Clayton Homes the bad built home

We have had nothing but problems, broken windows, sewer smell, unlevel floors, carpet lost fibers one month after we moved in. No keys to sliding door. Weak spots in floor. Cheap appliances. Sink cracked. Doors will not stay set, they have tried to fix them several times, right now there is daylight around one, they bent the frame pulling it into our lot, bad. Then did a shoddy repair, I have tried to reach giles no one will respond. I am going to get a lawyer. This was supposed to be our retirement home, but this thing will not last.

Clayton Homes modular home - well issues

For the past 3-4 months my family had many issues with our new home built less than 6 months ago. My husband and I have called at least 20-30 times, if not more, in effort to resolve the various issues with the home. One specific problem was the water pressure and sediment in the water. I've replaced 3 filters on our new system (out of my pocket) due to the Brown water in the home.

I hired my own plumber (I had to pay a fee) who advised there is sediment getting into the well water. This occurs on a monthly basis. Their plumber came out after 3 separate requests to get someone out to resolve and finally did something—-readjusted the well. This did not resolve the issue. We are still unable to use the water in the home. We would like to be able to drink and bathe in our new home. This should not be too much to ask, I believe this would be expected when someone builds a new home.

First, why would you not call the client back for a simple follow up, to make sure all is well. Especially since the family in the home has no running water.
Secondly, why do I still have this issue after all this time
Thirdly, hire the proper party and have them diagnose and resolve ASAP.

It is extremely frustrating to be placed in a never ending cycle. I do not take pleasure in living in this new home by Oakwood. Not just because of all the issues in the home itself, but, the lack of empathy and drive to resolve a homeowners issue.

Clayton Homes poor quality

In 2007 i bought a Clayton home that came out of the White Pines TN plant, was pleased with that home. I recently purchased a home that came out of the Giles plant, this has got to be the sorriest put together home i have ever seen with the Clayton name on it.Both entry doors are in such a bind that my wife can hardly open and close doors. There are numerous moldings that do not mate up, there are no three way light switches, which means you have to walk half way across house to turn on lights, no shelves in cabinets, it took three trips for repair people to get shower door to open right. It took Freedom Homes of Roanoke five months to get us in our home, that, s right, we live in a camper from the end of April to the first week of October. After we closed i found out that they did one of there turn key homes from start to finish during this time instead of working on getting us in our home. VERY DISSATISFIED!

I am his wife. The kitchen cabinets are so cheaply made. The cabinets aren't hardly wide enough for my dinner plates to sit and still shut the door. I have never seen such. Like my husband said NO shelves in lower cabinets, we ask that they put in drawers at 1st and we were told no. Every kind of change we wanted to make was a NO. But yet when we ordered the home we heard now let us build it the way you want it. The paint on the walls is a dull flat paint. It is already messed up because if you even lean on it it makes marks. Why wouldn't they use gloss or a better quality paint. We had a Clayton an was so satisfied but this house is NOT. It will not last long til it will have to be remodeled starting with extra lights in kitchen over the sink. I can't believe they didn't put one there. The master bthm lights aren't even centered over the sink. 1 is in the corner over a cabinet an the other 1 over the 1st sink . NO light even close to the toilet and its a huge bthrm. Ad we have a real small window clear up at the top of wall. Was supposed to be down lower on bthrm wall. No light switch at the other door into bthrm. There is way to much to keep listing. I'm still shaking my head of such crappy work. They ought to have to refund some money. I will never recommend this company to anyone. Clayton from White Pines is a good company. But from Giles is horrible!

Clayton Homes payment and service

I brought a house from Clayton Homes in Bryan, TX. They did the key turn over on 10/10/18. I moved in on 10/13/18 it was a Saturday. On Sunday 10/14/18 I heard a hissing noise while I was sitting on master bath toilet. On Monday I called the manager Christian. He told me to call Telanna who is the service manager. She has a service tech come out that same day. The service tech Steven came out and found a leak in the master bath shower so he fixed it. When I came home around 5: 30pm that evening I saw mud on my carpet and mud in the bathroom. I text Christian and asked him what happened to my house! I know someone was here due to mud being on my carpet but I was never contacted by anyone. Once I set the text message right after I received a call from Telanna. She explained that there was a leak and Steven fixed it. I told her that there is still a hissing noise and water in the masterbath. I took pics and sent them. She said to dry it up and I did. Water kept coming out. So I dried and took pics and sent. Then I saw water under the sink, on the wall to master bedroom, in the closet. More and more water spots. She had Steven give me a call. I told him water spots are showing up everywhere. He told me to turn water off from main valve. While I was doing that I saw water spots in laundry room. Took pics and sent them again. He called back and told me to drain all the water in faucets and toilets. He said leave the water out until someone can get out to the house. Tuesday morning Dusty a plumber called me and said roads where closed due to the flooding in our county. He said he will be out as soon as he could. So today is now Tuesday and no phone call, no one calling me at all from Clayton Homes. Roads are opened but no one came or even a phone call. So my brand new home will never be brand new. I sit here with my 2 kids and no water, and damaged house. I'm contacting you because I'm supposed to make my first payment November 1st and I have no water and a severally damaged house. I don't think a payment should be made until my house is fixed and properly running like a new house. All the walls and floors will need to be replaced and whatever else when someone figures out where the leak is. If someone could please take the time to be a human being and contact me about my payment I would truly appreciate it.

