Aspen Dental - overcharge

Aspen dental in monroeville (pittsburg, pa) where to begin with this one? They will treat you like gold... As long as you are financed for a high amount of money! They will call you numerous times a week... If you are financed for a large amount of money! Other then that, you get treated like garbage. And they will not return any of your phone calls! I am deathly afraid of the dentist and will not go unless I absolutely have to. So I have a horrible toothache. I went in november 2018 and was told the tooth needs to come out, they said they wanted the money upfront before I can even make an appointment with the oral surgeon. $320 (out of pocket) right around christmas time. I don't have extra cash at that time of the year, i'm a single mom. So I can't get it pulled until I have the money. Fine, i've waited this long, what's a little longer?
March 2019, I call back because I finally have the money. I get charged for another exam... $75 out of pocket. Ok they tell me same thing... Tooth needs to come out, gotta make an appointment with the oral surgeon who is only there once a month! Then the dentist asks me why I didn't get this taken care of in november? I explain to her it was christmas time and I didn't have an extra $320 laying around. They inform me they don't have the oral surgeon's schedule yet and I will be the first person on the list to call when they know his schedule. I ask what I can do for the infection in the meantime? Dentist tells me..."good luck with that and just keep doing what your doing!" wow! Not quite sure that's how you treat a patient, but I brushed it off. A few days later I decide to call, girl informs me the oral surgeon will be there on april 20th and his appointments are filling fast! Wait... I was supposed to get a phone call? Oh that's right! I'm paying out of pocket... I don't matter to them! So I say well i'd like to schedule an appointment to have my tooth removed. She schedules me for 9:00am on 4/20/19. A few more days go by... I was never told a price again or asked to pay and I couldn't even make the appointment in november until I paid! So I call back and tell her this. She tells me I am scheduled but not with the oral surgeon. Now I am pissed. I want to speak to a manager and was told she was busy and she would call back. The monroeville aspen dental office avoided calling me back for 3 days! I called multiple times a day for 3 days and was told I would get a call back by the end of the day. They finally call me back and tell me there was a schedule conflict snd my time was changed to 1:15pm. I was told the oral surgeon was only there until 1:00pm that day. So now they have given my appointment away to someone else and never even called me to let me know! They just put me on for an exam! After they get done with that we talk payment. She tells me it will be $395 out of pocket! Wait... It was $320 back in november, where is this extra $80 coming from? She goes on to tell me they put a wrong billing code in the first time and it's been corrected now. I'm thinking i'm being charged because the oral surgeon has to stay longer like that's my fault these idiots can't schedule someone correctly! So I pay them and finally have my appointment taken care of.
So the day of my appointment I get my receipt and i'm looking at it but i'm so nervous about my procedure that I just put it in my purse. I get my tooth taken care of and then i'm on my way! Finally no more toothache! Now all I have is a huge headache. I finally look over my receipt and see I have been charged 3 times for the same thing. A charge for the first 15 mins of general anesthesia and then 2 additional charges for 15 mins of additional anesthesia! I was only in the room for 15 mins according to my mom who was with me. So I once again call the monroeville location and question my charges. I am told 3 times by the girl on the phone I was only under for 15 mins and I have a zero balance. I said that's not what i'm asking you, I want to know why I paid for 45 mins if I was only under for 15 mins? Of course she can not answer my question and I am once again told the office manager is busy and I will get a call back. Here it is the end of the day and no one has called me back. I have also called another aspen dental to see if they could help me. (the waterfront location and jordan was very nice and as helpful as she could be) she tells me she will email the office manager at monroeville to call me about my concerns. After this I then call my insurance company and explain to them what is going on. The lady informs me that they covered everything and I was only responsible to pay $111.07 out of pocket! Wait... They charged me $395.66! Now I am fuming! My insurance company asks me to hold on while they call the monroeville office. Same girl I talked to earlier will not put the office manager on the phone and says they are also contacting the doctor to check on the charges. And that someone will be in touch with me to further discuss the charges. My insurance company again tells this girl that I am only responsible for $111.07. No one has called me back! You over charged me $284 and I will get my money back! You have overcharged my insurance company as well! I will never come back to this office and I will tell everyone I know how you do nothing but rip people off and take advantage of them! I will report you to who ever I can! I feel bad for the people you ripped off and got away with it!
