Vudu - Movies & TV Mediocrity compounded by incompetence

As a shining example of Vudu’s incompetence with “support by boilerplate script,” customer no-support instructed me to perform a speed test using their app — a function that does not exist in the iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV versions of the Vudu app. The alternative was to use a speed test found on the Vudu website that just so happens to require Adobe Flash and would not load in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge even with Flash enabled! Of course, the boiler plate response from customer no-support requested the same information already provided in the original support request.

What a bad joke!

I truly wish the App Store had some way to award a vendor zero stars…

Have used Vudu on and off for many years and it’s amazing for its mediocre consistency and abysmal (nonexistent?) customer support. Or, should I write, customer “no-support” that don’t respond to simple questions. I have waited over seven days for a response to my most recent question.

Viewing 4K movies on Apple TV 4K is yet another example of mediocrity with out-of-sync audio, video stuttering, and multiple “content unavailable” errors.

What a bad, bad joke of a so-called service that obviously hasn’t received sufficient funding or engineering to provide comparable quality to competitors.

Vudu - Movies & TV Movies Disappear

When I first got the My Little Pony: The Movie I redeemed it through Itunes because I was unsure of the UV library as my Batman Lego movie would not show up in Vudu as well. Well, to my surprise My Little Pony: The Movie did show up as I use Vudu as our main digital movie library.(I was able to get my Batman Lego movie to show up as well) Fast forward to a few months later I noticed (as my daughter wanted to watch it) MLP movie was not showing up in Vudu anymore. I have emailed Vudu (and Movies Anywhere) numerous times and I just get the same old computer generated response. Vudu stated that it depends on Movies Anywhere. Movies Anywhere library is linked to Itunes and Vudu accounts. The gist of it is that Movies Anywhere does not have the license to show movies by certain studios. Lionsgate being one of them. (BTW, Lionsgate did a horrible job with that movie but my kiddo loves it) Vudu has the movie now available for purchase. When my movie disappeared they did not have the movie avail for purchase. Still it does not show up in my library. It shows in my Amazon library though. All of these online digital movies services are a joke. Why did my movie disappear AFTER it showed in my library and we watched it via VUDU numerous times BEFORE they took out of my library? They're just all a complete joke...Oh, don't get me started on Movies Anywere...

Vudu - Movies & TV Would be great if it worked properly

I do love this app, but it has some glitches for sure. I prefer to buy my favorite old movies and watch them when I want to. I don’t want to rely on some streaming service that may or may not have some movies I want to watch this month. Vudu gives me that as an option. Onto the worst glitch right now involves movies you fully watched before constantly show back up in your “continue watching” list with 10 minutes left. Weird. My OCD won’t allow me to let them stay there, so I always have to resume the movie and fast forward to the end and then play for the last 3 or so seconds or whatever it forces me to play to get to the very end. So annoying. Plus, I don’t end up getting all of the receipt emails when I am binge buying. Which brings me to when purchasing multiple movies, you have to do so individually. There needs to be an “add to cart” option. It makes it harder to track which movies I have purchased to ensure that I actually did get them added to my library or not (since glitches do happen). Also, my credit card doesn’t like getting 50 separate charges of $5.99 or $12.99 or whatever. Again...super annoying. But overall I do enjoy watching movies which just so happens to be on this application. It doesn’t seem to buffer much either, which is a plus. Fix the glitch and I would give it 4 stars. Fix the shopping experience too and I would give it 5 stars.

Vudu - Movies & TV Vudu is a Must have!

I was born in the 80s and have always been a fan of TV n Movies. From VHS to DVDs if you love a film or heck even a TV show, your gonna end up buying it. As with everything theirs always a newer updated version that’s gonna mean your gonna have to buy that type? Well with Vudu you don’t ever have to buy any other type. Meaning when you buy it on VUDU then that’s it. You’ll always have it and will never lose it or have to buy it ever again. That’s HUGE ! You’ll always have it and can take it anywhere? I’ve got over 90 movies and prolly 10 different type of shows whichever season I want. I’ll never have to worry about loosing it or damaging it ever again? Once it’s bought on VuDu that’s it , I’ll always have it! You know how much of a relief it is to know that after I purchase anything on VUDU I’ll never have to buy it again. No matter how many new types come out I’ll always have it on Vudu. Whatever new kind of version don’t matter because I’ll always be able to watch it. Smart TVs are what’s always gonna be around so no matter what when it’s bought on VUDU I’ll always have it. After 5 years I’ve got over 100 titles and I’ll never have to buy them ever again. Plus the VUDU website always has other free movies for me to watch. I don’t even need cable ever again cuz as long as I have VUDU I’ll always have something to watch! Vudu is a must it really is..!

