One has to wonder how exactly someone could injure themselves in an office setting. Walking to the bathroom? Typing? The sheer weight of a single hearing aid straining your arm? I see very few ways an employee could hurt themselves, all of them preventable by said employee, and were they able to hurt themselves... maybe they shouldn't be working in such a high-paced environment like the hearing aid business. There are plenty of jobs that are less physically demanding. Like becoming a bingo announcer... or maybe the next Vanna White?

Here is another "Truth" about Willoughby hearing aid centers. The following example is fact and I am currently living the following story. They are out for themselves and themselves only. They have no regard for their employees health or well being, nor do they have any reagrd for their clientelle. They only look at how much money they can make off you.. which in most cases are elderly people.. They will try and sell you a hearing aid that is much more than one might need. Employees who have been injured while working for Willoughby are harassed and every attempt is made by them to prevent that injured worker from seeking proper medical treatment, and the employee is threatened with the loss of their job, if they seek that medical attention during business hours. Now, imagine how they view you... Do yourself a favor and find another business to purchase your hearing aids from.

Sincerely,

a concerned citizen

Note to the President... people complain. It's the nature of business. The internet makes this even easier to do. However, as an outsider reading the initial complaint followed by your reply; I am not impressed at the response. You would have been much better off had you only said the first two sentences in your final paragraph. There is a reason a company is in business for 60+ years. Allow that reputation to do the talking for you. Regardless of how great any company may be, you will always find at least one person/customer who does not agree with that reputation. However strong a company may be, seeing the President of that company airing out the dirty laundry of customers who may not have the ability to think before they speak, in regards to apparently poor choices in their language, isn't the best impression to use as a rebuttal.

Considering the complainants use of the words "violent" and "disturbed" when explaining his apparent experience with the company (however short the complaint was left as), there was no explanation regarding choosing the words "violent" or "disturbed" to explain the person they refer to. That tells me the complaint's author is likely to grab the first negative words they can think of to explain their dislike of something or someone, rather than taking the time to choose words that reflect what they actually mean a little bit better (and, not to mention, maybe taking the time to explain them!). I would assume most people that may actually use the words "violent" or "disturbed" to truly describe someone who fits that bill, that they would follow the complaint with a detailed explanation of the experience they had that lead them to believe this person to be either of those things. Considering I see none of that, it leads me to believe the statement is likely exaggerated somewhat, and they probably just had a poor experience with someone they could not or would not work well with. I doubt many would take a very short complaint above that lacks any real information or examples when referring to their experiences, and actually believe that is the way the entire company is run (especially one that has been around for more than 60 years). It really just seems like someone who mainly wanted to blow off some steam.

And, in all honesty - I would take more of a questionable opinion after reading the reply from the President of this company, than I would from the non-informative original complaint above it.

The poster of this complaint should disclose the facts. After immediately, investigating the complaint and interviewing witnesses about the circumstances surrounding it, I learned the following:
1. A relative of the Complainant, who has medicaid assistance, contacted our office requesting to get a hearing aid.
2. Our licensed dispenser, visited the relative on May 10th, tested their hearing, and took an ear impression to order a new hearing.
3. The patient, whom is very hard of hearing, was told that it could take 2 weeks - 2 months, to process the paperwork and order through the insurance processes. This is typically the case in most insurance claims.
4. Our office received the hearing aid from the lab on June 10th (one month after the date the order was placed).
5. Our dispenser learned that the patient was now in a care facility, and was going to deliver the hearing aid to them the very next day. The Complainant discovered that we'd received the hearing aid, and appears at our office to get the hearing aid themself.
6. The Complainant greeted our dispenser with "You are a M..F... Liar" and continued to berate him, as was witnessed by others in the office at the time.
7. The hearing aid was given to the Complainant, at protest by the Dispenser. Follow-up appointment was scheduled, but the Complainant was told that our company would no longer deal directly with them, and only deal with the patient.
8. The Complainant was used inappropriate language, used threatening, and intimidating body language, so much so, that our receptionist had her fingers on the telephone dial, ready to call 9-1-1.

Our company has been serving the hearing impaired in Oregon since 1949. We take that responsibility seriously, and our reputation in the communities we serve has long been highly regarded. Our company has the only A+ rating for Hearing Aids in Oregon by the Better Business Bureau. Any further discriminating, slanderous, or liable actions by this individual will be taken seriously and dealt with through appropriate channels.
