Amazon Prime Video The Bitter Truth of Bugs & Billions

I think we can all agree it’s disappointing that Amazon takes & takes & takes from everyone all over the world, making billions off of us. Charging nearly $20 a month for this membership, which over 80 Million people in the USA alone currently subscribe to, customers can’t even expect the app to function bug free, nor does Prime provide a decent selection of movies and shows. The few good shows that are Prime produced— take years in between seasons ifthey don’t cancel them and 'forget' to tell you. Fans are not kept in the loop of their favorite shows... The app constantly shuts down and freezes despite updates— it doesn't matter where you’re trying to watch— smart tv, tablets, iphones— the result is always a premature evacuation on Prime’s part. You could be 5 minutes in or an hour in— Prime is going to leave you frustrated worse than that one time at church church camp. "I’m sorry, what was that? Are you finished? Let’s start-over & try this again..."… It takes forever for the content to load as well (& we all know the classic "it must be your wifi connection" excuse— which is not*** the issue no matter how many times they tell you). The customer service is horrible… How can customer service lack customer service, honestly?… I find myself searching for movies/shows longer than actually watching them. I ultimately end up falling asleep before ever watching anything; mainly because the app is simply unorganized. Does this mean I’m paying Prime $16.99 plus tax to bore me to sleep after a 12-hour shift where Im undervalued & underpaid?— I guess so… The "Included with Prime" selection is nothing but old, & B-rate movies. To add insult to injury, they mix in better quality content & new release movies, but you have to purchase them outside your membership fee— and they ain’t cheap either… The saddest part is— Amazon doesn’t care. They don’t care about our complaints or their customers because the truth is well known: Once companies get big enough— they don’t have to answer to anyone. Amazon knows that they are the monopoly and have consumers buy the leading strings... As I remind myself of that fact, it makes me realize just how pointless it is to continue with my review….

Amazon Prime Video Help

Maybe someone can help me understand my confusion with Amazon Prime Video. I use my Apple TV app for everything and I have Netflix for $8, Hulu for $5, HBO for $5, and some other paid subscriptions. Lately I’ve noticed on some of the shows or videos, Prime Video come up that they have but not with what I’m subscribe to. I don’t normally have Prime through Amazon for shipping as I don’t buy enough. I decided to try Prime Video. So I went to their page to sign up for the $8.99 but saw the $12.99 and I purchased 12.99 since they offered shipping too. I’ve had Prime Video for 3 days now and been watching and strolling mostly what’s on their home page. When I pick a show, at the bottom it alway show related content to what I’m watching or have picked. Today, when I picked some of those related content or shows at bottom, I couldn’t watch them and it gave me a message of “How do I watch this”. Ok? And when I click on the “How”, gave me another message of “Video purchase or rented from Amazon are available to watch here”. What? All the related content at the bottom had these messages. Now, let me tell you what content these were and it might confuse you too. “ Terminator 2”, “Stargate season 1”, “Star Trek 4 and 5”, “Stargate movie”, Star Trek first contact”, Island”, which I wanted to watch, “X-files series”, “Jack Ryan”, “Die Hard 4”, “Watchman”, “ terminator 3”, and so on with the old movies that are free everywhere else. I ended up looking up on my desktop for prices. I would have to rent it for $2, 3, 4, or 5 or buy for $9.99 in order to watch them. So a little confusing for me. I don’t know if I did something wrong where content coming up as paying or it shouldn’t be or just this is how Prime Video is. Cause, I’ll tell you, all of these movies or shows and much much more are all free on at least Netflix, Hulu, HBO, or my DirectTV now. I kept look for something they wanted to charge me where it wasn’t free somewhere else, but no, it’s free anywhere else. Luckily it’s a 30day free trial.

Also, I don’t understand this 4.8 rating for them? Seem to me for every bad rating, they put 2 good one and really the message just keeps reappearing with same messages if you read enough of them.

Amazon Prime Video New Profiles are Useless

I was excited to see that you finally let us set up separate account profiles for Amazon Prime Video. And, yet, it seems pointless to me because when using this service on say the television. Well, it never offers in the beginning for the user to pick an account profile, it automatically goes into the main account. I set up a separate account or rather profile I mean for my parents. But when they use Amazon Prime Video through something like a Blu-ray player, there is not an intro window like on Netflix or Disney+, that asks which profile you want to use. Instead you're just set in the main profile.

I just don't understand why the new profiles feature wasn't implemented like Netflix across the board in every Amazon Prime Video app instance out there? It boggles my mind to the extreme! It just makes zero sense to me. And it unfortunately makes a feature that I've wanted for forever in this service, absolutely useless in my opinion.

It was so easy to implement this feature I believe. Just look at Netflix for the way to set this up properly. Disney+, even figured this out right away. Just look at what happens when you open the Netflix app on any available platform. You're instantly met with a screen asking which user profile you would like to use, assuming you have more than one set up I guess. I just can't fathom how this new profiles feature wasn't implemented this way universally across all Amazon Prime Video platforms. It seems to me to be an egregious oversigh.

Please rethink how the new profiles function works for this app and service. All you have to do is to get your programmers to open up Netflix (if they are somehow, remarkably, unfamiliar with the inner workings of that program/service) and simply copy what darn near every app and service has done that utilizes different profiles for different account users since forever.

I just am at a loss for words almost for how poorly this new, long-requested feature, was implemented. It almost wants to give me a headache because of how bizarrely this was handled in my opinion. I appreciate all the work your programmers have done over the years, thank you. But this was handled in an extremely obtuse manner I believe. Please rectify this issue. Thanks and God bless.

Amazon Prime Video No “Continue Viewing” queue, line or list?!?! Duplicate, Non-Prime Versions of Many Films

In many versions of iOS as well as this Prime Video app there does not seem to be a continue viewing line or strip, (such as the “watch next” queue). Where is the film I, just a few seconds ago, was watching for the last 1/2 hour?!? Shouldn’t it be in “watch next”? Are you, Amazon, actually expecting paying customers to have to entire the title into the search field for the video they’ve just been watching every single time they have to exit the app or press their phone’s home button? If it’s actually somewhere on the home page or watch next queue than you’ve made it almost impossible to find. I’d rather the truth be that i’m a blind [censored] and that I have missed something than except the reality that Amazon is a giant, unethical, privacy smashing, bloated corporation, that is too big and profitable to care. YOU HAVE the resources and capital to create and maintain an excellent, stellar, user/customer friendly app. What you shouldn’t have are excuses. There are also many times I’ve moved on and continued searching for a video because it appeared that it wasn’t offered in Prime. Wrong! There have been many instances where there is one Prime version and another non-Prime with the same exact cut and running time, except the non-Prime version is always listed as being released one year later. Are these 4K versions and I’m not seeing it labeled accordingly? The entire Naked Gun trilogy has a non-Prime doppelgänger for each three films. And no, “33 1/3, The Final Insult” wasn’t released in 2019. Bezos- I guess you can’t pay for better developers, coders or programmers, (or whoever the hell’s responsibility this is), if you want to keep your position as wealthiest man in the world. My time and energy are valuable too, stop wasting it.

-edit [protected]: Btw, had enough of the disappearing, reappearing “skip intro” button and yes, I do want to read the very relevant information at the end of each Band of Brothers episode before the main credit roll. I’m tired of having to back track by reselecting the episode i was just watching, queueing up to point you people abruptly cut it short and then throw another ad in my face before jumping to the next episode. Please allow viewers to read that information before cutting to the next ad or episode!

Amazon Prime Video Episodes and Movies Not On Netlix!

