Carfax Carfax accused me of hit and run, devalued my car, and won't accept proof of innocence. Terrible customer support

I had a really bad experience with Carfax. I was accused of a hit and run and had to go to court twice to prove my innocence. Luckily, the case was dismissed, but Carfax still says that my car was in an accident, which has devalued it. I supplied them with letters of disposition that show the tickets were dismissed, but Carfax says I need an updated police report. The Irvington NJ Police won't give me one, and they're only giving me the letters of disposition, which have the court letterhead. Carfax says that's no good, even though the tickets were dismissed, and no one was pressing charges against me, just the police. They said I was innocent, but now I have to get a lawyer again to prove my innocence, but now it's for a Carfax report. It's incredible that they have this power to make the innocent pay money. The customer support was bad too.

I'm really frustrated with Carfax. It seems like they don't care about the truth and just want to make money. It's not fair that they can devalue my car based on false information. I wish they would listen to me and accept the letters of disposition as proof that I'm innocent. It's not my fault that the police won't give me an updated report. I don't know what else to do.

Overall, I would not recommend Carfax to anyone. They don't seem to care about their customers or the truth. It's a shame that they have so much power over the value of our cars. I hope that someday they will change their policies and start treating people fairly. Until then, I will never use their services again.

Carfax False Frame Damage Report by Carfax - Seeking Legal Action

I gotta say, I'm pretty upset with Carfax. I've had my Porsche 911 since 2016 and they're reporting "frame damage" on it. But get this - there haven't been any accidents! I talked to my insurance and the police in California, and they don't know anything about any damage. So I took my car to Porsche in Newport Beach to get it inspected. The service and sales managers looked at it from top to bottom on a lift in the service department, and guess what? NO DAMAGE.

I've been emailing Carfax since February 2019 and they're just ignoring me. It's not right. If I try to trade in my car, I'm gonna lose about $30,000. That's a lot of money! So I'm gonna contact my lawyer and file a lawsuit against Carfax. If anyone else wants to join in, send me your info at ***@gmail.com. We gotta put an end to this.

I already filed a complaint with the BBB, but I'm not stopping there. If anyone has any suggestions or knows of any other lawsuits against Carfax, let me know. This is ridiculous.

Carfax Carfax Report Inaccurate: Waste of Time and Money

I recently received a car from my father-in-law, a 1988 model with only 14,000 miles on it. It was like brand new, but just to be sure, I decided to run a Carfax report. The report came back with a reading of 110,000 miles, then 117, and then in 2014, when new tires were put on, it read 14,000 miles again. I emailed Carfax and sent them copies of the title and dealer proof, but they never got back to me with anything useful. It was a waste of my money and my time.

My father-in-law bought the car brand new and never drove it more than 5 miles a week. But Carfax's six-digit odometer reporting from Florida, where it used to have emissions tests, put the mileage all wrong. Carfax refuses to do anything for me, and it's a complete waste of time and money. I even sent them a copy of the title, and if you look at the date and the mileage, it's unbelievable.

Carfax's logo is "if it's on the Internet, it must be true," but that's just not the case. They rip you off and their service is not worth crap. Stay far away from Carfax and save yourself the trouble.

Carfax Carfax Reports: Worthless and Deceptive - No Liability for False Information Provided

with the service provided by Carfax. I recently bought a truck and decided to run a Carfax report to make sure everything was on the up and up. The report came back clean, stating that there were zero collisions. However, upon receiving my title, I contacted the original owner and was told that the truck had been in two accidents - one where they hit a deer with the front end and another where they were rear-ended. Neither the seller nor Carfax disclosed this information.

When I reached out to Carfax to express my frustration, I was told that there is a disclaimer at the bottom of the page stating that they are not liable for their reporting. This means that their reports are essentially worthless and provide no real value to the consumer.

I am currently trying to file a claim with the BBB, but I have been told that because of Carfax's disclaimer, what they are doing is not against the law. It is incredibly frustrating to know that Carfax holds no liability for the information they report, leaving the consumer to pay for a worthless report.

Many businesses in our area boast about using Carfax reports, but now I know the truth and others should know as well. This company should be held accountable for their lack of transparency and forced out of business. It is unacceptable to provide false information to consumers and then hide behind a disclaimer to avoid any responsibility.

Carfax Beware of Carfax: No Response, No Report, No Refund

Yo, listen up. I gotta tell you about my experience with Carfax. Lemme just say, BEWARE. Don't expect to talk to a real person or get any response from their "contact us" form you fill out online. I've submitted a bunch of requests for help both online and via voicemail, but I ain't heard nothin' back from them EVER. They took my payment real quick though, no problem there. But when I tried to sign in after giving them my payment info, I couldn't access no report. It kept telling me my email was already associated with another account. But I ain't never used Carfax before. So I tried the "forgot my password" thing, which asked me to enter my email so they could send me my password. But I did that a bunch of times and never got no email. If I coulda gotten info about a car, it mighta been helpful, but I'll never know. The bottom line is they take your money and then leave you hangin' if somethin' goes wrong. I sent them a bunch of emails and voicemails askin' for a refund, but they never got back to me. So I had to file a dispute claim with my credit card to get my money back. And even now, I still ain't heard nothin' from them.

Carfax Beware of Inaccurate Carfax Reports: My Experience

I had a car that was in a pretty bad accident. Someone hit it while it was parked on the side of the road. The driver's side was completely messed up. The axle and tire were folded under the driver's door. It was almost totaled. But when I looked at the Carfax report, there was no mention of the accident. I was pretty surprised.

Later on, the timing belt snapped. I didn't want to deal with it, so I sold the car as is. But again, the Carfax report didn't mention anything about the timing belt. I thought that was weird.

The Carfax report did say that I took the car to the dealership for regular maintenance. But that wasn't true. I usually went to those fast oil change places. And I definitely didn't go as often as I was supposed to.

When the positive battery cable went bad, I didn't want to spend a ton of money at the dealership. So I went to a local mechanic who made a custom cable that worked just fine. I also replaced the camshaft position sensor myself. I ordered the part off of Ebay. But the Carfax report said that the dealership did all of that work.

The only things that were actually true on the Carfax report were that I got new tires and had the car smogged. Everything else was wrong.

I'm not sure who reports to Carfax or how they get their information. But I do know that the information on the report isn't always accurate. When I sold the car, I made sure to tell the buyer everything that was wrong with it. But not everyone is as honest as I am.

So if you're thinking about buying a car and you're relying on the Carfax report, just be careful. The information on there might not be completely true.

