Having received yet another pro-forma style response from Vinted UK's legal team stating that their original decision to permanently block me is withheld I am furious. I certainly do not ever wish to use Vinted again but am determined that I will receive an apology for their ludicrous, somewhat libelous accusation.

This is a copy of my most recent email. I await a response. Thankyou.

Dear Sirs,

I am writing to you to express my frustration and, to be totally honest, anger at being accused by Vinted of committing fraudulent activity on the Vinted UK site.

I was contacted about six weeks ago, approximately two weeks after my daughter during a visit home, encouraged me to open a Vinted account to sell some of the clothes I was planning to send to a charity shop. She talked me through opening an accoount and to my great surprise and delight I sold three items very quickly. I have to point out as well that on each occasion I got a glowing reference from the purchasers.

I then received the first email accusing me of fraudulent sales - no explanation of what exactly I was being accused of. I felt this was a libelous and unfair accusation which I had no recourse to object to as I did not know what my apparently fraudulent misdemeanour was. All three items were advertised honestly and truthfully and clear photos were attached , all were in excellent condition and nobody made any claim that the goods were defective or damaged in any way.

I feel I have been extremely badly treated and am not happy to just let this go. I am a 65 year old teacher, approaching retirement, who has NEVER put a foot wrong and could not and would not commit a fraudulent act. I think this is a real miscarriage of justice and would like this matter looked into by someone other than the customer service representatives who appear to have completely dismissed all my explanatory emails. I am not at all computer savvy but did suggest that maybe someone had hacked into my account? Whatever has happened, I can categorically state that I at no point made any illegal or fraudulent claims or actions.

The only thing I can think of that may have caused any confusion, which I have already explained, is that when my daughter opened my account the section requesting my date of birth appeared to be locked in some way so that I could enter the date and month but it was impossible to move the year of birth to 1958 - even my daughter couldn't manage it so I proceeded with the incorrect year of birth. The next time I logged in I went to my profile page to amend this to the correct year and was then able to do this without any problem.

Also, looking back on my emails there was one on 6th October stating that someone had attempted to change my IBAN (I don't know what an IBAN is?) I was asked to enter a four digit code within two hours to verify it was me. I am unsure whether or not I did so or if I completely missed that email. Could it be something to do with that?

I have only ever used my own mobile phone to advertise items. I didn't even use my laptop. I am completely baffled and feel that this needs to be looked into so that I can then receive an apology for being falsely accused of something I did not do. I hope you are able to do this on my behalf. My next port of call will be Citizen's Advice if no resolution is forthcoming.

I can if required forward to you the stream of emails I received in reply to my request for this to be looked into. These came from several representatives: Cindy,Daniela, Marwen

Thanking you in anticipation.

Jane Mather (Ms)

Desired outcome: An apology

A brief follow-up to my comment. I suggest you request a copy of the data Vinted hold on you, Jane, under the Data Protection Act. Hopefully this will shed light on exactly what offenses we committed and pursue further! At the very least, we'll cost them a couple hours of their legal team's hourly rate. Good luck.

Jane, I have fallen under similar circumstances this evening, and I am livid! Not only is this distressing, time-consuming and belittling, but it also extremely harmful to private sellers or businesses with regards to their reputation and livelihood! I'd love to see others get in touch via this thread, so that perhaps we may get a class-action lawsuit underway with regards to these rather ridiculous accusations which are doled out with neither explanation, nor justification to those that it concerns. Vinted, it seems, are just another dime-a-dozen tech startups that believe the law is written via the keyboards of their underpaid "legal team" which, as pertains to both our experience, is quite a stretch with regards to job description and seems more like an AI programmed to flag certain (undisclosed) factors, which promotes a block and then facilitates communication with someone that pastes in a paragraph or two from a fraudresponses.docx file. Absolute shambles of a company that deserves to be taken down!