I have Netflix for my family and not ready to give that up just yet but there are quite a few benefits you get with the Amazon Prime subscription that you do not get with Netflix. The Good - In addition to free shipping in record time on hundreds of items (which can be a huge savings if you buy often from Amazon, you will certainly recoup your cost with that benefit alone), borrowing electronic books to read is a plus and those are just some of the key benefits I have found in my 30+ days of exploring my new subscription. But let's focus this review on the Amazon movie viewing app...I like it, plus square :)! There are several shows on Amazon NOT on Netflix. Not to mention shows like Grime and few other of my favorite sci-fyish shows. Amazon has seasons from the beginning (Season One - current) not just the most reason seasons like Netflix. There are also movies on Amazon I've watched that are not on Netflix but again, not ready to throw Netflix out just yet. The Bad with Amazon Movie app...You have to buy Prime to truly use this service and that is not small plunge...you are out of pocket $99 up front vs Netflix monthly subscription. The overall cost is only $0.26/month more than you pay for Netflix but it' she up front plunge and commitment you have to make that is the true difference. You might want to consider sharing the cost with someone the first year to see I you think it's worth it. You can add up to 2 adults and 4 kids on your subscription. Of course they mentioned something about "household" but what does that really mean, Lol, wish I'd thought about that before I took the plunge, lol! Anywho, moving on...another not so great is that the quality of viewing on my iPad is fine (not great but fine) but not so good at all on my TV. Netflix quality viewing is much better on both devices. Another area I'd like to see them improve on is setting parental control for your kids. I have a couple of perfect little stinkers and I'd like to know that controls are set when they are viewing on their iPads. In closing I'd certainly recommend giving the Amazon Prime and the moving viewing app a try. Again, if you are hesitant try it with a friend for a year or so if you are like and are not ready to give up Netflix just yet. Hope this helps!

Amazon Prime Video From someone who tries to understand business

First of all, the catalog for Amazon Video isn't stellar. I find myself looking for something to watch for five-ten minutes. And it's usually something I've already watched. However, for the other features such as Prime Music and two-day shipping, it is a great alternative to Netflix, and there are many difficulties in getting more recent titles on the service.

The biggest complaint people have is the lack of Apple TV support and Chromecast. There is a reason for this. As some of you may know, the Fire TV stick (not entirely sure if this is the exact name) is Amazon's alternative to Chromecast. They want to sell these devices, and putting their services on other devices cuts the need for their Fire TV stick. While this is a user-hostile decision, let's face it; only Googoe and Microsoft work the other way. Apple doesn't. You can't stream anything you buy through iTunes on other platforms. And since you are reading this on the ios app store, I'm going to take a guess and assume you use an apple device. This business model shouldn't be foreign to you.

Overall, this is a very solid app. The UI is clean. I wish I could say the same about the desktop version, but this is a review of the mobile app. As far as reliability goes, the app never crashes and works all the time. I've used this app on an iPhone 6, an iPad Air, an iPad Pro, and an iPhone 5. No issues. And while Netflix users are praising the ability to finally download shows, Amazon's been letting users do that for a while now.

I'm going to end the review with one last piece of speculation. Amazon recently released Amazon Music Unlimited, which is an additional music service that pulls songs from everything Amazon's digital stores sell, meaning pretty much everything under the sun is there. This provided another option for those who felt that the catalog Amazon offered for music was lacking. It turned Amazon Music from a budget option for those who didn't want to spend on both Netflox and Spotify separately into a legitimate competitor to Spotify. I have a feeling that Amazon will be trying something like this for Amazon Video. This may never happen, and I haven't heard any reports of it, but if it does, Amazon Video could be a Netflix-Killer. Keep tabs on the service. I expect it to boom soon.

Amazon Prime Video Dysfunctional on a level rarely seen

Developers should get some kind of reward for how wholly Unfunctional this app is. Yea, it will stream movies. Unfortunately Amazon has positioned itself to be the center of the universe (specifically YOUR universe).
Want to manage any aspect of your account from this app? Too bad.
Again, it can stream videos. That much we know. It simply can’t manage anything else. Want to view your viewing history or a list of videos you’ve viewed? Every streaming app makes this as simple as 1-2-3. As it should be.
If you want to do it with Amazon be prepared for 40 minutes on a support call at best. At worst you’ll never, ever find it.
The Amazon app (the main one) suffers from the very same thing just in a different way. It’s so massive and so Incoherently organized and chaotic, it’s fairly clear that they don’t want you to be able to find basic settings. Why? Because If they made it easy for customers to find things, they’d lose a lot of customers. Regularly.
So it’s so huge and so poorly organized used and so poorly designed (unless it’s designed poorly on purpose with a reason) that you couldn’t find anything on there If you wanted.
It took me 45 seconds to find my viewing history on Hulu and Netflix. I spent 20 minutes googling how to find my viewing history on Amazon and STILL couldn’t find it.
If that’s not deliberate, Amazon is getting its logistics specialists and designers out of middle school.
Bottom line is that this app (and the other Amazon app) are pure chaos when it comes to organization and customers being able to find what they’re looking for and they’re organized this poorly with a reason in mind and it’s NOT to benefit the customer.
Go ahead. Open this app and try to find your viewing history. I’ll wait. I DARE you to try to find your viewing history. I’ll bet you a years Prime membership dues that you can’t find it without googling. And even if you google you won’t be able to find it. You’ll find a link to ERASE your viewing history (because apparently that’s much more important than viewing it) but you will not find a simple, basic link to find your viewing history.
And for that it deserves less than a star at best.
Like I said: want to stream a video? It’ll do that. Want anything else out of Amazon like information or organization? Good luck.

Amazon Prime Video Not the best app

When I first got prime video I didn’t know about Netflix and I have been using Prime video for about three years. The layout of overall movies is pretty weird and half of the stuff you have to have Netflix to watch it. It takes forever to download movies and I don’t really like the selection of movies they have on there. It’s not really the best app. But then again I can’t have Netflix so prime is what I would go with I don’t really like watching the movies on there they’re not very interesting. My phone is so old it won’t allow me to get Netflix so I have to use Prime Video I don’t really like it it’s kind of a dumb app nothing really works I don’t like the selection of movies on there I think they should get some of the movies on Netflix and add it to Prime Video just to make it a little more interesting and change the layout because the layout is really weird. I don’t really like the color of the app but that’s just my opinion I think that the app is for the most part it’s fine just don’t really like it, it’s pretty bad.
Because I have T-Mobile and all my other apps take like a millisecond to download Prime Video takes like an hour or two to download one episode a movie it’s ridiculous. I have to have the iOS 13 update on Netflix so I just use Prime Video I don’t really use it very much anymore just because I don’t really like watching movies. Usually on my TV and watch Netflix if you are a new user and you’re looking into getting a Prime Video I would say go to Netflix it’s much better it takes up a little bit more storage but it’s way better and has probably all movies you’re gonna wanna watch. Disney+ is pretty good to it has a bunch of the Disney movies if you are one of those people who loves Disney and is all about it it has marvel it also has Nat Geo wild on it which is pretty cool I usually use Disney+ more I don’t really like Netflix as much but you know Disney+ and Netflix are a go to not prime video it’s not very good. I do like prime video.Plus you can’t watch any anime on it. I’m probably like one out of three people on here that likes watching anime but I’m obsessed with watching anime so Netflix and other apps are probably better Disney+ does not have any anime which is really a bummer for me Netflix is way better for anime stuff if you’re like well people like me who just loves anime. I would get Netflix!

Amazon Prime Video Poor Download Speed, Poor Video Qaulity & Hidden Settings

To the Developers and CEO of Amazon:

The Prime App that offers very poor quality video regardless what resolution setting is chosen, in my case i have it set to “best” for both streaming and downloading in which i always download for better quality but instead what i get is video full of “Macroblocking (pixelation) that blurs the video image and i miss important parts of the movie or show and even if I go back it still blurred at the same spot. This is most likely due to amazon using low grade “Video Compression Codecs”, when they could be using the latest like everyone else. I can see prime video lasting if they don’t fix this issue. This is really poor to offer you customers when they are the heart of your business. No matter what quality you download its always messed up. I hope amazon take ownership for this issue and fixes it.