Thank you
Megan Horton

Estimate for whole roof 22000.00 . Hone first ( also Berkshire- Hathaway company sent a check for 2800.00 . Said to patch it. Sept. 6, still under tarps. Home First still stalling, wanting more documentation. These people are liars and thieves. If you have Insurance with them, find a legitimate company.

Clayton Homes the whole process.

We picked out model of a home from Shallotte NC Clayton Homes. Feb. 2018 placed a 10, 000.00 deposit for the home with some extras. April home came into Shallotte NC Clayton Homes. I had already purchased a lot in a near by location. I had to pay for home in full before they would set it on lot which I was a little leery I wanted to hold out a 10% retainer fee to ensure things were done right they said that was not policy. So bad decision on my part I paid the total remaining amount. The writing was on the wall if I only knew. The day I paid in full I asked for a key so I could monitor the process Clayton told me they only have two keys for subs to use but the door will be open from 7 am closing and locking doors around 6pm. I live about 3hrs away so I would come down on Saturdays. The doors were locked finally after 4 dives down I called Clayton of Shallotte and they told me I couldn't go into home because of liability reasons. I reminded them that is not what they told me seems they could care less. Back in Jan. 2018 I sent Judy a drawing how I wanted home set and driveway so they had the drawing upfront before final figure. During site survey phase they tried to set home where Clayton and surveyor thought it should be set at. After 3 or 4 trips back finally got what I wanted after doing it myself. There are so many hidden fees they don't mention until time. These hidden fee were water hookup, power meter hookup, Building permits. They had my money so they could careless at this point in the game refund was not option so pay for all the hidden fees. Judy sent me a txt which I don't think it was intended for me a contractor in the txt he was requesting the contractor raise their price because she needs more money out of me. Now we are 3 month over from when we was suppose to be in home. Person installing driveway say they cannot install driveway for the amount Clayton set aside even though I sent driveway drawing month prior. Clayton now say I need to pick up the difference or go out and find someone that can put it in with the amount Clayton estimated it for. My response way that is not my job. We are at a stand off pay extra "AGAIN" or hire legal services to resolve the issue. They were constantly loosing documents that was suppose to be turned into different places. I would call and they would ask if I could resend or they submitted the paper work which they hadn't. I know many documents I sent to Malcom and Judy 4 -6 times. When you purchase a life dream you don't think you need to make daily notes you just want to enjoy the experience, big mistake. I think this place is corrupt after that txt that was mistakenly sent to me.

Clayton Homes half assed construction and attention to details on order sheet

I purchased my Clayton home in December 2017, when it arrived in Feb 2018, I found several issues right up front. They did not follow the order sheet and intalled the gas line in the wrong location. They installed the shelf over the laundry area even though it was deleted as I have a stackable set. Some how the clowns managed to at least install the plugs in the right location. The Lino bubbled in every room and Clayton at least bought that out. They installed the island so close to the refrigerator that I had to take the doors off to pull it out and plug it in. Clayton still has not sent the materials for the island move as promised. There are paint spatters all over the house in places it should not be like inside a can light in my livingroom. Talk about amatuer work! There are several other issues throughout the house. because the I can't hang a ceiling fan in my dining room because the light is not centered over where the table goes and even a small fan blade will hit the wall. I paid for wiring and bracing and can't us it. I pissed money way on half assed work and construction. Now the shower in the master bath does not drain correctly and I am still waiting to hear back. I have written two letters to Clayton expressing my total dissatisfaction with my home the second to the CEO and still no response. Clearly customer satisfaction and service mean nothing to them. I feel like I was robbed. I hate my house and I hate Clayton homes. I am beyond pissed and I would not recommend Clayton homes to ISIS!