Carfax Carfax's Unqualified Opinion Cost Me Thousands: A Frustrating Experience

I recently had an experience with Carfax that left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. I was looking to trade in my trusty 2005 Toyota 4Runner for a newer 2013 model. However, when the dealer pulled the Carfax report, it showed that my vehicle was scrap and not drivable. I was shocked and confused as I had been in an accident, but it was not a major one and the repairs were nowhere near the value of the 4Runner. In fact, the airbags didn't even deploy.

Unfortunately, I didn't have time to search around for other options as I wanted to take advantage of a deal and it was the weekend, so I couldn't reach Carfax. I ended up accepting scrap value for the trade-in. It wasn't until later when I was finally able to reach Carfax that they explained to me that the vehicle must have been totaled due to the nature of the accident. However, the repair shop denied reporting anything to Carfax.

After exchanging information about the repair with Carfax, they reluctantly agreed to reverse the scrap value assessment. They told me that the scrap assessment was based on the data they received. However, the resolution took a few weeks, which was frustrating. I felt like Carfax was not on my side and it ended up costing me thousands of dollars towards the trade-in because they inserted their unqualified opinion.

It's important to think about the fact that Carfax looks best when damage reported is inflated. My guess is that the Carfax input was through the police accident report. While I appreciate the service that Carfax provides, I think it's important to take their reports with a grain of salt and do your own research as well. Overall, my experience with Carfax was not a positive one and I would caution others to be wary of their assessments.

Carfax Beware of Carfax: My Experience with a Damaged Car from Carvana

I gotta tell ya, I had a real bad experience with Carfax. I bought a car from Carvana a few years back, and they gave me a clean Carfax report. But when I went to trade it in last year, I decided to get another Carfax report just to be safe. And boy, was I surprised when I saw that they had added a "Damage Report" from four months before I even bought the car! Can you believe that? Carvana sold me a damaged car and didn't even tell me about it!

So I contacted Carvana and showed them the new Carfax report with the "Damage Report" on it. And you know what they did? They offered me three grand less than what the car was worth! Can you believe that? I mean, I know it's not Carfax's fault that Carvana sold me a damaged car, but still. It's not like I knew about it when I bought the car.

And let me tell you, that "Damage Report" was a real joke. It was incomplete, with only a diagram showing damage on three-quarters of the car and a little note saying "NOT ALL DAMAGE IS CAUSED BY AN ACCIDENT. GET THE CAR INSPECTED BEFORE YOU BUY." Well, that would have been nice to know before I bought the car, wouldn't it?

Honestly, I don't think Carfax is worth the money. If you're buying a used car, you should get a signed agreement with the seller that says the Carfax report doesn't show all the damage the car might have. Because if you rely on Carfax, you might end up like me, with a damaged car and a lot less money in your pocket.

Carfax Unfair Carfax Report Cost Me $1000: How Did They Find Out About My Accident?

My car got hit by someone and the trunk lid got replaced. It was fixed up real good and looked like new. But when I tried to sell it, I found out that the Carfax report had some info about the accident. The online car buying companies offered me $1000 less because of that report. I was like, "What the heck, man?" I asked the police, insurance company, and repair shop if they talked to Carfax, but they all said no way. So how did Carfax find out about it?

I called Carfax and they said they got the info from a "repair facility." But when I asked them to give me more details, they wouldn't do it. They said the "repair facility" didn't want to be known as the source. I was like, "That's messed up, man." I asked Carfax to give me more proof, but they said the "repair facility" didn't really mean a "repair facility." What the heck does that even mean?

I found out that this has happened to other people too. It's not fair that someone can lose thousands of dollars just because of a little scratch. Carfax needs to be held accountable for what they're doing. They're hurting innocent people and that's not cool. I hope someone brings a class action against them so they stop doing this.

Carfax CARFAX's False Report Cost Me $3k: Take Action Against Them!

CARFAX done messed up big time with my vehicle report. They said there was some serious structural damage from an accident, but that's just straight up false. Ain't no damage to the frame or unibody, but they still went ahead and listed it as a problem. I didn't even know until some dude who wanted to buy my car pointed it out to me last week. I've been trying to sell this ride for over a month now and getting barely any bites. I reckon it's 'cause of CARFAX's bogus report, so I had to lower the price by $3k. That's a whole lotta cash to lose, man. Edmonds and Kelly Blue Books say my car is worth way more than what I'm selling it for, based on the features and condition.

I've tried to get in touch with CARFAX, but they ain't responding to my emails, calls, or chats. I even sent 'em a bunch of evidence like a letter from the repair shop, a full report of the work done (which don't show no frame or unibody damage), pics of my car, and a police report. But they still ain't budging.

If this happens to you, don't just sit there and take it. Take 'em to small claims court and you'll come out on top if you got the right paperwork. It's a pretty easy process and don't cost much either. CARFAX needs to get their act together and stop spreading false info.

Carfax Tried to purchase one carfax report yesterday, had not signed in, but the first screen was the form where you enter the vin, then it sends you

Tried to purchase one carfax report yesterday, had not signed in, but the first screen was the form where you enter the vin, then it sends you directly to the payment screen. Processess payment, asks you to sign in (so I registered and signed in). No way to run report, no reports listed under account info. No way to contact customer service by phone, so I try via their online email form, to which I recieved an auto reply with a case number but no help. So again today I try to run a second, after verifying that I'm logged in. Again, takes my payment but does not allow me to proceed with running the report, and my account reflects no reports (which I should now have two of). Again I contact customer service via email, again just the auto reply with no help. So now I'm out a hundred bucks. People who are in the market for used cards don't have cash lying around for such nonsense. Complaintsboard.com why the A+ rating for a company that is so predatory and unresponsive and charges customers for a service they don't actually provide?

I was trying to buy a new car and trade in my old one. CarFax had incorrect info on my report which stopped the deal from happening. I filed a dispute on Monday with CarFax and they said I would hear from them in 24 hours but as of Friday they have not corrected the issue and have not responded to any of my attempts to contact them.