Other Issues:

(1) Everyone who uses this app by default will only get 720P quaily with any downloaded or streamed video. The oly way to get truly high quality Video on the Prime Video app is to find the tucked away settings that are in “My Profile -> Settings (the gear at the top right) then -> select “Streaming & Downloading” and make sure there both on “Best” then you will get the best video quailty”

The issue here is Amazon prime make this so hard to find its not intuive either. Ther should be a prompt when you first open the app on what video qauily you would like for watching video so ppl are more aware of these settings. I was about to stop prime video until i just found this out thankfully.

(2) This is more of a bigger issue, when every using the prime video app and downloading a video is soooo slow to download anything, when i can download the same movie from Apple Tv app in less then 6mins, but the same move in the prime app takes 15min or more. Some fine tuning and optimzing is serious needed here.

(3) also on occasion the button button pane will flash from a solid color to transparent on a pretty decent occurance.
(4) new issue - even when you have “best” download or stream quailty selected if a movie support HD it still wont download that version at all. I download a move that was 1h 30min long and it was 400 mb ! No way any HD movie is that low, almost all HD movie take up in the GB’s. AMAZON FIX THIS!

All this is on a fresh installed iPad Pro 12.9 2020 version.

Hope to see some fixes in the next update.

Amazon Prime Video Dirty, sneaky, unethical parasites

If you have an Amazon account for ordering online and you open up an Amazon prime account they are supposed to take payment from the card you used that has YOUR NAME ON THE CARD! NOT AN ELDERLY RELATIVE WHO SOME TIME HAS YOU ORDER VITAMINS FOR THEM AND IS NOT EVEN ON THE PRIME ACCOUNT TO BEGIN WITH! THE TWO ACCOUNTS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SEPARATE ANYWAY, AT LEAST THAT IS WHAT THEY SAY! SO IMAGINE MY SURPRISE WHEN THEY WENT AND USED A CARD THEY WERE NOT ONLY NOT AUTHORIZED TO USE, AND DID NOT HAVE MY NAME ON, BUT WAS FROM A DIFFERENT TO BOOT! I GOT SO ANGRY THAT I THREW THE AMAZON FIRESTIX IN THE GARBAGE AND WENT OUT AND BOUGHT A ROKU FROM HOME DEPOT THE VERY NEXT DAY! The thought occurred to me that if we went to all digital currency this sort of thing could happen and we would have no recourse whatsoever in similar situations. Here in this situation they can't pull this because laws still matter to some degree and we still have fiat currencies, but what if we didn't? Imagine your bank account wiped out or shut down and you could not buy food, pay rent or a house payment, anything else for that matter? Imagine all the various corporations being able to do as they pleased, INCLUDING THE GOVERNMENT CORPORATIONS AROUND THE WORLD? They could just cut you off and you would be able to do nothing about it. I am going to start buying from more small businesses and big stores as well, AND LESS ONLINE. They are trying really hard to move us into a cashless society so that they have complete control. Even Walmart you can at least pay with cash still The fact that Amazon could pull something like this and not get into any kind of trouble for it and we haven't even gotten too that point yet tells me all I need to know about this future that's being planned for us all. Imagine a world ruled by CORPORATIONS AND NOT PEOPLE IN THEIR INDIVIDUAL COUNTRIES? Amazon has gotten so bog that they now feel that they can do as they please and they are treating their customers like dirt and they disrespect their customers because they think they cannot be replaced. BY THE WAY? I HAVE MY NEW ROKU HOOKED UP AND IT WORKS GREAT! I'M SO HAPPY I GOT RID OF FIRESTIX AND AMAZON PRIME I COULD SCREAM FOR JOY! NO MORE GLITCHES, SCREWED UP SCREEN, UNAUTHORIZED PAYMENTS, NO MORE BEING CHARGED FOR A FULL MONTH WHEN I WAS SUPPOSED TO GET A SUBSCRIPTION FREE FOR THE FIRST WEEK OR MONTH AS A PROMOTIONAL DEAL, I GOT MORE BUT MY FINGERS WOULD HAVE CRAMPS BY THE TIME I WAS DONE.

Amazon Prime Video Favorite streaming service, but odd quirks

Overall the app works well, and I love the content. However, the reason for 3 stars is I’m dumbfounded at how silly some of the features are. The biggest head scratcher for me is, why do you have to add each season of a show to your watchlist separately, and not just add a show and have all seasons? For a six (or 10, or 20...) season show, you have to add all six seasons separately, AND they all show up individually in your watchlist menu, clogging it needlessly. If you forget where you left off, you have to remember which season to click on. If you click season 4 by accident because you forgot you didn’t finish season 3, it’s not going to warn or tell you in any way. Even in the shows’ home pages, they treat every season like a separate show altogether. Netflix and Hulu seamlessly show all seasons under the same show home page, which just makes sense.

I also wish the app prominently would tell you when a new season of a show you watch has been added. They just added a new season of Homecoming, but the only reason I even knew was because I happened to see the advertisement for it. It made me wonder if any other shows I like have seasons I haven’t seen. Hulu has a smart “New Episodes” banner on shows with episodes you haven’t seen yet, and they also have a “X unwatched episodes” banner on every show in your watchlist that has unwatched episodes. Netflix also prominently notifies you when a new season is added. Maybe prime does it by email or something, but it should tell you right in the app.

They sometimes start you on the latest season of a show, when you haven’t seen any of it. I’ve mistakenly started on a late season several times before realizing I had to specifically navigate a bunch of screens to the “seasons” list and manually choose season 1.

If you are almost done with an episode of a show, but not completely finished, and exit, when you come back they automatically jump you to the start of the next episode.

There are no good sort options. There is NO way to just search “thrillers”, for example, or “drama”.

There is no way to filter by free content. You have to go into the show itself to see if it’s included or if you need to pay to rent it.

If you click on a show, you can’t just add it to your watchlist. You have to go to “seasons”, THEN add the season to your watchlist. Forget about scrolling through shows and adding to watchlist as you go.

Mind you, this is on the TV - I don’t use the iPhone app and it may be better...but they should improve the interface on their actual TV app.

Amazon Prime Video Racist Amazon

I thought that for just a moment that I could watch a super hero show and forget about how the left crams their ideas down our throats. The show starts off with what I was told by a co-worker with blood sex and super heroes. But as it goes on, it slowly starts to bring in left wing communistic ideology and victimhood.

The main superman dark hero has nice blonde hair (like Donald Trump)…Shocker. The left has done this on several series.
They pour gay gay gay and rainbows on as much as they can (I mean it is all over the series), having the lesbian character come out of the closet by blonde superman…and make it interracial of course. They have the French guy ask a straight black guy (who shows him a ring he wants to give to his wife) if he wants some transgendered strippers for their wedding? The main guy who is in charge of the coperation the Supers work with stating that he could never get ahead as he grew up against white racist…even though he is the man leading the company.

You have the same black male who was offered transgendered strippers for his wedding stating, “Lick his big black balls” among with other racist quotes. Imagine if a white guy said that. Lol

At one point you have the fast black guy who the series plot started off with him on drugs and killing a woman running through her all of the sudden not have a heart problem and getting back into the team of 7 super heroes. You have the leader of a religious group tell the aqua man like character he is acting like a fascist and tells he needs to leave after congratulating the black guy he got the spot with the 7 group. So let me get this straight aqua character who was a womanizer, gets kicked off the team for manipulating a hero for having oral sex doesn’t get back in? He tries to reform, spends a long time trying to do it the right way, therapy, told who he should marry, cleaned up his act and puts in the work. I’m not saying he is a saint. They are all messed up. But, he gets pushed to the side for fast drug using, murdering, heart problem having black guy back in there after stealing documents out of their own vault. Getting praise because stealing shows great initiative.