Vudu - Movies & TV How to destroy a service and app

After playing around with the newest version of the app I can say without a doubt this is one of the worst updates ever on an app that used to be one of the best. Since they were bought out years ago this company has been one of the most mismanaged and self sabotaging services available. The new app is not only confusing at times but once you figure out where you are going it is bugged with so much lag and or random misreading things as swipes or clicks it is hard to get where you are going. It also seems to want to log you out of the app every couple of days. This on top of the fact that there are thousands of us who cannot even get our movies redeemed through the service to the correct provider make it difficult to believe they know what they are doing. And good luck with any support, there is none. Between my friends, family and myself we must have over 150 “tickets” still waiting for any sign of help with the app over the past couple of years. And I myself have contacted them numerous times about over 80 movies that either did not go to the right provider (Ultraviolet or Movies Anywhere) or did not go to any provider period and only show up in Vudu. There are only so many times you can send them your device data or pictures of the digital copy slips before you get fed up. Current record is 25 pictures of a dc slip for a movie they never did fix and send to the provider.

Vudu - Movies & TV You cannot rent movies and download on IOS!

I have been using VUDU for years without any problems. I do like it but, my latest experience was very frustrating and I will likely use another service in the future.

I rented an SD version of a movie as I was going on a trip and wanted to watch it on the plane. I tried to download it but, got an error. I tried several times. Tried again after arriving at my destination and had same problem. After getting home I searched the internet and found that the problem had been reported early in the year and VUDU had reported that they were working on a fix with Apple. Well that was over 6 months before my problem. Now I had the SD version rented and didn’t want to watch it on my tv, I would have rented the HD version for that. I emailed VUDU and didn’t get any response for 3 days. I gave up and tried calling them. After waiting on hold I finally got someone in a call center, likely outside of the US. I asked if they could just upgrade to HD and they said they couldn’t do that and just gave me my money back. It was very frustrating. This is something that should have been fixed by now. If they aren’t going to fix it, they should warn you when you rent from your IOS device that you won’t be able to download your purchase for offline viewing. That would be the right thing to do.

Don’t rent anything from VUDU if you want to download and watch offline on your phone or iPad, it doesn’t work.

Vudu - Movies & TV Reset password

I’m trying to spend movie on your site. But suddenly my saved password that worked fine up until 3 days ago is incorrect. I clicked the reset password link and am still waiting on a reset email. I also emailed customer support about it. Still waiting for a response from them.

It would also be great if you could filter only the movies that work with iTunes videos. I hate buying a movie by accident because I didn’t “see” the icon that tells me it’s compatible. The users shouldn’t have to look for something that isn’t there before they buy.
You customers should feel confident and comfortable while shopping in your store.
Or while using the disc-to-digital. Which is an awesome concept. BUT - it only works for certain movies. And if it does, even though the disc you want to convert is on iTunes and Vudu is telling you it is convertible. If that tiny MoviesAnywhere icon is missing then it is not compatible with iTunes. Even tho that movie is on iTunes. It more frustrating then it should be. Yes. I know I can access that movie via another app. But I live in a house where people get confused really quickly and have adapted to browsing and watching in a particular app. Having them switch apps just to watch a handful of other movies isn’t worth it. I know it’s a 1st world problem, but this service is a 1st world product and it should know it’s customer.

It’s easier to just buy straight from iTunes. Even if it cost more.

If I could rate this company a 0 stars I would. The actual app is pretty decent never had many problems with it until this week. My family pre-ordered a movie digitally and an actual copy that was suppose to be here on the 15th. We waited expectantly for this disc that was suppose to be here so we called costumer service and talked to someone, they said they’d give us a refund so we took it because at this point we just wanted our money back after talking on the phone for 30 minutes. The money never came. So a few days later we called back talked to someone who was an idiot (excuse my rudeness) when we asked to speak to the supervisor she said that she doesn’t have one on hand she would have to email them. She was very rude and nasty basically told us there was nothing she could do. We hung up with her then a minute later called back. Talked to someone else. They got the refund to come through. After a week of just holding our money hostage with no movie. You would think after a week of trying to get through to this company they would give us our money back and try to get back in our good grace. We log onto Vudu to find the video was no longer there. Which is fine because we did ask for a refund. But after such terrible service you’d think a $20 movie wouldn’t kill a million dollar company. This company has lost my respect and I would not recommend this app to anyone unless you like to be stolen from and ripped off. What I would recommend is hire some better employees.

Vudu - Movies & TV Good, could be great

I have approx 500 movies on Vudu. If the app and service was not good, that number would be much, much smaller. So don’t read into these issues as deal breakers but there is a lot of room for improvement.

1. Filtering movies does not perform as expected. For example, I filtered by decade (80’s) trying to locate N.L. Vacation. The movie bundle it was a part of did not show up, presumably because the bundle was digital and grouped everything together sometime “recently.” Another example, I filtered for Comedies and things like John Wick and Harry Potter show up; not quite what I was expecting. I want the filters to hide stuff so I can find stuff that interests me, not to keep displaying 25% of the unrelated movies.