My one star review is because I believe CarFax fraudulently sold us a " package deal" without letting me know that they would expire. We were purchasing a used vehicle from a dealer and wanted to do our due diligence so we decided to purchase the a Car Fax report as the " last" thing to do on our list just to be sure we had all the pertinent info. At check out we were offered a " deal" we could purchase a bundle of three reports at a reduced price. While we only needed the one report I thought we could use the other reports down the road. While I do recall reading information that said the purchased report would only be available and accessible for30 days after purchase there was no mention of an expiration for the unused reports. Well fast forward we go to purchase a used car for my husband and I cannot find the unused reports in my file. I contact CARFAX . They take 8 days to get back to us , thereby taking our " already paid for carfax reports" out of the loop. They went on to say that the reports EXPIRED? after a year. This was never made clear at point and time of purchase. They said they would give us " 30 days" which they then changed to 60 days however we JUST purchased a used car AND was unable to use the already paid for reports because they took 8 days to get back to us. I have tried in vain to "SPEAK" with some what but that is impossible when dealing with CARFAX... There customer service is terrible and my next report is to Laticia James the attorney General with the state of NY as I think this is fraudulent business practices. If your offer has contingency's that are not obvious why are you not asked to "READ and CHECK" to be certain the purchaser fully understands what they are buying especially if there are expiration dates.

Carfax is absolute junk in my opinion! I'm looking into possible fraud pertaining to an accident I was involved in and Carfax doesn't tell me who filed the report. If that info isn't specified, how does Carfax know that they aren't assisting someone with committing fraud. I paid for a report for 1 specific reason and am left without an answer. To me that's disgusting!

Carfax I went to Carfax.com to get a vehicle history report on a car I bought

I went to Carfax.com to get a vehicle history report on a car I bought. I entered the car's VIN and clicked "Get CARFAX Report," this page is can be viewed here: https://www.carfax.com/vehicle-history-reports/. You are then sent to a new webpage where an order for 6 reports for $99.99 is automatically selected. Since "Get CARFAX Report" is singular, automatically selecting the most expensive option is deceptive, since 1 report is only $39.99. Furthermore, there is no confirmation on how much the consumer is paying before clicking "BUY NOW." So if you don't notice they've changed it to the most expensive option, you only notice this once you get the email confirmation. You can try it for yourself here: https://secure.carfax.com/creditCard.cfx? make=&model=&year=&vin=&numberOfRecords=. It's been two days and they have yet to get back to me. It appears they respond to their Complaintsboard.com complaints and do issue refunds so I am waiting on that. I trust CARFAX will fix my issue, but what a hassle... I'm using https://www.autocheck.com/ next time.

Carfax is not worth the paper it is printed on. Currently Carfax is 8 months behind in posting updates to vehicle maintenance records. 8 MONTHS! I purchased a vehicle this week. I had the dealer pull a carfax report. All came back clean. After purchasing the vehicle we were cleaning out the car and found an invoice from the previous owner indicating that the motor, the clutch, and the turbo had been replaced 5 months prior to our purchase. ?! Say what? Nobody shared this info with us prior to making our purchase, not the dealer, not carfax, ... nobody. Now we have a car that who knows how much work has been done on. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME LOOKING AT A CARFAX REPORT. JUST NOT WORTH IT!

The fact that a consumer cannot speak to a live person for help with an incorrect Carfax report should be illegal. I've gone through the required online dispute resolution, waited for almost 4 weeks for a response, just to get incorrect and incomplete information again. If they are going to claim that a vehicle is damaged, shouldn't the owner of the vehicle get a report of said damage? My car is NOT damaged. It WAS NOT in ANY accident. There is an inaccurate claim on my in perfect condition vehicle, and I can't get help to understand what the source is or what the "damage" is. There has to be legal recourse on this as it will keep me from being able to sell my car when I am ready. Any suggestions on legal help is appreciated.

The only reason this gets a 1 star rating is because I can't leave a ZERO. The entire resolution process is a joke! Whoever came up with that process should be fired. You can't get a person live (Just as bad as Uber). You can't even get a person's email. You get a general response with a case number. Ten days went by before a response. From that point it's not gotten any better. Carfax (not their fault) listed my airbags as going off on a side swipe. That did not happen. Honest mistake by the officer on the scene. Carfax said I needed to get the report changed. Locating the officer on the scene was not easy and the accident was 2 years ago. I provided two official documents from my insurance company (which BTW lists the cost of a $2.00 rubber molding that had to be replaced). My point (to Carfax: The insurance companies list EVERY speck of work being done). Nothing listed about airbag replacement/repair. Carfax said NO. We went back and forth. With each email came an new case number and several days to get a response. Finally they said they will not change it but said they would add a notation stating that additional documentation states airbags did not go off. WHAT? Unacceptable! It needs to be CORRECT and this report is not correct. More delays and more new case numbers. Finally I had to call the Captain of the police department. He was most helpful. After including several pictures and documentation the Sheriff's office made the adjustment. They sent me the new document, which I forwarded to Carfax. This time...NO RESPONSE. Shocker. I followed up, only to get a response saying: We were not able to verify it with the Broward County Sheriff's Office. Are you kidding me? This issue is still not resolved. What is going on over there? With staffing issues at an all time low, one might think that a little common sense might help. Big failure here, Carfax. By all means, I would LOVE to hear from a supervisor/manager. Case [protected]

Carfax I purchased a single report on 6/1 for a truck I was looking to purchase

I purchased a single report on 6/1 for a truck I was looking to purchase. I received a receipt for the purchase but couldn't access the report. I figured it was a phone issue and tried the computer. It was the same, when I clicked the link it kept taking me back to the login page; I was already logged in to begin with. I waited and tried several more times before contacting them. Case number [protected] was created and the automated response " Help is on the way!" arrived. At the end of the day, I responded to the email requesting a refund and received no response. Three days later, 6/4, I replied again and received the typical Covid related excuse. On 6/9, I asked for an update and received nothing, it's now 6/16 with no progress. If you're going to have a business that only communicates through email, at least touch base once in awhile. I don't know Carfax has an office or not but working from home shouldn't have been a big transition for a company that does business by email only. Frankly, businesses like these used Covid as an excuse for poor customer service.

I've sent emails to this company in hope of getting some type of response and still nothing! It's very fishy that a company of this size doesn't have a phone number for customers to call. Just email? No response is their game. So why does everyone still reply so heavily on this company when making such a huge decision like buying a car. Here's copy of one email sent. "I have attached the original documents below this message, along with the title. I have taken the car back to the dealership I purchased it from, and they also inspected the car and agreed that this car has indeed been in a major car accident. So much so, that the entire front end had to be welded back together, and it clearly has junk yard parts on it with the numbers from the junk yard on it still! So again, they admitted and verified that this car, I purchased from their car lot, had been in a major accident; and it was not reported to me that it has been in any accident at all. What can be done at this point? Can someone help assist in this matter asap. This same car is already having issues all due to this major accident that was not reported to me via CarFAx. I would not have purchased this vehicle if I was presented with the correct information. I will also be contacting an attorney for help." The dealership is not helping either.