The left is poison. They kept throwing in msmbc or fake news CNN. This is why ratings on the left tank. You are garbage and people are sick of it. That is probably why I only saw 3 seasons. Same crap happened with the Obi-Wan series. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

This show summed up?

Gay, transgendered strippers, racist white people or being told how racist we are, more gay gay gay, little feminism, victimhood, with racism again.

What a waste of time.

Amazon Prime Video Amazon really really hate Apple

I’m writing a review here on my iPhone because I can’t even figure out how to write one on my Apple TV. Being unable to write a review, or to even read anyone else’s reviews, is most certainly impacting the timbre of the following thoughts.

We all know that Apple and Amazon are rivals. I don’t care, and it shouldn’t be my problem. I’ll reiterate, it shouldn’t involve me or any other customer. By intentionally making your product (the Prime app for Apple TV) operate poorly on Apple’s system, the ONLY…..THE ONLY thing you accomplish is to paint your company with an air of pettiness and undesirability.

But I’ll try get to my point. Many updates ago, when I first got Apple TV, roughly 10 years ago; while using the Prime app, customers were unable to read the full description of any program. My internet search quickly led me to join the common belief that it was intentional because Amazon wanted you to use their branded streaming interface, rather than Apple. In annoyance, I immediately started to look for programming on every other app and only used Prime as a last resort. Then, things got better when they fixed that particular issue - so I started looking at Prime more often. That was, until I tried to rent a streaming movie and couldn’t. I could not figure out how. I tried to read how but found no answers, until I finally got so bored one day that I called customer service and sat on hold for an hour so I could learn why.

“You have to log into your Amazon account on your computer and order your program.” I was told.

“But I don’t have a computer! I just have iPhones and iPads.” I explained.

“Well you can’t currently order Prime programming that way.”

?!

Whatever. Back to my other apps. Eventually they remedied that ridiculousness, and sent me many emails to make sure I knew. Good idea. I came back….

Until today, that is. I recently got hooked on a show and binged the first season. It turns out that my Prime membership only entitles me to watch the first season. Subsequent seasons are extra $$. It feels like a bait ‘n’ switch. In annoyance I looked at other Prime programming (strictly because I had already struck out with other streaming options) and discovered a familiar irritating flaw. The app has reverted to having no way to read the entire description of any program.

Well, Amazon, if this nonsense somehow plays into your grand plan - I guess you’ve succeeded. I now fully understand that your relationship with Apple is more infantile than my elementary school sibling rivalry with my brothers. I applaud you for your dedication to a monumental level of childishness. Bravo. I bow to the royalty of the short-sighted.

But you make billions of dollars and I don’t, so I’m probably the fool. And it seems that I spent way too much time on this rant, so you even inadvertently fooled me into dominating tonight’s entertainment - even if it didn’t involve using the Prime app. Please send novelty jester hat….but only if it has free Prime delivery.

Amazon Prime Video BUGGY since several versions (latest 8.31)

4 Bugs that need fixing NOW. The first 3 are new in app version 8. The 4th has existed since version 1. OneStar rating now; add 1 star for every bug you fix. 1*** DOWNLOAD BUG: Downloads reset when quitting, and other download bugs. If you quit the app (or another app you've switched to quits it) while a video is downloading or while some downloads are paused, when the app is run again, all the in-progress and paused downloads are deleted and restarted from 0 bytes every time. Resume status is not saved between app restarts. Been this way for several versions now and never gets fixed. Major pain. Oh, and the app will also sometimes crash and when restarted, the downloads go crazy and freeze the app and it won't load, requiring a reboot of the phone. Your downloads USED to be hands down by far THE BEST of any streaming app out there. Now it's kinda useless. 2*** MISSING CHANNEL BUG: Subscribe channel doesn't appear if rent/buy displayed. For videos that are available on a channel, they always say "Subscribe" in watchlists and searches, as they always have. But now when viewing the movie details, if the video is also available on Amazon for rent/buy, it doesn't tell you what channel has it; only the rent/buy info is shown. If it's NOT available to rent/buy, then it does tell us the channel. Big hassle. This bug began when you started allowing rent/buy purchases from the app. Just tell us what channel every time, so we can go to the website and subscribe to it. We're not going to rent it if it's on a channel. 3*** RATING BUG: Rating popup appears every time, even with parental controls off. This garish huge blue popup accompanied by stupid lurid descriptions all in a blue haze, blocks a third of the screen every time we play a movie or episode, even if we're just continue watching from the middle. You never used to annoy us with this useless interruption. The parental control setting should keep this OFF. And it definitely should not show in the MIDDLE of a movie. We have to pause, then hide the controls to let it appear, then wait 10 seconds, then watch the movie. Every Time. I think you're doing this just to annoy the majority of us who are adults: We Don't Need To See The Ratings. 4*** NEXT UP BUG: A super-annoying "next up" popup appears in the lower-right, toward the end of every movie or episode. Turning the Autoplay setting OFF should prevent this. The big problem is it does NOT appear AT the end; it appears while we're still watching, sometimes before the credits, and always blocking the credits we're trying to read. We have to click the tiny little "hide" to get it to disappear, and usually miss and it begins to play another movie we don't want of course. There already is a "next episode" link there in the controls we can press. We don't need our movies blocked by anything. This has been an annoyance since version freaking 1.0 of this app. Get Rid Of It Finally! Autoplay doesn't even work since it switches to the next episode or another movie before the one you're watching is finished; where's the sense in that? No popups of any kind ever! I don't pay for popups.

Amazon Prime Video Hey Amazon

I know I like to go ahead and use the hyper link Amazon.com and call out bezos to submit the evidence to Quora about biden build back better being about communism for america right. I wonder if you had done that right? Either way? Sorry for putting you on the spot really it’s just you know? Impossibly frustrating the situation that these people put me into. Now to mention traumatizing as fucj right. It’s like the democrat party wants to pretend that being molested as a kid wasn’t hard enough, but then again? The second time was worse… I promise. I’d had to do things during this for these international education and career bears which will truly haunt me for the rest of my life. And truly? Sometimes I fly into fits of rage over it at how ridiculous the dem party, google and microsoft have been during this. When I’d set out to accomplish this for the boss bears? I’d really had woven law into this and always stayed within those guidelines to pull off the investigation. In such unorthodox style, full Jesus mode, that I felt was the only way to get this accomplished for all mankind. When I’d been met with the democrat party’s attempt to bend and betray law in typical communist fashion. I of course get frustrated and blow up sometimes you know? Truly I’d had no idea how terrible the things would be that these people would do to me. And? At the beginning? I’d had such a high spirit about the aspects of progress for humanity, the aspect of helping women in ways that would be beneficial to me and them. Unlike in college, just rescuing them from domestic abuse or rape, found in party scenes. Now of course given the absurd violation of law that the democrat party and the criminals with badges that the big tech firms employ? I rage out sometimes. And for that? I apologize right? It would just seem as though to me that you know? In my mind I’d spent my whole life trying to protect women from these same things that happened to me and? I guess I just get frustrated that karma doesn’t seem to always come around full circle. I mean let’s be honest. It was finding out well ped0 pete molested his daughter a year after I saved her from rape. That caused the course of action I’d engaged upon here within and? I guess you know in retrospect that I should expect it. Power hungry democrat political clowns, China and the prospect of profiting from 5G would? Of course cause me some trouble yet? Still it absolutely blows my mind that the military doesn’t act more quickly. I suppose that with their white slavery plan it makes sense, to an insane person. But I digress. I suppose this is why I must lean on international courts and marriages with Lockheed lindso to keep the dem party’s corruption in line. And? Of course? That marie thing makes the most sense and then? Of course with pari. The aspect of drawing Indian cooperation into nasa is just one part of the equation. Due to this whole china response with cuckvid. It only makes most sense to move apple factories to india to escape being looked at as implicated in the democrat crime spree. Either way? Thank you for the subliminal messages, the cool shows that are sometimes made for me and?

