Frigidaire - Frigidaire refrigerator with a faulty compressor from factory

We purchased a Frigidaire top freezer refrigerator from Lowe's Appliance Store on November 26, 2023. It was delivered on November 28. Within 48 hours the refrigerator began freezing food. We called Lowe's but could not return or replace it since we did not purchase it with a Lowe's card.

We called Frigidaire. They informed us that they would only replace the appliance if their technician deems it irrepairable. They scheduled a technician to come and check it out.

We had to wait till December 7 for a technician. It was determined at the visit that there was an issue with thermostat wires. They were not connected from the factory. Two days later the fridge continued to exhibit the same issue of freezing the food. Frigidaire was contacted. First they claimed we had to move the fridge to a different location other than where it is — in the garage. We bought it garage ready. Then they scheduled for the same appliance store technician came. Frigidaire hung up on him while he was waiting for resolution. He then did something with his tools and told us it was a bad thermostat and he would have to order parts. After a week we contacted the appliance store and parts were never ordered. We were told we cancelled the repair.

Frigidiare was called again. This time they put it with a different department and a new Electrolux technician was sent the third time on December 18. During this repair we found out Electrolux owns Frigidaire.

He replaced the thermostat. We were told the fridge was too full and the air was not flowing. So we rearranged and organized everything. This did not work.

Thermostat would cut on for about a minute or two, then cut off. Inside the fridge went from freezing to 45 degrees. Freezer also stopped working properly.

We called Electrolux this time and were sent back to Frigidaire. We tried to have the former technician come, but were told he was not authorized in our area.

A new technician came on January 9. He was the first one to open the back of the refrigerator and found out that the compressor was leaking and ordered repair of the sealed system. He determined that it was a factory issue. Parts will need to be ordered. We will have to wait until January 17th.

We called Frigidaire and asked for a replacement. Lowe's will replace it if they authorize the return. We purchased Lowe's extended warranty but they will not do anything because the fridge is under original warranty.

Electrolux/Frigidaire refuses to replace it and is denying that there is a factory issue. The refrigerator is 11/2 months old. They keep repeating, "the technician has to declare it irrepairable." The technicians told us they cannot do it because they are under contract with Frigidaire. We recorded our conversation with the last technician and he repeated the same thing.

We simply do not want a repaired refrigerator that is brand new unit with a faulty compressor. We have lost hundreds dollars of food because of freezing and now not cooling properly. We want Electrolux/Frigidaire to honor the guarantee that our appliance would be free of material defects or component malfunctions.

Customer Service is completely dysfunctional and at times very unprofessional. Some cannot even speak English. We were hung upon many times. We called Electrolux Headquarters but did not get a response. They asked us to complete surveys. In many of them we repeatedly asked for a resolution. We keep receiving responses telling us they are sorry but cannot really do anything.

Claimed loss: $350

Desired outcome: We want a replacement for the faulty unit.

Hi Aidan.

We are extremely sorry to hear of your frustration with your Frigidaire fridge. Please forgive us but we're starting back at the beginning, having just now being brought into your issues.

To begin with, it would help if we knew the exact model of refrigerator you have. Many are offered as being garage ready upgradable but does not come from the factory as such. A kit is required to protect the thermostat and guarantee the unit is controlling temperature in the way it should. Without this kit, the fridge may not be able to be used in a non-temperature controlled environment.

Whereas an authorized service technician has determined a problem and now is in the process of obtaining parts to service the unit, control is with him/her to declare the unit unrepairable. Once this is done, an R. A. (return authorization) number will be assigned to your particular unit and qualify for an exchange. This process is actually better than attempting to arbitrarily replacing the unit, as the issue you're having is being directly addressed. You should be confident it the technician's ability.

With all of that explained, please make sure to let us know if your issues are not completely resolved. We want to make sure you're delighted with the final outcome.

Frigidaire - professional series 30" electric double ove model # fpet3085kf

The oven bottoms are made of a very poor quality material and warp. On the top oven a hole has been burned through the bottom and exposed the heating element. This is a very serve hazard and could cause personal injury/death. This unit was purchased on Jan. 13. 2013, not very old. After closer review I now see that the bottom oven floor has buckled and showing additional signs of burning. I feel the manufacture needs to investigate this issue ASAP. Service Tech has told me to disconnect the oven immediate, this is not repairable.
