View all 41 complaintsTechSkills / MyComputerCareer.edu - I am complaining because my computer career did not hold up their commitment to help me find gainful employment.
In 2015, I was laid off from AT&T with 30 days to find employment within the company. I attended a job fair featuring seminars on Job Searching that was held by MYCC's career coach. He was very compelling and committed and I believe that if he was still with MYCC, I would not be having the problems that I have had.
Although I am not very technical, the coercive recruiter insisted that MYCC could prepare me for advancement in a technical career. Initially, she lied & said the City of Royse City was offering free grants for its citizen. We investigated, I was told only for individuals below a certain income. Nevertheless I allowed her to talk me into enrolling and taking out a student loan. In the meantime, I did find a job within AT&T, so my goal was to get my Certifications and get a better job.
While I was attending the approximate 9 month program, their stellar career coach resigned and went to work for Robert Half. After that, career coaches came & went, a couple were at least consistent with providing opportunities, however it dwindled off to the point that I never received any job opportunities. They did help me find one job, it turned out to be a 100% Commissioned Sales Job for a New Start Up with a total of 3 employees including me and the owner. Because they were unheard of, I spent a year Cold Calling & Pounding the Pavement, only to lose money while never earning a dime. They could not even reimburse me for expenses.
Desired outcome: I would like to have MyCC pay off my Student Loan & we can call it even.