No phone contact possible. Every time I sent in the form, I got a generic email asking me to fill out the form. AGAIN. Filled out the form 5 times. Had to chase down the origination of the mistaken accident report and go through this for almost 3 weeks before Carfax finally corrected the report. I'd give 1/2 a star if I could. How about an actual representative to talk to, or maybe I fill out the form ONCE, not five times? Too bad this company is in control of vehicle resale values. At least I got mine cleared up, but what a horrible, long, and frustrating process.

Had a cosmetic repair done to my car, now a report showing "accident" appears on Carfax. This Carfax report devalued my car by several thousand dollars as a trade-in. The body shop never reported it to Carfax. They said the estimating software CCC One automatically sends personal info to Carfax whenever an estimate is generated. CCC has said publicly it doesn't do this, but it's through their estimating software that data is transmitted to Carfax. I paid for my minor repair once already. The Carfax report makes it look like my car is damaged goods when it looks good as new. I'm paying for it twice now. Carfax is receiving information it has no business having; it certainly didn't get permission from the car owner (me) or from the body shop. How is this even legal?! Based on all the complaints here, Carfax just isn't a reputable company or reliable source of information about vehicles.

Carfax About a week ago, I tried to order a single Carfax report online

About a week ago, I tried to order a single Carfax report online. I selected the single report product for $39.99 and checked out. A few minutes later, I got e-mail saying I'd purchased the 6 report bundle for $99.99. Oh no... a mistake. At that point, I didn't think it was a big deal.. errors happen all the time and fixing just takes a few minutes to send an e-mail. Filled out Carfax's form for support online and waited - case [protected]. A few days later, I hadn't heard anything back so I googled Carfax and wrong number of reports.. and then wound up here. Seems Carfax has a very long history of doing this. Lots of people ordering a single report and get charged for six. A week later no response. Again, more googling.. seems Carfax has a very long history of not responding to people when they open support cases. I'd wasted enough time. I disputed the charge through my bank. Terrible customer service. And probably committing fraud by charging customers for 6 reports when they pick 1. Read the reviews.. enough people on here complaining about the same issue where it seems systematic and intentional.

If i can give a 0 stars i would. Scammers, money hungry and unethical company. They don't care if you are a customer with them for 5, 10 or even 15 years, they don't give you a break. One late fee and they slap you with a $100 fee. Even during this pandemic and hardship they abuse you more. Vampires, not worth the money at all, and i'm not giving them my money anymore.

I purchased a used car, had CARFAX run a report, they missed a $6,000 accident claim on the vehicle, so make sure you have your insurance company run the report before you purchase it, and not CARFAX, as your insurance company is vested in getting complete and accurate data, CARFAX is not.

When I went to trade in my leased car and enter a new lease, the dealer pulled a Carfax report that showed moderate damage to the front, passenger side, and rear of the vehicle. I was shocked as they showed me the report. The only damage to the vehicle was a small scratch (about an inch) on the passenger side door. It had never had any repairs (only regularly scheduled maintenance through *** as it never had any damage beyond the small scratch. I was surprised by the report, and the dealer offered me quite a bit less than KBB based on the Carfax, so I walked away and opened a case with Carfax to have the information reviewed. That was after asking if their service department had any way to test the paint to verify it was all factory original, which they said they could do but that it was best for me to contact Carfax while saying it could take months to be resolved through Carfax. The dealer called the next day and upped the price for the vehicle after seeing I'd filed a case for review with Carfax saying they were satisfied it would be resolved. Yesterday, I received an email from Carfax saying they "confirmed with the source" the damage report was correct, but, of course, they won't release who reported the data (which is completely illogical since anyone who actually has a repair done or even taken a car in for any type of service around the time of a report would know who reported damage). It's no longer my problem since the car was traded in, but the damage shown is completely inaccurate, and the car was in the garage while I was out of the country on holiday for a week at the time they say it was reported (with no one else having possible access to the vehicle). Would I have gotten more for the trade-in if the damage wasn't on the report? It's hard to say, but everything surrounding the incorrect Carfax report changed what would have been a very positive experience into one that was and still is somewhat distressing. I can only hope and imagine Carfax made a serious attempt at verifying the information. Regardless, their practices are clearly insufficient at determining when a false report is made of damage that never occurred, and it's unfair to the consumer to hide behind the policy of not identifying data sources as that would enable the consumer to assist in having completely inaccurate information removed that otherwise can have a significant impact on the financial outcome when trading in or selling a vehicle.

Site offering FREE VIN lookups. If I could attach a screenshot, I would. As with another site offering free lookups, I feel this is fraudulent and deceiving for consumers. You're not worthy of our info if you have horrible ethics amd morals. Bad business.

Carfax Carfax has got to be the worst business I have ever dealt with

Carfax has got to be the worst business I have ever dealt with. First, I had issues with billing. Like everyone else, I purchased one report, they charged me the 5 for $99. After a week or so, they finally responded to my submitted case and told me they would refund the difference. Perfect, thanks! Now 10 minutes after submitting my first request for a refund, I submitted another request after noticing an error on my Carfax report. Looked for all wreck paperwork that backs up my claim that there was zero structural damage, based on other reviews, looks like Carfax loves to list structural damage for every so called accident. I have contacted them 3 times via phone, followed up by email to my ticket number 3 times, not one reply. Not one, crickets. So here I am, trying to trade in my vehicle for a much needed truck and I cant, because I have an error on my report (that I can prove via paperwork from the auto shop) and I know they will give me nothing for trade in. On my last email, I even mentioned, I will contact the Complaintsboard.com if I don't hear back. They didn't seem to care. Been 17 days since I submitted the case. Online, says they should have every case responded to within 24-48 hours.

Bought a Porsche 911 with a clean CarFax history and then went to trade the vehicle months later and dealership informed me CarFax reported an incident 6 months prior to my original purchase date. Thought there might have been an error with the report so I reached out to CarFax and the response i received was, "When we contract with new sources, they often have prior records on vehicles that are added to the CARFAX Reports as soon as they are provided. I understand your concerns regarding the timing but despite our best efforts, sources can sometimes take up to several years before agreeing to supply their data while others may never report information to CARFAX." Carfax would not provide any further information. Seems to me Carfax is working with dealerships to report false information in order to decrease car trade in value and resale value! Or CarFax's reporting database needs some serious updating. You can't trust the CarFax report! Learn from my experience and don't trust your CarFax report because, in a few months or years after you bought your car, they can throw whatever they want on your report and not share any details of the reporting. Untrustworthy business tactics. Who do I sue for my depreciation on my car now?

