Canadian Automobile Association - Membership

On Sunday Jan 24/21 I renewed my CAA membership on line and was told I had a 24 hr. wait for full plus to kick in. That was fine. Monday morning I took the grandson to London with our other car and broke down. I couldn't stay with the car because I work for the MTO and had to get to work. My wife came up to London and stayed with our grandson until we could get it towed back to our mechanic. I called CAA for a tow from London On. to Glencoe On. where the garage is we deal with. After I went through everything CAA needed to know for a tow the lady from CAA says oh no you have to be with the car when it is picked up. I said well I can't be because I am at work so she said well tow it another day. I said no my wife is there with the car and our grandson we need to tow it now. The lady at CAA says oh your wife is with the car now and I said yes well she says add your wife to your card so I said ok what do I owe you for that, CAA comes back and says $100.00 so I said ok so they added Carol to my card. So now after paying to add Carol on my card I proceeded to tell CAA where the vehicle was and then CAA says oh no there is a 24 hr. waiting period for your wife and I thought what the hell well then, why would I add Carol if there is a 24 hr. waiting period for her. That membership already had its 24 hr. waiting period.
Besides it cost me $117.00 to renew my membership, that's a PLUS membership with 4 tows in a year up to 200 kms.
Now I have paid $100.00 to add Carol to mine when she could have her own membership for another $17.00 and a 24 hr. waiting period. I think this stuff should be explained to the customer before they take your money.
We were in need of the tow so even after adding Carol to my card the tow truck came, gave us ten free kms. on this tow and charged us another $189.00 for the tow to Glencoe. I feel I have been taken an advantage of.
My wife does not want to be a member on my card so I would like to take her off. I have a 2020 F150 pickup with road side assistance so I really don't need it but I want it for cases like this.
I am not very happy with CAA in the way they up sell.

Desired outcome: I would like my payment back for adding my wife to my membership and I think they should be retrained in upselling memberships.