2. You are unable to make purchases from the app, unless it is for a hard copy disk. I suspect this is an issue Apple has with the competition. Still it is a bit annoying to have to use the browser to purchase/redeem movies.

3. The largest shortfall of the app is the inability to organize the movies, or even perform a search currently owned movies; all searches search their whole database. Let me place movies into some structure of my choosing by either folders or better yet tags that I create. The guys developing this stuff are exposed to database querying, development lifestyle tools, and web service technologies that all have some good concepts to pull from. Instead, there is basically just one folder with hundreds of movies I own that I have to scroll through to find what I want.

Vudu - Movies & TV Do not invest!

As the title says, it’s not worth it. 1) They removed the pc offline client. 2) Suddenly I can’t login to my accounts. On an old iPhone XR I can login. On my new phone and on pc I can’t login using the EXACT same login and pass. tested multiple times and on multiple devices. I even logged out of the XR and logged back in and it worked just fine. Not on my pc though where I currently need to login. Doesn’t work! These companies care nothing about your access, they only make it easy to buy their high quality “stuff” so they can lock you out at some other point. I’m currently waiting over ten minutes for a password reset email. Yep still waiting…. Who’d have thought dvds would outdo streaming? We’ll Vudu has made this possible. I sincerely regret investing money into this movie collection that is so hard to get access to. And I care nothing for the app creators response. While I’m here I’d add it’s nice to give these smaller companies business to get away from the monopolies that run all of our technology but at least the fruit company doesn’t block me from downloading offline or you know just basically logging in to my account. No more purchases will be spent on Vudu that’s for certain! Good luck and reconsider long term investments into a company that gives no basic access to the items YOU BUY from THEM. Update: Also now they don’t allow a vpn. Update: And also now, I am being told that I cannot use my current browser (Firefox) to stream from their website. Seriously HOW MANY ISSUES CAN YOU COME UP WITH. Trash. NOT USER FRIENDLY.

Vudu - Movies & TV I was actually confused until

I was actually confused as to why the rating was so low on the app... That was until I opened it myself. Oh no, that's not the bad part. Seemingly it looks like Vudu...(it Should). Shows you titles, free selection, popular, so on and so on. The catch is wanting to get/purchase a new movie. "How do I watch this?" In place of where the normal purchase tabs would be. "Vudu content cannot be purchased in app". What? Wait... Huh? Well ok, guess I'll watch my already owned movies. YEP! Right here on my iPad mini because there's No AirPlay support/functionality...? Seriously? 2 stars because I guess it's still good for those 'on the go' needs. Get it together, Vudu.

Update to 1 star*** (so maybe Down-date?)
Anyways, so I'm in my email, of course I come across my normal Vudu emails I receive. Skimming through it to see "what's new". Oh wow, what's this? Disc to Digital? On nice, now I can really have all my movies 'on the go'. Especially the ones I've purchased from Walmart. Now mind you, after my last review on the app, I deleted it. Long story short, download, see new use in it. "Convert your first disc for free". Waaaaaait, free? Like I have to pay to convert movies I already have? This is already starting off bad. But I keep going to see how well this works. 1st disc, not able to convert. Mind you, it's still sealed in Walmart plastic. 2nd, disc not... 3rd, disc not... Get to a disc that Actually works, and(?!) "Your location does not match your billing address." You must be at your billing address to convert... Like... Just.. No.

Vudu - Movies & TV Great, but lots of potential

Listen, I love Vudu. Just want to establish that. I’ve been using Vudu for my primary digital move collection for around 5 years now and I love it! It’s so easy to collect and buy movies and the fact that I can access hundreds of movies I love wherever I go is such a great thing. Also their collection of free movies is a great feature.

I just have a couple small issues. The user interface is very basic and not very smooth. It gets the job done but when compared to movies anywhere(which I like but have way more issues with, the ui not being one of them) especially, it seems very blocky and basic. Just so much wasted potential. Also the fact that there is no in-app purchasing capabilities is kind of annoying sometimes but I understand why and overall I don’t really mind. Lastly, my biggest issue. There is absolutely no customization when it comes to sorting my movie collection. I have a lot of movies on Vudu and there is only 3 ways to sort them. A-Z, purchase date, and release date. I really wish I could set them up like have all my Star Wars movies in one place and my back to the future movies together somewhere else. Like I can with my dvds.

To fix this I would allow users to be able to make there more than 3 in a row(a setting where you can choose between 3,4, or 5 titles in a row with 5 being the maximum). And then create complete customization on the order of the movies where they set up. I feel like there’s a lot of potential here and it wouldn’t take that much work for them to program it in and send out an update

Overall, the app is great and easy to use but there’s just so much untapped potential. Vudu, if you’re listening, keep up the great work!

