My daughter is a TJX employee in Hudson. She complained that the "key carrier" at the store doesn't like her or any other younger employee who is color or is a minority.
I understand that they all need to rotate their position during the workday. "she" doesn't let them stay long as a cashier, but the other girls can stay the whole day.
For example Sunday, my daughter started as a cashier, and I went there to shop around 1:30 and, she was sent to be the greeter (1 hour after her shift started).
It was okay until I get to the cash register.
From 8 cashiers, 7 were blond American girls, and 1 was an old lady that has worked at that store for many years. Sorry if this sounds prejudice on my part.
But that flagged me something.
I didn't like what I saw.
I heard other stories that fill employees of color/minority did quite their job because of discrimination, but they never filed a complaint. They were all young kids.
In all my years here in the USA, I never felt discriminated against in any way.
But Sunday, As an immigrant to this country, I did. Because of the whole picture/situation, the front of the store (cashier). The girls were doing what suppose to do.
Why only "white" Blond girls at the cashiers? Why was it not a mix of it?
What can be done, to help others that probably are afraid of open their mouth and lose their job?
I want to say something at the moment, but at the same time, I don't want my daughter to retaliated because of my opinion.
Desired outcome: More equality between all employees