Carfax I've sent emails to this company in hope of getting some type of response and still nothing!

Carfax SCAM AND LIARS!

SCAM AND LIARS! All the reps will take advantage of small dealers during a pandemic when struggling due to the economy, after cancelling my account within the terms and confirming. The account went into delinquency, at that point we asked why are we being billed when we were cancelled? Then they decided to tell us (Christina Blackwell) not to worry they will take care of it, must be a mistake and if it was an issue they would let us know. SO then we never heard back, all the sudden we receive collections? Not for one month not for two months or three but for $10,000 yep, you read that right. So a car lot - aka small local business can afford 10k during a pandemic? We sell 4-10 cars max a month every so often! The whole point of cancelling is due to affordability, YOUR COMPANY told us we are cancelled ( Ana Hernandez) and being told by the reps we are all set and cancelled... for you to do this to a small business is disturbing and quite frankly SICK. You have no regard for struggling business owners trying to make it during a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. I will not be quiet i will tell ALL dealerships we work hand and hand to cancel once they are able. Thanks "Regional Account Manager" West Dallas Region Christina blackwell for not giving a rip, and thanks to Ana Hernandez "Dealer Account Manager" For being a total LIAR and Not cancelling our account at all . I hope this Review finds you both well.

Carfax On 6/15 I purchased a one owner, off lease vehicle

On 6/15 I purchased a one owner, off lease vehicle. Clean CarFax from the dealer. Being an ASE Certified auto technician and "car guy" I looked the car over thoroughly. No issues. I recently went to trade in the vehicle 3 and was informed on 12/3, 6 months after registering the vehicle, damage was reported. Date of incident, 6/12. 30 months prior to my purchasing. Reports states first available for viewing on CarFax 12/3 so I had no way to know. Dealer had no way to know. I contact CarFax and requested details of this "Damage". Keep in mind the car is a Soul Red Metallic. To properly repair it you need a 3 stage paint. (Similar to a candy color). The claim it was reported from a reputable source that wishes to remain nameless. They told me to take their word for it, there had been damaged. I had the Mazda dealer body shop look at it. They can't find any damage or evidence of repainting. Had my insurer run a VIN check. They said that damaged had been reported against the VIN but then it had been canceled, often meaning the wrong VIN had been reported. They said as far as they were concerned the vehicle didn't have any damage. CarFax says go away we don't have to substantiate anything to you. For being the industry standard for vehicle reporting that's a pretty low standard. I'm contacting Federal legislators. If you cant provide documentation and photos it didn't happen in my book. Now I'm stuck with a car that can never be traded at a dealer because of bad CarFax info.

Carfax My one star review is because I believe CarFax fraudulently sold us a " package deal" without letting me know that they would expire

I bought a used 2003 Corvette from a Chevroet dealer in Nov 2007. With it I received a clean Carfax report showing no accidents/damage. 16 years later, Dec 2023, I was attempting to trade my 2003 on a newer model. The dealer ran the Carfax and it showed an insurance entry of an accident and total loss in May of 2002. This was 18 months PRIOR to my purchase...

Carfax CARFAX Report Helped Me Make an Informed Decision When Buying a Used Car

I was pretty upset, but then I remembered that I had checked the CARFAX report before coming to the dealership. The report showed that the car had been in an accident and had multiple owners, which made me skeptical about the condition of the car.

I decided to ask the salesperson about the discrepancies between the CARFAX report and the pictures on their website. The salesperson told me that they had just received the car and hadn't had a chance to clean it up yet. They also said that the pictures on their website were taken before the car was involved in the accident.

I appreciated the honesty of the salesperson, but I was still hesitant about buying the car. I asked if I could take it for a test drive and have it inspected by a mechanic. The salesperson agreed, and I was able to get a better idea of the car's condition.

In the end, I decided not to buy the car because of the accident and multiple owners. However, I was grateful for the information provided by CARFAX, which helped me make an informed decision. I would definitely use CARFAX again in the future when looking for a used car.

Overall, my experience with CARFAX was positive. The website was easy to use, and the report provided valuable information about the car's history. The only downside was the discrepancy between the pictures on the website and the actual condition of the car, but that was not CARFAX's fault. I would recommend CARFAX to anyone looking to buy a used car.

Carfax Beware of Carfax Reports: Inaccuracies Could Cost You Big Time

Carfax ain't all it's cracked up to be, let me tell ya. I was checkin' out my Carfax report for my ride and I noticed they had the wrong date on there. I mean, come on now, that's a pretty basic thing to get right. So I tried to dispute it with some documentation, but they still wouldn't fix it. What gives, Carfax?

I'm tellin' ya, folks, you gotta be careful with these Carfax reports. If they're gettin' somethin' as simple as a date wrong, who knows what else they might be messin' up. And let me tell ya, if you don't catch those mistakes and dispute 'em, it could end up costin' you big time down the road. Thousands of dollars, maybe even more.

So my advice to y'all is to check your Carfax reports carefully and don't be afraid to dispute any inaccuracies you find. It might be a pain in the butt, but it's better than gettin' screwed over later on. And if Carfax won't listen to ya, well, there's always other options out there. Don't let 'em get away with shoddy work, folks.

Carfax Carfax Deleted My Records - App Now Useless

I used to use Carfax all the time to keep track of all the work I did on my car. It was super helpful to have all my records in one place. But then, out of nowhere, they went and deleted all the records from anyone who didn't go to one of their "approved" shops. What a load of baloney! Now the app is totally useless. I can't trust it at all. They took something that was good and turned it into a piece of garbage. It's a real shame. I wouldn't recommend Carfax to anyone anymore.

Carfax Disappointing Experience with Carfax: Paid for Reports but Couldn't Access Them

I gotta say, I'm not too impressed with Carfax. I paid for three reports and was excited to get started. But when I tried to run a report using my VIN number, I kept getting taken to a page asking me which option I wanted to buy. Like, come on, I already paid! This happened over and over again, and I was getting pretty frustrated.

I tried reaching out to their customer service, but I haven't heard anything back yet. I've sent numerous email messages, but no reply. It's like they don't even care about their customers.

Overall, I'm pretty disappointed with my experience with Carfax. I was hoping for a smooth and easy process, but it's been anything but. Thank you very little, Carfax.

