Bob Evans - poor service / experience

I just arrived back from dinner at Bob Evans. Last year we had a good experience and decided to go again this Thanksgiving. We understand that it is a sy time, however, from the moment we were seated, the service or should I say a complete lack thereof, began as we waited 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us and take our drink orders. Finally we flagged down a manager who took our drink orders. Then we waited for someone to come and take our dinner order. Finally a waitress took our order, including desserts that we wanted to go. After quite another long wait our food finally arrived. There was no complaint about the food. We never saw our waitress one after the food came and no one asked if we wanted more bread or a refill of our drink. As we sat waiting we watched other customers sitting at their table with no one taking drink orders for acknowledging them at all. Many had to flag someone or get up and go to the counter to ask. The people next to us asked a waitress to help them and she said that wasn't her table and walked away. Most everyone was complaining of the lack of service. When we were readyt to leave we had to flag someone down to vget our desserts and bill which took some time. When I went to pay the bill, the manager asked me how everything was. I told him. He said it was due to shift change and was sorry. I told him we had arrived at 2:05 (we checked out at just before 4:00)and that was not change of shift. I suggested that he take this year's problems and try to find a solution for next year. He made no response. However, all those that were waiting in the slow moving long line to checkout started to complain about their service and one even said her food arrived cold. I own several businesses and try to offer constructive and accurate comments when I have an issue. I believe that the manager sets the tone for any business and he tone of this restaurant today was terrible. Many people around us said they will not be back to this restaurant. I guarantee that we will not return.
