American Automobile Association [AAA]

On October 23, 2023, I was not able to drive my car while on the NJ Turnpike. Because AAA is not allowed on NJ Turnpike, AAA representative assured that I would be reimbursed for the cost of another tow truck. Instead of towing the car, the tow driver asked if he could just remove the dragging engine cover. Seemed like a most prudent decision.

I submitted the claim and when I hadn’t heard anything, I called to find out that it was DENIED by ALYSSA O’CONNELL – who said it was not a service that AAA provides so wasn’t covered. That makes NO sense, I couldn’t drive my car – I pay $300 for membership so that when I have a car situation, AAA will help. I was told that if they towed my car or if they brought me gas or if they unlocked my car, or if I had lied about what the tow truck driver did, I would have been reimbursed – but because I was honest, I was told that it was not reimbursable. AAA should do right by this member and reimburse the $159.