Vudu - Movies & TV VUDU IS KING

This by far is one of the greatest service available BUT I have just a few issues that lead me to give it 3 stars when it deserves 5. I had vudu for quite some time now I discovered it when I purchased my LG tv for my living room and when upgrading my tv in the bedroom it was a must have app on the Sony tv for me to purchase. I love how you can have your full library at your fingertips. ONE HUGE CONCERN for me is the vudu app on Apple TV for some reason all of my movies do not show up and some movie titles show up twice. I have purchased over 200 movies and on the Apple TV app maybe 150 show up (I hope they fix this. The vudu app on the tv works to perfection ... another issue I have is I can’t rent movies on the Apple TV app nor can I purchase, I have to go into the tv app to do those features hope they add this soon to the Apple TV app ... another great addition is if you own the dvd and want to add it to your digital library YOU CAN I have just recently found this out and I could’ve saved hundreds of dollars on movies I already purchased ... you scan the bar code of the dvd and for a small fee you can add it to your library (such a great feature helps clear the dvd clutter) only issue is, and maybe I never seen it but they could promote that so ppl can take advantage of the feature more ... and my last issue is I purchased the Heat movie twice, not realizing I already owned that movie .. it’s literally sitting in my library twice even tho it might be a directors cut or a special addition vudu should warn you that you already own the title ... other than that I love this app I use it every week and it shows free movies with ads and you don’t need a subscription like hulu! Hulu charges a subscription and still have ads what a rip off... VUDU IS KING!

Vudu - Movies & TV HATE HATE VUDU!

READ THIS REVIEW, please save yourself some hassle!

This app is worthless
anyways, but VUDU has become nothing but a waste of money and time. I think they do this on purpose, please read on before you purchase their movies. You pay a set fee to rent a movie, but you get the rental for 48 hours after you start the movie, but it literally takes double the movie time to actually get it to play. It's constantly buffering then the error crap shows up. It's like to watch a 1 and 1/2 hour movie it takes 3, constantly all the [protected]@# time. Makes me mad! I've tried every single thing I read online to try to fix it, and I even called my internet provider. But none of my other movie apps do this at all! Not even crackle or tubi tv. I thought VUDU was going to awesome with the early releases and all the good movies, I don't mind paying for any of the movies, but it's literally like throwing my money down the toilet. So far I believe I at least lost $45 on movies that I can't watch, rentals or the ones I own. So if you like to flush your money down the commode then this service is perfect for you. This should be called DUDU, not VUDU. I'm sure that's why they do 48 hour rentals since they know it's going to do this to people and they are going to put it off til the next day and it will happen again, then you have to buy the rental again cause your 48 hours are up. I also have learned that I'm not the only one with the problem, I'm learning that it's a big issue. I will be in the process of getting each and every since penny I spent on these movies back. It's not right, it's no different than fraud. Oh also, you won't get any help from any VUDU sources, weather it be calling or using their support on their website. This review is long, I know, but it's important to get it out there. I don't feel they should be in business anymore.

Vudu - Movies & TV Black screen

As I see many broken hearts and souls wandering lost , anxious , bitter , and alone . I wonder what is this disgusting new black box sucking in and holding tight to our eyes and ears desires to be filled with our purchased products ? Why is there no response from our ransom captors throwing out their demands for us to fulfill to receive what we were promised upon joining this hootenanny of a gloppy mess thrown down before us to slip on like a banana thrown out of a car window landing on the road to the terror of cars flipping as they hit the trap laid out by VUDU and his terrible heart of destruction . I have become reviled and stuck with a nasty taste in my mouth as I should not have licked that banana off of the road and left it for the wild animals. You wander out here alone a dramatically teetering between madness and vertigo with a little dandruff. I hold on to vudu and throw away my voodoo doll calling for vengeance upon the mighty monsters holding our nose by a ring tightly placed ,leading us to try and access our hearts desires to watch a movie to place a fezz upon our heads and straighten our bow ties ( because bow ties are cool ) we gloss over our eyes cursing our captors who are maniacal harmful and without feelings to fix this issue .
I will not pick up my satchel or tear off my flip flops but will march on stronger becoming the nightmare of strawberry shortcake . You have become a pain to us and why do we want more pain ? I do not play with hammers tied to my hands and put nails in my boots , I do not tie my hands behind my back while having a cheesecake hanging just out of reach from my mouth … why do you think your app is any more important? Fix it and that comes from the highest authority I know right next to me my favorite sock puppet. Become more VUDU, become stronger and fight for the power of the moon cause Saturn is too powerful for you .

Vudu - Movies & TV Could go from good to great with a few tweaks

Overall, I love this app. I buy most of my UV movies through VUDU, and therefore, I can access 99% of my entire digital collection through the app. Flixster no longer allows streaming, and the new (supposed-to-be-great) Movies Anywhere app doesn’t work with all movie studios, so the VUDU app ends up being my go-to place to watch my movies.