Clayton finally reached out to me but only after I turned to their social media platforms. Further, I have learned that Clayton only has a 1 year factory warranty while others like Palm Harbor, Oak Creek, and Athens Park have a 5 year or longer factory warranty. Don't buy Clayton!

Clayton Homes non refund of good faith payment

In 2016 we applied for a loan through Clayton Homes with many of their lenders that they use. For a modular style home. It was in Marion Ohio. Our contact person was Lori. We had bank statements with proof of a 20k deposit and 3 acres, possibly 5 if needed, of free and clear land. Our credit score was low but they assured us that it would make sense to pay a $500 payment to Clayton Homes as a sign of good faith on our part. So we did and received our receipt of said $500 payment. In the end we were told no creditors would lend to us. Probably due to our credit score. We accepted that. And we decided to work on our score. We asked for our $500 back and were told by Lori to let them hold it and if we decided in the future to go back and try again it would be there. At this time we told her it could take a year or two. She said not a problem. The money would always be there and held in account for us.
Forward till now and this year I was diagnosed with cancer at age 43. We decided we needed to go another route and buy a home that has recently become available on the same street as our family land and property. It is pertinent to get our affairs in order before something should happen to me. So we got our receipt from Clayton Homes out of the safe and decided it was time to get our money back.
I contacted the Marion Ohio office by phone 3 times and spoke with John. John assured me he would have someone get back with us by phone. 2 weeks passed and nobody contacted us. So I went into the office and was sent to an office where Laurie came in. She assured me that fed ex delivers on Fridays from the main office and our check would be there on Fri Aug 3rd 2018. I explained we would be out of town and I would be in on Monday Aug 6th to pick it up. She said great. I went into the office that Monday and was advised to talk to Sean the general manager. It was the most uncomfortable and demeaning conversation I could ever had imagined. He stated basically how dare we try to get our $500 back after all this time had passed and that that account that those funds are held in may not even exist anymore. He said his sale associate should never have told us it would be there this long. But then I got the next promise. That it would be returned the next Friday, once again when their Fed Ex shipments come in. So I waited again. I was to call him that fri morning and arrange to pick up our check. I was assured this was his priority. I called and once again got the run around and was told to call back in 20 minutes. I did and was now given to someone named Janet to whom I was told I should now deal with. Janet assured me she would be contacting me Monday morning Aug 13th, which is today, and I have yet to receive any such phone call. We want OUR money asap. It is ours. It does not matter why we want it or how your system works. It is OUR MONEY. Period. It has been a month or more of this and my husband and I have had enough. I have the original receipt. My husband was on speaker phone all times I went into Clayton Homes and tried to resolve this and he heard and participated in all conversations had pertaining to this. Our next step is to call 6 on your Side out of Columbus and also channel 10 news for a story if this is not resolved asap. This is a horrible way to conduct business and Clayton Homes of Marion should be ashamed of themselves. We are demanding some answers.

Clayton Homes repeated water line breakage

copy of email sent to clayton homes in Bossier City, LA

I contacted Clayton Homes Wednesday, Aug 8, 2018, to notify you of my yard being flooded from my water line breaking yet again. When I didn't hear from you that day, I contacted you again on Thursday and was told that the manager had been notified and you were looking for a plumber to repair it. Today is Saturday, Aug 11, and I still have not received and answer, or a call back on the status of my repair. Meanwhile, my 2 options, are to be without water in my home, or let it continuously run from the break in the pipe. My water line has broken at least 13 times in the last year. I have paid more than double in costs of water bills, (all for wasted water, more than $1100.) I have shut my water off many of these times, while waiting for your repair people to show, only to be in my home with no water for more than a day. Obviously, this is not an emergency for you, but I don't like not being able to enjoy luxuries in my home, such as, washing clothes, showering, cooking, drinking water, washing dishes, flushing toilets, etc. I have come into your office before, while waiting for more than 3 days for repair of water line, and was told that I could shower at my sisters house next door while I waited. That is the most unacceptable answer to my problem that could have ever been given. This is definitely not what I would have expected when I purchased my home. I purchased a warranty so that I would be covered for mishaps. This has gone far beyond mishap. After the 3rd or 4th time my water line broke, I knew that there was a significant issue with the construction of it. Every time there has been a repair, it is only been a patch job. The real issue has not been investigated or repaired. I have been patient throughout this year while waiting on repairs. It took a year to get screens on 2 of my windows (right size, wrong color), have my tub repaired, which was broken by your contractor, and one single shower tile that needed replacing because of cracking. When notified of a needed repair, I should not have to call continuously, asking about when someone will come to repair it, but apparently, from previous times, that is what I have to do. This is still not the only repair needed to my home, but it is by far, the most important at this moment. I am still waiting on a repair date, before I have wasted hundreds of gallons of water. If we can not rectify this issue, I will have no choice but to involve a 3rd party.

