I paid 500.00 for an evaluation of eligibility for IRS tax reduction and/or Forgiveness. I was asked to pay 500.00 for an IRS Investigation, It was my perception that this fee was to determine my eligibility for tax reduction and/or tax forgiveness (This was my perception of what was told me).
When I received a phone call back with a statement that it would cost 6,439.42 to move forward with the help of tax reduction and/or tax forgiveness (This was my perception). I moved forward although I told the agent that I could not afford the fee. I was given the perception after the IRS investigation that I could receive a tax forgiveness or reduction at the very least.
I did not receive a tax forgiveness nor a tax reduction. Now I am left with tax debt over 10,000 and a bill from United Consumer Services on behalf of Better Tax Servies with a balance, as of 9/21/2026, of 5,342.46. In addition to paying interest on the total fee.
From my perception I did not receive the service I believed that I was paying for. I therefore want the money that I paid minus 500.00 received back and a debt paid in full by United Consumer Services for the remainder of the debt owed to them.
Note also even though I am on a payment plan, I am still receiving letters from the IRS with threats.
Desired outcome: Receipt of a refund of 1,096.96 and a debt paid in full of United Consumer Services of 5,342.46 as September 21,2026.
