Anytime Fitness review: This af location and its management

The AF location at Hillsborough Ave and Memorial Highway in Tampa, FL should be closed down by the health department. It has been a disgusting, filthy mess with broken machines, clocks, showers, for more than 2 years — but the last year it has devolved into a vortex of viral plague and the HQ for broken equipment (and equipment that has not been cleaned or lubricated!) to the point where people stand around in the space and share horror stories instead of working out. AF should shut it down for failing to provide the equipment and services it promises with every membership it sells. You are not delivering!

There is no staff. Ever. So much for the vaunted AF promise of having people available to help you and "be there" if there are issues. Nobody is there! A guy named "Barron" used to check in for an hour a few times a week, but he left months ago to have a baby and hadn't been seen since. He hired a high school student to come in and fill the spray bottles and empty the trash every few days and add paper to the dispensers. Period. This kid is nice but isn't going to make a dent in the filth and disrepair of a place he doesn't connect to. Why does AF keep a place like this open? It is destroying your brand in this market!

Members of my family (3 of us) paid good money to belong to the AF family. We bought into the AF promise. We could have joined gyms that cost less. And I guess we should have. But we liked what we heard. And believed it. Look at the photos, below. Barton won't even let his little guy put a new battery in the clock on the wall! The leg press barely functions because it hadn't been lubricated. Equipment that broke hasn't been fixed in more than a year. See for yourselves in the photos. It's truly revolting and disgusting. For people who trust AF and believe in the brand, FIX THIS. It's hard enough to work out. Knowing your destination is this nasty and repulsive place — Especially in the times of pandemic! — makes it so much harder.
