checkatrade.com is alright. I reckon it could be better if they had more protection for us customers.

I am a landscaper and I recently had an experience with Checkatrade that I would like to share. They called me up and promised me the world and more, and I was excited to try out their services. They gave me a 3-month free trial, which I thought was great. However, I quickly realized that there were some errors with their system. My phone number and postcode were not showing up, which meant that I didn't receive any phone calls for work during that time.

To make matters worse, I noticed that they had taken a payment of £143.99 out of my bank account. I was not happy about this, but they did reimburse me and apologized for the mistake. They also gave me a 4-month free trial, which was supposed to be £99 a month after that. However, I only received 2 calls in the next 4 months, and I received around 4 calls asking if I was Steve the locksmith. It was clear that there were still errors with their system.

I decided that I had had enough and told them that I was done. However, I later found out that they had taken 2 payments of £143.99 out of my account without my agreement. They were also telling me that I was in arrears for a month and that they would not close my account unless I paid another £143.99. I was shocked and didn't know what to do. I am still getting billed every month for no service from them, and they refuse to close my account without payments.

I would advise anyone to stay away from this company. They lie, take money from you for no service, and then try to trap you into payments. It's not worth the hassle, and I wish I had never signed up with them in the first place.
