Enterprise Rent-A-Car - overcharged damage claim

My friend and I rented a car from enterprise at the sheraton 15 s. 36th street philadelphia, pa office on 8/4/2010. Since we only needed it for one day, so we decided not to buy the damage insurance, and everything was fine until the next day when we returned the car. There was suddenly a dent on the roof, an enterprise employee insisted I had to fill a report and pay for the damage. Two weeks later, I got a letter from enterprise that the total amount I have to pay is $2844.46 which includes new parts ($366.25), labor ($1382.50), materials ($178.20), administrative fees ($150), loss uf use ($574.82), and diminishment of valuse ($192.68). I found it's absurd. I took the picture of the dent when we returned the car, and it's only a small one. I believe enterprise overcharged it, and I seriously doubt that the dent was there even before we rented it!
Enterprise needs to resolve this matter correctly as I did not do any damage to the vehicle at all and even if I need to pay for the dent, the repair fee is still too high.

Hi, Ayayolaw

Thanks for the heads up, unfortunately I'm an international student so I don't have a car insurance and a rewards credit card. That's what make me frustrated because I have to pay those money out of my pocket and it's a big amount for a student...

You need to stop being a deadbeat and pay for your damage.

Do you have your own car? If so, your car insurance for that car may cover this damage. Also, if you charged the card on a rewards credit card like United Visa Mileage Plus, or Amex Gold, etc, there may be coverage by virtue of your using that card. You may already know all this, but figured that there was no downside to making the comment.
