On 6/6/22, prior to going to this UPS Store to ship an item, I used the UPS website to calculate shipping costs. It showed that it would cost $56.10. I had estimated the weight of the package to be 13 lbs.
When I went to this "UPS Store", I was charged $81.42. I asked what the weight was, and it was higher (14.5 lbs). I couldn't believe that an additional 1.5 lbs would cause such an increase in cost.
When I got back home, I again used the UPS.com pricing tool online, and even with the additional weight, the shipping cost was still $56.10. I called UPS's customer service line, and was told that as this "UPS Store" was a franchise, they can "set their own pricing". I find that outrageous. UPS 'customer service' told me to get UPS's pricing, to print a label at home, and request pickup by a UPS truck.
In short BEWARE, that this "UPS Store" will price gouge you! FedEx doesn't do this.
Desired outcome: To be refunded the difference between UPS's price and this franchise's artificially inflated price.
