House plans
I purchased a plan that was so out of date from the most basic code that it had to be modified. They say that it may not meet code in your building area but it meets no code at all. Some areas do have more restrictive codes which is what their disclaimer covers but the plans I purchased met no up to date basic codes. Naturally they offered no refund.
Desired outcome: 50pct refund. Yes, I got the basic house plan layout but thats all. The rest cost me money to just to try to bring it up to the national basic code.

I made a transaction on Saturday, September 24 at 03:57pm. When I requested a refund for the plans I purchased through the website, the supervisor denied it. We bought the plans after using the website's cost to build report, which helped us find a home within our budget. The report estimated the cost of the home to be between XXX-XXX,000$. However, when we approached a builder, they estimated the cost to be much higher, between XXX-XXX,000$. We not only spent $30 on two separate occasions for the cost to build report, but we also spent $1290 on house plans that we can't use. It's disappointing that they simply said "it's against our policy" without mentioning it on their website. This is not a good way to do business. It's ridiculous to assume that we violated copyright laws by asking a builder to estimate the expenses for a home we planned to build. Their claim that "any builder can use it now" is false because when we purchased the plans, the website clearly stated that they were for one-time use only. This so-called "business" cheated us out of $1350.
I bought the "cost to build" myself and it was nothing more than an all in estimator I could have done myself. Thankfully did not buy the plan although I really liked the layout. I did make the argument that a "cost to build" should give a breakdown of products not just a vague description for example how many 2x4's to build the plan? It does not breakdown the cost per unit of anything which is why this is useless to anyone trying to figure out a "cost to build". For the love of God the name they give their product alone says what it should be. I was give the answer that what I wanted was a "material list" and that cost $295.00. I received a refund.