However, there are a few things that could be improved:

1) It is ridiculously difficult to rewind or fast-forward the movie you’re watching. There are no 10-15 second skip buttons like almost every other streaming app has. You’re stuck with a less-than-precise slider that will frustrate you as you try to navigate to your desired place. I’m not sure why an app that allows you to change the volume by sliding your finger up and down wouldn’t also have a smooth and simple way to skip forward or back a few seconds while watching.

2) You can’t directly search your library for movies within bundles. One of the things I love about the VUDU service is their affordable movie bundles. However, trying to search for a movie in a purchased bundle using the library search feature is difficult. You have to either type in the word “bundle” to bring up all your bundles or type in the name of the actual collection that contains the movie (which you may not remember, depending on the size of your library and how long ago you purchased the bundle). For instance, if I want to watch Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs or Kill Bill, I have to start typing in “Tarantino 6-Film Collection,” since I happened to buy those movies as part of a Quentin Tarantino bundle.

3) VUDU’s customer support team is sloooooow. When I have an issue and reach out to them, it can take days for even an initial response.

Is VUDU perfect? Absolutely not. Is it a good app and service? I think so. Hopefully VUDU will take note of the problems I mentioned and make some improvements.

Vudu - Movies & TV Needs a lot of work! (Updated 8/6/22)

Variety of problems such as… 1️⃣Unpredictable subtitles, such as not being on-key at all with the dialogue. And also a lack of subtitles entirely from trailers. 2️⃣Inaccurate info sync, like what I have or haven’t finished watching, like in the watch list. This goes from movies/shows claiming I’ve only seen like half (for example), when in reality I’ve already finished it—and selecting the “I’ve already watched it” option doesn’t seem to do anything, it eventually comes back anyway. Also, there are movies/shows that I haven’t finished watching that don’t appear on the watch list. As well as the info for episodes of what I have, haven’t, or if I’m currently in the middle of…particularly when scrolling through them—not properly synced at all…I’m talking about finishing an episode but it appears to show that I haven’t yet finished that episode (like I’m only in the middle of it) in the line of episodes for a series. Very confusing, making me have to remember what I’ve watched instead of it saving all that info for me…LIKE IT’S SUPPOSED TO. 3️⃣On the TV app especially—button input noises can be problematic (especially when you’re in the middle of a marathon and the TV volume is nearly 100 and trying to select the next movie—LOUD AND ANNOYING)…and there’s no way to turn them off within the TV app…please add that as a feature, or just remove it entirely, other entertainment streaming services TV apps don’t have button input noises and nobody’s complaining on that. 4️⃣Plus, for some random episodes of shows (such as “Spider-Man: The Animated Series” 1994 animated show & “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” 1987 animated show & many more), the thumbnails (picture of a frame of the episode) are missing, as well as incorrect/inaccurate titles of episodes. ❗️And all these issues pretty much apply to not just iOS versions, but all other available versions in general (like Android related) as well.

Vudu - Movies & TV Ridiculous App (And Customer Service)

The app is pointless. You CANNOT see the prices of the movies & TV Shows that you’d like to rent and/or buy in the app; you have to go to Vudu’s website to actually see the prices of any movies or TV Shows that you’re interested in renting and/or buying. AND you CANNOT actually rent and/or buy ANY movies and/or TV shows through their app either; you also have to go to their website to do that. So honestly, what’s the purpose of the app? A video catalog with incomplete information?! The ONLY things that you can do in the app are browse for movies and TV shows, add movies & TV shows to your watchlists, and watch any movies and/or TV Shows that you’ve previously rented, or bought…through their website! I don’t know about you guys, but anytime that I rent or buy a movie, I’m going to watch it on my TV, not try to peer at a movie and/or TV Show on my phone through an app. And when I’m traveling, yes, I’ll obviously watch movies & TV Shows on my phone then, but I’ve downloaded the movies & TV Shows to my phone in advance (just in case poor connection or busy connection in flight, etc.). Also their whole merger with Fandango is HORRIBLE! One doesn’t know what the other is doing! I’ve earned some rewards and was emailed my specific promotion codes along with instructions on how to redeem my promotions and apply them to my account…and guess what…Vudu’s ‘Promo Code Center’ website doesn’t recognize THEIR OWN individualized promotion codes! I called customer service, and I was told by the CSR that I spoke with that he sees my two account credits, and even though I couldn’t seem to get them to apply correctly, and I, myself, personally could not see any of my account credits on my account, I was assured that when I go to check-out after renting and/or buying that my promotional rewards account credits will be there. Anyone want to guess whether or not that actually happened?! ‍♀️

Vudu - Movies & TV Value, Selection, Lists, and History

I just want to show my support for this phenomenal service. What sets VUDU apart is great deals and bundles, lists to organize your collection and the best digital special features available, second only to Apple Movies, and its history as a backbone of online Digital Ownership (DO). They also offer some of the best value and selection for UHD (1080p) and 4K. VUDU has everything you could want including rentals from theatrical to new releases to the deepest legitimate obscure and classics selection online of movies and TV seasons. Pretty much, if it is on Blu Ray or DVD, it is also here. Also, VUDU is a case where the mobile, Roku, and desktop website experiences are each fully featured, so you can truly take your collection anywhere.

