I check my credit reports regularly. Last week I looked at Experian and there was something on there about some lease I had that had not been paid. I have not had any leases in over 15 years and they are showing me $532 past due on a balance of $4876! I contacted the company, ACIMA, and they could not match my phone number of email to my supposed account. However, they asked for the last 4 of my SS and I gave it to them (which now I regret) but they said oh yes we see the account now. I said good, what was the lease for? "Sorry sir, we can't tell you that". I say well how am I supposed to fight this since you will not let me know what it is for? "Well sir you have to file a fraud report through the police and email us the report number and then we will fill a fraud report at our end at the same time and hopefully figure it out". Well folks, I could tell by their questions they were on a fishing expedition. These people are scam artist! They give you no answers when you call and give you no solutions. when you file a dispute through Experian, they tell Experian, "oh yes it is a valid account" and Experian turns down the dispute!