Carfax Carfax Reveals My Car Was Totaled, But Insurance Won't Provide Report - Frustrating Experience

Carfax is a website that tells you about the history of your car. I used it to check on my car and found out that it was totaled. They said that I needed a letter from the insurance company that reported it to get that changed. But my insurance company didn't give me the report and they won't tell me anything about it. So now I can't get the letter that Carfax wants me to have. It's really frustrating because I need to know the true history of my car.

Carfax Carfax Undervalued My Truck - Don't Trust Their Quotes!

So, I was curious about how much I could get for my truck if I decided to trade it in. I went to Carfax to check it out. My truck is in really good condition, so I was expecting a good quote. But, Carfax said it was only worth a "good" rating and quoted me just over $11,000. That's not correct! I checked Kelly Blue Book and they quoted me $1,500 more than Carfax did. Thank goodness I didn't sell to Carfax! What a scam!

Carfax Disappointing Experience with Carfax: Buyer Beware

I gotta say, I was pretty disappointed with my experience with Carfax. I mean, you'd think that a dealer with a name like that would be top-notch, right? But nope, not in my case. I bought a car from them and they swore up and down that it had been inspected and was in great shape. But when I took it to my own mechanic, they found a leaky strut that's gonna set me back almost two grand. Not cool, man.

I gotta say, I'm feeling pretty burned by this whole thing. I mean, I trusted these guys and they let me down big time. And now I'm out a ton of money that I really can't afford to lose. It's just not right.

So yeah, I wouldn't recommend this dealership to anyone. And honestly, I'm starting to wonder if Carfax is really all it's cracked up to be. I mean, if they're willing to work with dealerships like this, who knows what else they're willing to overlook? It's definitely something to think about.

All in all, I'd say that if you're thinking about buying a car from Carfax, you should definitely do your homework and make sure you're getting a good deal. Don't just take their word for it, because as I've learned the hard way, that can be a pretty costly mistake.

Carfax Carfax's Lack of Response to Report Mistakes is Frustrating and Costly

Carfax is a website that has a lot of dealerships and regular people using it to get accurate reports about cars. However, they don't seem to be able to talk to people about mistakes in their reports. If you send them an email, they might not get back to you for a while. This mistake could end up costing me thousands of dollars, which is a lot of money.

Carfax Caution: Don't Rely on Carfax Alone for Your Car Purchase

Carfax is a company that can be used as a tool by some auto dealers to cheat the consumer. The company has some weaknesses, such as information time lag and inability to navigate auto auction information, which can be used to misrepresent the status of the vehicles it reports on. If you take a minute to Google the organization, you will see for yourself. It is not recommended to purchase an automobile based on the information supplied to you by one of these reports. There are other companies that can provide you with much more accurate information.

Carfax Carfax's Mistake Cost Me $5000: A Cautionary Tale for Car Buyers

I recently purchased a truck from a dealer and it was 3 years old. I knew the truck well as I had been driving it for 7 years. I had only made one insurance claim in 2011, which was the only claim ever made on the truck. However, when I went to trade it in on a new truck on Dec 23, I was shocked to find out that the dealer was only willing to give me $3000 instead of $8000. The reason for this was because of Carfax. They had down that my truck was a total loss in 2008, which was not true.

I have been trying to get my $5000 loss from Carfax, but they have been uncooperative. They say that it is not their policy to reimburse money lost from their mistake. This is unacceptable. I hope that this review will cost them millions and I will repost this on every review site I can find.

Carfax needs to take responsibility for their mistakes and make things right for their customers. It is not fair that I have to suffer a loss because of their error. I urge everyone to be cautious when using Carfax and to double-check the information they provide. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Carfax Wrong CarFax Report

Case# [protected] Wrong report mentioning AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. They have reported Air Bags deployed on my car wherein I never had air bags deployed. I filed a complaint before and they fixed it and now its back again. This is the second time my deal got cancelled to trade in this car because of carfax system issues. I need answers and who is responsible for the monetary damage i have gone through TWICE. This is unethical and unprofessional way to do business, they have no right to update wrong records for anyone’s property. No dealer in the town would give me market price because of what carfax has wrongly updated.

Desired outcome: Need business to explain this unethical business practice and also if they will handle this monetary damage I had to suffer TWICE because of them.

Carfax CarFax has incorrect information on my vehicle from an accident that took place on 5/25

CarFax has incorrect information on my vehicle from an accident that took place on 5/25. They misrepresent my vehicle as a total loss and consider my title as a salvage title. Neither of this information is true and my vehicle was repaired from that accident and my title is still clean. I submitted my original request to get this issue fixed and get my CarFax vehicle report corrected - Case # ***: Title Incorrectly Labeled as Salvage on 5/20 but I currently have not received a response even though from the generated email auto response it stated the following working hours: 'We'll respond to your request soon! Our standard business hours are 9 AM to 6 PM Monday through Friday, Eastern Time.*'. I submitted a second request on 6/10 for Case # ***: Need 5/25 accident to represent repairs and NOT a total loss and they have not responded to me as of 6/22. I have provided them all copies of paperwork of the claim from my auto insurance at the time, the final invoice from the auto body shop where the vehicle was repaired, and the CarFax report showing where the incorrect information is located. My vehicle's trade-in value is currently lower than it should be due to CarFax providing by misinformation on my vehicle.

Carfax had the wrong information about the car I was trying to sell in the ***. I came to find out when one of the people that were interested in the car called me. I contacted them and provided proof and relevant information about the car. They did not change the information and they are not answering my emails either. This is costing me at least 2000 dollars because they have the wrong information and are not willing to change it.

Carfax CARFAX Inc, complaint

CARFAX Inc, complaint. My expensive / exotic sports car suffered a low speed rear impact in July . The other drivers insurance paid for all the rear-end repairs to my car. I am now trying to sell my car on a public vehicle auction site which includes a free Carfax report for the whole world to see, only to find that Carfax are incorrectly publishing data that my vehicle has front end damage as well as rear end damage. I opened a case with Carfax on Nov 23 2020 and uploaded a copy of the official insurance collision repairs report showing only rear end damage. Since then I have received no updates from Carfax. Carfax refuse to provide a phone number for victims of erroneous Carfax reports to try to resolve. Carfax are directly responsible for lowering the value of vehicles by informing the general public via their erroneous reports that damage or more damage has occurred than actually has. I have already paid $100 fee to the auction web site but cannot proceed with the sale listing until Carfax remove the incorrect damage information from my vehicle report. Due to Carfax delays since the accident last year, my vehicle is now a model year older, and showing exaggerated double damage to front and rear, leading to "Diminished Value" of my vehicle.