Now, about my history with the product. Back in 2015 when I started, companies offering DO were different. Back then, Ultraviolet (now defunct) promised to save your library in case any of these services went out of business, because consumers expect a lifetime license. Suspect of a pioneering industry, I invested in (purchased movies on) VUDU for my exclusives and most important titles. That paid off big time, as its main rival at the time, Best Buy Cinema Now, went under.

Now that Fandango has purchased VUDU, I can only hope Fandango will continue its legacy because VUDU still has unmatched value, special features, lists, and history. However, I would also appreciate if they would allow VUDU and Fandango Now accounts to link so VUDU customers can fully experience the sister app. Also, I will admit the word Fandango has more positive connotations with the general public than VUDU.

If you haven't tried digital ownership, there are a lot of values under $5 and TV seasons under $10 to give it a shot. Just imagine always being able to go back and watch your favorites in HD anytime without charge and with no ads. I never thought I would need anything other than Netflix, but now that I have amassed over 100 movies and 30 TV seasons, I find myself digging into my VUDU library so much, I can cancel my Netflix subscription for months at a time. That is because it is what I want to watch, not what is on or in a limited collection. Watch on !

Vudu - Movies & TV A few changes would make it great

Giving two stars because I like most everything about the app. I love having my movies in one place, and I love the disc-to-digital feature. The app has been overall, pretty user-friendly. A few simple changes that would change my rating to five stars:

The biggest issue I have is with the lack of ability to hide certain types of movies or even specific movies. I’m an adult and have been one for a long time, but that doesn’t mean that I want to see extremely violent and sexually explicit movie covers all over the place when I’m browsing and trying to find a movie. It’s especially uncomfortable when we have family or friends with us watching on our big screen TV and I pull up the app to watch a movie on Vudu and most of the movies that pop up are XXX or disturbingly violent images. I get that you’re going for an extensive collection, but it’s a pretty basic idea to not be constantly trying to force-feed everyone movies from genres that aren’t even close to being movies they’d be interested in, especially genres that many people find offensive or, at the bare minimum, aren’t necessarily wanting to advertise to their children, young niece, parents or grandparents. The worst part is that there’s no way of avoiding it. Would love it if I could make My Movies, my Watchlist or my Wishlist the homescreen instead.

The other changes are along the same lines: presenting movies to us that we actually want to buy, rent or watch.

I would love to be able to rate, or at the very minimum, to mark a movie as a movie that I like or don’t like on whatever device I’m on.

I would also love to be able to filter movies based on different criteria. Rather than the date I added the movie to my collection or the year it was released, or what other users think about them, it would be perfect to search or filter my own movies or movies I would like to buy or rent based on criteria like the MPAA rating, my own rating of how much I like the movie, how recently I’ve watched the movie, which movies are trending, or which movies have stood the test of time (movies released many years ago that are still watched often by lots of people) or classics. I would also like to see a search feature that includes or excludes films based on their target audience. For instance, to turn on or off movies with kids as their target audience, or to turn on or off films that have adults as their target audience.

It is ridiculous that all I get is OxC7 error code, yes, I have the newest, updated, most recent app available. And I should have the option of downloading to any device not just your app. I am adding to this after the most ridiculous and stupid [censored]ic response from the “Uneducated,” Devs, who apparently can not read. Vudu - Movies & TV No more disc to digital and can’t pay in app

Last month I loved this app and would have easily given it 4 stars. Now you cannot convert discs to digital in the app and you’re meant to use the web browser. The problem is, the option does not load in the browser (even with location services on). This completely ruins the app and accessibility for me.

One of the more frustrating parts of this app has been that you can’t purchase through it. I don’t understand why, and when you purchase through a web browser theres no “add to cart” option and you end up seeing multiple postings on your credit card bill. I would appreciate a single payment option too.

Vudu - Movies & TV Major problems with this version

When you go to “popular rentals”, only a few of the titles have the rental tag above them. When you select any of the “popular rental” movies, there is no way to actually rent them via the app. It simply says you cannot purchase the movie with the app. OK, so what is the point of the app if I can’t rent a movie? Do I seriously have to go to the website to rent it and then go back to the app to play it?

Also, we have a Samsung 75 inch TV and the VUDU app is the worst. It frequently shows nothing when you go to different rental categories, and when you select a movie, it won’t show any details about the movie so you can rent it.