The submission of evidence?

Amazon Prime Video Won't work

(Older Review):
It worked for a few days, and now it won't get past the spinning wheel of death when you first open it, and IF you get lucky, it will open, but you can't click on anything or watch anything, and I BOUGHT SIX different series, so... PLEASE FIX THIS! It hasn't worked for DAYS and I can't take it anymore!
(New Review):
You spelled your own new TV show’s name wrong... there are “f”s in Russian, which look like this: ф. This is how you spell it: Romanov (the “в” at the end of Romanov is pronounced like an English “v,” NOT one (or two) “f”(s), which is how you guys have spelled the name of the show. Also, a huge part of having a successful show is showing respect for the family and the tragedy that our family had to endure at the end of the Romanov’s royal family line, when they were executed by the very evil bolsheviks, too. Романов is how it’s spelled in Russian, and you guys basically have it saying, “Романофф” in Russian because the “ф” is pronounced as an English “f,” and the two “f”s would be how you guys had initially spelled the name (Romanoff), which is incorrect. It’s “Romanov,” NOT Romanoff. Романов (Romanov) is correct, and Романофф (Romanoff) is incorrect. I just thought I’d let you guys know that because you guys (probably) want to get the show to get off to a good start and have it keep going for a long time, and a huge part of that is spelling the name correctly, which you didn’t spell correctly in English. Romanov. So, it is RomanoV, NOT RomanoFF. I hope that this helps you guys out a little bit, and I hope that you guys can change the name before the show premieres, especially since getting a show to be a hit, ESPECIALLY internationally, you would really have to spell the name Romanov correctly. I hope this helps you guys understand how to properly spell and pronounce the name the way that it’s supposed to be spelled and/or pronounced in English and in Russian instead of having it start off with the show name pronounced incorrectly. It is also a sign of respect, like I said before, & they/we DO deserve respect, especially after the tragedies of having the royal family executed about 100 years ago. Just saying... it would be very nice and very much appreciated if you could please show that respect & spell the name how it’s supposed to be spelled in English. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my email, and please have a wonderful and blessed day. Take care.
P.S. So you aren’t confused, I am/was adopted as a child, and they changed my name, but I had my name changed back to what it was intended to be in the first place a few years ago, so I will sign off as such...
Sincerely,
Svetlana Anastasia Romanov (which is the English version).
(And Светлана Анастасия Романов, which is the Russian version.)
P.P.S. I really hope that you guys took care whilst writing the Russian parts of the show, as most American (and even some naive Europeans) people have an extremely difficult time translating Russian into English or vice versa. It’s a difficult language to translate for SO many people, and MOST American shows, save The Americans (since they had so many Russian actors on the show, so they were able to help them with the dialect), have no idea what they’re saying, and just throw random Russian words into their shows instead of taking the time to translate them properly. I hope that this helps you guys too, and thank you so much again. Take care.
Best regards,
Svetlana Anastasia Romanov.

Amazon Prime Video Right now,top of the line streaming app

This app is what Netflix used to be.the ease of having the ability to skip back 10 seconds or forward 10 seconds with just one tap of the screen beats nflix in itself.(yes I know you can tap the Netflix screen than tap they 10 second rewind ,but the forward is awesome when you want to scrub accurately thru beginning credits.the massive amount of content is amazing ,but I think video for video Netflix offers better tv series and movies ,just not the amount Amazon is able to produce.
The bad of thee app is I hate that I have to go off app,on to a browser (not even the Amazon shopping app will allow purchasing non prime vids) and log in ,find the movie, make sure you have the right card ,right movie and rent or buy the movie I want.it would be soooooo much easier if it was all able to be done in app.im sure it's in the works because I took a star off cuz of it.
But the catalog of movies is massive and Amazon (like Netflix)is coming out with some amazing shows of its own. 'THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE' MAY be the best show I've seen in a long time since game of thrones.with an increased budget ,it could be epic..but Amazon gives me options with prime that Netflix dosent.if the video isn't free as included in the prime aka Netflix and my family really wanna see it,odds are I can rent it in either HD/SD with 1$ difference between the 2 ,and honestly on smaller screens you really can't tell the difference.but the amount of material means you also will see a cover that looks good,Malays watch a preview and read reviews because Amazon has so many movies on the market .that some look like high school productions or community college quality stuff.but it seems now that Amazon is getting even better as they are incorp apps into the service (pre Amazon Fire tv) like "stars" Cinemax" "HBO" stuff like that .also a lot of HBO,showtime stuff is free on Amazon prime.
The streaming service aside, the free 2 day shipping of almost anything is worth the seemingly large80$ annual fee.but when you see the deals Amazon shopping has and throw in free 2 day (that often arrives next day) you can't help but wonder why everyone isn't using it.my mom is anti tech and anti-everything modern.but after demanding she go from flip phone to smart, than p.c to Mac ,than fire tv and roku sheiks now barely tech savvy.but she LOVES AMAZON SHOPPING AND STREAMING like I never would have believed! She's done all her xmas shopping on it,buys all her clothes, loves the return policy and can't seriously beat the price as well as the odd things that you find that you never would have known about and now can't imagine living w/o...
EXAMPLE: I got her a glovebox car battery jumpstarter for xmas.she hates driving at night and is getting worry some as she gets older and knows nothing about cars.so when I told her that this cell phone sized box with a cord that has a cigarette lighter adapter on the end of it will jump start her car should she ever need it,she went bonkers.she dosent even have to exit the car and do the dreaded walk around the lot asking grouchy inconsiderate people to help her out.all she does is open glove box.plug into cig outlet the cord, plug the cord to the battery box that fits in your palm and turn on the power and wait 5 mins and BAMMMMMM! Her car is running and turning the switch to reverse charges it on her way home.
But prime is my new cable.i haven't watched cable in 5 months aside from my chargers games and recently the floods here in San Diego,ca.i guess with Amazon prime, roku I'm a full fledged cord cutter...I hope Amazon keeps developing shows, honing the easy streamlined interface on the video player that is pretty much as perfect as could be ,aside from a casting button.
P.s x-Ray is an awesome touch screen feature that when's the screen is tapped ,about 1/10 of the screen shows all the actors names and character names.tap on that actor and you are transported to IMDb based built in app that tells you why you swore you knew that actor from some other movie.its awesome and helps easily without taking you off the video ,to a history of roles, pics, movies and even add them to wish list.if Amazon keeps growing like it is,Netflix is going to have to offer us newer episodes of tv shows like family guy,American dad the league.i can't recommend this app more, just wish I could buy movies or rent them w/o leaving the page ...

Amazon Prime Video Customer service representative

I called and spoke with an Indian man to tell him that I had left my phone at the jewelry store and couldn’t get it until Monday and I could not get into my account due to my two factor authentication. I told him I had rented movies and wanted to watch them and needed help resolving the issue. He said that he would help me and then told me he would send me a link to my email. I told him that again I didn’t have my phone and my whole life was in my phone passwords and all. He then said well I can’t help you. I then told him I wanted to cancel my movies because I wouldn’t be able to watch them and I wasn’t going to pay for something I’m not going to get to see. He said that he wasn’t canceling anything, the call was being recorded and he was hanging up. I said wait a minute, I would like to speak with your manager. He said good for you. I said excuse me? He then put me on hold and never came back. I’m now canceling all my subscriptions with Amazon, would like to be refunded for my movies and will make sure that my friends and family all drop Amazon immediately as your company did nothing to help me out with my situation. Amazon customer support told me in so many ways that I was S.O.L because of an accident that happened over the weekend with my phone.

Desired outcome: An apology, for the representative to be reprimanded if not removed from Amazon Customer Service and me be notified of it. Then I would keep my subscriptions and not tell friends and family to drop Amazon.