Clayton Homes very poor built home

I have had problems with our home we purchased in 2016. It was a 2015 model that was suppose to cost 29900.00 plus tax. In the end I paid 52000.00 because they SAID it had upgrades of which you cant see. The only reason I paid was I needed the home, could not wait any longer or I would have been homeless with my family. Any way, I have called local office in Snowflake AZ numerous times, then contact corp and finally local came out to look at issues. They fixed some of the issues, lied about it being level, water leaks around doors when it rains, moulding coming off all over floors dip in spots, windows are now becoming hard to open and close, doors hard to close and open, need I freaking go on. I want this all fix to brand new or another house brought to me. I am done with all this. if I do not get something soon, I plan on the Class Action Law Suit that I believe is pending. I have taken pictures, even sent them to corp no response. Clayton knows what is going on, they built it with cheap materials and only mask the issues when they come to make repairs. I do believe there may be some fraud involved at a company level.

Clayton Homes repairs not done

I've purchased my home back in March of 2017 and I have numerous repairs that still need to be done. I've reached out to the Conway sc office where I purchased the home from. They sent out someone back in April to look at what need to be repaired and to get an estimate and as of today I havent heard back from anyone from your company.

I've contact Bill King thru emails without any response. I have problems with my floors being uneven and 1 wall in the living room area where the sheet rock looks like it wasnt any good before they put it up. I did had some painting that they were suppose to come back and do but I took care of that my self.

Can someone please get in touch with me or point me in the right direction as to where I need to turn to next.

Thanks
Jerome Bacchus

Clayton Homes unethical behaviour

We have unknowingly purchased a Clayton home the Belle model, and it has taken them forever to get it set up, and as they are gluing things together (for cosmetic purposes), we notice the bathtub was not the brand we ordered and some of the furnishings we purchased was not what we ordered. We have met so many people online that are having the same problems like stealing your tires and other parts to resale them we saw where they were sued for this practice and they did it to us, and we paid for our tires. Our tile is falling off, and we have water leaks that have caused mold problems. We keep hearing all these "We will take care of it" but no one calls you back, and then they hang up on you and are rude. We had an Investigative company contact us after reading our complaint Hawks Investigations Inc. from Tallahassee Fl. We were interviewed and told to get legal representation as soon as possible. Buyers beware we are at our wit's end and are afraid that we are going to end up like some of these other people having to lose our home because it is making us sick.

Clayton Homes zoning survey not pulled/home placed in setback/failed survey

I purchased and closed on my land home package March 28, 2018. Today is July 10, 2018 and my girls and myself are STILL NOT in our home! We are working with Oakwood homes on Patton Ave Asheville, NC. They failed to get a zoning survey done, which was required. When it was done, it FAILED! They placed the home in the setback. So they are having to wait to see if a variance will be issued for the home to be able to stay where they placed it. IF not, they home will have to be removed, the foundation, decks, and retaining walls will all have to be torn down and start completely over! I also received a water bill, for a home that is currently unlivable, for almost $200.00 because they hooked up the water improperly and there has been a water leak. I have been mislead, misinformed, and flat out lied to. I'm beyond frustrated. They home buying experience is suppose to be a happy and exciting time, this has been anything but! Ive called the customer advocacy dept, guess what no return call. Big surprise! Im filing a report with the BBB, and seriously considering calling the local media and hiring an attorney!

Clayton Homes services and poorly built home

We bought a this home in Hickory NC to be built in Maiden NC. We dealt with a very unsettled gentleman by the name of Josh and our sales guy was Mack which tried to do what he could, but not much luck. Date of incident would be the 1st week of Nov 2017 when we 1st moved in to this POS. 1st of all we were promised something then original sales guy got fired then new sales guy came in and had no clue what other sales guy was doing. Clayton homes tried to have us spend more money than what was told. Install was longer than told. I have lumps underneath my carpet and vinyl maybe from plaster or something that never got cleaned up. They had to exchange dishwasher and microwave. Install a unfinished cabinet on the inside and still not fixed, toe kick still not on and crown molding. Ceiling in master bath is showing signs of roof having leak. It is coming through and looking black and moldy looking. My front porch siding has came off. My front railing is very poorly constructed with gaps where not needed. I have boards on front and back porch that are coming up. The paint on the walls look like 1 coat and in various areas can see where needed another coat. I am so disgusted with the repeated service calls to my house and really nothing has been done. Service is suppose to come this Saturday June 30th to fix everything. I will not hold my breath but hoping it all gets done if not i will keep posting complaints and eventually get a lawyer involved. This is not even a brick or stucco home and the amount of money for it is ridiculous. I hate we wasted our time and money on something so poorly constructed. I will never recommend Clayton Homes to anyone.