It was fine until they released an update not allowing IOS users to use Disc to Digital. Might as well delete the app. I used it exclusively for D2D conversions.

EDIT: I got a comment from the developer to check out the D2D on their website. I found that a few weeks ago and that’s a joke. You have to hold your phone and the movie completely still while making sure the UPC code doesn’t have glare or is too dark and you usually have to try to capture the code 3 times before the website gets it.
This has nothing to do with the app losing the easy to use D2D feature. Thanks but no thanks.

This has to be one the most underdeveloped apps I’ve ever used for video/film viewing.

Unable to drag the progress meter to specific times in a movie

Unable to restart the movie from the beginning, even after the movie has be watched completely, and yes I mean completely, even after ever single last line of credits.

If someone got drunk and watch their friend code a movie app, but didn’t know how to code themselves. That person then got drunk again a year later a described what they wanted in a movie app to a drunk 5 year old who didn’t speak the same language. Then that drunk 5 year old built the app in 10 minutes. This would be that app.

Vudu - Movies & TV Credit disappeared

Received a $20 dollar credit after I bought a Samsung TV and only rented 2 movies. The first was only $1 since it was my first rental and the second was only $4 dollars since it was an older movie. Was going to rent another movie and somehow my account has $0 on it and there is no history of the movies I rented. To steal the credits you gave me back is sad. Will not be using this app anymore.

They had my contact customer service to tell me my credit expired. So you all gave my a free credit but determined how long I had to use it without telling me I had a time limit. Only movie app to give me a time limit on a credit. Fandango is better anyway.

Vudu - Movies & TV Can’t download for offline play anymore

This app used to work well. However, if you happen to rent a movie, you can’t download it anymore. If you try, you just get a pop up which says they are rebuilding their download library. Whatever that means. I rented a movie and now can only stream it. I would say you can use this app as long as you don’t plan on being on an airplane and you can ONLY stream with it. A better question: Why would you use this app when EVERY other movie app allows for downloads? Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. Even Showtime allows you to download. There are tons of streaming only apps (which this is right now), why would you bother with this one? Vudu is like any other Walmart service - terrible.

Why can’t you purchase on the app? If you really want your app and software to succeed, you’re definitely going to want to modernize with the “times”. In app movie and show purchases. As well as some how making you’re offline viewing better. I believe Vudu has a chance to sky rocket into the future WITHOUT being the most expensive streaming service. Also I’d like to see more classic tv shows like Green Acres, The Munsters, Andy Griffith, and Gomer Pyle USMC. Please consider updating and providing.
And for the record I’m in my twenties.
You could be the next Netflix.
Creating you’re own “originals”. But please still provide some classic tv shows as listed above and more.

Vudu - Movies & TV Downloading rentals does not work using this version on an iPad running iOS 11.3.1

I look up “can I download vudu rentals and view offline?” on Google which led to a number of forums talking how the app has had this feature since 2016. I rent a movie, hit the download button, and get an alert box stating something along the lines of “Download unavailable — We're rebuilding rental downloads and have temporarily disabled this feature.”

Money back, please! Also, put a dang banner on all rental pages, or throw an alert that the user has to accept/hit ‘yes’/hit ‘ok’ after it informs them rental downloads aren’t available. Ridiculous for an app that’s been around this long to have such a poor user experience because the devs decided to up and turn off an entire feature.

I’m super upset! I paid 6 bucks last night to watch “a quiet place” (btw was super excited about) I hit play to watch it & it kept telling me “network error please try again later” , well I tried again later & yup you guessed it still wasn’t working! my internet was working just fine, I even checked it to make sure! My Netflix had no problem loading & playing movies. I’m very disappointed, I will not ever rent movies from here again until they fix this PROBLEM! Why you ask? Because I will not risk wasting 6 bucks again. I’d really like my money back. I could of just went to Redbox & saved money. Next time I know. Hmm & it seems that many others have had this happen to them as well, looks like I’m not the only one who’s experienced this.

Vudu - Movies & TV Won’t keep me logged in!

I used to love this app! I would have given it 5 Stars no question. But within the last month it has been logging me out daily or saying that my device has been deactivated! This causes me to lose downloaded content I use for my toddler to watch in the car. Which then causes me to either listen to a distracting tantrum while I drive or use all my cellular data to try and download a movie again! I never used to have this problem! I’m certainly not deactivating my device and only I have the password to my account. It has to be a bug in one of their latest updates, but calling the customer support line got me nowhere! Vudu, if you are reading this please create a way to stay logged in to the app! Help keep this already frazzled mom safe on the road!

