I am the POA for my 80 year old mom and I was just informed by the nursing home she was taken to Cedar Sinai ER. I just arrived here and was told I could not see her and she is waiting in the hallway. My mother has chronic Alzheimers, has limited language ability and can not walk. I am distressed to know that the ER nurse Kim McGroarty would not let me in to see her as she is unable to communicate or advocate for herself.
Desired outcome: When disabled, highly impaired elderly patients who have limited cognitive ability arrive and a family member they know who can advocate for them arrive they must be allowed to see them.
