I was an ADT customer for many years. My account number is [protected]. I contacted an ADT rep on November 14, 2022, to notify that we would be moving to Illinois from Arkansas. On November 18, 2022, ADT attempted to deduct from our checking account, the entire amount owed for our equipment contract. The first installment amount of $1103.07 overdrew our account and the 2nd installment amount of $1046.20 was returned unpaid by our bank. After reading through our contract, I could not find where ADT was legally within their rights to take this kind of action. I called and spoke with an ADT rep to ask how much we owed to clear our account and the amount I was provided was $1046.20. I paid this amount using another form of payment. On November 25, 2022, I received a statement indicating we also owed $1,223.69 for "monitoring" charges. I have not paid this, and I don't think I should based on ADT's actions of overdrawing our account, prematurely collecting the entire contract amount and not allowing us the time to secure monitoring at our new location. The frustration of trying to contact ADT is exhausting, so I am now submitting a complaint.
Desired outcome: The outcome I would like is for our account to be cleared of the remaining $1223.69 that ADT says we owe for "lost" monitoring.
