I took a job as a Commercial Driver in December 2019. I did orientation/paperwork the first 2 days, shadowed an Assistant Manager on the morning of day 3, and that was the extent of my "training".
As a result I made some mistakes that I would have otherwise known what to do. Instead of offering more training or any other help, my manager saw fit to scream at me in front of a store FULL of customers and my coworkers. I wrote him a note asking him to please not humiliate me like that again. Two weeks later he reamed me out on the phone. To this day I still don't know why, but when I got back to the store, the Assistant Manager bit my head off in front of everyone. I took the round that I was ordered to do, knowing I would be leaving as soon as I got back.
Nobody should have to be shamed for their mistakes. And I was a GOOD employee. They were frequently short of drivers and I always came in early and stayed late. I worked Christmas Eve, and I stayed up all night baking Christmas cookies for my customers. Everybody got car parts AND cookies that day.
I loved my job, and I adored my coworkers and my customers. I feel bullied out of my job by my managers, and that is just not right.
I contacted Autozone corporate office about it and was told someone would call me back "within 24 hours". Unfortunately, nobody ever called me back.
A couple of days ago I needed something at the store, so I went in for the first time since I left. It made me so sad and a bit angry; a job I really loved stolen from me by a manager with a loud voice and a short fuse.
