what they are (the fact they can't get my name straight leads some credence to that claim I suppose) or they continue to be culpable in this *** claim I owe them money. This is a public complaint to the BBB. I have no interest in having off the record conversations with ***s or *** nor do I wish to give them any appearance of legitamacy by agreeing to discuss how I can reach agreement to pay a debt I don't owe. This business should: 1.Acknowledge their fault. 2. If unknowingly participating in this fraud identify their client so charges can be pursued against them. 3. Commit to not participating in these scams against me or anyone else. Again, this morning at ax 9:15 am pst, this collection agent continues to phone a business line, demanding to speak with one of my employees. Last week they phoned several times and refused to identify themselves. This week they finally deigned to identify themselves as 'CCI'. I had to look up the phone number on the internet to determine who they were. I am not obligated to allow my employees to take personal calls at work, nor am I an answering or message service. I do not need to consume payroll hours fielding calls from a a collection agent looking for a third party in the first place, least of all one who fails to adhere to the standards of conduct proscribed by law. I regard these telephone calls to be ***. This is not an appropriate number to use in attempts to contact any of my employees.

Business Response We have conducted an investigation and our records indicate the file was handled within the guidelines. The phone number for the place of business was promptly removed from the file by the agent after being told not to call the number. When the agent first called the business number on file the male that answered the phone was polite and professional. He provided the phone number for the location where the customer can be reached. The agent proceed to call the number and the other male that answered the phone was *** and *** to her. He answered the phone by saying "identify yourself" and the agent responded without any hesitation. After she asked for the customer by name he said the call was *** and dropped the call after swearing at the agent. The call was less than 25 seconds. We trust the above is satisfactory. If you require any further information please feel free to let us know. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The response is only partially factual. As the person in charge at the complainant place of business, I authorized no-one to provide personal contact information for any of my employees as this is a written policy at this business. I did swear at the agent whom refused to identify herself (#209 per the call display) as I swore at all subsequent agents whom continued to contact this business line attempting to contact an employee while failing to follow the act as is my right of free speech. The employee in question advises me she has never been contacted at her home number by this agency and therefore per the act the collection agency is NOT within its right to attempt to contact her at work. In no case are they (the collection agency) within their rights to attempt to do so repeatedly. I suspect the collection agency has employees who fail to abide by the act. The manager with whom I spoke on the date of the complaint was polite and professional unlike the preceding agents under her supervision. We have not logged any calls from this collection agency following the date of the complaint. Should they continue to refrain from *** us at this business number we do not feel the need to pursue the matter further, though we have forwarded these communiques to our legal and accounting depts. Business Response We can appreciate the company's policy and concerns. Our response is based on the information we have on file. As indicated before, the company's phone number was removed from the account. We will continue our efforts to reach the customer at the home number and address on file. Very disturbed to know my name and home phone number was collected and i was called to have a debt collected. The debtor has a completely different last name, however this company flagrantly took a name that looked like the "one" and start making collections calls to me. When I called to clear the situation, I requested a letter stating that my number and name were never part of your collections list and that they will remove my information from their list. The person I spoke about the case #XXXXXXX, told me she will not send anything and she hung up. I told them I will continue escalating this issue, to be aware I am filling a ComplaintsBoard.com complaint about their *** strategies to catch debtors. We have investigated and our records indicate that the complainant's number was retrieved by our office from a trace lead on this account. Our agent placed one call to the complainant's number and once they established that the phone number received was incorrect, the agent instantly flagged the number on the account as do not call and assured the caller that the number would be flagged as the wrong number and there would be no further calls to the caller pertaining this account. As we do not provide to caller's letters stating that their phone numbers have been flagged on accounts, we are motivated to resolve this matter. We can assure you that we have fulfilled our promise the complainants phone number has been flagged on the account as do not call. My civil rights to privacy were violated the moment I received an *** collection phone call without making sure the person on the phone was not the intended. It disturbs me profoundly that just because my last name seems alike to the person who the collection agency is trying to nail they assume without confirmation of identity that it is ok to *** a person from the public just because you got a misleading information. There should be more strict regulations to avoid this kind of accusation and violation of my privacy. I require a written letter from the collection agency stating what they just said and a public apology for their flagrant violation of my rights. Placing my name as not the intended person and that my name is clean. If they are motivated as they said, a simple letter will do the job. More importantly it will motivate them to be more careful in the future to accuse people without making sure who they they are before putting my information on a arrear account. We were simply attempting to confirm the right party and did not at any point attempt to collect a debt from her, violate her privacy rights or place an *** call to her. Upon her returning our call, she notified us that it was the wrong number and we immediately flagged the account as such to ensure no further calls would be placed to her phone number from our Company regarding this particular account. This is our official response to which Ms. will obtain a copy through your organization and we are now considering this matter closed.

