BodyLogicMD Charged for services not rendered

This company has charged us for blood tests that we have never gotten. We have been phoning them for 3 months explaining that we were charged for something we did not have. Each time they say they will take care of it, but never do. When we call back we always get a different person, usually from some phone center in Florida. They also keep trying to confirm appointments that we have not made….. Once they get your information, you can not get rid of them. Dealing with this company is horrible…. do not go to them.

This is a case of good old American Greed. The bodylogic doctors say they are burnt out and tired of the way medicine is practiced and they want to hormonally make you feel better and live longer. But they will not accept any insurance and want huge cash outlays for office visits and lab testing. They are actually just burnt out from dealing with insurance companies and waiting on checks. They could treat patients same way they are now, but accept their insurance for office visits and prescribe drugs that would be covered instead of unproven bovine adrenal supplements and laxatives and Armour Thyroid. Any good endocrinolgist does not even use Armour Thyroid since it contains T3 . They use levothyroxine T4 which can be regulated by blood testing. The Armour Thyroid gives the patients a rush from the T3 which gives them more energy, making them feel better temporarily. Then they put you on autofill for the supplements so you get monthly shipments you have to pay for . Then they want to have a party in your home to invite your friends so they can have more cash cows to add to their bank balances. This is snake oil medicine and american greed disguised as good intent and living longer.

I wanted to let everyone know -- it wasn't that after posting this notice we refunded -- rather that we refunded as soon as we knew there was an issue. It is our greatest point to be customer focused -- in health -- and in service.

It is entirely our mission to help patients improve health. Our focus on our Doctors and the incredible training they undergo.

I find it actually wonderful that with 15, 000 active patients and hundreds of thousands of visits -- we have so few complaints. But the few we have -- we care for.

Sincerely,

Patrick Savage, President BodyLogicMD

BodyLogicMD Treatment made symptoms worse

In july of 2010, i went to one of bodylogicmd's doctors to discuss a wellness program to help me maintain or improve my state of health. I had minor symptoms of perimenopause, and a "sluggish" thyroid that had been treated by a endocrinologist for twenty years. I was switched to a natural thyroid hormone from my synthetic synthroid and told that it would likely give me more energy and be much better for my body. Additionally, i was given prescriptions for natural progesterone and testosterone creams. In july, my thyroid function tested normally. By november, it tested off the charts hypothyroid (Low - over ten times the normal reading) . I was tired, my libido was zero, and my hair was breaking off. On my own volition, i discovered that the compounding pharmacy substituted a product for the natural armour thyroid hormone after the first month due to supply problems, which they said would probably persist due to the way it is distributed. Bodylogic's doctor had no idea that this happened and he did not intend to test me for three months (Allowing my thyroid function to plummet unnoticed, except by me!)

I switched to a different bodylogicmd doctor at this time and at my initial consultation, it was apparent that he was just reading my chart for the first time (He seemed surprised when he noticed the out of balance thyroid report - done for this consultation) . We discussed the pharmacy's problems and he put me back on synthroid and added a new pharmaceutical, cytomel. He started me on 25 mg. After starting this product, my chest started to feel tight and my heart was pounding all the time.

I decided to go to my regular doctor (Internist) and try to get this right. In late december, she evaluated more blood tests and told me the cytomel was way too high and reduced it to 10 mg. I now feel much better. My hair is still thin and i am hoping it will thicken up after a few months.

I still have little libido and will be discussing this with her at my next appointment. The only positive thing i came away with is this addition of cytomel, just in a reduced amount. I still use the progesterone and testosterone cream, but i don't notice any benefit - in fact i just missed a period for the first time.

I can't believe that either of these doctors treated my thyroid so casually, without a quicker review of the effectiveness of the therapy. This simple procedure would have revealed the imbalance created by the pharmacy.

