On July 9, 2025, I purchased a 2024 Ford Bronco Sport from Markell Sharp. Markell advised us that he was a summer intern home from college. While he was courteous, he had limited knowledge of the vehicle and was unable to answer many of our questions.
During the finance process, the Finance Manager, Tommy Reed, offered us an EasyCare Prepaid Scheduled Maintenance Contract for $1,208.00. At no point during the sales or finance process were we informed that the vehicle already included Ford's complimentary 3-year maintenance program. Had this information been disclosed, we would not have purchased the EasyCare maintenance contract.
After later discovering that the vehicle included Ford's complimentary maintenance program, we contacted Bob Tomes Ford. Tommy Reed acknowledged the situation and advised that he would refund the contract, less a deduction based on mileage.
However, we subsequently learned that every scheduled maintenance service (2) performed on our vehicle has been charged to Ford's complimentary 3-year maintenance program—not to the EasyCare contract we purchased. In other words, the EasyCare contract has never been utilized because Ford's included maintenance benefit has covered all eligible services.
Because the EasyCare contract has provided no benefit and has not been used, I do not believe a mileage-based deduction is appropriate. We paid $1,208.00 for a maintenance plan that has never been accessed while Ford's complimentary maintenance program has covered all scheduled maintenance.
Claimed loss: We paid $1,208.00 for a maintenance plan that has never been accessed while Ford's complimentary maintenance program has covered all scheduled maintenance.
Desired outcome: I respectfully request that Ford Motor Company review this matter and assist us in obtaining a full refund of the $1,208.00 paid for the EasyCare Prepaid Scheduled Maintenance Contract.
Confidential Information Hidden: This section contains confidential information visible to verified Bob Tomes Ford representatives only. If you are affiliated with Bob Tomes Ford, please claim your business to access these details.
That is a clear case of a misrepresented sale, and you have the documentation to back it up. Here is the practical path: request a detailed service history report from both Ford (for the complimentary maintenance) and the EasyCare provider to show that zero charges were applied to the EasyCare contract. Then send a certified letter to the dealership's General Manager with those reports and demand a full refund of $1,208, citing the fact that you were not informed of the complimentary program. Also, file a complaint with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles and Ford's regional office, as this is a disclosure violation. You paid for nothing, so you owe nothing for a mileage deduction.