That in late July, I received a call from *** insurance stating my 2020 black *** SUV, CO. plate # *** was involved in a hit and run accident in the City of Lakewood, CO. in late May. I provided pictures of my vehicle to *** Insurance who determined there was not any evidence that would warrant a claim being filed against my insurance company. While researching trading in said vehicle this month I was notified by a dealer that Carfax lists my vehicle as being involved in stated hit and run accident. Carfax would not remove the information unless they received a supplemental report from Lakewood P.D. sating that there was no evidence to support my listed vehicle being involved in an accident. I have filed multiple requests *** and *** asking Carfax to review my case and attached report from detective which states that there is no proof of an accident.

I am trying to trade in my current vehicle for a new one. When the car dealership ran a Carfax report, the report came back as my vehicle had been in an accident. I am the original owner of the vehicle and it has never been in an accident. I have tried to contact Carfax, with no response. I am trying to find out where this report was generated from and who generated it.

I paid $40 for a carfax report that they claimed had 37 items on it. When I received the report, 90% of the items were registration renewals or title transfers. I was looking for information about previous maintenance done on the car. There also had been no information stating that the report would expire after 6 months. They lied to me and they are lying to other customers making us pay $40 which is way too much for a piece of paper. They mislead everyone.

I have opened up 2 cases with Carfax to correct a mileage error with my 2010 ***. 2 documents have been submitted showing the obvious error from *** showing increased mileage on one receipt and the correct mileage on the other receipt for the same day. A dealer will not trade in my vehicle until the mileage is corrected from that date. We have heard nothing from the company in 2 weeks and the automated case opening reply states 3-5 days for resolution.

When attempting to purchase my car out of my lease, I was informed that CarFax was reporting that my car had significant structural damage (from an unknown source) on two separate dates. I was also told that I could not proceed until the CarFax report was cleaned up. This should have been a quick/simple fix as the car is in perfect condition and clearly this was in error. After numerous attempts over two months by myself and the dealership, to get this removed, I am still unable to buy this car. The dealership that I leased the car through has gone to great lengths to help, but to no avail. They had my car inspected and filled out the paperwork showing there was no problem with my car, and yet CarFax is refusing to remove. I cannot get this bogus report removed and I am furious with the inadequacies of this process. I cannot speak to anyone on the phone at Carfax and the company is refusing to remove the error (only communicated through one email at the beginning of the process). This is criminal! I have never been in an accident EVER and yet CarFax is "standing by their findings"! This is a beautiful car with low mileage, no accidents whatsoever and yet I can't buy it because of Carfax! How is this possible that this company can control the market and innocent people like this?!

I recently brought my used *** to a local dealership in Carlsbad, California to sell the vehicle. The dealership used Carfax to search the vehicles history for any red flags. The report claimed that there was an odometer discrepancy as reported by a *** in Pittsburg, California. I have never been to Pittsburg, California nor has my ***. Additionally, there is one *** location in Pittsburg and they have no record of my vehicle being serviced at the location. I subsequently filed a discrepancy report with Carfax - reference number *** with no follow up.

I am trying to sell my pickup. I pulled the CARFAX for my vehicle and noticed that there is an error on the report indicating the air bags deployed during an accident. This is false. No dealership will purchase my pickup with a report of "airbags deployed" on it. I have received affidavits from the collision center where my pickup was repaired, and the insurance company who handled the claim that no airbags deployed on my pickup from that accident. I have submitted all information to CARFAX, and I have emailed them 4 times as of yet to make contact and get this issue resolved but they have yet to respond to me at all. I cannot sell my pickup until this issue is resolved, and I am suffering financial losses due to their unresponsiveness.

Carfax reported my car as a branded title for "Not actual Mileage / Exceeds Mechanical Limits", which means that the care odometer cannot read over 100,000 miles. This seems to be common with Carfax and ***. The odometer clearly shows the accurate miles as 112,648. Hence- it reads accurately after 100,000 miles. Carfax should not make this assumption unless they know it for sure. I submitted a dispute a week ago with Carfax, and have not heard back. I'm selling the car soon, and now potential buyers are weary, even though there is not an actual issue. Car- 2012 *** LX, VIN- ***. Car Miles- 112,648.

I purchased a vehicle (online, interstate commerce) based partially on Carfax stating:1) The vehicle was never in an accident 2) The vehicle was one-owner 3) The vehicle was low mileage 4) The vehicle was worth $17,300 When I took delivery, the vehicle is riddled with severe corrosion, not disclosed by Carfax and not disclosed by the selling dealer. The Carfax buy back guarantee seems disingenuous at best. What does soliciting a car care purchase agreement have to do with severe corrosion? What is the adjusted value for a one-owner, low mileage, severe corrosion vehicle?I have attached the Carfax misinformation advertised at time of purchase.I have contacted Carfax customer *** - they were not helpful.Once Carfax attaches an inflated vehicle valuation, no selling dealer is going to underprice the vehicle based on true condition. Not only did I overpay for the vehicle, but I incurred $1500 in transportation costs for a vehicle with undisclosed severe corrosion.

Carfax I had a vehicle that I placed for sale

I had a vehicle that I placed for sale. I negotiated a sale with a buyer. The buyer chose to finance the vehicle through his Credit Union. The Credit Union ran a CARFAX on my vehicle that showed a discrepancy. It was listed as a Not Actual Mileage (NAM) from when the second owner bought it in 2016. I did not run a CARFAX report when I purchased the vehicle because I did not feel I need to. I spoke with the second owner after this incident and he stated there was no irregularity on his part when he bought the vehicle. Here are my issues with the process. First, CARFAX has the responsibility to report accurate information. If there is an error, they have a responsibility to correct that information in a timely manner. I have been trying to contact CARFAX to rectify this problem for 3 days at the writing of this only to not have them get in touch with me. They do not have a phone number to call to get the problem solved. Second, If they are the service of choice lenders use to make decisions on, then there should be a mechanism when and unsuspecting seller should not have to pay to find out if there is a problem with the report before they go to list their car. Third, if you are a dealer looking to do business with them, you can get through on a phone line. If you are not, they have no avenue for you to talk to them.