So after all of this, i would caution anyone about going to a bodylogicmd doctor. It is extremely expensive - for my two consultations and blood tests i spent over $1, 000, of which none was covered by insurance (Though i knew that going in) . I thought it would be worth it to enhance my health. It was not. I played a dangerous game with physicians who really weren't looking out for my best interst. The second one didn't even call me back after i cancelled my follow up appointment. Apparently, they don't even want to know how their "customers" feel about the service rendered.

I don't now if there is a fountain of youth, but i didn't find it at bodylogicmd.

I was told that this would help me with my hormone inbalance. That I would get blood work regarding that. That didn't happen. I got a regular blood work up that I could have gotten from my doctor, then was charged $249 for that. And then charged $395 for a little bottle of meds where I only lost 8 pounds. I was told I could lose at least 20lbs.

I did BodyLogics in Houston for over a year, maybe closer to 2. It is very very expensive, but I did feel better. I had enough after paying for tests every 3 months and having to see the doctor and paying a high price for the visit to go over the tests. Not only was I doing the HRT I was buying their vitamins as well. I had so much to take with the doctor writing down the directions on how I had to take them in writing you could not read. I started to feel like all they wanted was the money...if you don't take this I won't prescribe HRT so I bought the other "vitamins". In order to renew the script for HRT you had to see the doctor. Then the doctor started doing over the phone consult for the same amount of money $300.00. I requested the notes so I could figure out what to take. They faxed them to me and a 2 year old could write better. For the amount of money I spent you would think it would at least be typed out.. The receptionist was rude. I stopped going and never even received a call from them to find out why. Stay away from this place you will be very disappointed.

BodyLogic Services appear to be a scam. Plus, physicians are overcharging (doubled fees with minimal notice to patients.) Lab tests are skewed to make it appear that patients need BodyLogic Services when they may actually not. BodyLogic is very much about outward appearance. Very disappointed in what I had hoped to be a last ditch effort...

I took the chance and made an appointment with BodylogicsMD in Houston Texas. I had to cancel it even though I had done my labs to be ready for the appointment with the doctor. Before the appointment (which was several days ago) I contacted Bodylogics to check how much I had to pay from the begining to the end (I did not want any surprises). I was told that the Doctor's fee would be $495.00 and the implants would be $35.00 for each pellet. Even though it sounded expensive I went ahead and confirmed my appointment, when I show up for my appointment I am given a stack of papers to sign, when I am signing these paperwork I stumbled upon one that describes the fees to be charged and noticed that there are additional fees not disclosed to me. The office charges $295.00 for the procedure of implantation of pellets plus the pellets are $35.00 each. The $295.00 was not disclosed to me. I asked the receptionist what this was about and she explained that the fee was related to the procedure separate from the pellets price. Everything has a price but they waited until I got to the office to tell me this. I drove more than one hour to get to this office and I was very upset about this. She also told me that the visit for that day would only include the discussion of the labs with the doctor. I was expecting to have my pellets inserted that day (I was told) instead this was going to be an appointment to talk to the doctor about my results. I could have done that with my own doctor for $20.00! I cancelled the appointment immediately and found another HRT doctor that is ethical and willing to ensure that his services provide the kind of care that I need. Please save your money and your health, these guys are out to get your money that is it! The reason the insurance companies don't back them up is because they don't meet the standards plain and simple. We have to be careful who we select as our caregiver. Please stay away from Bodylogics MD. Will never go back to this place ever again and will tell my friends and family members.