Amazon Prime Video Unreliable playback history and language/subtitle settings issues w/ tvOS … Support useless

You’d think with billions of dollars they could afford to design an incredible, flawless and reliable streaming app (UI). Ongoing issues with playback unexpectedly stopping (black screen, spiking circle) and then jumping ahead after restarting playback. This has only been an issue in the last month or two. No errors and no issue with other streaming apps or network/internet. And on top of that, the UI is still poorly implemented. Trying to navigate with subtitles or language during playback is terrible. I have to keep manually changing it because it won’t automatically choose the original language w/ English subtitles or switchback to English w/ no subtitles. Seriously, how complicated is it to design an intuitive video playback interface? I prefer tvOS and OSD. Prime Video has never worked well (responds,…) with Apple TV remote either. Contacting support is a waste of time. UPDATE: Still no change. Episodes that I finish watching start over at beginning as if i didn’t watch it and show up as such in ATV Up Next. I just started watching what I thought was the next episode and it was the same one from last week. Plus, since I had just watched a different show episode that required me to change the subtitles and language (English/Spanish), the other show used those settings. Come on Amazon. Wake up. I shouldn’t have to change those settings every time. It should be automatic. I HATE THE UI. BRING BACK ATV UI WITH DROP DOWN MENU. I’m growing tired, fed up with Amazon. But we can’t stop.

Amazon Prime Video Horrible Design, Massive Cache

There are far too many streaming video apps out there now, obviously. Many of those won’t make it in the end. I don’t know how Prime Video will turn out, but I can tell you this much: never have I used a more hideous and unintuitive streaming app, ever. The iOS app isn’t the worst one (try the Smart TV app; you’ll pull your hair out! Even still, using it with a Chromecast is immensely worse) but it’s still filled with issues. Why does every season of a show need to be listed separately? Why does a show need a separate title for HD and UHD? (I play the UHD videos on both my 4K TV and my little 720p TV depending on where I am, and they both work fine with the UHD copy of the show) Why is the UI of Prime Video ultimately just so astonishingly bad? My conclusion is that the infrastructure of Prime Video was a graduate project for some student somewhere — and not top of their class either — because that’s the kind of quality we’ve got here.

Also I’m sorry, but why does this app need 600+ MB of “Documents & Data” on my phone when I have no downloads from Prime Video? Surely it doesn’t take that much space to store login info. If the app is going to store cache on that level and Apple doesn’t want to force a system-level cache control on apps, all apps who use large amounts of cache need to implement their own cache clearing/management features — Amazon, I need the option to clear what I can only assume is cached thumbnails and text that can easily be redownloaded the next time I open the app and they’re needed.

Amazon Prime Video All garbage videos

Everything included with prime is just absolute garbage. Navigation to begin with is disgustingly long and boring. Nothing listed in appropriate categories, with endless scrolling to find nothing after 30 minutes. Most of it is old and outdated. Ya wanna watch a half decent show, it still costs ya. An hour later saw one movie that caught my eye, tried downloading for later but no for some reason the download does not apear in the downloaded tab. I never did like streaming as it never ever plays all the way through without pausing or stopping, but not being able to even find a decent something to watch is even worse than the streaming interruptions.
Amazon should stick to selling items and get out of this music and tv service. They have absolutely no idea what a consumer has to go through to enjoy some entertainment. It should be instant, not a half hour to get a movie started. Nothing good to say about this one.
Update. Its been over a week and i still cant find even one interesting free movie. Everything free is the ones i see on tv all the time. If its not currently on tv, you will most likely have to pay to see it. Its more a waste of time, than it is money. You spend hours looking for something and they just dont filter out the free stuff that is available for me. They just trying to get you to pay for videos. So, from two stars, all the way down as low as it can possibly go. At this point id rather pay for hulu, or one of those other services, gut it wont happen. I dont pay to see shows that stop partially in so they can load more for me.

Amazon Prime Video Am Preparing to CANCEL!

Doesn’t have a very user friendly interface, for one thing. The main problem I have is that when I’m watching a show and the program will go from HD to SD and that’s a major distraction; it will start out HD and then a few minutes into the show, my HD becomes SD with huge pixels and the viewing experience is RUINED! I have fiddled around with the settings and I change the settings so that I don’t have the large pixels but I shouldn’t have to do that. I’m paying all this money for a subscription and I can’t even get reliable HD programming? What am I paying for? I seldom have that issue on other streaming services I use (Netflix, Hulu, AppleTV, Disney+) so I doubt that it’s my WiFi connection; when it does happen with these other apps it’s brief and rare. Also, there are lots of movies that I can’t watch because they’re not included on “Prime” and I need to have another subscription to a premium cable channel’s streaming service to watch it. Again, what am I paying for with Prime Video? If it’s on Netflix, What I see is what I get. I’d hate to cancel my subscription to Prime Video and delete the app because you have couple of original TV series that I do enjoy and I want to have access to them if they are renewed. But again, I’m a sucker because of the money I’m paying every month and the service is poor for that amount of money. Such subpar service for a streaming service from a company that was founded by and owned by the wealthiest person on Earth. My monthly subscription is going to Jeff so that he can build another mega mansion with 70 bathrooms?!

Amazon Prime Video Good-but needs a lot of work

Pros:
Great selection of movies, and worth the money paid!

Cons:
-Rewinding anything is a freaking chore.
-While casting you can only rewind in 10 second increments which takes about another 10 seconds to load, and another 5 for you to be able to rewind again (so really you’re only rewinding in 5 second increments).
-The subtitles are substantially flawed. They’re constantly misspelling words or just putting the wrong word in general. I was watching a John Wayne Gacy documentary, and it kept reading as “John Wayne KC” it’s super frustrating. That’s just one example of the insane amount of issues. They’re is also little to no punctuation, and half of one person’s sentence will pop up on the other person’s sentence when they reply. I have small kids so I have to keep my volume very quiet during mornings/nights, so I rely on those subtitles for things I can’t quite hear. I can’t imagine how confused someone in the deaf community is while watching one of your shows/ movies.
-The whole layout is really weird which makes browsing movies/ shows really difficult
-When you select “free to me” movies you still get tons of movies you have to subscribe to.
-If you’re wanting to watch a show that has multiple seasons (I’m watching Vikings right now) you can’t just find the title and start watching, they have everything divided up by seasons, so you have to hunt for season 2 after you’ve finished season 1.
-It also forgets where you are in a series sometimes, and when you click “play next episode” or whatever it says, it could catapult you backwards 3 episodes for some reason.

Amazon Prime Video Horriable customer service even as prime memeber

After over five years with them as a prime customer with no issues today I realized they have the worst customer service of any company I have ever did business with. I’ve spent thousands of dollars with them and there service has been great till you have to deal with them directly. I called in about something on my account a return I did not process and the gentleman put me on hold then comes back and tells me he locked my account without my permission I never asked him to lock anything. Then tells me I can’t order anything for 2 business days till they contact me back with weekend that makes four days so my sons computer he needed for online school is not available for me to order now. When I asked to speak to supervisor he transferred me to Lewis who was no help and just talked over me telling me they locked it for my own good really I did not ask you to lock anything. Then when i asked to talk to his supervisor they don’t talk to customers directly and the department that can unlock my account don’t talk to customers directly. So basically amazon supervisor and departments our to good and above the customers that spend money with them to take the time to deal with the screw ups there representatives make and could care less about helping you. I never have felt with a company that I spent so much money with that would not talk to you. I guess when your so big you don’t have to worry about making your customers happy so sad. So now I guess it’s off to Walmart.com to order his computer for schilling and the other items I need to get now. Thanks Amazon for taking care of your customers.

Amazon Prime Video Disastrous Update, EPIC FAIL!

