Motel 6

Hello: I arrived in Florida on Friday and at the Florida Welcome center was a hotel coupon book that I picked up. I seen in the booklet an ad for Motel 6 in Tampa for a price of 74.99 valid til April 2023. This is Feb. 17th 2023. I planned my trip that day to end in Tampa then and to stop at Motel 6 for the night and rent a room. Well it seems a fair is in town and they were not going to honor the coupon they had printed up in the booklet that I got at the Florida Welcome Center for Hotel Coupons. I said it is good til April of this year. No the clerk said, we are not honoring it because of the fair in town and if you want a room it is 149.99 + taxes. If I had not had such a busy day and was tired from driving and I was also travelling with a person who is recovering from a stroke and needed some rest I would have told them where to put there double pricing but it was now 5:30 pm Friday and the hotels in the area were booked, as this was my 2nd time back here and I had already checked around the area and the hotels were sold out. So they knew they had us by the balls. The highway was in grid lock from Friday evening traffic with people trying to get home for the weekend, what was one to do? They doubled the price and would not except the coupon I had picked up at the Welcome Center so with tax I ended paying 175.00 for a budget basement hotel room. This is the Motel 6 right off the I 75 in Tampa Exit Number 257. What crooks but when you have very little other choices and are travelling with a stroke victim, you bend over and take it. I will never again after this, use the Motel 6 chain again in my life. Warning to future travellers, don't believe the price advertised or coupons prices you may have and price gouging is not above this budget motel morals. Keep driving as I will in the future, giving them the middle finger as I drive by. I remain: Alan Parker