Clayton Homes the shingles on the roof.

I have a 2012 double wide that I bought in 2013. I have constantly had to go on the roof and put shingles back on. I called the local clayton homes I purchased the home at and they said it was nothing they could do. Is the roof not have a 25 yr. Warranty. I have build a garage onto the home and I don't have any problem with the shingle on it coming off. It would be nice to get a little help here if possible.

Well, when we first moved in 3 years ago, we were informed that everything passed inspection and was ready to go. After about a week, we found out all of our water and flushings was going into the yard. They had to come out (actually we had to be the ones to find the people) and dig up all the sewage. They then hooked it up for good to the line to the city. Of course they tried to charge me as it was in the contract I said no.. anyways, since we moved in, the trim has been peeling off the walls, it's so thin with tiny staples it barley stays up. Our shirts get hooked on the walking. Our drawers were put together with tiny fragile nails as well and cheap material resulting in the whole drawer to come out in the kitchen. The walls are thin and cheap 2 holes so far from literally nothing. The sink handle wasn't put in place it falls off all the time. The wall where out TV goes has an electrical outlet that hangs out of the wall. (We fixed that now) the kitchen stove has a huge problem that is UNSAFE whenever it rains it rains down the shoot where the fan goes. I hired a guy to come fox it apparently he said this is common in these Clayton homes 😠. The floor peels have 3 spots that need heavily replaced. It's only been 3 years. Most of this happend in the first 2! Also the shingles are flying off the roof left and right! The lawn guy keeps finding them. I am DISPLEASED. I want to have this stuff fixed. We've paid enough on this house.

Clayton Homes warranty fraud

Annie Barnett in Somerset KY Clayton has used my warranty Tabitha Perkins to purchase things for her daughters mobile home. I did not give consent and made the comment my home owners insurance had increased some and she commented they used my warranty to get Mariah a toilet and a few other small things. I used my warranty for a pair of window blinds and some dry wall that had been damaged.

They always give you the run around. I bought a home warranty and had mortgage insurance, both turned out to be the same company and denied everything. My house is 7 months old, and they stated every issue was due to wear and tear. My HVAC unit was wired wrong and not one of my windows sealed on the side. Each had a 1/8th inch gap on both sides and every time the wind blew my curtains flowed in the breeze.

Clayton Homes 2015 breeze

We purchased the 3 bedroom, 2 bath Breeze model brand new 3yrs ago. Both bathroom door knobs broke in the second year. Cannot close or lock either door. 2 out of 3 bedroom door knobs are broken. Began when the door knob locks wouldn't unlock and we had to remove entire door knob to free my daughter from her bedroom. Toilets in both bathrooms don't work well and often get stopped up. Have to use plunger several times a month. Cabinet doors are made of partical board and the surface has rubbed off around handles. 3 cabinet doors have fallen off. Contacted Clayton Homes in Rocky Mount where home was purchased and they gave me their repairman's number but I never heard back from him even after leaving several messages. Master bedroom closet shelves fell down and we had to rebuild it by installing new sturdier bar to hang clothes on. Washing machine water pipes in the wall came apart without us knowing it. When we filed a claim with the warranty company it was denied because they said water leaks weren't covered even though pipe came apart inside the wall. My husband and I are very fortunate because we bought this home as a temporary dwelling while our new home is being built. We only have about 3 more months until we can finally move into the new stick built home. It has been helpful living on site through the process but if we had it to do again, we would not recommend Clayton Homes to anyone. I know that none of the issues we've had will be fixed without us spending quite a bit on repairs. My recommendation instead is to save your money and purchase an existing home or go with a builder like Red Door homes, America's Home place, or other contractor. I'm sure none of them are perfect either, but the quality is better and the cost isn't that much more . Our new home is being built by Red Door homes and so far we've had a wonderful experience. Do your research and explore your options. You'll thank yourself in the end.
