Casago review: Father in law deceived and list of issues

MY FIL was told by Casago/Vacasa that the beach was a 5 minute walk from the house. It was VERY steep 5 minute walk down the highway and a 10 minute DRIVE to the beach access.

Here is the email I send property manager Shannon Duckson on the Brighton Blue house in Rockaway about all the problems the house has. She promised a full refund. It is way over priced and vastly under furnished. Casago and Vacasa are liars and scam artists.

Email: Exterior - Would recommend landscape company to keep up to date. Lawn below would look great with weekly cut. Now it looks long, shaggy and unkept. Gravel driveway is mostly weeds and moss. Let it all grow in or keep clean. Vines starting to cover stairs and firepit area. Needs a whacking back. That stuff grows fast and will take over the property without care. Front hillside full of berry briar vines and a lot of overgrown/dead stuff. Sleeps 12 but outdoor chairs for 5. Might want to balance the whole house with enough for 12 in seating, eating, drinking, towels etc.

Disclosures - Father in law and wife told beach was a 3-5 min walk. There isnt a beach within a 30-50 minute walk. FIL feels deceive to get a booking. Seriously a bad look for management and owner.

Instructions. With a big house need to have more how-to and what's in a room. Just my opinion but for a great stay people don't want to be searching for everything. Our places we labeled what each switch was for when questionable. Label cabinets for what is in each one for easier searches

Interior Room feedback
Living room - No heat. Need to have space heater available for use. We used the oven with an open door to warm it up for the older folks that are extra cold. Kids fine and when you get enough bodies in the house it warms up. One light bulb out in living room. Most guests wont care but the picture windows facing west in LR and DR are very old alumni. They sweat a lot and create mold colonies on all sills. Housekeeping or someone needs to bleach and clean weekly. You dont want a guest with mold allergies complaining online about mold in the house.

Kitchen - Label cabinets with whats in each one. Instructions on using over stove hood. We could not figure out how to turn on lights nor fan. Need that fan as the whole LR DR fogs up without it. Dishwasher was a no go for us. Never used it. Washed it by hand daily. So get a tray for drying rack to reduce water spilling all over. Asking guest to take up the entire kitchen with a dishwasher they have to roll over and hook up to run is a huge ask and a water leak disaster waiting to happen. Sure charge 150-200 a night but 400+ no one wants to do that.

Upstairs queen bed - Wall heat ok but slow to warm the room. No drawers or luggage stand. Father in law suitcase on the floor and at 85 bending over to get in and out is inconvenient. Closet full of games and cleaning supplies. Who wants that in their room? Sheer curtain let in deck lighting and morning light for those on vacation wanting to sleep in.

Upstairs bath - No fan and when you try to open the window it is very loose and slides crooked. Worried it would break so we didnt open it. Invest in adding fan or replace window.

Upstairs bunk beds. Already have 4 bunks downstairs. Feels like trying to hard to increase capacity for rental price. No closet hanging space. Tell new arrivals to turn on heat immediately to warm up the room. Good once warm but with trickle heat and no blower it takes a while. Sheer curtains. Lets in morning light. I dont care but some guests want blackout curtains to sleep in

Staircase down. Handrail not on wall for last 3 steps. Could be an insurance liability and old folks need it. Had to hold my FIL hand to get down stairs to watch sports in downstairs TV (why there isnt a tv upstairs IDK)

TV - no channels. That is nuts. Went to tillamook to get a roku and had to subscribe to channel to watch sports. Huge waste of my time and money for the absolute basics for a short term.

Bunk room - no closet, no drawers no luggage stands. Everything on the floor. Sheer curtains again. Light etc. I get it. Its cheap coverings and a new owner that put a ton of money into this old house already needed to cut expense with cheap curtains and blankets, brought in most of their home furniture and appliances it appears to save money and refurb their home and painted just the outside of cabinets with a brush and white paint.

Downstairs bath - No towels in the BR and no note where to find buried in the bottom drawer in master downstairs cabinet. Need a wastebasket with lining down there and in both bathrooms get a sign up to remind NOTHING EXTRA DOWN the toilet. People arent use to septic and will kill it so fast. Ive had it happen

Downstairs King - No closet to hang. No luggage racks. No drawer space. One cabinet is full of towel and supplies. The water heater is in this room and is LOUD. It wakes up people in that room every night at least once. The room also has a bright green light that flashes from the alarm or some fixture every 60 seconds and never spots. It is bright in the dark and for some will be highly annoying. All light bulbs are dead on nightstand lights.

No laundry baskets to do multiple loads to hold wet load while another dries or move around clean clothes for guest and clean sheets etc for cleaners.
