View all 14 complaintsOverseas Adventure Travel - Failed to honor incentives to reschedule and added cost of airfare on a trip with free airfare
A trip to Egypt was originally scheduled for 04/20 but cancelled due to the pandemic. International airfare was included in the cost. The original reservation was #3910108 and changed to 3975236 when I rescheduled.
I received a letter dated March 21, 2020 from the CEO, Harriet Lewis stating that I could get a full refund, reschedule for later 2020 or in 2021 through May 1, 2020. Two weeks later on April 3, she rescinded the option for a refund prior to the deadline. Subsequently, two friends threatened formal complaints and did receive full refunds.
A $500 reduction in tour price incentive to reschedule then became a credit plus a 10% incentive off the trip cost was offered. I have received neither for the rescheduled trip I went on 09/2021.
The initial invoices showed $1, 400 for the free airfare which was credited. Subsequent invoices including the last one dated 09/16/21 showed a charge of $1, 300 for airfare with no credit.
This last invoice indicated credits of a Good Buy Savings of $574 (10% incentive) Price Protection Adjustment of $378 (the original price was guaranteed even though the prices increased) and a Trip Discount of $500 (incentive) which should have reduced the price of the trip and provided me a refund. I have been denied any refund in responses from Mr. Husid and Mr. French, Travel Support personnel.
I sent several emails over the past several months including a certified letter on 08/23/21to the CEO (which was never acknowledged). On 08/06/21 I received a voice mail from Mr. Husid stating that the cost of the airfare was balanced by the incentives. This is false as the two issues are unrelated. There should not be a charge for airfare at all.
On 10/23/21, I sent another email and received a response from Mr. French acknowledging the Good Buy Savings with no mention of the airfare cost.
I originally had a roommate but requested a single room and paid $895-$500 credit (from the cancellation from another friend). Mr. French claimed that the $500 credit came from the incentive and my credit from my friend is MIA. My roommate was charged on my VISA for a single room of $895 as well. That room was already paid for and he remained in that room as a result of my decision. Thus, I was charged twice for the same room. There is past practice for not charging the roommate. On a previous trip, a room became available for me and the charge to the roommate was reversed. Mr. Husid and Mr. French claimed that my roommate requested a single room which is false.
Desired outcome: Cash refund of $500 + $574 incentives, refund of $895 for the room charge and the $500 credit from Fr. O's cancellation.
