I scheduled an appointment with Lens Crafters in Brentwood, CA. in early October 2020 (October 6th). Needed upgrades to my glasses as I was complaining of headaches and eye strain. I am a teacher and after a year of distance learning work, which is now continuing into April in San Joaquin County, my eyes were very irritated. I spent quite a bit of money on these frames and lens.
In March 2021, I contacted lens crafters in Brentwood again, requesting a note stating that in addition to my new lens, I would benefit from a larger monitor. Because school districts need to qualify all spending, my HR office asked me to get a note from my eye doctor stating this before they could make the purchase. I called Brentwood and spoke to an employee who then asked the manager on duty if they could meet my request for a note. As per the employee, the manager agreed that this could be done, and that I could pick up the note at the front desk. I called back 2 days later to find out that the lens crafter doctor refused to do this. She also refused to return my phone call. She passed on a message that she wanted a note from my HR department stating that they denied my request. This is ridiculous. The choice not to call me back was unprofessional. It would have been better to call me and let me know why she was not allowed to do this, if this in fact was the case. This is when I made my decision to permanently change where I receive my eye care and purchase my lenses. I then found an optometrist in Livermore who reexamined my eyes, noted that I am both Farsighted with an astigmatism, gave me an updated prescription with a far better blue light coating than the coating from lens crafters, and a note with a guideline for protecting an employee from blue light exposure in the workplace. I have a unique situation because I teach digital art and deliver all my content via an online learning management tool. So whether at home or in the classroom, these accommodations can be used year round in all circumstances. Well my family and I will be moving on and getting our eye care elsewhere.
Desired outcome: I am taking time out of my day to report this incident. I am not a patient at another office and will continue doing business there and not with Lens Crafters.
