Made a purchase at Family Dollar #11256 of $2.29 cents. I gave the cashier a five-dollar bill. I was given $2.00, lacking the 29 cents to make 5. Then the cashier pointed at a sign: "no cash back." Generally, that phrase references cash back from a check, credit card or debit transaction. This time, apparently, it means customers don't receive correct change from a cash transaction. The sign should have indicated 'no coin change given.' I've not seen this at other Family Dollar stores and wonder if this is company policy — if it is, it's still theft; nonetheless, I won't be shopping there anymore. Believe me, there have been days when twenty-nine cents were the difference between eating and not eating that day. Since the sign does not adequately communicate the intentions of the message, it appears that Family Dollar just keeps the extra money — in my world, that's theft.
Desired outcome: I would like my 29 cents.