With the recent “new and improved update” I am missing Acorn, Britbox, and Masterpiece subscriptions on iOS device even I uninstalled and reinstalled the app.
The “top navigation bar which now houses ‘Categories’ and My Stuff options” is not available on the app version. This is NOT a better option if it’s not available!

“Unfortunately you cannot go back to the previous experience, this update has been rolled out to all the customers. Our studies have revealed that this menu arrangement better serve the general searching needs.
I was informed by Amazon that this is a global issue and many customers are impacted by this globally.” IN OTHER WORDS, TOO BAD!

I was told there is a change in the layout of the Prime video app, on the place of the "Watch now" we have now ‘Categories’ and My Stuff options. NOT TRUE

Prime Video customers can now access a new version of the top navigation bar which now houses ‘Categories’ and My Stuff options. NOT TRUE
-- My Stuff: Easier way for customers to access their ‘Watchlist’ and ‘Your Video Library’ in one page.
-- Categories: This will contain links to the most used pages like Top categories (included with Prime, Amazon Originals, Movies, TV Shows, etc.), Genres, etc.

Sub-Navigation bar under Prime Video home page banner will be removed, which includes - All Videos, Included with Prime, Channels and Rent or buy. Some of these filters will move directly under top navigation bar under Categories and My Stuff. NOT TRUE
1. You can refine your search to see only Prime content under the ‘Categories’ option.
2. You can also find the Kids, Movies and TV under the same ‘Categories’ option.

Amazon Prime Video Okay appearance but lots of little issues

The Amazon Prime Video app has an okay visual design for a tablet video app, but there are lots of little things that detract from the experience.

1) Downloading videos can take foooorrrreeeeevvvvveeeeerrrr If you want to download a few movies before you fly out, Give yourself at least 2 hours per movie. A few times I've had solid download speeds but most of the time it's ridiculously slow. And I have 100Mbps internet and top notch WiFi.

2) AirPlay from the Amazon Video app can be a real pain. The Amazon app in particular seems to hate playing consecutive shows. I've tested with other apps like Netflix and do not have this problem. What happens is I'll send the show to my Apple TV, watch it, and then at the end of the episode click play next video. Then the Amazon Video app will try to figure out what it's doing for up to several minutes before playing the next video. It's inconsistent and very annoying.

3) TV shows should not be listed by individual season in the library or downloaded section, they should just be listed As "TV Show X" and when you open it, you could see like "Season 1 (13)" or something along those lines if you have 13 episodes downloaded. Having each individual season listed adds tons of clutter.

4) Some things just take an inordinate amount of time. In "TV Show X" and going from season 2 to Season 3? It might take 20-30 seconds to load the season 3 page, even if you have it downloaded. If you stop, go back and then go directly to the season 3 season that you downloaded it'll open instantly, but if you try to go just directly from season 2 to season 3 (or any two seasons) it'll take forever. It makes no sense and is a ridiculous problem to have.

Amazon Prime Video What happened to this app?

I use an iPad 2017, and have never had issues with the Amazon app before, but just recently after the newest IOS update, I am unable to switch different color variation pictures on the app. Example: I was looking at swim caps. The default picture was a black swim cap. However, there were other color options available like red, white, blue, etc. upon clicking on the other color selections, the picture still reflected the black cap, but it had chosen the red one. Now the worst part. I had ordered what I had thought was the red cap. Guess what? I received the black cap. Thought it was a fluke on one product, so I ordered a pair of scrubs for my job. I needed large, but the default size was XL. I clicked on the Large selection with no issues and ordered what I had thought was large. Again I receive my order with the XL scrubs. I tried to uninstall the app and reinstall the app after an iPad reboot. Nope. Still the same issues. Pictures of other product color variation, nor size will not change. Worst part is if I order the size/color I’m trying to click on, it returns to the default size and color and will order that default size and color. I have no way of contacting Amazon tech support for their prime app. Every other selection is there except this darned app. So, here I am making a low 2-star review in hopes that someone at Amazon who handles app updates realizes that they need to fix their app somehow. My iPad is running the most current IOS and I’ve ensured that I have a non-corrupted Amazon Prime app after deleting and then rebooting my iPad and then reinstalling the app again. Basically, TL/dr: The app is useless right now. Amazon, please fix. Thank you!

Amazon Prime Video WHERE IS THE IMDB CHANNEL ON APPLE TV⁉️⁉️⁉️

Update 10/15
Still ONLY A SHORT LIST OF IMDB programming instead of a link to see ALL OF THE FREE WITH PRIME IMDB PROGRAMMING

Update: 10/8
Paying prime member, but some things I can’t watch on “amazon prime on Roku, why? Apple tv is doing YET ANOTHER STUPID UPDATE SO I CANNOT WATCH IT ON APPLE, but I can’t watch on Amazon prime thru Roku without buying each episode at $2 each? Weird, & Who in their right mind is going to pay two dollars per episode when many shows are between 18 and 40 episodes each SEASON? If people had that kind of money they wouldn’t waste their time buying it at that price, they would go to the freaking DVD section and buy it instead because it would be a fraction of the cost!

It’s free to me, but it’s no longer easy access to the entire library of content, & it used to be‼️‼️‼️(***this is true on APPLE TV, at least in the app you can turn a switch to see only free to me, this in addition to the fact that OVER 50% of the stuff on the home screen isn’t in my PAID FOR prime membership, so I have to search through all the stuff that’s not included, to find the stuff that is available to me for free and IMBD is no longer easy access except for a small little list, y’all need to fix this if you want people to renew because they don’t want to spend the whole day searching through a bunch of stuff that’s not included trying to find the stuff that is‼️‼️‼️***THERE ARE MORE & MORE CHANNELS FOR FREE, (BUT I PAY FOR PRIME & AT THIS RATE I’M NOT SURE ITS WORTH IT). I’ve been a cord cutter longer than primes been around, I have more options than ever, stop trying so hard to get rid of the people who pay for prime TV, by hiding part of what we are paying for.

Amazon Prime Video Meh

Good:
Watched a couple of Chuck Norris movies from the 80s and some History channel and BBC docu-series I missed.

Neutral:
Why pay 8.99$ per moth when I have to rent the movie I want anyway? Seems cheaper to just rent it from Apple.

Bad:
1. Too many commercials, especially when trying to watch 2 or 3 (& more if I did) TV shows in a row. When watching a TV show or movie there is no way to close, skip or mute the commercials. There’s always a commercial when the app opens even with the 8.99$ per month prime subscription.

2. The AI or algo that recommends movies and TV is way off my taste. In fact, none of the older movies or movies even a few years old I’m interested in rewatching are available with prime, only for rent.

3. All the categories show the same 30-35 movies.

4. The Recently Added category is mostly older films, rarely any new movies or new releases.

5. Subtitles/CC is off on several TV shows and movies I’ve watched. One History Channel show I watched had the subs/CC for episode 3 playing during episode 2.

6. Navigation is sometimes unresponsive and when using the back button, pages refresh and home or main page always changes. So clicking back is pointless because you can’t go back, it produces the same result as clicking the home button, a refresh home/main page.

7. There’s an option to “manage account” in the app but clicking it just gives you instructions to visit Amazon’s website. So there’s no way to actually manage your account even with the 8.99$ per month.

8. App needs constant updating. Which is strange considering number 4.

9. There is no app support. Which would be fine if I wasn’t paying 8.99$ per month

10. Price is too high for what you get.

Amazon Prime Video tvOS version: No “X-ray” + meh design = disappointing first try

This review is specifically for the new Prime Video app on Apple TV. I’ve been waiting for a Prime Video app to come to Apple TV for years, and now that it’s finally arrived it’s a disappointment. I am very glad they’ve finally introduced an ATV app at all. And the fact that it’s searchable and shows up in Apple’s “TV” app is very much appreciated. But overall, it’s kind of a meh release.

