Dear Sir or Ma'am,
Back in mid-January, I took my 2016 Chevy Sonic into get the heater and A/C system checked out. After the diagnostic, it was discovered my thermostat and coolant hose had to be replaced, cost was around 500 dollars.
There was nothing wrong with the A/C then, fast-forward to a week ago when it started getting warm enough to use it. The A/C was inoperable blowing hot air, when I took it into Pep Boys they told me I needed a new A/C system, hoses, one of my tires tread was almost gone, and I needed brakes. Total cost was around 2000 dollars. I politely declined, and sought the warranty I had on it.
I took it to another place I trust more, and they told me the brakes were fine, just needed a brake fluid flush, tires were ok, but I got new ones anyway.
Took it back to Pep Boys to ensure I was under warranty, they did another diagnostic (even though I showed them the previous one done only a week ago), this time my brakes were fine, but my battery was mysteriously bad, and my AC just needed a new compressor, and hose. Getting inconstant information I declined again, was going to get charged for yet another diagnosis test, but I reminded them of the last one they conveniently forgot.
I am not pointing fingers, but I don't know if they sabotaged my A/C in the first place or were trying to get me to pay for way more than I needed. Either way, I do not trust them at all and will never take my business there again.
