On Sunday October 13 between 3-330 I was shopping at the Urban Planet location at the Avalon Mall with my niece. We shop there regularly and never had any issues until today. I had checked out my items and preceded to exit the store when the alarm when off. I preceded back into the store to go back to the cash because I figured she forgot to take of one of the alarms which is a common mistake. Before getting to far I was approached by a staff member and she immediately in the bench of clothes in the isle of the store took everything out of my bag one by one to check the items. While I stood there other customers passed me and gave me a look as if I was a crook. I felt humiliated. Another staff member approached and took the item that had the alarm still Attached and brought it to cash to remove and brought it back to me. She said she was the manager. I said to her I was not happy and I was out on display in the isle to have my bag searched. I left the store but returned back because I wanted to get the managers name. I was not feeling good about what happened. When I returned I asked the manager her name. She said no I am not the other manager and indicated another staff member was the manager as she only acted as manager while the other girl was on break. I spoke to the other manager. Neither one of them told me their name first our last. They really did not understand my problem that I felt humiliated because how I was treated and basically dismissed me. Mistakes happen with staff forgetting to take alarms of clothing. I have seen this happen and the normal routine is to go back to the cash and it was removed. But the staff member pulled everything out of my bag and made a public display of what was going on. Both of your so called managers did not think nothing more of this and I felt they were just rude and not sympathetic to how I felt. Again ignored my request when I asked them their names. I don't know where I am going with this but I spoke to several people and they agree that my treatment is not acceptable. In any event I suggest staff any management staff have proper training. Thank yiu
You aren't alone. Many items have a security tag left on or are accidentally given more than one. While embarrassing, it's a daily occurrence for employees and treated as a minor mistake within the company.