Dec 23rd 2020, a collections for *** was paid in full per agreement with Common Collections Agency. I have submitted letter of agreement with Common Collections Agency, copy of bank draught with amount agreed upon and letter from *** noting monies are for full payment of *** collections. I've been requesting with *** and *** of Common Collections Agency to send me my letter of closure for the *** account paid in full. In which they said I would get once payment has been received. It's been 5 months, still no letter, will not address my phone calls or emails. Another issue is Common Collections Agency is still reporting negative on my credit bureau. These are false reports for Jan, Feb, March and April as the account was paid in full Dec 23rd 2020 I want my closure letter to be sent via email immediately, credit bureau to be corrected as account paid in full, account closed, along with negative reports removed

Business Response Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We have conducted a full investigation and our findings are as follows: On November 4, 2020, we sent a settlement offer letter to the customer, Mr. ***, offering to settle the account with an expiry date of November 9, 2020. On January 26, 2021 (over two months later), we received a money order for the settlement amount offered in November 2020, however, the offer had now expired and the money order was forwarded to our client, *** as the account was closed with our office. Common Collection Agency Inc. does not report *** accounts to the credit bureau and therefore, any credit bureau items would have to be discussed directly with the customer and ***. As the account was closed with our office, all email communications received previously from the customer were sent directly to *** for handling. Since receipt of this complaint, *** has been notified and have been in touch with the customer. We have been advised by *** that Mr. is working with *** to resolve this matter. Sincerely

Common Collection Agency Hello, I am a cosigner of a vehicle

Hello, I am a cosigner of a vehicle. Mr. (the one who was driving the car) found himself in some trouble with the payments so he called the bank and was honest with them so the car was picked up sometime late October or November. I was NOT made aware of this. If a repossession occurs, the cosigner gets a written notice making you aware of the repo which i did not receive. I received a letter on December the 2nd from *** and I have looked everywhere which I can't find. To be honest I think I put it with the papers of the *** At that time I asked Mr. what happened and that's when he made me know that the car went back and that he will pay the $7000 something. On the 24th of January a letter was sent to me that I owe $27,000 plus from a collection agency. You can only image what how my heart stopped when I opened the letter on Feb the 7th for I was not in town. I spoke with Mr. and he was also shocked for he did not know what and where this came from? He did tell me that he contacted C.C.A and all the women said was that he has to pay this and they do not have payment plans. He also told her where and how did you want me to come up with that amount and for a car I do not have. He also called *** and left a VM that he has no phone and would he please email him so that he can get this rectified. (to date no one has emailed him) I had made some calls to *** and could never get him and was not able to leave a vm for I was not available by phone. In fact i was not to use anything that had any kind of radio waves. On the 19th of February my colleague sent me a msg indicating that a Mrs. kept calling for me and would not leave her number or why she was calling until that day! Why would they leave the businesses name and embarrass me and *** my colleagues like that? I left a VM for her that evening to STOP calling my work place. I finally was able to call and leave a vm for *** on the 24th of February that I would like to have a conversation with him on Wednesday to discuss this letter that I received from him. I did call left a vm and he called me back and did not have much information for me and that he would look into it and get back to me. I also asked him why he did not send Mr. the information he asked him for and said.. he can't tell me. He called me then next day left a vm and I called him back. the first thing he said to me was that I was lucky that he answered the phone because he does not answer blocked calls? What? Are you not a business? I told him that this is how my phone is programmed in making outgoing calls. ***. I ignored it and then asked him if he can kindly send me the letter that I had signed for on the 2nd of December from *** and he said ok but you have it. I told him I can not find it and that I need a copy. He then says, well I know you have more then one property so you can take a mortgage on that and pay me. I said what? Ya and I see here you have a line of credit so take it from there. I said I have no idea who you think you are talking to...please send me the letter and I will contact yo once i receive it and hung up! The next day Ms *** calls me and i asked why is she calling me when i have been speaking with ***? He put me on hold and passed me to ***. *** says ... are you upset with me? I said yes. He said why? I said because we had a conversation already and asked you to please send me that information. He starts yelling at me (where my colleague was right beside me) and says... I had enough of you I'm going to sue you! I hung up the phone *** Please help me get to the bottom of this.

All outbound contact efforts were within the framework of our responsibilities. As a business we are primarily interested in contact with liable parties, as such we welcome all inbound contact and return all messages left for our agents to facilitate said contact. As a consumer the complainant has requested specific documentation and the documents have been forwarded to her. We appreciate the complainant's situation and extend our sympathies. Our only intentions are to assist in resolving the outstanding issue through open communication and where possible, to ensure all liable parties are provided the information necessary to make sound decisions. We remain open to inbound communication in the hopes it would expedite a solution with mutual benefits. I had advised the person that was calling me that I was missing a document and after he said he would resend it to me, he called me the very next day saying he would NOT resend the letter because I already had it (even though I explained to him i did not) and instead of waiting for me to receive this letter he proceeded to tell me that he knows I have money and I need to give it to him! (I have a witness to this on he was speaking to me so cocky and just saying , you better pay) That's when I said "who do you think you are talking to" I took it upon myself and I called *** where they were finally to track this letter down and send it to me. I did not receive the letter from this company! I also explained to the person on the phone that i was calling but i did not get him on the line and could NOT leave a number where I can be reached because I was out of town when I received his letter dated January 24 *** I am still waiting for this company to send me the letter on how this went from *** to a collection agency without me knowing anything? (again...he said he would get it for me) I cosigned a paper to finance a car...where is this car? I would like to deal with this matter with the fiance company ***. The person that was yelling at me saying'I'm tired of being nice to you and I'm going to Sue you" has yet to forward me papers that he said he would get for me to show where I was asked that there was a rear in payments and that I was to A)pay B)take over the vehicle C)sell it myself or D) give the car back Where he AGREED that I was CORRECT and said he did not have that information on hand and that he would get it for me. So please, kindly tell *** that her response is is incorrect and unsatisfactory! Thank you!