Vudu - Movies & TV Disappointed

This app has always been a big hit with my 6 year old, she can navigate it well and can view her movies offline when we take road trips..that was until a couple weeks ago when all her 20+ downloaded movies disappeared. Now we get a ‘Network Error’ I’ve emailed support, and I’ve called Support. First Lady i talked to was super friendly, instructed me to delete app, reboot, reinstall.. all of which i had done before calling support. She took my info and sent it up to someone higher up in the technical support saying they would be in contact, just so you know they never got into contact and we STILL can’t download movies offline. I’d give the customer service rep i talked to 5 stars because she actually TRIED to help and her customer service was great, but VUDU as a whole, i wish i could give negative stars.

Vudu - Movies & TV Can't download my movies

I don't know why but I can't download any of my movies on here anymore. When ever I do try it says "Network Problem: There's a problem with the network. Check your settings and try again." Which I thought that I had to check either something in the apps settings but there was nothing there to me that could help the problem and I have good internet so I didn't know what else I could do. I know I have an iPod that's updated to the iOS 9.3.5, but on there it says too update to iOS 10 or better so with my iPhone I have it is already updated to iOS 10.3.3, but still I can't even download on this device any of my movies. Hopefully this can get fix soon and those that maybe experiencing this problem as well. I know I can still watch my movies on my iPod and iPhone in any SD or HDX but I just can't download any of my movies.

Vudu - Movies & TV Good Service, Poorly Designed App

The VUDU app for iPad could be great were it not for the issues with the download feature, and the inability to make purchases. Some of the movies I downloaded have playback errors, freezing up in the same spot every time. If I skip past the freeze spot it plays for a few seconds, then gives me an error message. Want to delete the glitchy movies and try reloading them, but the current version of this app (on 11/26) is missing that all important “Manage Download” feature. If there is a way to delete downloads you have it very well hidden. Not happy at all, because I can’t watch all of the movies I paid for.

Would also like to reiterate the point others have repeatedly made about needing the ability to purchase movies through the app. This is a no-brainer.

Will be happy to improve my rating when these issues are squared away.

Vudu - Movies & TV Does it ever work?!? Nope

Of all the streaming apps on my Samsung smart tv, this is the only one that will NEVER work. It worked for about a week, I watched, I think, one “free movie”. In anticipation of Halloween I bought The Exorcist: Director’s Cut in HD. It was on sale for $7.99. A steal for an HD movie I love but have never owned. It was a steal all right. I bought my movie and can’t watch it...or anything else on VUDU. I have a strong, fast wi-fi, 2 iPads, 2 iPhones, a Mac Air, a Macbook Pro, 2 Samsung smart tv’s and all the other streaming apps work great. VUDU is the ONLY app that will not connect...on ANY device. I have to date bought about a dozen videos on Amazon’s streaming (not a Prime member though) and they work flawlessly. I should have known better, this is after all, Wal Mart. They’re so lousy they hide behind other company names like VUDU and Jet.com. STICK WITH AMAZON!

I LOVE the fact I can put all my movies on a app that allows me to watch them all in the same place. However, I CANNOT purchase anything from them directly which is a pain in my butt. I’ve called and was told someone “higher up” would call me back but still nothing. Super frustrating

Which bumped my 2 starts to 1. First off that should be stated on their website and on the app! Since most of the comments I read had the same problem. And SECOND, your staff should know that instead of saying they don’t know why and someone higher up will contact me! Which no one ever did. I had to leave a negative comment for someone to reach me. Fix your contract will apple since half the world has iOS.

Vudu - Movies & TV Parental controls turn off every time you sign out!

If you log out of the vudu acct the parental controls automatically TURN OFF. If you have multiple devices that access your single vudu acct, the parental controls will not work on ANY of the devices. You have to go on every single separate device and set the devices. Kids and teenagers can get past the faulty parental controls by simply signing out of the vudu and signing back in to the vudu and then purchase any movie they want. Why would paternal controls turn off every single time you log out of the app?!? The app makes you put in your password to sign in, then put your password in again to turn on the parental controls, but just signing out turns it off. So, literally every single time you sign into the app you have to go to the paternal controls and put your password in AGAIN to turn it on. You have to do this separately for every single device that accesses your vudu, every single time you sign back in. Irritating and completely useless! If I could give a negative star score, I would!

Vudu - Movies & TV No customer care

The first time I dealt with a negative experience on vudu I had great customer service and problem was resolved instantly. Since then I have dealt with charges on cards that were no longer on my account and a random movie being sent to me in the mail in place of the one I actually ordered. I’ve yet to receive the right one and the charge was reversed to the wrong card. Recently my kids got a new tv from their grandma in their room and I didn’t set up the parental control again as it doesn’t apply to your account it only applies per device. My five year old managed to get ahold of the remote and bought 13 movies in one night. None were watched for longer than a minute and is blatantly obvious to see what happened. I received attitude from customer “care” and basically a “you should read the terms of service” we are keeping your money. The last two encounters I have had with this company have been widely disgusting. I have never been more disturbed with the service I have received from a company.
