The store manager at the Hamilton, MT, (12/4/22 and 12/8-22) store was rude, condescending, and most important uninformed about his products. My first run in with this Manager was my asking about a primer to go between wood and auto paint. I was told at that time that if I was using auto paint he would not sell me anything in the store. I wrote it off to arrogance and incomitance. My second experience with him was worse. The arrogance was back as was the incompetence. I was working on a piece of furniture that had a veneer top. I was asking about stain. I was told that Sherwin Williams did not make a stain that could be used on a veneered surface. That it was not possible to use a stain in that condition. I asked him what the pentation level of Sherwin Williams stain was. The answer I got back was that he was not a professional but only a salesman. Apparently with no education on the products he was selling.
I wrote this exchange off as a personal issue between us, for what reason I don't know. I would work with anyone else in the store but I won't go back. I don't spend a lot of money currently on panting supplies. Maybe $1500 per year. I was a general contractor in another town and spent a considerable amount of money with Sherwin Williams.
I mentioned this instance to several other paint suppliers in the area and they all had the same reports about this manager. The paint person at Ace Hardware told me that they receive a considerable amount of business from the actions of this manage.
Desired outcome: The desired outcome would be customer service classes and product information classes for this manager. I would cringe at the next person that walks of the street and has to deal with this person.
