Only one cashier was on duty, and she was with a customer with a large and full cart. I had been waiting about 10 minutes without the line moving and the line was getting longer and longer. The cashier asked a fellow employee if she could help her, so the employee opened an extra register and took the next person in line. The manager then told the employee that opened the cash register to continue with her duties of moving the hangers to a different location, so the employee closed the register after just one customer. So I asked the manager if there is a possibility for an extra cashier? She literally yelled at me in front of everyone that "This is not an exclusive store. It is a bargain store where you are paying less than 10% of a regular store. If you want customer service you should go to an exclusive store." She continued to yell me in Spanish, somewhat repeating the same scolding as in English, and to her surprise, I understood her. She continued again, and the customer behind me lashed out at her, in Spanish and in English, expressing that she should treat all customers with respect, even if it is a discount store, and if she doesn't like it she should go clean houses. She continued to yell at us all. She finally called for another employee to open a register, but continued yelling at us all. The other cashier that was still helping the customer with the full cart, said to me, "Sorry, she is just pregnant" and apologized a few times for her. I have shopped at Ross for many years, and never experienced anything like it.
Desired outcome: Treat customers with respect. Don't scold and humiliate them publicly.
