I was in the family dollar location on sheridan drive in tonawanda NY today. Store had customers inside shopping and two managers I believe were stocking in an aisle. Talking loud enough for me to hear the entire conversation. I understand its the holiday season and people are stressed and over worked but the way this (outside) manager was speaking to his in-store manager employee was uncalled for and should've been handled in a office or when no one was in the store to over hear. Manager of the store was being spoke to as if he didnt really matter to the company. The fact that they were understaffed and how he had to work everyday despite the fact he was tired and overworked because of the understaffed location. I heard him telling the outside manager how tired he was and how late he has been staying everynight only to be told by this gentleman "that's not my fault, then hire more people." The manager was told he already knew being a manager around the holiday season that EVERY manager is to work a 6 day week despite being tired etc. That if he wanted a day off to recoup he needs to call other stores and have someone fill in so he could have a day off. I don't know how this company runs or their rules, but I do know that if people are treated as if they dont matter, it reflects through employees that represent the company. I felt bad for this employee for basically being belittled in an open setting instead of behind closed doors where customers couldn't hear this entire conversation. I honestly didnt want to purchase my products after hearing how this manager was spoken to and how he was treated in front of paying customers. I still made my purchase and he was the one to cash me out and you could see how tired he was. Ive worked and managed in customer service/retail all my life and i hope that your company notices these over worked and probably underpaid employees around this holiday season or even any day ending with a Y. I did not catch this managers name all I really can describe him is as a Latino Man who is always friendly when i shop at that location and today despite this interaction between the two managers, he kept his professional attitude but definitely looked worn out. I know a few people that need jobs, but I'd rather not send them to your business if they would be treated the same way or even spoken to in a store where customers are shopping and not in a more private room.