I recently put my vehicle up for sale. I have had several people contact me and ask for my VIN number so they can run a Carfax report on it. After I give them the VIN they either don't respond again or they tell me they are unbale to purchase it due to damage. I finally broke down and purchased a CARFAX report and they have an accident reported on my vehicle. The accident did in deed happen, but it was not as sever as they have listed on the report and it is effecting my ability to sale it for what it is worth. I have contacted the collision center that conducted the repairs and they told me they did not report the accident to CARFAX, so I'm uncertain where they got the information in the first place. The collision center said they could have gotten it from the police report, but police officers don't have the qualifications to determine the severity of damage done to a vehicle. Therefore, I would like it changed from moderate to minor, as it did not cause machinal damage to the car.

Hello,I purchased a 2019 *** on December 29th with vin #***. I just happened to run the carfax recently to see what has all shown up for service records. I then noticed on the carfax report that there is a "damage report" which includes "damage reported: minor damage (minor damage is usually cosmetic, including dents or scratches to the vehicle body). This is on the carfax report from 5/27. However, I have owned this vehicle since December and my vehicle is immaculate and has no signs of any damage. I have also never taken it to any repair or body shops. So this is 100% incorrect. I have emailed consumerresearch@carfax.com and they have a case# ***. They have informed me that the "source" who they will not say who reported this. But again, this makes no sense as I have never taken this vehicle anywhere for a quote or repair other than normal maintenance. They since closed the case and will not respond. Please help.

Carfax Thank you for taking the time to view this message and I regret the circumstances that caused it to be sent

Thank you for taking the time to view this message and I regret the circumstances that caused it to be sent. I called Carfax as my final resort before working with law enforcement on a matter which I wanted to handle myself. I explained in brief my circumstances to the carfax agent regarding the paid subscription options and whether or not running a VIN/Plate Number would generate owner name and information. The agent said absolutely it would and carfax is unmatched and any other online platform would not provide those details which is why I was having a difficult time retrieving such information. After the call, I immediately placed an order to run multiple VIN/Plate Numbers. I quickly realize that I was misguided and misinformed after only running 1 VIN. The owner details were entirely private. I contacted Carfax requesting a refund for the subscription paid for as I only ran 1 VIN and was entirely misdirected. Days later I receive an email stating at this time my refund request is denied. I am appalled that in calling the corporate headquarters and speaking to someone only left me out of money and time. Carfax has taken no responsibility therefore moving forward I will be reaching out to the media to bring awareness on Carfax business practices. I will file dispute with my bank and complaint with Complaintsboard.com. My experience has been absolutely unacceptable.

Carfax I tried to trade in my 2014 *** and when the dealer pulled up the CarFax report there was an accident reported on Feb 7th 2019

I tried to trade in my 2014 *** and when the dealer pulled up the CarFax report there was an accident reported on Feb 7th 2019 in Massachusetts. I purchased the car on July 13th with a clean CarFax report with no accidents. I have owned the car since I purchased it and have never been to Massachusetts and the vehicle has never been in an accident at anytime at any location while I have owned it. I have documented proof from my insurance company of no accidents while I have owned it. I also have a *** Report that I had to pay for that shows a clean car with no accidents. I also bought a *** report showing a clean car with no accidents. I filed a dispute with CarFax on may 26th and provided all of these documents to prove my car hasn't been in accident and want this accident removed from my CarFax Report for my vehicle It is over a week later (June 3rd) and I have no response from CarFax on this matter. . I lost a vehicle on a trade because the value of my car is substantially lower because the car shows an accident. Dealers do not want my car on a trade because it has this accident. Not only am I out money for a *** and *** Report, I have lost a car and have no leverage to deal on another one at this point. I am very unhappy. If CarFax is a industry used tool for consumers and dealers it should accurately reflect a car's history.

Carfax I am purchasing a new automobile, and the dealer is going to pay off my lease and reimburse me $12,000

I am purchasing a new automobile, and the dealer is going to pay off my lease and reimburse me $12,000. The dealership ran reports with auto check and Carfax. Both reported that my car had been in an accident. My car has never been in an accident, never repaired at a body shop, never even had a minor collision. I purchased reports from auto check and Carfax. Auto check had telephone support, I contacted them directly. I explained the situation, was told that they would have do an investigation and inform me in 3 to 5 days. 2 days letter I received an email that that told me the report would be corrected within the next 3 hours. My experience with Carfax has been far different. They will only communicate via email. I filed a dispute with Carfax, uploaded the email from auto check, and explained that my car has never been involved in an accident. Carfax responded that they would send this info to a resolution manager. It has now been over a month and I have still not received a response. When I sent a follow up email they responded that all claims are dealt with in the order in which they are received. I've sent a number of inquires to try and get an idea of when I might expect a resolution and I'm now not even getting the courtesy of a reply. I understand reports can have incorrect information, but I think Carfax should resolve erroneous reports in a timely manner to mitigate the damage of false information. Needless to say, the value of my car is greatly depreciated due to the incorrect information contained in this report. At a minimum they should at least inform customers of when a resolution can be expected. Auto check corrected their mistake in 2 days, Carfax hasn't in over a month. This is totally unacceptable.

Carfax Carfax incorrectly lists a front-end damage report on my vehicle's Carfax report

Carfax incorrectly lists a front-end damage report on my vehicle's Carfax report. I purchased a super-low mileage used vehicle because it was in mint condition. The vehicle had a clean carfax report when I purchased it and had no accidents or damage listed. I took off a push bar that was mounted on the front end because I did not like the way it looked. After I took the push bar off, I noticed some very light rub marks (from the black rubber strips on the back side of the push bar). Since the truck was immaculate I was simply curious how much it might cost to have the marks removed by a local body shop. After getting an estimate I decided to take some wax/polishing compound and see if they came off myself. The rub marks came right off and the paint is perfect. My Carfax report shows front-end damage simply because I got an estimate before I tried removing the rub marks myself. There was no actual damage, and no work was done (besides simply waxing the paint myself). They incorrectly show "Front End Damage" and it is subsequently hurting the value of my vehicle. I reported my concern to Carfax and asked them to remove this incorrect damage report. They do not have a phone # listed and refuse to talk to you on the phone. I was communicating with a Lindsay (resolution manager) and explained the issue. After going back and forth and having to send over a copy of the estimate (which I never even had done) they will not take this false damage claim off my report. Apparently, it does not matter if there was any actual damage, or if you had anything actually repaired. They will not remove this from my report. This false information is now hurting the value of my vehicle, because it has a giant red flag warning people the vehicle had damage (even though it was very light rub marks from two black rubber strips that came off with some wax/polish).