First off, it’s missing “X-Ray”, the supercool information feature from the iPhone/iPad versions of the Prime Video app. X-ray is an absolutely killer feature and miles ahead of anything from Netflix, Hulu or HBO.

Secondly, it feels like they didn’t do ANY development at all to make this app look and feel like a tvOS app. Like they almost intentionally half-***ed it. It looks, feels and functions like it’s just a web app. The scrolling and “cursor” movement seem clunky, it’s kinda slow, doesn’t respond with sounds or animation when navigating the app, the thumbnails are really close to each other, the whole thing feels crammed/congested and it’s really not attractive or engaging to use. You’d think Amazon would have used the massive amount of time they took to deliver this app to actually make it feel like a quality, tvOS app.

What I’d specifically like to see in the next version of this app (and what would make me rate this app 5 stars):
- X-ray! This is a killer feature from the iPhone and iPad apps that would really be great on ATV.
- a less cluttered interface, with some separation between thumbnails, etc.
- smoother navigation via the ATV remote trackpad that is similar to the liveliness of the cursor/selection movement in other ATV apps
- add the sounds and other effects that happen during navigation and selection elsewhere in tvOS or in other ATV apps.

Amazon Prime Video Renting and a supper annoying part of the app

This app is so much fun. I really like when how now if I binge a show after or before every episode I get an ad for an amazon show and the best part is one of these ads ruined the twist or surprise for me for the show man in the high castle. I also really enjoy how when I binge I have to select skip the opening cause I guess it’s too hard to implement an auto skip like what Netflix does. Also as another fun bit of the app is seeing a category on the home screen scrolling thru it adding a show and then having the screen shoot up or down so I then have to refund the category and scroll thru it again then repeat if I add another show to my watch list and stuff like this makes me not want to watch stuff cause it’s such a chore and pain to find and add stuff. Also would like to mention the app is now crashing on me.

As an update now when watching a show all of a sudden it will randomly start the next episode no matter how far I’m in the episode I’m watching. So then I have to restart and fast forward till I find where I was. Stuff like this I would slightly understand for a much smaller company but for someone as large as amazon it’s pathetic. Save your money and stream with a much better service.

Really don’t like how I can’t rent movies from the app. A real pain to go to the full site on my phone or computer to rent it then go back to the app. I find it supper annoying to scroll thru a list find a movie I like and add to my list then exit the movie screen and the list gets reset so I have to scroll thru the list again. It annoying if I find multiple movies I want to add on to my list. It also happens when I take stuff off my wishlist. Who thought this was a good idea. All it does is limit me wanting to spend time on the app and spend my time elsewhere.

Amazon Prime Video Unbalanced, edited content

Amazon prime would be wise to stay out of tilting the content it carries politically.

Also why has access to older archival documentaries been cut off? Its rather intellectually condescending to selectively edit older ethnographical films.

Modern viewers are fully aware of the innate bias inherent in soft science/art: sociology, anthropology, culture, history, the interpretation of human behaviour in groups.

But bringing hypermodern political sensibilities to limit public access to early archival content robs us of raw data.

For example, I pay little attention to narrators, contemporary or early 20th century. One older film escaped your PC editor.
lo & behold, the footage unknowingly revealed retained skills & behaviour lost to current in viva anthropoly. I witnessed an adult, fully trained to hunt & survive wo access to metal- in firearms, stoves, metal tools, etc.

He trained his son in an amalgam of technologies. and I got brief glimpses in viva of peoples who retained & valued ancestral abilities. His son presented a marvel: a Stone Age hand axe expertly constructed from pre contact material

The footage also showed a hunter/father undertaking tasks that are unimaginable for contemporary peoples in the same habitat & , cultural .heritage. mindset and skills.

To purge these films because the PC crowd or ignorant viewers might feel abashed is condescending & encourages intolerance, adding to the historical ignorance prevalent in today’s globalised monotony & narrow minded intellectual milieu.

Contemporary chroniclers by intent, impose contextual interpretation, a doubling of sin, as it were, that doesn’t contaminate earlier generations.

Expand your access to the authentic early black & white films. We don’t need or want editors or hand holding narrators .

Amazon Prime Video Amazon Prime Purchases Aren’t All Included!?!

8/18/2022: Ok - this one is about the ‘Viewing’ of movies through Amazon Prime! I hate it. It’s antiquated - absolutely a bore to use. Why, everything about it - everything. Please get back to work if the functionality and this time please be innovative! If you don’t I am unable to purchase movies or TV shows from you. So this is how horrible your process is - I bought the Harry Potter movies for $59, and could not enjoy them to the point - I purchased the same 8 movies from iTunes because it was user friendly and just a pleasure to operate. I even rented a movie from iTunes that I could have seen for free in Amazon Prime - I refused and that’s just sad. You just lost two stars. If 1 star wasn’t required in order to send this review - it would have been zero stars. Get off your lazy butts and stop thinking you have something that works; because you do not!

3/2022: There is a difference using Amazon Prime in Streaming and How To Watch via Apple TV. What is that difference: Hulu Peacock Disney (+) HBO Max (which I don’t subscribe) BET (+) Paramount etc Amazon Prime includes purchased movies and TV shows in competition with Apple TV; which does not allow me to see all my purchased movies from Prime through ‘How To Watch’ that are included in Up Next. If the icon is present on the list of up next shows or movies and in competition with Apple such as Harry Potter 7 movies - even through you already own it through Prime - the Up Next list asks you to open in a different app such as (in the case) HBO MAX! Which requires a purchase!?!Why, I do not understand. Please help me understand or troubleshoot why this happens. So, today I would like to inform you that the reason I spend my money on Apple TV is the design of their app. Amazon Prime tried something different and it is not user friendly. I simply do not enjoy its function. It’s bumpy and awkward. Apple is 5 stars.

Amazon Prime Video Amazon prime streaming service

Your choice of shows to stream is pretty good. It’s right up there with Peacock Netflix and Hulu. Amazon‘s has very little if at all pre-streaming to view without buffing constantly sometimes 30 seconds apart. We all know how aggravating it is when your video buffs in the middle of watching something. I noticed that Netflix Hulu peacock universal streaming service have figured away to give you uninterrupted programming without buffering. You might not even notice this if you view your Amazon videos via Wi-Fi to download speeds are higher. If you have ever noticed Netflix videos take a while to start on your device. This is because unlike the other streaming service the Amazon people do not stream download ahead of broadcasting the video. If your provider has for example demonstrated it to you that 4G LTE has good streaming availability you should be able to stream your applications with streaming services. And that’s where the variability of download speeds affects Amazon prime. Normal or higher download speeds such as the ones that are provided by your Wi-Fi provider and the new 5G that’s available streams Amazon without any problems. Just don’t expect it to stream the video without buffing interruptions if you are in areas that have poor Netwerk speeds. The other providers such as Netflix calculates your download speeds in pre-loads enough ahead of any problems that would make buffering an issue. That’s my only problem. At home it’s perfect but I was surprised at our campsite that we couldn’t stream Amazon. All the other streaming services especially YouTube Netflix Hulu peacock universal are just fine no problems at all. Hopefully Amazon will get it all together and fix this problem. I spent a few days on this figuring this whole thing out so that maybe Amazon will see it maybe someone else has pointed it out to and if enough people voice their concerns they’ll do something about it.

As of late I noticed that the movies I usually watched are being charged now. I have other streaming service channels, so my question is why if I have all of these channels (Starz,MAX,HBO, PARAMOUNT+, AMC+, and SHOWTIME) should I still be charged? I'm not talking about new movies. Movies like Die Hard, Deadpool, What's eating Gilbert Grape

Why did you delete the category "Free to me"? You added the crappy "with adds" videos, without letting subscribers EASILY choose AD FREE videos. You're services is becoming less useful and more of a problem/unsubscribable service.
