I purchased a Brentwood dining table at the Manteca living Spaces store on 1/7/2023. It was delivered 1/20/23. I sent a warranty claim on 2/8/23 four a flawed tabletop. It is so rough that it cannot be cleaned with fabric or paper towel without catching the fabric and leaving balls of lint stuck to the table top. There are many small, crevices and spots where you can see the natural wood because the stain did not cover it, or has been pulled away. If you run your hand across the top of it, you might get a splinter, which happened to me. I received a response from living spaces #Warranty group. They did not approve my claim. They stated “After a thorough review of your claim, details and photos, it has been determined the effect of what you are experiencing is caused by miss use, neglect, or abuse. (the item is meant to be cleaned with a soft cloth not a paper towel.) the photos provided show the item in Port condition with excessive failures, which were not reported within a timely manner. For the safety of our team members transporting the item, we will not be able to proceed with your claim.”
After receiving this letter, I went to the Manteca store and spoke directly with the manager. He was surprised at the response, and told me to pursue it further by sending new photos. Photos do not show the roughness of the wood. They do show where lint has been picked up from trying to clean it. Because of the lighting, the small, unstained places do not show well. I gave up, and thought I would just try to live with it. That’s not going to happen. I am embarrassed to have my own family over for a meal because of the top surface of this table . We can’t sit around and play games on it. I don’t even use it! I am one person in this house, 73 years old, and have no reason to abuse a table top. I called living spaces complaint/warranty number this morning, May 3, 2023. I spoke with a Jessica. She was no help. I asked her to provide the name and contact information of someone at the top. She said she could not do that. I have been online trying to find that information. They must have some thing to hide, because I can’t find it. I would appreciate any help I can get with this. All I want is a smooth replacement, table, top, or someone to come and get it , sand it down and re-stain it. I shouldn’t have to do that for the price I paid, $1095. And that’s the table only. Please help me!
Desired outcome: A replacement table top that is smooth, or repair by sanding, and re-staining the top I have, or a complete refund of the whole dining set including bench, chairs and table.