Dear Patrick,
Im reading the comments and unless you are accusing these people of lying what you say about your organization is not true. Maybe your doctors need classes on business administration-how to run an efficient caring office, or something. As president of the company, you want to improve it's image, but the tone of your letter, as well as th content does exactly the opposite. I too have had problems ever since my body logic doctor switched from using UCP pharmacy to using Well pharmacy. The communication between body logic and the pharmacies is bad, and the follow through perhaps at the office is not working. My thyroid was also way too high and my TSH gone. This was from another alternative that didn't know what he was doing before I saw my body logic M.D., but the body logic doctor knew what I was taking, saw my tests and re prescribed same dose for over two years on Armour. My results on Armour kept jumping around, the active hormone too high, theTSH non-existent. When I asked the doctor about it, he thought if I felt fine it was okay, but lowered the dose a bit but only after seeing my recent bone scan which for the first time since I began supplementing with the HRT hormones was terrible. I had been either gaining bone or staying the same for 15 years of testing, and this time I had lost bone of which hyperthyroid is a cause. He said if the TSH didn't come up, it was a pituitary problem and nothing we can do about that. So I accepted that, but finally months later I went to my PCP who is quite smart and he told me, the dose was too high, the testing was jumping around because Armour can't guarantee the amount from pig to pig(which is where it comes from, and that we need to see if it is a pituitary problem, by lowering the dose gradually and putting me on a synthetic(synthroid which is more standardized) because a "pituitary problem" could even be a tumor, which scared me but he told me surgeons have a way now to go in and minimally impact the brain. So my dose has been lowered by 15 mg, three times now and the active form of thyroid is almost in normal range. But not TSH. It is still crashed. Makes me wonder if this got so messed up by supplementation being high for so long that the pituitary thought no need to secrete TSH. So although I don't blame him for the original over prescribing, he had three years to lower it. Should have and didn't. He should have pointed me in the direction of an endocrinologist or someone about the pituitary. Lastly, I want a doctor totally focused on hormones and distracted by the bigger money in beautifying lasers and creams and injectables. Rather than being defensive, your company should immediately institute oversight by other physicians trained in your methods, and solely concerned with investigating all these complaints, putting out questionnaires to the patients, and responding to them and the doctors they are reporting on, and then, not punishing but working with these doctors to improve theirs skills and your training program. And warning them about the dangers of over prescribing and handling cases thyroid cases they may not be equipped to deal with. Thyroid is super important.

Hello,
To date I have been pleased with my treatment, however, it is a bit pricey. My complaint is this...my insurance company has quest labs as part of it's payment network. On the first round of testing for the initial apppointment I was given a lab slip and told to go to the lab. The lab recieved payment directly from my insurance provider. However, now that I need subsequent lab work from quest, I am being told I need to pay upfront for the lab slip! That is crazy. I just paid $150 for a phone conversation and now they want to charge me $120 for a lab slip that my insurance would pay for? This seems a bit shady and unethical. It feels as though the doctor is charging me for lab work she feels I need, even when it is covered by my insurer. If I do not pay the money she will not write the lab slip? Is that practicing good medicine? If she feels I need the test than in her professional opinion I need the test; If I don't pay her, she won't let me get the test? It feels like unethical medical practicing to me! ...why should I pay for a test my insurance will pay for? They paid for the first round, why have the rules changed? Very disappointed by this practice.

I'm surprised by the negative comments as my experience with Dr Thomas in VA has been extremely positive. I was down in the dumps when I first saw him and today after two years I feel much better. He listens to me and adjust the treatment accordingly. He is personable, professional and knowledgeable. His staff is also very responsive and professional. Regarding the cost -- feeling good is priceless!

With regard to SottoPelle. I too went to SottoPelle in Arizona. I was having fatigue and anger issues and was told that I needed to be put on thyroid meds. I was also told that if I went on HRT that it might straighten out my thyroid. I eventually got to SottoPelle. They checked my thyroid, but unfortunately did not do a hormone test. We kept tweeking the thyroid meds to keep the TSH in line and everything was going fine. Then I went to a different doctor in my attempt to get off thyroid. He did a saliva hormone test...the first one ever done and I had been on SottoPelle for 3 years. My testosterone was off the chart...along with my estrogen...which placed me a great risk for uterine fibroids. He said I needed to get off the SottoPelle HRT and was livid when I told him no one had ever done a hormone test. Of course, SottoPelle had also never done an antibody test which showed that my thyroid antibodies were 167...but the TSH was in line. I quit the SottoPelle HRT and all hell broke loose. The bleeding never stopped...for almost a year. Turns out the hormone test advising of uterine fibroid risks was right on the money. Now everyone was talking surgery. I started taking an herbal remedy to balance the estrogen (PivotalHealthinfo.com) along with serrapeptase and pancreatin to consume the fibrioid. I contacted Dr. Thomas at BodyLogic in Virgina. He did another saliva test and discovered the estrogen was in balance along with the testosterone and all I needed was progesterone. I'd been dealing with insomnia and night sweats for about 8 months since getting off the SottoPelle. My ratio of progesterone to estrogen was 10 and should have been 100. We have tweeked the progesterone in order to significantly reduce the insomnia and I'm feeling much better. Still have to take the thyroid meds, though. Dr. Thomas has been very helpful and his office staff is good, usually responding within 24 hours. He listens to me and works with me. The bleeding stopped about 5 weeks ago and I am looking forward to ultrasound results regarding the progress of the fibroid.

I am a certified pharmacy technician who would love to work for a "reputable compounding pharmacy." There are few such pharmacies in the area where I live. I have been out of work for over 3 years now and I am getting desperate. My certification is coming up for renewal at the end of the month and I wonder whether I should even spend the $40 to have it renewed. I also have a degree in chemistry in addition to my associate's degree in pharmacy technology, so I wonder why opportunities are so limited. This has nothing to do with BodyLogic per se except that it has to obtain the hormones it uses from somewhere, and I was just curious which compounding pharmacies provide the hormones that it buys.

When I enrolled in the pharmacy tech program at a community college students were told that the field was so promising. Yet a friend of mine who graduated from the program with honors (like me) had difficulty finding a job (like me) and ended up working in a bank until she was able to find a part-time position as a pharmacy technician. She even got her certification a few months before I did. It is so frustrating after spending all that time, money and energy to start a new career and then find out that it probably was all in vain, or in any case, it did not live up to the promises that were made. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't. After three years, my friend is still working as a pharmacy tech only part-time and the rest of the time she works as a cashier in a supermarket.

I keep applying to CVS and other drug store chains, and sometimes smaller independent pharmacies, and usually hear nothing back from them. I wonder where is the big demand for techs if I can't get hired.

So any hiring managers out there, if you represent a "reputable compounding pharmacy, " here I am, waiting to hear from you. But don't expect me to wait much longer.

I am a pharmacy technician and I am just curious which company or pharmacy compounds the hormones used by BodyLogic. It has been over 3 years since I have worked as a pharmacy technician, except for brief stints with temporary employment agencies. I would love to work for a compounding pharmacy, yet there are few of them in the area where I live. I'm no exactly a slouch when it comes to chemistry. I have a 4-year degree in chemistry in addition to my associate's degree in pharmacy technology. I'm wondering where all the jobs are. When I enrolled at the community college where I studied pharmacy tech, I heard such optimistic predictions about how it was such a growing field and that demand for techs was increasing. Yet it took me about 3 years to find my first job as a technician, and now I have been out of work for another 3 years. I submit applications to CVS and other drug store chains as well as smaller or independent pharmacies and usually never hear anything from these places, not even a rejection. I am getting so frustrated already. However, other people I know have also had problems finding employment in this occupation, so I console myself with the knowledge that I'm not the only one. A friend of mine who attended the same community college I went to graduated with honors (like me) and could not find work at any hospital. She got a job working at a bank and did that until she was hired as a pharmacy tech (part-time). Now she has two jobs: working part-time at a retail pharmacy and part-time as a cashier in a supermarket. It's kind of sickening that we spent all that time, money and energy going to school when there just don't seem to be many opportunities.

It is now time for my to renew my certification as a pharmacy tech, although I have misgivings about doing so. I have to pay a nominal fee to recertify every two years, but considering that I can't find work, it seems senseless to do it again. I'm almost destitute and paying $40 to the PTCB (that's the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) seems like an exercise in futility.

I know that these comments don't apply specifically to BodyLogic except in the sense that it must buy its hormones from some suppliers and I was wondering who those supplies might be. I see that BodyLogic has locations in my state and maybe someone would be able to give me some direction regarding compounding pharmacies.
